Trident Booksellers & Cafe: what do users think?
Freddy Guerrero: Excellent you will not be disappointed
Leah Barrows: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Krista K.: Bookstore with delicious food - what a gem! A great spot to get breakfast.
Krista and Chris Dion: Great affordable dining in a unique environment. I used to be a regular in the 90’s and was pleased to see Trident was still going strong. Healthy options as well as pure comfort food. Fabulous independent bookseller and gallery for local art. Trendy gift items and lots and lots to read with complementary wifi.
Tooba: Go-to place for a nice brunch. Plenty of seating, and is not too noisy even when the place is packed full. Service is very quick and friendly. Love the bookstore too!Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Eggs Benedict, Home Fries, Sweet Potato Fries …More
Sameeksha Tiwari: A must visit place in the very heart of the city. Loved it.
Winnie Briggs: This bookstore has been around for decades. It was a great bookstore when I was a teen and it continues to be one now! In fact, I’ve grown to appreciate it more now that I’m an adult! Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Besides books, they sell fun little “knick knacks”- perfect for gifts and stocking stuffers. Author events are held upstairs- I recently attended Caroline Kepnes’ author talk. This bookstore also has a cafe, serving hot food and drinks. 10/10. Without a doubt, one of Boston’s best independent bookstores.
Mike Fenn: Got a fun sticker book and delicious iced tea. There's even a second cafe upstairs!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Samir Abou Nassif: Great place for friends and food. The selection of books is amazingFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Daniel Zewde: One of the first bookstores I visited upon moving to Boston and it's one of the most charming places I've ever been. The food is good, service is friendly, and selection is GREAT.
Lauren Smit: I LOVE this place. Local bookstores are always a gem and this place had so many knickknacks and great independent books!Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sara Van Schaik: Quiet atmosphere on bustling Newbury Street for working, reading or meeting with someone. Range of drink and food options that are served quickly. Always love getting a seat at the counter!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Caitlin G: Got the caesar salad, but the dressing was definitely not caesar.
Jordan Mansfield: Great service, wonderful coffee, and lovely bookstore atmosphere. Get a window seat upstairs if you can!
Sereynita Sabarre-Altarejos: Nothing beats like a bookstore with a restaurant offering great food. Though it can be chaotic at times but it seems that people/customers don't seem to mind. However, if you want a real quiet place, you're better off somewhere else.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are great.Kid-friendliness: Lots of customers with kids, so it is kid friendly and they have a kids menu.
Robby Lender: It’s a nice bookstore and it’s got good food, but it’s really crowded and the books are kind of expensive. I don’t like ordering through an app.Vegetarian options: They exist, but you’ll have to figure them out yourself.Kid-friendliness: It’s very busy but there’s a kids menu. I’d take your child elsewhere if you can.Parking: There’s no parking, so if you can’t find a parking garage or street parking, good luck to you.Wheelchair accessibility: There is no visibly available elevator, but the place was so crowded that if you manage not to run over more than 8 people, you can probably find it.Dietary restrictions: Ordering is all done through an app, so you’re at the mercy of the app if your special request goes through.
Catherine Grace: I can't believe I only discovered this place in the past year. I love bookstores. This one is unique. You must stop here if you're coming through town. I went for the tarot time comedy show upstairs. I didn't end up ordering food but I enjoyed this fancy Chocolate espresso drink topped with whipped cream.
