Walden Local Butcher Shop: what do users think?
Jack Moldave: Fantastic store and service. The butcher store is great, but I also subscribe to the shares that get delivered to my apartment once a month. I cannot recommend this place more! It's fantastic.
William Skarbinski: Great place. Great selection and great staff. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable in their products
Richard Bruno: If you’re looking for locally sourced meats this is the place.yuppies and need a dancing monkeys, youyou know where to go
Burak ÖZTURAN: Nice
Matt Cole: I've never had a bad experience here, after years of being a member of their monthly meat subscription service, and buying all of my special holiday meal mains here. Whoever thinks the staff is unfriendly must have been having a bad day.
Patrick Williams: Always super high quality product with friendly and knowledgeable staff
Jordan Vallinino: Freshest and tastiest meat around. The quality is far superior to any other option and the ability to pre-order custom cuts is awesome. I won’t be going anywhere else.
Juan Carlos P: Getting meat from walden is one of the best things we have done so far when it comes to quality, price and service. We started with the basic order and after few months we increased to something unique to what we really need. The eggs are the freaking best but also the beef stock, hearts, livers and tongue if you feel like experimenting with textures and flavors profiles . Or the chicken taste like a chicken should taste like...I can't buy meat at the regular stores now since the color and flavor of walden is just the closest thing I had to when I use to raise my own cows, chicken and pigs. Thank you for creating something very well needed and I will support you business and send more people your way. Cheers. I am hungry now.
Samuel Lockwald: Great butcher shop, accepts requests!!!
Karen Yee: Great products and knowledgeable staff. Loved their sausage making class!
James Florentine: Very clean
D hautot: Awesome meat - unfriendly staff that ruins the experience
Jacob Swe: Best quality and prices in the Boston area. They were super helpful in making sure I got exactly what I needed, and had a pretty great wine and beer pairing section as well. It’s so refreshing to see a whole animal butcher, feels like the meat is respected and extremely high quality. For such a great service, the prices are also similar if not lower than at chain supermarkets. There’s no where else I am going to be buying my meat from now on.
Jeff Riley: Superb cuts of meat. Along with great knowledge service.
Ryan Gorman: Great place. The prices are very reasonable and everything I've bought has been great. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
Jim Infantino: I trust this place.
Malaina Saha: Thank you, Walden Local! My dog loves his Beef Knuckle bone!! They are so friendly and helpful in here. I had a quick conversation with the butcher but left knowing I will be back soon because of how nice they were!
Kyle Jean: Love it!
Ethan Farris: First, I reserved a specific piece of meat that was then given to someone else. Then reserved a second piece of meat that was not ready by the time initially promised to me. Not sure what the hype is about this place, but go elsewhere! Better meat and service is close by.
Anastasia Yefremova: I used to be part of their monthly subscription option, which is how I got introduced to them, and was super excited to hear they're opening a brick-and-mortar location! They have fabulous cuts, always super-seasonal (which is their whole thing, keeping it local and sustainable). They also have eggs, sausages, condiments and jams, all great, local New England stuff. You always get inspired when you go there, and the people behind the counter are very helpful with suggestions, advice, and recipe ideas.
Luke Turner: Great approach to food, top quality meat and the staff always provide good advice on new cuts to try.

Savenor's Butcher Shop & Market: what do users think?
Michael DiBona Sr: The best meats on Boston, service is always outstanding
Francesca Gordini: Best place for veal, livers and all the odd meats you might think of.It's also the go-to place for exquisite pork lard!!Julia Childs favorite butcher is still the top place where to shop for meat. I wish rabbit meat was cheaper.
Tobias Herrmann: So many amazing and exotic products. Quality is top notch. Every time we buy a steak here, it turns out so much better than meat from the supermarket. Pricey, but defenitely worth it!!!
Lona Lane: I live in Chicago and a friend Wes told me about Bostons, Your meat is some of the BEST I’ve ever tasted since I left Louisiana. Thank you for sharing your talent with the community. God Bless Your much deserved accolades❣️
Rachel Hammond: Savenor’s is the ideal artisan market. They have the basics that you need, but they also have the special things that you want and can’t find elsewhere, from local dairy products to cuts of Wagyu beef. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. And I really love that they have the best products without being pretentious. I’ll definitely be back.
joe hourihan: This place is rather expensive so be prepared for that, but I find it difficult to find anything else that cares as much as they do to find the best quality product. If they don't have something they will go out of their way to find it
Joseph Doyle: Love this place. Widest selection of meats and best quality. Staff at butcher counter is really helpful. Produce is also better quality than normal grocery stores.
