Boston Acting Classes: what do users think?
dercio ferreira: Highly recommend, awesome people!
Greg McMorrow: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Carlos Spinola: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI really enjoyed and love the class. Art and Amanda were exceptional. I've been waiting to attend the class for some year now and I finally made it, and it was amazing. I'm looking forward for the next step!
rachel P: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueHighly enjoyed taking Intro to Acting with Art and Amanda. Working over zoom seemed interested but it turned out to be one of the best acting classes I have taken so far. Highly recommend to anyone interested in the craft!
Tiffany Wong: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueHighly recommend. The Zoom classes during the pandemic have been amazing! Art and Amanda are incredible teachers. They both have so much wisdom, experience and compassion. They've helped me discover and hone my sensitivity towards character development. I've learned so much and I'll keep taking classes with them as long as I can!
Efe Osifo: I really enjoyed my time here! Art and Amanda brought so much awesome energy. They created a safe space almost immediately. They listened to our stories and found scripts for us to learn that connected to us individually. I highly recommend this class to any and everyone! I certainly will be trying to sign up for another class.
Diana Hernandez Johnson: Art and Amanda from Boston Acting Classes are phenomenal people and instructors. From the first Zoom class, they made the environment very welcoming for people from all different backgrounds and experience, whether you're trying out acting for the first time or haven't acted in several years. Though the class was virtual due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, the class is still very interactive. I'm new to the Boston area and joining this class made me feel like I was part of a community. The acting assignments do make you use your brain, from analyzing your character to effectively collaborating and working with a scene partner. Overall, I highly recommend signing up for a class offered by Boston Acting Classes. I've already registered for the Intermediate Acting class. Thanks for all that you do, Art and Amanda!
Julia Sollenberger: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWonderful, enriching, and enjoyable experience. Art & Amanda are clearly pros and passionate about what they do. I'm so glad I took a chance and signed up for their class!
Elisa Guzman-Hosta: I had an amazing experience taking the intro to acting class. Art and Amanda present with different techniques, tools, and how to apply them. At first, I enrolled to overcome my fear of public speaking, now I love acting and I want to continue and see where it goes. Thanks for a fun, professional, and amazing class Art and Amanda. See you guys in the intermediate course. Elisa
Sharan Gill: I just finished up two classes (intro and intermediate) with Amanda and Art. Both classes were really great and I recommend Boston Acting Classes to anyone looking for a fun, well-organized acting class where you can learn in a comfortable, easygoing setting. The classes involved some improv, learning about different ways to approach a character and a script, monologue work, and scene performances with a partner. The classes were over Zoom due to covid and Amanda and Art managed the digital method of teaching well. Plus, they both give really helpful direction and feedback. I hope I can take a class with Art and Amanda IRL soon :)
Evan Jones: Positive:Professionalism,ValueArt and Amanda were awesome and really helped me find out how to read scripts and also very helpful. A great class and highly recommend!
Jacob Whitehill: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI took both the introductory and intermediate courses. Amanda and Art were wonderful teachers, and the classes were totally fun -- especially during the pandemic.
Renee Hoekstra: I took a beginner's acting class with this couple and they were amazing. I was so impressed by their enthusiasm, energy, stamina, and excellent means of providing useful, relevant, and helpful feedback. As I believe this was their first time offering a class on Zoom, they did a seamless job in taking small group exercises to an online platform and making them interactive, fun, and engaging. A perfect way to survive a pandemic while being stuck at home all day!
Cami Chen: I took a few acting classes with Art and Amanda. So happy with my own growth, the notes I received and the amazing people I met here! I am of East Asian descent, so glad to have a space to explore diverse scripts and characters...
Fury: Class Taken: Intro to ActingHad an absolute blast. It's rare and hard to pull off, but I think a truly welcoming environment has been created here. These folks know what they're doing. And just the right things to say to individuals terrified of performing - It was amazing to see my group change from an awkward bunch of excited nerves on day 1 to a laughing group of folks who respected eachother's performances by the last class. It's hard to believe this course was only 5 sessions; I feel like I've learned so much and am AMPED to continue here next season! Thank you so much, Amanda and Art!!