Stjepko Jančijev: Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Dan Rosen: A super cute, convenient, and speedy spot offering a variety of all-day breakfast and hearty lunch/dinner items, and stuffed inside of a delightfully crowded indie bookstore. We got the poutine and Cape Codder sandwich. The fries were decent but definitely not traditional, nor what I was actually hoping for. The fries were good enough but the mountain of shredded cheddar and stewed beef on-top (instead of duck fat gravy and cheese curds) definitely made this dish entirely one-note, falling flat almost immediately. Hot sauce helped, but the dish couldn’t really be saved. The sandwich was very tasty, with the challah bread offering a fluffy, chewy, sweet contrast to the deli turkey. However, the size of the sandwich definitely would warrant a denser sandwich; what I mean is, there wasn’t much turkey or bacon on there at all. The bread does most of the heavy lifting here, which is a shame because the teaspoon amount of cranberry mayo we tasted was excellent. They skimped out. The sandwich would also benefit from a second pickle on the plate, but I digress. It comes with chips. This is truthfully like a 3.5-3.8 star place but because of the environment and menu and service, I’ll round to 4. I’d definitely go back, but with my expectations just a bit lower than what the menu would suggest.

Brattle Book Shop: what do users think?
SuperMusicNova: 4 stars because I have my preferences but the whole vibe of the store was amazing! Especially the outside book store and the rare books and such! Felt like I was in a jk Rowling story !
Sarah Black: The Brattle Book Shop is an absolute gem. When the weather is good, they put carts of inexpensive books outside for browsers. Inside, 3 floors of used and rare books, and a staff that's knowledgeable, and never bothersome. It's a book lover's paradise
Natalie D: This is such a great little used book store close to Boston Common! Outside you'll find racks of stickered books for $3-5 (a mix of fiction and nonfiction) while inside they have different sections and topics of books (hardback has the price written inside the book, paperback on a sticker on the front cover). Always worth a look to see what they have and also take a look at the rare books which have sold too! Condition does vary like all used book stores but I think the books are priced fairly and the staff are always friendly!
Alvaro Cervera: Amazing place to browse books
Enrica Finotto: I have been there last summer, I think I spent almost 3 hours inside it, reading ancient postcards form all over the world unknown people wrote to their relatives and friends! It is a really fascinating place. Enjoy!
Mathieu De Bastos: A book worms dream, 3 floors and an outdoor section filled with all sorts of works. Worth going even if you don’t plan on buying anything.
Tetiana Shekhovtsova: Interesting Book shop
Heather Casto: Felt like the best book yard sale ever. There is no organization of books, yikes, but awesome selection and prices
Nick W: Very cool bookstore. We checked out the alley before heading inside. Some very interesting finds including Gulliver's travels (pictured). I asked how much it was out of curiosity but he didn't know off the top of his head and I didn't want to make him open the case. Worth checking out if you like books at all.
Eric Johnson: Large used bookstore with many unsorted $1 to $5 specials in an outdoor lot. You can make some great finds early on a good day.
KASTURI BARDE: Found this gem while exploring the area close to my office. They have rare, vintage books as well as sale books out in the alley. A book lover’s dream!
Ivan Corona: I was in Boston for a Business trip and I noticed this cute little library in a alley while riding an Uber to the hotel. I couldn’t even make it to the hotel, I had the Uber driver drop me off a few blocks away. For a moment I thought I wouldn’t find it again but I was lucky to find it and wow, such a cute and random experience. I spent about an hour searching the outdoor shelf’s and then went inside to check out more books and all the antiques they had inside. I brought a couple books and returned home with a cute memory.
LH: Tolle Buchhandlung mit einzigartigen Interior und super fairen Preisen.
Sharanya Sarkar: A pretty unique book store!
Karla Plascencia: Such a unique way to buy books. I really like the fact is outdoors. It has a big variety of books at a cheap price.
brian holzhausen: Cool place to look at books.
Alex Terrero: Me gusta mucho este lugar. Bueno para comer y hacer la compra.
Josh Roberts: Delightful bookstore, all sorts of fantastic used books.
Sònia Díaz: Llibreria amb molts llibres de segona mà a preus excepcionals. Hi trobes autèntiques joies.
Brendan Deeney: Wonderfully unique bookstore with a lot of history, and a great collection of books. One of the best parts of Brattle is the outdoor, discounted book selection that they set up in their spare lot next to the store. Racks and racks of $1,$3,$5 books to browse on a nice day is a wonderful way to kill an hour. Highly recommend you stop by and see for yourself!!