Peter Hey (RV PLANET): Small grocery store in high end neighborhood. Julia Child's shopping food store, as they show it in their wall pictures... did not buy anything, but comments about the items are good.
Belle T: I upgraded my 2 ⭐️ to 5 🌟 as they do listen to the voice of customer!!! There are new baskets to put the groceries and I go on the weekends for my meat 🥩 🍗 🦆 supply!!! Plus, I love their gelato 🍧 selections!!! 👍👍 In addition, the butchers are really nice and friendly._________________________________________I love this gourmet grocery in my neighborhood. They have very good quality meats and maybe varieties! However, I gave it 2 stars because they charge a lot more for good quality produce but have horrible damaged metal baskets. I got a deep cut on my finger from one of the broken metal pieces from the basket. I just hope it doesn’t cause tetanus!!! Pls make your shopping environment safe for your customers. Replace the damaged metal baskets with a plastic baskets instead.
Tony Campagna: I don't know where they source their beef, but it's absolutely top grade. One of the tenderest, most perfectly marbled, buttery delicious ribeyes that I've ever had. Also the most beautiful asparagus on the shelf every time. A little pricier, but if you want better quality you're going to pay for it. There's a microchip shortage, after all.
Steven Le: Amazing experience every time. I choose Savenor’s because the butchers are always so thoughtful and knowledgeable. I began my journey of cooking more elevated dishes this year, and because of a specialty butcher like Savenor’s I was able to find access to cuts of meat not offered at regular grocery stores. If you need a good reason to try Savenor’s hear this; I called tonight to see if they had duck legs left and when hearing about the dish I was planning they said,”Oh you’re the one who was doing the ramen broth right?”. This was in fact true, two months ago and they still remembered me. Beyond knowledge and quality product, the butchers connect as much as they can to their clientele and that means the world to me.
Craig Mullins: Yum
Freddie: I will say it is a tad bit expensive but worth every penny. These butcher's are pros! They have plenty of excellent options pre-cut, but for example if you want a ribeye or NY strip or wagyu cut to your precious preference they will happily cut (and trim) any cut you like! They also have a great selection of local veggies and herbs as well as imported goods. It's a small local store, you will NOT find anything USDA Choice here, prime + only! Also their sausage and Irish bangers and the best I've had in the city!
Jake Cohen: Closed all day Sunday 🤔🤔
G A: A great high quality butcher shop with a knowledgeable staff. There is a wide variety of frozen exotic meats available. There are cheeses and bread for sale. I haven’t found the best produce there and some of the wares like crackers are quite expensive, but Savenor’s is definitely worth a visit. The ducks legs, sausage, and pork fat we got for cassoulet was all top tier.
Skyler Wallace: For a small shop, they have an amazing selection of meat. They have a small produce and cheese selection as well, but the star is definitely the meat. I ended up grabbing a ham sandwich, which was very good. They use high quality ingredients that make the price woth it. Definitely check it out if you are in the area, I'm definitely going back to grab some wagu beef.
John Doyle: Very helpful staff, coupled with excellent produce!
Rafael Marinez: This store is awesome. Very extensive stock . Some many items for every one.
Angeliquc Smith: The market is convenient but the cashier is very rude doesn't know how to deal with people in a polite manner. Why does she even need to operate the cash register if she doesn't like people or should I say "certain people"? I thought it just may have been once or twice but every experience has been awful because of that cashier.
Mrs G: Their homemade Friday Fried Chicken is hands down the best I have ever eaten - it was bone licken' good!
Nicole Wood: It's open now! Only 4 customers at a time

Sulmona Meat Market: what do users think?
Ethan L: A Great place to make money (or the opposite), my partner said. Customers are standing in the store - appeared to wait in line, but, the 2 employees did not have any meat to work with. just standing around, too. How so? 😁No MEAT or any refrigerators, It appeared they were waiting for the white door to open to enter.
Timothy Heller: Ordered 5lb @$10 a lb of custom made jalapeno cheddar sausage to cook on my pit smoker. Great sausage blend, guys at the shop are great and easy to work with, happily made me something they've never sold before. Will be using them for all my bbq needs.
Gerry Kelly: I love Sulmona meat market! Everything is cut to order and the best quality! I wont buy meat anywhere else!
Rudy Ferrante: This place is the absolute best!
Vincent D: The best butcher in town. I travel from Portland Maine to buy the sausages and veal. Porchetta is amazing as well. Old school butcher who actually tenderizes the meat for you. I Love it here.
