LS Tours: We arranged for a visit for a school group who had an interest in native American artifacts and history so from a quick search, we discovered the Peabody Museum and I'm so glad we did! The group had a wonderful visit and setting up the tour through their staff was seamless. Highly recommend a visit if your coming to the area, especially if you are a student travel group.

Krista Isabelle: We enjoyed every moment of this experience. Tobias is incredibly knowledgeable and it was inspiring to hear his passion for this history. Incredible to be in the buildings of a strong and powerful community.
Kiefer Finley: i wish i could go back in to that time period i wouldnt have to do anything
Kimberly Balkcom: A wonderful little lesson in Black Bostonian history. I didn't realize the Black community here was that thriving and successful well before the end of slavery. The tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. The museum is small with some interesting artifacts and info to read. I highly recommend.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $6–10 …More

Craig Prater: Beautifully preserved. A nice, quick stop along the Black Heritage Trail. The actual meeting house…aka church, was the first Black church in America. The museum exhibits change from month to month. A National Park Service ranger is your guide, and they do an hour-long tour during the week for $10. They’ll talk about abolitionism & the underground railroad, and free blacks in early years Boston. Not bad for the price, and not overrun with tourists either. It’s something you could do on a long flight layover, and still see the rest of Boston.
Frank S: Infrequent tours but well worth booking the tickets in advance and going. It’s a short tour but very informative and interesting.

VB: This was both haunting and beautiful. To know how strong our people had to be to endure what they were made to enduring. But to contrast that with the beauty of what our people created. It was sad that they did not incorporate any of this information in the other Freedom Trail tours. But we took the African-American Freedom tour and were enlightened by wonderful tour guides that were caring and compassionate. A must do when in Boston.Black Lives Matter! 💪🏽

Kay Fisher: It still looks amazing.
Jailton Rodrigues: Top!
Kevin Harinck: Boston, you love it
Jonathan Tidman: I would revisit this store for the smell alone, but never leave without a bag full.
CoizadoMTA: Loko em
Allyson Lloyd: Short but sweet.
Jose Soto: Beautiful
紀奕廷: On the Freedom Trail
Kari McMahon: Underwhelming. I only was interested in the chocolate shop, none of the historical tours yet I still had to pay the admission fee. For an $8 fee I would expect samples or more than a small bedroom sized room of limited chocolate options. Would not recommend. We paid just about as much in fees as we did in chocolate... Ridiculous.
John Fontana: Great!
Alejandro Tesei: Best place.
Dee Hatch: Delicious chocolate.
Janelle Davenport: We left laughing that we spent money to see this. The demonstration was barely anything. When it was over we couldn’t believe that was all it was. Definitely not worth seeing.
Josh Hunter: Pricey but worth it
JasonPlayzGamez: Good
Brea Jiu-Jitsu: Came 2x but closed both Hours on Google and website were not accurate
Edward Marshburn: Excellent
Victoria Hionis: This place is really neat. Really cool demonstration and unique chocolate items. Also, you don't need admission. The shop is free to enter and they have a free demonstration on how chocolate use to be made. You also get to try historic hot chocolate. Total time at the shop was about 20 min and we easily saw everything.
Lydia Zuehsow: Don’t come here when you’re in a rush; you’ll need to buy admission to Old North Church before you can enter Captain Jackson’s.
N S: They have tiny demonstration and chocolate