Terry Wendelken: Another good stop to look for a book in Boston. You can turn around and lose two hours in this place so look out! The outdoor books is a good stroll.

Barnes & Noble: what do users think?
Maria Capuano Iraci: Great for BU gear
Doug Griffith: There is a good selection of BU items, especially clothing. They also have cups, mugs, notebooks, etc. Prices are what you'd expect--fairly high. The main floor has most of the clothes, especially men's; upstairs has a bit more, and that is mostly women's, plus some clearance racks for both men and women. Clearance prices are good if you can find something you like in your size.
laura wegs: Sizes are way off and return process costs $20! So you lose money and don't get a product that fits. Amazon will take over because of this type of business
Leonard Mosca: I've always liked Barnes and nobles bookstore they have amazing selections of books and games and strategy guides well they used to at least and they have so many other things in there which makes it all around kind of shop for books magazines and anything you can think of you won't be disappointed and the online catalog has amazing selections
Hari Subramanian: Like someone else said in reviews, it is a BU merchandise store with a small collection of books, not at all a typical B&N. BU Merchandise is generally overpriced, especially the above-average apparel is. Not sure if the overprice is a function of B&N corporate or BU business team or both
박해나파: Unkind
Claudia Romanczukiewicz: Loved visiting the bookstore at Boston University.
Kit Parker: I remember when University bookstores used to be a pretty cool place to go and visit. Now it's just a sweatshirt store with stationary
Jeffrey Marquez: Went for BU gear
Margaux Ilyse Krembs Epter: cute bookstore! lots of options
Wulida Wahidatul Masruria: Niceee store
#becausedan: Official BU merchandise. And book store with supplies.
Aisha Gi: Lovely place with great products
Ed M: More of a souvenir shop really
Beatriz Cóbreces: Although they didn't have the book I was looking for, the shop is nice, well stocked & the member of staff that helped me was professional, kind & knowledgeable!
Kristine Schmalenberg: All the merch you could want
Betsy Camacho: Muy bien clasificado y encontré los libros q mis hijas querían, feliz.
Ann Duffy: Lots of BU stuff but definitely overpriced.
Juan M. Berthin: Good store, excellent customer service!!
Dino Quintero: Thank you. I enjoyed visiting and purchasing a few souvenirs.
LIANG LIANG: Nuce

Harvard Book Store: what do users think?
Nicole Kna Po: It was a dream to be in this bookstore. Really beautiful 😍
Anee: Best bookshop
Randall Cook: Large, richly-stocked bookstore in the heart of Cambridge. It's an institution packed floor to ceiling with great titles. Definitely worth a peek if you like books.
Eric Lazarian: This store is on my short list of used book stores in Cambridge and I usually use this if I can't find something online, but it has been a while since I've actually been inside. I was tagged because I walked by it the other day and I really like this place as they are very good at special orders and they also have a way of doing print on demand books. At least last time I was there they did and it's very handy for that as well. And they also of course have a good selection of just new books as they come out. It's not my number one store but I am willing to give it a five-star rating and it's one of the better ones out there.
C Ertan: So brilliant, lots of LGBTI+ books on display
Nima Dehghani: Iconic independent bookstore....one of my havens to go to on a rainy day or a shiny day, winter or spring, noon or late evening.... knowledgeable and helpful staff, lots of wonderful author events.
Jose Foppiani: The Harvard Bookstore is my go-to spot for books – they've got everything from brainy reads to guilty pleasures. It's super cozy, and the staff know their stuff, always ready to recommend a great page-turner. And hey, those author events and talks are pretty cool too!
Sneha Nagarajan: Nice! A got a book
Kit Parker: I'm grateful that this store is still open.
Ruth Ann McKalip: Mostly clothes. Friendly efficient students at the register
Frank Laske: I've been a member here forever. I love supporting independent booksellers and this store is so great they make it easy. Wide selection of books. Discounts on the 'nifty fifty's, plenty of remainders and used books. Add in author readings! A lot to like!