Ricky Brooman: Love this place! Great meats and phenomenal butcher
Al Capone: Excellent place for meats.
Rich R: Old school Italian butcher shop. Excellent sausage and hand trimmed meats. I travel from NH to buy in bulk here. Love it!
Maryanne Chessey: This is a real "butcher shop!" Meat is exceptional, and the people there are great. They only take cash, and they aren't cheap, but they only sell the best. I can't recommend highly enough!
Kelly Fink: They grind your beef right in front of you. They Cut your meat to your specifications. Very very fresh high quality meat at a great price. They wrap your meat in biodegradable paper instead of plastic and styrofoam. Once you buy your meat here you’ll say goodbye to grocery store meat forever.
Annemarie Dwyer: I recently visited Boston and came across Sulmona Meat Market. This is the best place to get meat! They have great service, helpful, and very social. They are very down to earth people. They represent the Italian culture greatly, and have great environment. You really need to check it out!
Amy Ford: No one even acknowledged me, the shelves were empty, and I never received service. The guy just stayed on the phone cutting his meat, occasionally glancing at me over the course of 5 minutes. I walked out.
Michele Topor: I just feasted on their new Pugliese sausage. Oh my, what a treat. You must visit their shop!
Rachael Ringenberg: Make their own porchetta and pancetta.
Paul Santinelli: The best and last standing of the true Italian butchers!
Josh Yankell: Fantastic meat selection that are high quality. Most of the meat is stored in the meat locker and not displayed, so just ask for what you want. Highly recommend their Italian sausage!
Jayne Heggen: A great "real" butcher shop. Have been searching for years! We go nearly every week. Amazing quality, customized prep of your order, friendly atmosphere.Love this market. Could sit and watch orders being prepared all day :)

The Butcher Shop: what do users think?
paul murphy: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Greg B.: What was once a great Barbara Lynch restaurant is now gone. Unfortunately, the Butcher Shop is just a shadow of its former past. This restaurant used to be my cozy go to spot for steak and meat in general. I was able to go for the first time after the pandemic and it had nothing to do with the restaurant I knew (I have been coming here for over a decade, several times a year).Let's start from the positive, the staff. The only reason I left more than one star its because of them. So kind, courteous, and well prepared. From the people that greet you, to the waitress to the bus team. With all that is going on in the place they do a great job to make sure customers are taken care of.The meat fridges and the high tables are gone to make room for more and more tables. Probably too many that the space could accomodate. This translates in tables being cleared and dishes with silverware being placed in trays next to you. Which created constant unpleasant noises throughout the meal. As well as possibly the kitchen being overwhelmed. The wait was quite frankly unbearable, we ordered at 7:15 and our appetizers showed up one hour later... The bone marrow was overcooked and over salted, the grilled bread was cold. The burger was cooked perfectly to be honest (medium-rare). However the meat was burned all around, you could basically taste the overwhelmingly bitter flavor through every bite. The fries like the bread and the marrow where cold and soggy.Dessert, chocolate mousse, was good.I hope they get their act together once again and go back to their former glory. The Butcher Shop used to be a gem in the South End.
Ryan: Great brunch service, great atmosphere and food.
Dimetrius: Great vibe. I was on a dinner date and our waitress Shelbow was amazing, genuine, and professional! Great food too!
Graeme Dennis: Excellent food. Loved the beef fillet. Large wine list, with a few good specials. Intimate dining. Attentive staff.
C Hill: Fantastic waitstaff! Thank you so much for assisting my date tonight. I appreciate it. I loved the Greek wine, French Pinot equiv, the onion soup and moist duck! The duck was really good! The chicken pot pie was my second choice. I will return here soon.Recommended dishes Duck Fat Donut, Seared Foie Gras, Onion Soup …More
James Morley: I dined here NYE with a prix fixe menu and the service was a mess. To start, getting someone to greet you was a challenge, the staff seemed to have no idea who was seating people.Once seated, the service really did not improve. It took an extremely long time for everything and anything to arrive at the table. Ill spare you all the specifics of every wait time but the wrong bottle of wine was brought to our table, which happens - but it took an additional 10 minutes to get the correct one.For the most part, the food was delicious except for the rib eye was aggressively salty for everyone. They really need to get their act together with regard to service, I don’t mind a nice leisurely dinner but 3 1/2 hours is unacceptable.