Melissa Reddick: I took three classes with Amanda and Art, and would love to take more if I had the time in my schedule. Their classes are fun and challenging, and they really know how to support you if you want to grow as an artist. I recommend their acting classes for everyone, especially if you are interested in learning a new skill, overcoming shyness, or delving deeper into your emotional intelligence and expression.
Steve Wolff: I took the introduction to acting class with Amanda and Art. It was really fun and very valuable. Amanda and Art are great people, fun to work with, and have put together a class that is both effective, enjoyable, and at an appropriate level. This course is not just for actors; it is for anyone who wants to improve their presence and get a little bit out of their comfort zone (but not too far). I highly recommend this class.I also use Amanda as a speaking coach and she has been outstanding. She really helped me grow as a speaker.
Jim K: This was a really great class! Well worth the money. Art is an exceptional teacher - he’s very friendly and approachable and so knowledgeable. The class is always fun and lots of energy and they make it seem so easy that you learn a ton of new skills and have such a deep understanding of things.I highly recommend this class!Thank you Art! I learned so much and had a great time doing it.Jim
Dr. Sandy: Excellent! Looking forward to.more!
Melisa Ilari: I had such an amazing time at the Intro to Acting class with Amanda and Art! They are both such wonderful teachers, I feel like I was able to learn so much from them in this short time. They are both so invested in what they do and you can see how much they love it. It was a great experience and I cannot wait to take another class with them in the future! I definitely recommend it to everyone ♥
Diana Kennedy: Amanda and Art taught me a lot about observing — in a script, in reacting to your scene partner, in the development of a character. They provided me with a fresh perspective by providing new approaches to break some of my habits and helping me to explore. I look forward to working with them again!

Mimi walsh: I have had nothing but amazing experiences at C P Casting!Kyle Crand is a wonderful CSA that graciously fosters actors how to better craft an audition in his classes. He is setting you up for success whether you know it or not! His auditioning class is crucial.Bates Wilder is much like his name. He is wild! Wildly talented, down to earth, playful, and down right fun! I recommend studying with him as much as you can! This man is a GIFT that is gifted.I do not know Carolyn Pickman personally. However, I have several industry friends that work with her and they speak of her as they would their own mother. I also consistently hear how her approach with actors is open minded. She fosters her local actors and can see talent where others may not. Just as Kyle does. And Bates for that matter.Overall, CP Casting has been wonderful to me over the years. As well as everyone I know in this market.A casting agency with integrity, dignity, and respect. That’s the best way I can describe CP Casting❤️
Laura Darrell: Love working with the folks at CP. They treat everyone with respect, are clear and concise on what is needed and expected, and are experienced and insightful in their direction. The proof is in the pudding, they do great work!
Marianne Bornkessel: CP Casting is one of the best in Massachusetts. I’ve known and worked with them for over 20 years with my kids! They offer great classes as well.
Elbert Kim: Penultimate and highly professional go to casting agency based primarily out of Boston. Their team of agents provided me opportunities to contribute to A-list productions from the very beginning of my acting career - and for that, I'm incredibly privileged and grateful. CP Casting is a must when exploring the world of acting in the Northeast!
Jon F. Merz: Fantastic casting experience - always! It's a wonderful thing as an actor to walk in and feel the support. CP Casting is always on schedule, professional, and a complete delight to audition with. For production companies considering their casting choices, I would urge you to use CP Casting. I've never once had a bad experience with them and they genuinely care about the actors they bring in.
Arthur Hiou: The Gold Standard in casting professional actors ! I have had the extreme privilege of auditioning for several roles over the years and recently booked a major feature film and a National Commercial with CP Casting! They are a complete company , from the informative classes they provide to actors of all levels right through to the auditioning process .
Kathy LaShay Berenson: It’s a great day to be invited to audition for CP Casting. Always clear & specific, Matt & Kyle take the utmost thought, care & professionalism in selecting their actors.Highly recommend Kyle’s Auditioning for Film/TV. Super people.