Fathia Glaoui: Muy interesante
Joe Bauza: An extremely expensive experience barely anything less than 40.00. Caters to the 1 percent
白河310: ハーバード大学の生協と間違えて訪問しました。本の品揃えがすごくて、外から見ても楽しげな雰囲気です。知的好奇心が満たされる素敵な空間でした。
Christian Scott: Love the used section in the basement, real browsers haunt, dogs allowed. Some kid and gift items. Been there forever and still relevant
Magali Bertolazzi Vezzaro: Incontournable, c est sûr !Toujours présent malgré le temps qui file..... j adore et recommande avec les yeux du coeur
Mary Clark: Friendly staff, expansive new and used book collection, great range of topics/genres as well as select greeting cards and other items. Harvard book store is one of my favorite places to go when I need to get out of the house and do something enjoyable, because it’s easy to get lost in the aisles and spend hours here. They also have a rewards system!
Julieta Guajardo: I think it is a good place!
EvilNogard: An excellent independent book store! This place has all the hidden gem books you can imagine and has an offbeat vibe. This is a conveniently placed shop that is probably the closest you can get to magic.
ismail genç: 👍
Sara Naegele: Wow just wow! Visit this lovely bookstore in Cambridge!

Commonwealth Books: what do users think?
Ali Kazimi: Pricey but fun
Kelly Crandall: It was an interesting place with a lot of old maps and some pretty cool books. A lot of older books with some unique things. The man working seemed nice but also busy with something other than the books. Overall, not bad if you want to see some old books.
taylor richardson: Excited to find a new book store to find some old design and film photography books until the guy working was rude. Didn’t bother to say hi, ask if I needed help, etc. but was sure welcoming to the other people who came in after me. Spend your money at another book store that actually welcomes their guests who get excited to go in and buy something.
pjs: Great book store off the road in a lovely alley. Excellent selection of rare and unique books.
E. S.: If you're going to get lost anywhere, get lost in here. It's the one place I want to be in a zombie apocalypse. Heaven.
Brit: Wonderful bookstore with uncommon finds and enough substance to satisfy all your esoteric musings
Michael Skvarla: Stopped in 7 or 8 years ago and loved it, one of the best unscheduled stops of our visit to the point that I still remember it
Rob G: This is a very interesting antique book store.
Josh Roberts: So many interesting books, great selection to check out
Paxton Thayer: Cute little shop. Can get crowded quickly if busy, but on a little brick street and overall a cool place. The maps there are also interesting!
Jade Gonzalez: Great little used bookstore with unique editions. We just came to peruse but you could easily spend hours in here. Only downside is we didn’t get to see the cat 😢
Caroline DeBrota: Lovely old bookstore with a bunch of maps and old prints as well. Prices seem reasonable. You are welcome to browse, which is nice.
Howard Khan: Amazing place. Love it!
Jenitza Camacho: Hidden gem!
Project Hu148: Great used bookstore
Alex: old books galore. if books older than you are is your thing this is the place to go
Jose Luis: Muy interesante tienda, hay infinidad de libros, realmente puedes encontrar lo que buscas y algo interesante. Lo recomiendo
Arthurious: One of the few true rare + antique bookstores with a lovely selection of hard-to-find titles on all subjects. I enjoyed the art & design section quite a bit.Through the store, you'll find many original old prints as well, including maps and 19-century illustrations.
Subhankar Pal: Didn’t purchase anything here, but seemed like a gem of a store. Lots of antique books at reasonable prices.
Kelley and Christine Carter: Super cool place
Kip Keith: My long-time favorite used bookstore in Metropolitan Boston, period. A little hard to find, but absolutely worth the trouble. Latest finds: a biography of Henry Knox and a collection of Franz Kafka short stories. Vintage prints and some comic books, too.

Nicole Gunn: I absolutely love this bookstore! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The store is beautiful with a welcoming vibe. Shop small and support Black Businesses.