Boston Athenaeum: what do users think?
Bertrand BLASSEL: 10 USD pour quatre salles de ce grand bâtiment sans information à l'accueil.Isabella Stuart, magnifique, 20 USD. Oubliez l'Athenaeum.
Matthew Nason: The Boston Athenæum, a true gem in the heart of Boston, is a must-visit for bibliophiles, art lovers, and history enthusiasts alike. This exceptional institution is one of the oldest independent libraries in the United States and a treasure trove of knowledge and culture.Upon entering the stunning building, you are immediately greeted by an aura of elegance and intellectual grandeur. The architecture and design of the Athenæum are a sight to behold, with its ornate detailing, high ceilings, and sweeping staircases. The warmth of the reading rooms and the grandeur of the art galleries offer a unique experience that transcends time. The library boasts an extensive collection of books, maps, manuscripts, and artwork. From rare, historical documents to modern-day bestsellers, you'll find something to pique your interest. The staff members are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, always eager to assist with research or answer any questions. In addition to its literary offerings, the Athenæum's art collection is nothing short of spectacular. It features works from renowned artists like John Singer Sargent and Gilbert Stuart, as well as contemporary pieces from emerging talents. The rotating exhibits showcase a range of styles and themes, ensuring that there's always something new to discover. The membership option provides an even more immersive experience, granting access to exclusive events, lectures, and special collections. However, the Athenæum also offers day passes for visitors who are short on time but still want to explore this breathtaking institution.Overall, the Boston Athenæum is a unique and enriching experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. It's not just a library, but a cultural institution that embodies the city's rich history and celebrates its vibrant artistic scene. Whether you're a local or a visitor, I highly recommend dedicating some time to explore the wonders of the Boston Athenæum.
Matt A. Murphy: The Boston Athenæum is a true gem in the heart of Boston. This historic library offers an unparalleled collection of books, maps, and artwork that spans centuries. The building itself is a work of art, with its beautiful architecture, cozy ready nooks, and stunning artwork. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help. For example, my first week there I came across an old 1,000+ page old, tattered reference book I wanted peruse. A librarian noticed I was hesitant to pull it off the shelf given it was tied together with twine… she came over and reassured me that “much like her old, achy bones, books are meant to be used and I shouldn’t be afraid to pull anything I wanted.” So cool!Whether there to read, work, or just burn some time walking the stacks for random books/topics to learn about, I would highly recommend the Boston Athenæum to anyone looking for a unique and enriching experience. It's truly one of the most special places in Boston, and when you’re there you feel it and it’s collections’ long history.10/10 — it’s worth becoming a member.
Rachel Hammond: A lovely historic gem in downtown Boston. The books are phenomenal, of course, but the art is amazing too! I recently went to a show of book artists. The curator led the tour himself and the whole experience was wonderful. I look forward to going back again soon.
Hilly: Amazing museum space
Brianne McCormack: I was able to get a day pass and was it worth it! The building was amazing with all the nooks and crannies (many with comfy chairs). My only regret was not allotting more time to be here.
Andrew Remington: Fond memories of living in Boston. This is a great library. If u get a chance find yourself at the athenaeum!BRAVO!
Kelly Cambridgeport: The Art and Architecture Tour covers all the floors from 5th to basement. Cost varies from $5 to $15, depending on who you are. I paid $10 and stayed several hours afterwards. Incredibly beautiful library. I got to see the library of George Washington.
David Foxe: A far more gracious (if loquacious) entry sequence and welcome desk. Looking forward to how the newly expanded spaces are used in the future.
Ada Brown: The curator was exceptionally kind and allowed us to tag along on a full tour because he didn't want to turn us away. This is an amazing place and you should absolutely visit!
Jason Macey: This is one of the great private libraries on planet Earth. The fact that the Athenaeum allows non-members to tour the library ipso facto extraordinary.
David Kovalchik: I had been waiting to be in here for so many years! How wonderful!
Aimée Vincent Jamison: One of Boston's absolute gems. A gorgeous subscription library with lovely art. Membership is available for a reasonable annual subscription and they do offer periodic tours and events to the public. At the top of Beacon street right near the Statehouse. Step through the red doors and enter an oasis
Belle T: I always wanted to take the in person tour but it gets fill up quickly on weekends. My lucky day, 27AUG22, I got to see this historic building through the Art & Architecture Tour (1 Hr). If you like historic buildings and old books, this place will make you HAPPY like I did!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Esther Martin: This library is fabulous!
Jennifer Dantchev: Beautiful building, friendly and helpful staff!
Nicholas Rampone: Have debated membership for years, but am so grateful to now belong to this beautiful library. Aside from the showcase floors, the Athenaeum has countless nooks, perfect for indulging in a book or getting work done. Patrons are quiet and respectful; librarians are friendly and knowledgeable. If the BPL doesn't satisfy, take the plunge! I do wish the library was open on Sundays, however.
Sophia Zhang: Hidden gem in Boston. Be sure to book the art and architecture tour online in advance, best way to see the entire building. An interesting history and collection of rare books and maps, including Washington’s encyclopedia. Beautiful view out the window during fall time.
Roberto Castañeda: Raise your arms if you live this quaint first floor experience!(We see you eve and adam; Sophocles (say hi to Oed). And damsel out of marble... priceless
Walid S: First-class library with beautiful art, architecture, and a large collection of classic and new books.