Chris Zito: The sense that the casting directors really want you to succeed is noticeable in every aspect of CP Casting. From classes, to answering general questions, and especially while auditioning. Love these guys!
Bonnie Discepolo: CP casting is a top tier casting house! Just out of Boston University School of theatre arts, I wanted to act for film so I took an on camera auditioning class with Carolyn. She not only taught me HOW to work with cameras and audition and be a pro on set, but also gave me my first big job. The National commercial that I booked with CP gave me my SAG card and the confidence/ training to be a professional! Now Kyle and Matt continue the excellence! CP are connoisseurs of the New England talent pool, they work tirelessly to train, educate and engage with their performers, and are kind and fun and generous with their time.During pandemic I moved home from LA to Boston to be closer to my family and had the opportunity to work on projects cast by CP again and the guys are SO impressive. They work on exciting, high value projects that make you want to dig in and do the work.I can’t speak highly enough about CP casting, they are quietly among the best in the business!- Bonnie Discepolo (director, actor, fan)
Mary Ann Schaub: You need to be on their mailing list. You need to submit and audition with them. You need to take classes with them and participate in programs they facilitate.I did—and CP Casting helped me book the role that made me a SAG performer and subsequently a (consistently working!) professional actor. On top of that—Carolyn, Matt, Kyle, et al, are genuinely good, kind, and phenomenally professional and creative people with a 10/10 rating of finding the best local talent for the ever-growing number of projects filming up and around this Hollywood East. 🎥 🎬Which reminds me—I need to sign up for a class. See you on set. 😎
Jimmy Shirts: Very professional and well organized! Took several classes there, these guys are great!
Brian Faherty: I love CP. They are very organized in their processes, as well as constructive and patient in their real time adjustments for actors in auditions. They have a main competitor in town who simply does not hold up to CP's professionalism, thoughtfulness, script analysis, and industry expertise.
Scott Sederquist: CP Casting is great. They are a very down-to-Earth agency that makes it easy to build great relationships. Kyle Crand works super hard to place his Boston talent in exciting high budget films. I've know him a long time and he's someone you can relate to!!
Maanav Ratan Prakash: It’s a good place
Lynn Julian: This Boston actress looks forward to auditions at CP Casting!Their offices are conveniently located in the heart of Boston. They cast Massachusetts actors, and New England Actors, for TV commercials, television shows and feature films.THE DEAL: CP Casting regularly offers priceless opportunitiesfor actors to get their BIG BREAK!
Carolyn Collins Petersen: Studied there for two years, top-notch teachers and very caring environment. Ken Cheeseman was the best!
TotallyRandomTalk: Great people nice & hard working got few sweet side job's with them

Igor Golyak Acting Studio: what do users think?
Alex Shneider Interviews: I entered Igor Golyak studio in October, 2016 and still taking the classes. From the beginning I felt the non-judgement atmosphere in the classroom and really liked it. What I like about Igor's approach to students is the uniqueness and individuality. It doesn't matter if the student had any acting experience, Igor finds something special about everyone and helps them open and develop the skills. I rediscovered myself in these classes. I highly recommend this class for professional and amateur actors.
Elena Shneider: What an amazing experience! Igor's classes really helped me be more confident and open minded. I took the classes for one year as a part of a group and we became a team. It fascinates me how these classes helped me look at people differently and find out new me. I believe Igor Golyak studio is the place to be for creative minds!
Polina: Very happy to take classes at this studio. Amazing and unique experience. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in theater, acting or wants to boost his/her creativity and imagination.

Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University: what do users think?
Syrah M: We enjoyed the play!Parking at 375 Longwood is convenient. Great outing with family and lots of places to eat afterwards within walking distance!
Janet Huang: Affordable shows and good opportunity for younger kids to get exposed to theater.I saw Make Way for Ducklings and Willy Wonka here. I believe the shows are performed by students and not professional actors. Make sure you have the right expectations when purchasing a ticket. I prefer productions in Umbrella Theater in Arlington.
Kathy Venetis: I had a wonderful time at the play along with our 1st graders. I recommend it for young kids!!! GOOD ACTING!!!