Martin Dias: Frugal Bookstore is a community resource. If you do not want community then go somewhere else. If you are eager to see others, like you, in a quest for increasing knowledge then definitely come.Even have a children's section.
Nia DeYounge: Amazing selection of books for and by people of color!
Yvonne Adams: I cannot say enough great things about Frugal Bookstore. The store is the BEST, and Clarrissa and Leonard are the BEST-EST! I could spend hours and hours here, and they have wonderful things in addition to books. They're so accommodating and helpful (Leonard always insists on carrying my books out to my car when I have a big, heavy boxful) and I look forward to every trip there.
Aaron Bremner: Wide selection of books for all ages.
Rocco Pigneri: Wonderful book store. Great selection. Will order anything that they do not carry. Always pleased with the experience. They also have a wide variety of gift cards for any occasion.
Wamuyu Thoithi: Beautiful bookstore; great collection of books (esp by Black authors/ editors/ Black stories). Friendly staff!

Maanav Thakore: Frugal is an absolute gem. Their children’s section is the best I’ve ever seen. Buy your books here instead of making billionaires rich. They have a great selection and can order anything you need. Their staff are amazing, and their love of books is infectious.
Evelyn Marie Gonzalez: This bookstore has to be my favorite local bookstore. They have a wide variety of books, but my absolute favorite section is the children’s book section, and that is not only because I am a teacher! They have such a large variety of books on display, including new releases, which you might think is surprising for a small, local shop. They are also always so friendly here, every time I go! They ask if I need help, but they also give me my space when I tell them I am just browsing. They are also always willing to order books to the store if it isn’t something they have in stock. I have also ordered online from them during the pandemic, and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences! Also, on street parking has always been extremely easy, as it is on a large, main road. Every time I’ve gone there, I’ve gotten parking right out front! I 100% recommended this book shopping experience!
Jason Williams: First black own book store I have ever been in. The owner has so much love for what he does.
Christopher Calliste: A place where something about everything can be found
Laurie Singletary: Excellent small book shop with groovy gifts, friendly staff, and good prices!
DenyseB Bardouille: The Frugal Book Store is a breath of new and fresh air to the community! So excited to have it in the heart of Nubian Sq (formerly Dudley Sq.-around the corner from the old Nubian Notion.)The books are so unique and wonderfully filled with children of color having adventures and doing exciting things that children do. Exposure to these gems is a must for your children from infant to young adult,.They have Spanish and English stories combined and many ethnic arts and crafts. Treat yourself and pop in to see our bookstore in the heart of Roxbury.Denyse Bardouille
Michael Tucker: I love going there keeping up-to-date reading and mingling in the community talking about going on!!
Che Robinson: If your looking for good authors ofgreat urban stories, and any other Chandra of books from Syfy to fiction nonfiction cookbooks go check it out. Fair prices staff. Brookline Booksmith: what do users think?
Pack 50 Milk Street: Always lovely to be here. I love the environment of this bookstore. There are also many souvenirs selling here.
Jay Prajapati: Very spacious and quiet place, you can also read your books inside
annie r: simply the best bookstore in the boston area 3 such a fantastic and well-curated selection of books & gifts, adorably decorated, and in a lovely area of boston. highly recommend this store!
pablo molina: Place is amazing. Great collection of books, and souvenirs.staff always ready to help find what you’re looking for.
Duc Hoang: NGUYỄN PHAN QUẾ MAI BROUGHT ME HERE!!
Liz Vincensi: Absolutely love this store and the community they've created. They have a great selection of not just books but also gifts, and employees are super helpful. What prompted me to write a review though was actually ordering online!I've since moved away from the area, so this week I decided after finishing the first book in a series digitally, to order the next two in a physical copy. I checked my local B&N to go pick it up since I was eager to keep reading, they didn't have it in the store, so I decided if I was ordering online anyway, I'll check out Brookline Booksmith.I placed my online order for two books that were listed as not in stock at the store on March 27th. They have been delivered to my house by today, March 30th! That means they were ordered to the store, sent to the store, then made it to my home on the north shore in record time. The automatic communication was great too to keep me up to date.So even if you need a book shipped to you fast - you don't need to turn to the big online guys, stick with the Booksmith!
