Rock Spot Climbing: what do users think?
DSG sniper: Very good.Frank
Salman Kasbati: Great team building. Our leadership team went there to do some physical team building exercise. It was fun and exhaustive (for our hands). They have friendly staff who guides you throughout.Great for kids as well I imagine. Don't fear falling down - they have got it covered.Visited in Oct 2014.
Ken Sazama: We’ve always been big fans of Rock Spot! The staff are always very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Our great experience continued even more this week when our 7 1/2 year old has been attending their rock climbing camp at the gym. The camp is a great combination of instruction in rock climbing, fun games, and time for art/hanging out. A great balance of structure in a relaxing atmosphere. A special shout out to Dan & Bill and all the instructors for making it a great experience for our son.
Kate Bosolango: Positive:ProfessionalismGot my skills honed here before going out to the real cliffs.
Irene D: This place is wonderful. Excellent experience; both with our daughter’s 8 year old birthday party a couple of years ago and then summer/vacation camps and weekly classes that both our kids have done since then. Clean facility and bathrooms with terrific staff who are friendly and focused on safety. I love the low ratio of instructors to students and how passionate they are about climbing!
BeantownEater: We came in for the night owl deal which is $10 after 10pm. The staff was helpful in explaining everything. He went over the equipment, safely and which parts that we were able to climb. We got a soild hour and half in. The place is run well. Not issues to record
Curt Carpenter: We celebrated my son’s 9th Birthday at Rock Spot yesterday. And I have to say they made entertaining, challenging and wearing out 16 very high-energy 3rd graders incredibly easy. They did everything so we could just show up and enjoy the fantastic space. Our group had three dedicated staff who knew how to get the kids engaged with top-notch and safe instruction. The party room up stairs was spacious and set up with table cloths, plates, cutlery, balloons and gift bags complete with t-shirts for everyone. They arranged for the pizzas that were actually quite good and not marked up ridiculously. In fact I don't think they were. They also can provide drinks and the cake. But we decided that was the least we could do. That said, everything was very reasonable compared to other venues we have celebrated at. Oh, and the communication from start to finish was one of the best experiences I have ever had. If you’re looking for a turnkey, stress free and fun birthday party for your kids I highly recommend Rock Spot.
Vanessa Sae-hee Burke: This space is nothing short of amazing! I am rather new to climbing but have found myself coming to this gym on a weekly basis and looking forward to it!The bouldering options are really fun and every week one section gets reset so there is always a new route to project! There are a lot of autobelays so you can climb alone but there are also a good amount of ropes to top rope with others! The staff here is absolutely beautiful~ they create such a welcoming community and are incredibly helpful, cordial, educated, and approachable! This gym has quickly become a second home and I highly recommend it to everyone~ from new to seasoned to experienced climbers!!
George Nguyen: BOULDERING: Every week, one (of six) section of the wall is reset, providing enough time to project and frequent fresh problems. There seems to be a good mix of difficulties for all levels.TOP ROPE: About 40% of the tope rope walls have auto-belays, which is great if you're climbing alone. They're not the tallest walls but I've never really had to sit around and wait for someone to finish as most people come to boulder.STAFF: This is definitely what separates this gym. They've been amazingly warm, helpful and welcoming — which really makes me, as a beginner, feel like I belong. It seems like the staff makes an effort to remember members' names and there's always someone around in case you need anything. Sometimes, I'll be on a wall struggling and, out of nowhere, I can hear one of the staff members shout encouragement at me. Cannot say enough nice things about them and how receptive they've been, especially towards my frequent suggestions.OTHER: M/W from 5pm-7pm or so is usually when the team kids are there, so it can be crowded during those times but they've been respectful to share the space and I regularly hear the coaches remind them that it is shared space. The lifting area has 430ish pounds of plates, one barbell and a bench, with limited dumbbells — the area overall is quite small but aside from the team kids, I've never seen anyone else use it. There are one or two cardio machines upstairs. T/Th are more of the adult crowd; other members I've spoken to at those times have been very nice. Weekends have been practically empty aside from the occasional birthday party. The store area has all the essentials but not a huge variety to choose from. There are M/W bathrooms and a changing room, but no showers. No lockers but enough cubbies for storage.
Mya Fonarov: It is really fun climbing with know harness
Mark Corsillo: Rockspot is great. Staff is super helpful, bouldering is great. Routes aren't refreshed super often, and there's often a lot of kids here, but if you come late night during the week it should be fine.