Shira Frager: Great Venue! We went to see "Make Way for Ducklings" and it was excellent.
Rob Lyttle: Always a great time, friendly and helpful staff.
V K (jeannie): Great venue, not too large. All seats have great sightlines.comfortable too. Wonderful performers in Matilda, the Musical, the children mostly had free training: acting, singing dancing. Matilda was a 9 year old, Lavender,7!!
Cecile Braun-Jones: Love love love their family friendly productions and community outreach and involvement . Great program and great shows for the family. Not a bad seat in the house
Sarah Clabby: Extremely grateful for how inclusive this theater was for children with disabilities. My son is autistic and we discovered the social story in the “Resources” section which made a HUGE difference as we prepared for and during the show. They also had a squishy toy available upon request and, upon seeing him having a difficult time entering the theater, a staff member offered us an extra set of ear muffs for the show to reduce sensory input. We were able to take several quiet breaks and potty breaks during the show, as other children also needed the same so it did not feel disruptive. Overall, it was a truly wonderful afternoon and a special place for children with special needs!
Patty Wojtowicz: Wonderful, creative summer camp for kids!
Paula Lacolla: Actors were good, seats more comfortable, first time going to a show so enjoyed it...
Ben Saraydarian: Best Theatre to take Acting Classes at in my opinion. Better than Disneyland!
Benadryl: Amazing Place to take theatre classes. You learn a lot with amazing teachers.
David Hornfischer: SawRagtime.,Terrific show. Strong cast incl kids. Great score. Show ran a bit long. Could have cut a song or two

Stephanie Conley: I love the plays they do
Behzad Taimur: Great cultural and extra curricular activities go on here for most of the year. Being close by and visiting here often helps makes the academic experience more fulfilling. The Riverway takes you downtown and elsewhere. Nice pretty area. A little riverlet and parks nearby. The area has great student life.

Scott Harrison: Nice
Anthony Pesaturo: Wonderful

Arlekin Players Theatre: what do users think?
Anton Krilloff: They do a lot of very impressive work. I highly recommend this theatre.
Lyne Brassard: I really enjoyed chekhov OS. Very professional and amazing.
Aaron Hill: As a Chekhov lover, I had a very mixed reaction to "Chekhov/OS," too complex to detail here. Pros: beautiful performances by the actors; the stark white background was visually stunning and liberating; other visuals engaging and interesting during the portions of the play being enacted; Baryshnikov speaking Chekhov's words in Russian was deeply moving. Cons: while the game show/interactive format was clearly the point of this exercise, I soon found it silly and distracting from concentrating on Chekhov and the actors; the constant presence of the banal "Chat" by members of the virtual audience was horribly annoying, like having to listen to people in a live audience constantly whispering to each other. There were many intriguing approaches to a "virtual theatre" interpretation of Chekhov, which would have appealed more to this Chekhov lover if they had focused on one play, or perhaps a "mash-up" of several plays. But leave the game show hostess and gimmicks and the virtual audience interruptions out.
Love Tangonan: The interactive experience was surreal.
joe berthiaume: Fantastic cutting edge work.
Ilya Freytsis: Small scale theater aiming high under the leadership of wonderful artistic director. Started as semi-professional theater rooted in the Russian theatrical tradition and still supported mainly by Russian speaking audience. it is in the process of transforming itself into a professional drama theater appealing to the general american theater lovers. It is fascinating to see how this transformation is unfolding.
Mark Soucy: Wonderful Theatre!
Ellen Rhuda: The ocean waves rise and fall. The sheep are hilarious. And the unspoken story moved me deeply. Listen to the sound of the balalaika and be enchanted. I loved the Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish.
Alexei Faktorovich: A wonderful theater with world class lineage stretching from Moscow right in the heart of Needham. Having a chance to see the plays that are masterfully directed and executed in an intimate space of a small theater is a cherished and memorable experience that stays with you long after the curtain closes.
Paul F: Excellent venue for seeing the productions of a talented theater studio and other cultural events. Friendly, enthusiastic atmosphere. Highly professional creative directing. Most events are in Russian.