Lauren Renfro: The Booksmith is a magical place 📚it’s my favorite place to find new stories, and if I can’t find what I’m looking for, the staff are always super helpful locating or ordering the title. It’s nigh on impossible to walk out with just one book, and I find myself browsing the aisles on the regular. So many options! I appreciate the displays of books relevant to current events, and the ‘bookseller recommendation’ tags are awesome- I’ve actually found a few I ended up loving because of the tags! The used book cellar is pretty robust so definitely check that out! I love the expanded gifts section and how much space there is for exploring.
Greg Haas: Great bookstore with everything you couldn't think of. Shop local.
Oliver: One of my favorite independent bookstores ever! Love the vibe in here.
Erin Caldwell: Great, large local bookstore with a nice title selection as well as gifts.
Ashlee Ya: Can easily spend hours here. My favorite bookstore in Boston!
Josh Roberts: Fantastic selection and location, nicely laid out with tons of current and older titles. New stuff and all sorts of miscellaneous goods on the first floor, used books in the basement.
Brian Fox: Best bookstore in the country. Period. Go here, and support this amazing place. So lucky we have this!
Kristin Mb: Great selection of books, new and used. Even the used books are curated so no junky books to sort through. Lots of great discounted books, and a cute gift shop as well. I love and appreciate their online and in-person events too.
Alex Albert: I could spend hours and hours here…and I have! One of my favorite places
Brooke Sutton: Favorite bookstore in Boston!
Jesse Dexter: Best bookstore in the country!
Elias D: The finest bookstore around, as far as I'm concerned! I also do like Papercuts in JP, but in this neighborhood, BB is THE place for books, gifts, used books downstairs, journals, and all sorts of cute gifts! It's a wonderfully-organized store with caring employees and book lovers; filled with recommendations and descriptions. Usually busy but flows well. You can easily spend an hour just looking at everything here. Go support them. ❤️
Winnie Lee: My favorite bookstore! Huge selection and well organized. Also a great spot to get gifts.
Isabel Fontes: Big, and well organized bookstore with well informed and helpful staff. There are so many book and gifts to choose from. It does get very busy during the holidays but the staff stay positive and take their time to make recommendations or help you find a book.
Dianne Kaeli: Pretty good book selection with some good bargain selections. Browsing the gift items is enjoyable. You likely will not leave empty-handed.

I AM Books: what do users think?
John Quatrale: This book store has everything including a terrific mail ordering platform. Wonderful place to enjoy Italian culture through books.
Shannon Kelly: Super cute little book store, small selection of generally popular books but mostly very focused on Italian literature (in both English and Italian). They also have some nice North End/Boston trinkets like magnets, tea towels, prints, etc. as well as greeting cards and stationary. Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the neighborhood!
Danielle D'Ambrosio: My go-to spot to grab a cookbook on a Sunday afternoon or a special last-minute housewarming gift. A array of books in English and Italian. Handmade cards for every occasion, in English and Italian. Live readings and music regularly. Most importantly, this place is what the North End is all about— community. I AM Books never forgets to call and let me know that they set aside a copy of the new Cucina Italiana magazine. I’ve come to look forward to that call of kindness every month. This place is like no other bookstore. It’s my new favorite destination in the city. It is so clear that the owner, Nicola, has poured his heart and soul into this bookshop. The same with the staff— the kindest people I’ve ever met. I AM Books is providing this community with a special place for the mind to graze and people to gather. This place IS community. By far the best bookstore in our beautiful city.
donna-marie carifio: InvitingKnowledgeableConvenientGreat choices
Sarah Black: Wonderful neighborhood bookstore (no big-chain energy), with a great selection of read-worthy titles, in English and Italian
Carmine Borrelli: Wonderful book store for everything Italian
Jennifer K: I finally made it to the new location in person, and it's beautiful! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Order online and join their newsletter!
