Julie Stoller: Vermiculite insulation is a nasty business. It’s found in the attics of many older homes, and most of it contains loose asbestos fibers, which can be very bad for your health. I did research and went through the testing process for W.R. Grace’s Zonolite Trust. They manufactured most of the vermiculite, which was taken from an asbestos contaminated mine, and they help you pay for abatement if it turns out it’s theirs.When I finally got around to taking care of this horrible problem, so I could comfortably use my attic without having to wear a HAZMAT suit, I called Dudley Services. By this time, I thought I was the leading vermiculite expert, but Sam from Dudley Services amazed me with his knowledge. This company knew what they were doing and could navigate all the required procedures and paperwork. They were also reasonably priced, as these things go.The guys from Dudley Services were AMAZING — especially Sammy (?), the foreman. He explained everything they were doing and was very nice and professional (as was the rest of his team). They were meticulous in setting up the elaborate work area, ensuring that I could safely stay in my house while they worked with their powerful HEPA vacuums. They arrived promptly each morning, answered all my questions and did a great job!The attic is pristine, all vermiculite and old fiberglass insulation gone, and they even got rid of a few dead mice that were up there, for which I'm eternally grateful. They did a superb cleanup afterwards. The independent air quality guy came while I had run out to the store, but he did his thing, they got the all-clear, and packed up all their gear. Sammy took "before and after" photos to submit to the W.R. Grace ZAI Zonolite Trust, as they help people go through the process of getting the rebate check (though it’s quite easy to do on their website).It’s an upsetting thing to have to go through, but it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. I highly recommend Dudley Services, especially for vermiculite abatement.

I hired Atlantic Bay after getting two quotes from other companies that didn’t come close to the knowledge or information that Atlantic Bay gave me.The crew of four came out, on time, as scheduled, showed me what they were going to do and how they were going to seal up the basement. They worked a full day and came back the next day and finished up. colleen macauley: I used this company awhile back for mold remediation in my finished basement. Allen was very knowledgeable and completed the project although caused damage to the area in the process. When tarps were hung and taped to ceilings, walls and around windows (to contain dust) there was zero concern about preserving the paint and integrity of these finished areas. As such, when the tarps and tape were taken down, the paint was all pulled up and peeled. I called Allen and spoke with him about this and his response was basically that I was informed this could happen and it’s not his responsibility. I’ve been unable to properly restore the finished areas since he completed this project.