Jack Villhard: Just when you think you've seen it all you haven't. Arlekin Players Theatre transforms the way you experience theatre in a way no other company has. Arlekin Theatre does each play justice, bringing new light to the text, and creating a truly personal experience for each audience member. After viewing The Seagull, you truly feel like a witness to something beautiful and moving that's happened right before your eyes and for no one else.
Sofiya Golyak: Great theater! Always something new and innovative!
Mike Pipko: For the past decade I have been witnessing the rise of a Phoenix from the ashes of typical theater.I have to admit that for all these years I couldn’t resist myself from going to see the same shows all over again. The emotions being triggered in my soul by those plays are extremely rare and valued to me – I just don’t meet them in my day-to-day routine.I understand that it could be seen as a sign of a weakness in a grown man, but a grown man isn’t afraid to be judged.
Aleksey Kazantsev: Simply put the “Seagull” is a must to see show. It is another amazing performance by Arlekyn Theater. Aside from superb acting, decorations, scene transition, sound and lights, etc. it is the most insightful look in mind of any creative person, in this case a writer, I’ve seen for a long time. The English translation of the famous play is so masterful, that feels as natural as Russian. As it goes, better one time to see, than seven times to hear. I personally will go and watch Seagull again.
Emil Sobol: This is a very strong performance, which conveys the intensity and symbolism of the play with great tension. There are many paired symbols of the house and a stone, two suitcases and two love letters, which the inhabitants leaving the house can take with them. The setting of the Arlekin Theatre is very dynamic, while it gradually reveals profound meanings about the connection between meanness and the creation of myths, about striving to meet the generally accepted norm, which changes and can hurt like a returned boomerang.
Amelia Gorman: Very creative! They captured the essence of the story and, as English only speakers, we were able to follow along well. We felt like part of the show in the cozy, comfortable setting!!! Thank you for a great experience.
Ellen Lasaro: We went to see "The miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", and it was an amazingly creative performance. Truly original and wonderfully performed at high professional level. The back and forth from Russian to English was well done and allowed to fully follow the plot. We'll definitely be back for other shows. Totally recommend it!
Mark Tseytlin: Thank you Arlekin theater for a wonderful trip thorough our shared immigration life stories. Why it happened, how we see it, how much we’ve changed, how it affected our children. The thoughts that stay with US every day for as many years as we’ve been living the immigration. Once again, it felt very real: countless suitcases, airports, departures, arrivals, and then Boston where we melt into America, raised children, and then aged into US.
DH ESTETIKA: Truly professional theatre! I watched "Immigrants", ( Fiddler on the roof), US. Consistently talented acting! Thank you for existing and creating!!
Esther Sokolinsky: Once again - a wonderful theatrical experience just around the corner of my home - WE-US, created and performed by Arlekin Theater. I always wonder how at such a miniscule venue with minimalistic tools the team could create such impressive works. Here we have a glimpse at Boston Russian community. Some are deeply immersed in their nostalgia, preserving old habits and foods, while others move ahead in their new life on a new soil. I vividly recalled my own first months full of loneliness and nostalgia. I came in June 2000 and was extremely lucky to land a decent job just in a month. I went back to Saint Petersburg for a New Year holiday - going home. I was happy to meet my relatives and friends there - but the feel of home was gone to the end of my short visit. Back to Boston, looking at the downtown through the window I almost cried: HOME. The end of story.
Gennadiy Vaysman: I am absolutely amazed by Mr. Golyak and his actors. This is a theater like no other, and the shows leave lasting impact on you. Words cannot describe this. We rarely miss their performances

American Repertory Theater: what do users think?
Tim Van Patten: A great venue, nearby parking. The student cast from Harvard were amazing. Saw The Great Comet of 1812
Eric Mankin: Just saw the Widow of Willesden at ART and it was fabulous, even if I didn't catch all the references. Just like 1776 last year, the show made me want to know more about what happened. Zadie Smith's metered play was so funny and clever.
Gail Stewart: Very fun show- The Wife of Wilesden.