Andreas Apostolopoulos: Et voila! The best duck entree we've had to date! Truly scrumptious and decadent portion, with what felt like half a duck, crispy skin perfectly prepared. The honey squash forming almost a perfect velvety sauce for the duck highlighted by the cranberry orange relish also provided on the plate. The mouthfeel was extraordinary, a divine combination of duck confit and crispy skin duck as you often see prepared at high end restaurants. Wrapped in the velvety squash sauce, truly something to write home about! The cassoulet was in fact better than the one I've tried in Paris (and yes in Paris it was far from a touristic zone where I tried it). True countryside French soul cooking right there! The bone marrow entree was also spectacular and surprising...we hadn't tried anything quite like it prior! It's almost like the essence of beef in all it's glory, spreadable in crusty bread! Uhhh, yum!Wine choices were eclectic and delicious!Excellent job, Butcher Shop!
Belladonna Blunt: This review is purely based on service & I don’t care enough to go into a 5 paragraph rant. Just that their bartender/waitress is horrific and should consider a career outside the service industry.
Luke Doyne: Over-rated in my opinion. From server to experience, everything was average. Maybe an off night.
Mike Topolinsky: This small restaurant was Amazing ! Seriously one of the best steaks I have ever had. Late dinner outside. Perfect portions and just delicious.
Marco Ugolotti: Good food but wayyyyyy too expensive … this was a $300 for 2 people. This is not a top resturant where you spend those money. Outside seating… not great… tables are too low and chairs uncomfortable…. Definitely a must to improve. Food and wine wise: tasty food but expensive and wine list very short and not at the $300 level bill. Service good … but not impressed. Another resturant in Boston not to go back. And by the way …. The name “the butcher shop” you expect A LOT OF MEAT CHOICES…. With special cuts …. And this is not the place.
Nicolas: Good meet a nice ambience but a little too pricey
Leticia Doprado: Food and drinks were superb! The staff was very friendly, the overall vibe is great. Love the tables next to the open windows!!10/10!!
Ryan Sherman: Passable but overpriced food and underwhelming service.I came in a weeknight evening while it was not busy and sat at the bar. Was served a bottle of beer, reasonably tasty but uninspired beef tartare for $21, and a downright basic burger for $28 (I’ve had better for half that within blocks of this place).Server took quite a while to get around to taking my order, came around at odd times, while my mouth was full, in the middle of courses to ask “how was it?”.Atmosphere is fine with a few nice art pieces but nothing special aside from a prime location on tremont.Really couldn’t justify recommending this when it’s surrounded by some of the best restaurants in town.
Katerina Patras: The Butcher Shop has been on our list of restaurants to eat in Boston. We finally tried it out last night and it exceeded our expectations! Shauna greeted us and was so exceptionally friendly. You can tell she really enjoys people!!! We ordered a couple drinks to start, Greek salad (dressing was 10/10) charcuterie board, half roasted chicken, hangar steak (medium-perfect!), potatoes and to top it off a crème brûlée! It was also National rose day, what a kind gesture to provide us a taste to celebrate! I highly recommend trying this spot out, good ambiance and great food!
Adam Shoemaker: Pretty rough honestly. Ambience is really cool but the food just isn’t, especially for the price point. Expecting a place called The Butcher Shop to have a good burger, we ordered the $28 burger (medium)… came out basically raw and each bun was thicker than the patty itself. Sub par. Also got the tagliatelle bolognese - solid but a little chewy and too hot like it’d been in the microwave. The couple next to us received a raw pork chop, which they obviously had to send back, which provided good entertainment.
HAPPYSPLASHER: I could have made a tastier steak to my liking at home for a better price.
Hemayat F. Nabiel: I was really looking forward to taking my wife to The Butcher Shop again. Our first visit (sometime in 2004) was shortly after they had opened, and we had a wonderful experience. We recently moved back to the Boston area and I made reservations for Mother's Day. Let me begin with my praise for the staff that we interacted with, they were kind and wonderful. Sadly, to say that the food was disappointing would be an understatement. I ordered from the Mother's Day prix fixe menu and was looking forward to my prime rib eye. I have no idea what I was given but I can assure you it was not prime rib eye. I am old enough to have eaten my fair share of steaks (at some of the best steak houses around the world). My wife (the reason we were there in the first place) had an even worse experience. To summarize, The Butcher Shop may have once been a "can't miss" eatery, sadly, it is no such place any longer.
Bessie Drakodaidis: I went for Mother's Day. I had been in the past and I was looking forward to a delicious steak. I ordered the menu provided for Mother's Day which was the prime rib eye. The quality of the meat and the preparation was very disappointing. The steak seemed to be boiled rather than grilled. The taste was not of a rib eye. A restaurant of this standard should be ashamed. I definitely will not return. The staff was very nice, but a very disappointing meal.