Dmitriy Kryukov: Good bouldering set up
marcus upshaw: This is not a comment about the rock climbing experience. I’ve never used their facility. However I have delivered food to this place on ten or more occasions in recent past. They always ask for timed delivery so no qualms about being fussy and demanding as to how the service is provided but when it comes to showing appreciation for my hard work it’s like they tell you with their action: “go screw”. They may have tipped me once after all those visits and that was probably just an ‘accident’ as the receiver was not the usual person. Then from the usual receiver at the front entrance counter I get this outright lie about “oh we handle the tip on the invoice...” Ha! They were paying by card at the time of delivery. It was quite obvious there was no deferred payment or invoice arrangement. The management and/or rank & file from my perspective were a bunch of un appreciative low class doosh bags. Sorry but if you don’t want to tip you should get off your backside and pick your food up. That would be what you call: ‘being decent’. Thanks, have a great day and as I like to say: have some class...if you can!
Erik Owens: Rock Spot is a terrific, relaxed gym. The atmosphere is friendly, they have a nice gear shop, free yoga classes, easy parking (and a short walk from the Reading commuter rail station). My son has been going there for four years and we know the place inside and out. They really do strive to welcome all ages and all talents, as their slogan goes.
Henry Boyd: I'm on team Rock Spot and it is always the highlight of my week. The staff is amazing and the routes are changed regularly, which keeps it exciting. I love the place and the atmosphere it creates.
David Fink: Did a Birthday there with my kids. Staff was VERY flexible, we changed the number of kids a few times with some cancellations and some additions. All the kids and adults had a great time.
Nancy Webster: Great place for someone who hasn't climbed in years. Nick was very patient re-teaching the belay and figure 8 knot. Will definitely recommend to friend and will be climbing here again
Dan de Angeli: I am big fan. Great way to spend a rainy day with your family
Alastair Bastian: Love rock spot's routes. Walls are a little short but not much can be done about that in that location
Jonathan Ho: I'm biased since this was the first gym I started climbing at but I love it. Lots of bouldering (think shorter climbing walls without rope with a mat flooring to absorb your fall) and with that, lots of topping out.Topping out: depends on who you are, but lots of rock gyms just have some tape at the top marking the last hold or place to put your hands, but this gym lets you climb over the wall (and then take a staircase down one side). Might be scary at first but feels great to finish a climb and get over the wall.I find the environment really chill and lots of friendly climbers. And it never seemed to be too crowded for me. You see all levels of climbers there.I give it a 5, but there are some things you might not like:On the weekends in the morning there can be a lot of little kids running around. The staff and parents do a good job of giving you space but there is the occasional overly excited kid who will run close by you :). Once you get used to it it's kinda nice seeing all the kids having a good time.Top-rope is pretty short. You probably don't want to go there if you don't like bouldering and want to climb some bigger walls. Nice for people scared of going too high though. There are still challenging routes, just closer to the ground. The gym's been around for a bit so holds can feel a bit more used/greasier than those newer gyms. I feel like it just adds to the challenge and keeps your hands from tearing apart, but you might like the idea of having stickier holds. Idk.All in all, I really like this place: relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, interesting terrain and routes :).
Anthony Cataldi: Uniquely positive experience. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, routes change often, membership benefits are considerable (free yoga classes and guest passes, etc.), and the place is always kept clean and in good repair.

Rock Spot Climbing: what do users think?
Holly Buehlmann: The staff were all super nice and there's a great array of climbing options!
Christin Gunning: Love their day pass deal. Great for occasional climbers like me.
Judy Park: Good place to have rock climbing and bouldering. The instructor explains for safety.
Cynthia Kinnan: Great place to come with kids. We had my son's birthday party here and it was great! We've also come for "regular" climbing and really enjoyed that too.
Tyler Simonds: Getting worse with time. I enjoyed it about a year and a half ago when I started going, but management is iffy. They took away the slack line and keep raising prices 👎
Schuyler Kitchin: I really enjoy this gym. The staff are kind and helpful, the atmosphere is very inviting and friendly. Good range of climbing types and difficulties, as well as other gym basics like a weight rack, treadmill, and more. Lots of opportunities for community and climbing development, as well as a well-stocked store.
Erin Kimball: It's a great rock climbing spot in the area. They redo the problems pretty regularly and have wide range for different ages and skill levels. I wish they offered camps and classes just a little bit younger than seven, but other than that this place is great.
R Curt: A1 climbing gym. Tons of problems for all skill pevels to keep anyone busy all day. While they do have some top rope (and maybe a couple leads?), this is primarily a bouldering gym. Their fairly large pro shop is also a +
Robert Sinnott: Very good for kids, great neighborhood.
Sharkbait In New England: Awesome place for indoor rock and Bouldering climbs! All staff are cool as a fan and very helpful!
Mia Holroyd: The rock spot climbing in Lincoln RI is absolutely the best. The service people at the place exceeded my expectations… Ben helped our family and he was incredibly patient with us … plus he delivered the safety and orientation for us in a really understandable way. What a great place …. We had so much fun too !