Maggie Morio: Every play I see there is unique, special and different than the traditional Theater. The director is very astute and extremely knowledgeable on the staff they are presenting to the public. My most memorable experience there was summer with the production of 1776. Absolutely suburb. Right now is rehearsing for Broadway. I am sure that will get some Tony awards. Be curious and find out what is in their repertoire. You will never regret it.
annette jacobs: Not a bad seat in the house.
Christian Scott: Broadway quality productions in Harvard Square!I'm especially appreciative of their work with schools, my students love the Life of Pi and 1776
S BoweRs: Had the opportunity to see Life of Pi here. The show was incredible. I was happy that the facility still had mask mandates in place, especially during the heavy flu/cold season. Seating was very comfortable and all accommodations were clean.
Rick Johnson: Great performance of "Life of Pi"
mike d: The show we saw was great and the staff was helpful but all of the restrooms were "all gender" which was awkward
Craig Minoff: Incredible production of Life of Pi. Other shows have been solid too, but this one took the visuals and stage direction to new levels. Annoying that you still have to wear a mask and the snack selection is middling.
Quentin Fennessy: Shows from the ART often end up on Broadway and often win awards. Seriously. The Waitress first played here, and the Jagged Little Pill. This is a place for first class drama in the Boston area.
Stephen Dysert: the recent Life of Pi production is everything theater is supposed to be, and perhaps the best blend of high tech wizardry and dramatic storytelling I’ve seen.
Chris Grace: Life of Pi was amazing! A.R.T. presentations always amaze.
Curt Raffi: The American Repertory Theater on Brattle Street in the Loeb Drama Center is a real treasure of Boston theater. Forget the bustle of the city, enjoy amazing performances in an intimate 550 person theater all set in a relaxing side street atmosphere off of Harvard Square. Where else can you get amazing dinner and stroll calmly to the theater and never feel like you're getting pushed and shoved from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Peter Squires: Thoughtful well staged productions
Dan Drago: Very nice venue, medium sized, friendly staff. Came here to see Life of Pi.
Cesar Palma: This is a review of -LIFE OF PI- which I was lucky to attend on December 21st. What propelled me to get a ticket was an article in the Harvard gazette with the headline "Scene stealing puppets of "Pi". That unfortunately was not the case. The only thief that stole the show was the set designer (Tim Hatley) which created two magical moments: the appearance of the boat and the protagonist jumping into the ocean and bobbing mid torso a few seconds later. It would not have had the same effect without the lightning design (Tim Lutkin) and Video Design (Andrzej Goulding). A competent cast ensemble with outstanding performances by Avery Glymph and Sathya Sridharan in multiple roles.I believe the puppets could steal the show if the puppeteers were to be robed in black so that they blend into the background, a device that would have allowed the animals to come into their own. The most successful pairing between handler and puppet were the glowing fish. The rest were disjointed and did not move like their counterparts in real life. Zebras do not move like horses and bengal tiger are majestic not disjointed. The other problem I found was the in the casting. Pi we are told by an official is a sixteen year old boy who is hiding under the hospital bed, and when he finally comes from under it we get someone who appears to be in his early 30's, and with a physique that looked pretty good for having spent 227 days at sea, malnourished and in the company of a Bengal tiger. As competent a performer as Mr. Adi Dixit is, especially in his physical dexterity I had a credibility issue from the start. The initial interaction with the two officers seems to be playing for laughs rather than the traumatic experience he had undergone.Regardless of my reservations I urge you to make yours as soon as possible. It was an uplifting experience, full of awe and a full fledge collaboration of actors and puppeteers.
Daniel Spiess: Always a pleasure. Productions are of high quality. No seat is bad in this small theater.
John Dowd: Never seen a bad show here.Great program for kids here
Kevin Mastro: Just an absolutely wonderful experience, each and every time. Be it for a student performance or the next big show on Broadway, we are lucky to have such a fantastic theater so close by!Thanks ART for everything you do!!
Nick Felker: I saw a production of In the Heights here. The show was said to start at 7:30 but wasn't very punctual. The show was good, with solid production value. They didn't have any playbills though, which was disappointing. Still, a show here is well worth the ticket price.