M.F. Dulock: what do users think?
Haley: Ordered 6 ribeyes for our thanksgiving dinner- process was easy, prices very reasonable for the quality, and the steaks were delicious! We always do nice steaks for thanksgiving and these were EASILY the best we've had. I'll definitely be back!
Ryan: Great customer service. Very helpful in finding what I had in mind!
Tejas Patel: I asked for chili grind beef and it turned out excellent. The chili I made was delicious. Thank you to the guys at MF Dulock.
roy nagar: Great place great service, very good verity of free ranch meat, place is very clean stuff are really nice.Highly recommended
suzanne Ruby: We made the best split pea soup ever with the smoked ham hock—thank you thank you thank you. The quality of meat here is always fantastic.
Cornelia Kröger: Best fresh product, locally sourced. Try their amazing homemade salami!
Paul Marquis: Pleasant and knowledgeable staff with fantastic food. I've gotten the freshest steak and stew beef I've ever had. I would leave more stars if I could.
Thomas Merchel: Somerville's best local butcher shop. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A wide selection of delicious meats 10/10
Denis Malkov: Favorite new spot in town. Nicest, most knowledgable guys with great recommendations. And seriously the most amazing homemade bacon I've ever tasted in my life...
Neil Sharma: High quality, local, independent, and really nice, knowledgeable staff. I love getting my meat from these guys...
Lillie Pendleton: I don’t like that you show meat to the open world. My daughter comes home to me crying when she walks by seeing you cut open animals after school. I don’t find it very appropriate that she has told me she saw hearts, heads and other gross body parts in a bin under a table. This is udderly nauseating and children shouldn’t see this. This has caused my family including my daughter and I to go vegetarian. I can’t believe that you would show something so shocking to pedestrians in town. I had give 1 star because unfortunately I can’t post a review with out a star, otherwise this would get 0 stars! Put up a curtain please!!!!
William Shinevar: Best butcher in Boston area. Worth every penny. Great recommendations and the meat club is very worth it.
Flor Orosz Hunziker: My favorite group of people in the neighborhood! MF dulock is AMAZING.The quality of their meat is excellent, it reminds me of the great beef that we have back home in Argentina. The pork, lamb, chicken and beef cuts are truly spectacular. This is the best butcher's that I have ever been to in the US! On top of that the people who work here are super friendly and they will help you find the right cut for your meal.
Sam King: While I appreciate ethical farming practices, it isn’t the driving force behind my decision making process. I was given a 2.48 lbs bone in, prime cut, rib eye for an early Christmas present. I reverse seared at 275• with only a salt/pepper/onion powder/brown sugar rub, sparsely decorating the glorious striations of marbling on this beast. I brought it out to rest at 120• internal for about 10 minutes and then tortured it for a minute per side on a screaming hot, well seasoned cast iron 12”er. What resulted was obviously the most perfectly prepared, medium-rare steak you could possibly ask for, obviously, but I didn’t come here to share my prep methods, I came here to tell you that out of the hundreds, possibly thousands of steaks I’ve eaten over the course of my life, this was hands down, the tastiest, most flavourful steak I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. The marbling was generous and healthy, the meat was tender and supple, I could taste the happiness that this cow experienced in it’s life, I could taste the first time it ever experienced the pleasure of a slow stroll through spring fields, the happiness of chewing a cud next to your bff, the simple pleasure of being respected as a living and breathing being. I loved that steak and I love that cow, it is a part of me now. Thank you M.F Dulock
Scott Haenssler: Best Butcher around. Friendly staff and the place is spotless.
Derek Pajaczkowski: Proper butcher with great cuts plus a large selection of sausages, etc, that they make themselves. Definitely worth a trip!
Donal Waide: Quality staff and meat, but only eat the latter.
Kelsey Coffin: The pork chop we got was amazing and they were very help5 and nice.
Bree Dietly: Amazing meats and really knowledgeable people - get yourself there.
Melina Ch: This is such a great shop and the quality can't be beat! I have been here many times and have always found it to be a great purchasing experience. The butchers at the counter never once seem troubled to answer my questions or accommodate a request. Definitely worth a stop!
Max Roberts-Zirker: Love this place, so I drive from Roslindale every month to be part of their meat club. Some of the friendliest and most helpful people at any business - special shout out to Max - and the meat is awesome!