Nics3451: This gym is so much fun for bouldering. They have a good variety of different climbing styles and four caves - two that are deep for super fun and challenging routes. For top rope climbing, this location is probably good for beginners and kiddos. There are a number of auto-belays and actually quite a bit of wall for the size of the section they have it in. The walls, though, are probably only 25 feet tall.I highly recommend this gym for bouldering. The staff is awesome, they have great merch, and they stay open later then most. It's all wins for me.
marin MAZERES: Perfect if you like bouldering. Also a few self belay routes for top rope
Ivee L: Very well equipped gym even though it's a bit older. It has everything you need to have fun climbing and for training. It has a great varieties of features and climbs. Very nice staff. It has lot of hangboards, weights, bands, a spray wall, a treadwall, and some short TRs. I look forward to going back when I visit Boston next time.
Scott Neagle: this is the best gym in the Boston area if you're looking for a variety of climbs at all levels and a super fun vibe
Femi Koledoye: We loved it...Mad thrill
Alex: great place to go climbing. very friendly community and the staff are always a great help. if you have any questions you can ask one of the staff and theyll usually have an answer. try to go during the week, as the weekends seem to have a lot of college students.
Joseph Daniel: This location was just bouldering. The gym is in the middle of the floor not very organized. They have two large bathrooms with a shower in each. They use one of the showers for storage....why? The shower that is available is only open until 5pm and sets of the smoke alarm.
Nikhil Menon: Great staff and wonderful climbing gym with many problems for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced levels.
Zach Weagly: This is a nice place with a lot of boulder options. Top rope and lead routes are very limited, and the ceilings are quite short. You can complete three top rope routes off of one auto belay before switching to another. The staff was very kind and accessible on a Thursday night. If you're looking for an excellent gym to boulder, this is it. If you're looking for top rope or lead climbing, don't expect much.
Ritchie Vernon: I'm sorry I'm confused on this one I haven't climbed any rocks that I'm aware of except maybe the sidewalks of Boston which get Rocky sometimes I had knee surgery I might have walked up a hill but I'm really not sure what you're referring to? But I have been busy and about active the last few days invited to some singing places I'd love to share about! Next week is my Thursday surgery on my wrist which I damaged along other body parts may 2017 hopefully this is the beginning of things to come to write the wrongs of those things that happened in that unfortunate accident then God bless you all be safe from Boston! 😊🙏😀🇺🇦🇱🇷

MetroRock Climbing Center: what do users think?
BHAMA: Climbed, laughed, had lots of fun and unforgettable memories!
Hailee OKeefe: This facility does not take belay testing seriously whatsoever. My instructor was 100% focused on her dog throughout my exam because there was someone in the gym who was afraid of dogs. At the time I was belaying someone who weighed a lot more than I. The instructor was purely focused on her dog “Princess” and did not look at my technique. Although I believe it was due to the focus on her pet, she was rather aloof overall.
Charles Klauder: Great gym with excellent and friendly staff. Love to spend an afternoon on the auto belays or belaying for my children. Climbing is a great mind body activity for all ages.
Peter Chikov: Awesome place, top rope, lead climbing, and an expansive bouldering area.
MERLIN “Merlin Zeewiz”: Loved our experience! Friendly service and gym, must try!
Casey Lu: Absolutely the best climbing gym and best climbing community in Boston (especially if you want to do ropes climbing). All the staff are very friendly and they have an epic lead wall in the back. Sometimes competitions are hosted and then you can try the climbs after. And sometimes they even host more community events like screening the Olympics. A huge facility and the programming like adult team is really welcoming if you’re looking to sharpen your technical skills and improve your climbing ability (I especially love that Erica and Adriana are the coaches and Adriana is such a great setter). Cannot recommend making it out to metro more
Christopher Covello: Critical:Communication,Professionalism
Thida Golff Pornkittichot: We had a good time for the birthday party there. @coppycake
iris hale: I loved this place. My favorite climbing place in Boston, will be returning!
Christian Adams: Sweet gym with easy going staff and crowd. 140+ routes with all levels.
Dan Sweeney: I have climbed at all of the gyms in the Boston area and MetroRock is my favorite! The walls are well-featured (corners, chimneys, cracks, roofs, slab, sustained, arch), textured (smear away!) and long. The route-setters are creative and provide a nice variation in types of climbs, and the grading is representative of outdoor climbing in the area. The atmosphere is welcoming- you can be a beginner or go with your family and feel comfortable here. The staff are friendly, I never feel rushed or like I'm annoying with a question or request. Overall a very down-to-earth place where you can have fun and improve your climbing
J T: Beautiful big walls. Plenty of routes. Go in the morning if you want the whole place to yourself!