Brian Widerman: This is the best bookstore I've visited recently. They have an excellent selection of books in Italian, as well as English translations of Italian authors. There are also sections for cookbooks, children's books, and general fiction/new releases. I was able to find several great books and some unique gifts for other book lovers back at home. I loved visiting this store and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
R. Spadini: Employees (as well as the owner himself) went absolutely above and beyond to arrange to very quickly ship a workbook that my son needed for his college Italian class in Washington, DC. The next time I am in Boston, I will definitely be giving them my business in person! Thank you!
Charles Lee: I like to read in Italian and living in the US makes it hard to keep up with what I like and what’s new. I’m really grateful to these guys because when I first moved here I used to have to ask my very patient relatives to go buy me books and ship them from Italy. Now Iambooks are my patient relatives and the books come much faster. I’m sure my aunt is as grateful to them as I am.They will even source books from Italy that they don’t have on hand. I now want to visit Boston just to see their store in person
oo-: Lovely kids book and postcards
Mark Alcarez: Cool Italian bookstore in the heart of the North End.
Elina DeVos: Lovely little neighborhood bookstore with excellent curation, really nice selection of greeting cards, and nicest staff.
Joel L: Very helpful and friendly staff
A Girl: This bookstore is so amazing, it's almost unreal. Itallian and English language books. Very impressive children's, travel, culinary, and translation sections. Even Boston-specific titles. Absolutely unique, impeccably curated, in a beautiful, airy, modern space. Tourists and locals alike will find something surprising on each visit. The space itself is perfect: large enough to accommodate a treasure trove of titles, with enough room to breathe when it is busy, but not so big as to be overwhelming or impersonal.I cant say enough good things about this literary jewel. A must for any book lover or Italophile.
Michaela Shtilman-Minkin: Super cute bookshop. Italian-focused, but there are a lot of books also in English, including some great cookbooks. Loads of super cute & indie greeting/birthday/etc cards. Jessica is really nice and knowledgeable of the North End.
Emmy Rainwalker: Great selection of books of all sorts. A feast! Warm and friendly place.
Sandra sonnichsen: Form the Golbe, Sunday July 25:“A bookstore returnsIn August of last year, the owners of I AM Books, the Boston independent bookstore that celebrates Italian and Italian-American heritage and literature, announced they’d be shuttering their brick-and-mortar store as the result of the pandemic. When they announced the closure they promised to work to find a new, larger home for the bookstore when the time was right. They kept their business going online in the meantime, and have now made good on their promise to find a new home for the store. Owners Nicola Orichuia and Jim Pinzino recently announced they’ll be re-opening the shop at a new location in the North End this fall. “It is our neighborhood,’’ wrote Orichuia, “and there is no other place in the world where I AM Books can and should belong.’’ The storefront at 124 Salem Street is triple the size of the previous location, with a sweeping bank of windows along the sidewalk of one of the North End’s main drags. Orichuia and Pinzino opened I AM Books in 2015, and besides selling books, hosted a number of readings, concerts, film screenings, as well as started an annual two-day cultural festival of books and ideas.”
William Wilson: The background
Pam McNamara: Love this bookstore. Fun to browse thru the Italian-American authors & the staff picks. Cute gift items in the store too. Great gifts for family. Friendly and helpful staff.
Stephanie Tyler Smith: Fun to pop in there around the Paul Revere house

The Boston Shaker: what do users think?
Kathleen Norton: A really fun night at their Cocktail class. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. We mixed a daiquiri and an old fashioned. I was fascinated to learn about bitters and the vast array they have in stock. I have ordered stuff from them in the past online, fast and professional service. I highly recommend!
Devin Salmon: The guy here was super knowledgeable about their products, where they are produced, and of course what to mix the large variety of bitters they have in.
karina bedoya-ross: Love this place! Me and my friend were walking by and stopped in because it was cute. We ended up learning about liquor/bitters/glasses and more! Would def recommend to someone who likes mixology vibes or even decorating your glassware / bar set. They had so many mixing spoons as well and recipe books.
andrea marcos: Hands down the best cocktail store we’ve ever seen ;-)
Christopher Compton: Really unique store. The inventory is well thought-out. This is the place to go to set yourself up as a bartender! The bitters bar is cool as well, and the staff member who served us at the bitters bar was passionate about the different flavor profiles that are provided by the products.
Christina Rosenthal: Super helpful nice people, awesome selection and you can sample everything before you buy. I love everything I got and will be back soon! They also exchange Sodastream canisters
Jesse Lane: Great selection, especially of bitters and books! And incredibly knowledgeable staff
Zachary Gardner: Excellent products! The gentleman in charge of the shop told me off for “not knowing what I wanted,” even though I came in and showed an exact picture of the kit I wanted from the website. Summary: great products, passive aggressive customer service.
Krystian Zawodniak: Incredibly friendly and helpful, items sold are of high quality and they explain where your dollar goes (e.g. why does this stirrer cost $10 and the other $20). I bought a gift set for a friend and I regret not keeping it for myself.
Frank Gillett: They have a great collection of tools, ingredients, and books if you are interested in exploring options and ideas to spice up your cocktails. And they’ve always got opinions and guidance if you like chatting with somebody about making more of your cocktails at home.
Robert Griffith: Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in picking out gifts for my friends and family. I needed gifts for both novice and experienced bartenders, and they had perfect options for both. They also have an excellent selection of bitters that they will walk you through and suggest options based on your liquor and flavor preferences. Incredibly kind and helpful staff!
conor denehan: The best place for getting bitters, bar tools, books, glassware, and everything in between!
Monica Desiree: Ordered a set of boston shaker and Luxardo maraschino cherries for a Christmas gift. Unfortunately they sent the wrong cherries and I didn't find out until I had given it to the recipient since the product was wrapped very neatly in brown paper bag. I emailed customer service and they're sending me the correct product. Appreciate the quick resolution and will definitely be purchasing from them again.
John McCarthy, D.C.: Purchasing your supplies from Lonnie at The Boston Shaker you bring home more then just the items, you get the value of priceless knowledge on what/how/where/when to do with your new home bar supplies. Lonnie and the staff are top notch professionals in mixology and well known in the Boston Spirits & Cocktails scene. More then just a store, Lonnie & The Boston Shaker are an integral piece of the community fabric that make up Davis Square. Thank you Lonnie!
Meg Dahl: Amazing spot for a local bartender. I get all my tools here as well as try fun bitters. They offer classes for those budding bartenders or for those who just want to entertain. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly too
Doug F: What a great spot! Helpful staff will find you exactly what you’re looking for. Bitters tasting bar is a lot of fun too!
Frederic Yarm: Convenience & quality. Perfect for home enthusiasts and pro-bartenders alike.
Tom Sli: 5 Star service! So glad I found this place. The online store is awesome with a great selection, good prices and fast shipping. Thank you!
Razza: This place is the place to go to if you are a bartender or aspire to be one. The tool selection is great. The book selection is fantastic. And the customer service is phenomenal. The owner remembers his regulars and take great pride in his customer service and his staff is just as invested as he is. No other place in Massachusetts tops this one! Highly recommended!!
Bertie Wright: Took a cocktail class here last night (8/31/2018) and was very impressed with the knowledge of the teacher, Anthony. I thoroughly enjoyed expanding my cocktail knowledge and the drinks we made were better than I've ever made at home. Would recommend to anyone and will likely be coming back at a future date for another one.
James Dean: Excellent location for craft cocktail supplies and general cocktail guidance. They are friendly and will help with your cocktails.