Nicolai Cauchy: i love the unpretentious, slightly grungy, typically MIT-geekish ambiance. There's a large variety of routes up to half a pitch long, lead, topr rope, or self belay. The routes are more spread apart than at Central Rock Gym in Watertown, and there is almost a full grade of difference in the rating between Metro (5.10a) and CRG (5.9). Slack line, yoga studio, workout and stretching rooms, and to top it all, a Wonderfully nice and accommodating staff always available !
Sampson Wong: Great place. It's a big setup and really tall climbs. They also have a rope course.
Nate Bryce: Great facility! Good variety of top rope, lead, bouldering. The certification process for top rope and belay isnt good. If you don't have climbing experience, you will have to attend a pre-determined intro to climbing class, which sucks if you decided to go on a whim. The certification is them handing you a harness, watching you put it on, then making you tie your knot, and hook up with up your belay device. Very basic, and necessary, I completely understand!. But you are not allowed to practice before hand, or have someone teach you how to do it. They just watch you and fail you, and say you have to test again next time, OR come back when we have our class and take it. IfIthey see you practicing beforehand then they automatically fail you. I am not against certification to ensure safety. However there should be a better process to teach new climbers AFTER they already pay for entry, and rentals to tell them they can only Boulder or do the 8 auto belay climbs in the gym.
TrainsRCAnd More: Nice facility, great staff.
santiago funes: Best rock climbing in the Boston area, except location. Color Coded rocks, enough climbs to keep you climbing for a month, all skill levels. Nice staff and everything you need to climb, definetly go (With a car)
NoFate247: Great place for indoor rock climbing. Tall ceilings, bouldering, top rop, lead climbing, and auto-belay stations. Also a small weight room and a section to train your grip. Been going there for years and always leave with a smile on my face.
Thomas Meehan: The climbs are fun! he staff is friendly 😃
Tomas Javier de Tuya: Awsome
Julie W: Clean, organized, and they have something for everyone. I like how this place is organized and caters to a wide range of ages and skill levels. I visited for the first time and was greeted by two sweet doggies, filled out a waiver, rented a harness, and got a 5 min tutorial and was on my way to climbing for the first time. The auto baley device is very safe and also fun to use. Sometimes there is a line but not one that is unbearable. There are also plenty of shorter walls for climbing, without baleys but with giant red mats to catch your fall.It is a great form of exercise but I have a newfound appreciation for climbers (especially those who can climb in an inverted position!). I am sore in places I did not know existed!

Brooklyn Boulders Somerville: what do users think?
Jackson Burns: It's a corporate mega gym with all the benefits and drawbacks. Expensive, but worth the price. They are actually expanding their facilities, which is a good sign and keeps me wanting to pay dues. Go at off hours if you are a serious climber, oversubscribed horrendously otherwise. The good:- If you are new to climbing, this is a great place to get started since they have lots of space to try everything out.- If you are an experienced climber, they reset frequently enough that you won't get bored and they have the best accessory equipment of any gym I have ever visited (weights, kilter board, hangboards, etc.).- The hours are AMAZING. The only gym I have ever seen that opens early, great for climbing before work. The bad:- Basically turns into a daycare on the weekends with unsupervised kids running all over the place. Get there early if you want to get a decent session in.- Expensive, just like the rest of Cambridge. Day pass with rentals was almost $30.- Circuit grading on the boulders (though you might not care about this one):Most climbs are all crimps, all pinches, etc. with no variety. Sometimes you will endlessly project a V3-5 and then flash the V6-8 right next to it. Some of the climbs are just egregiously reach-y. Thankfully with so many boulders set you can always find something to work on, but it's annoying regardless.Unrelated to the actual facility itself - this is the SINGLE CHALKIEST gym I have EVER climbed at. Seriously, there are other gyms in the area that have those bulk bowls of chalk out in the bouldering area that are STILL less chalky than this place. People just layer it on here and I have no idea why. Routinely have to brush holds that are just caked in a thick layer of chalk to the point that they have zero texture. Truly baffling.
Yang Sun: Excellent experience!
Carter Chamberlain: UPDATE: Started with a disagreement with their shoe policy regarding minimalist footwear, but the managers were very responsive and updated the policy to include sock-shoes, Vibrams, etc.I haven't experienced the full facility yet (that's a good thing as I'll explain) since I'm still building up strength on the bouldering wall and haven't taken the auto-belay training yet. The training is included in the membership and rope-assisted climbing is two-thirds of the facility, but that smaller third is more than enough to keep me occupied for several weeks! They even re-set the climbs every couple weeks, so you can absolutely progress at your own pace of skill-development.
Наталья и Ася: Birch wall - looks nice, but you can't smear those. Smelly and poorly ventilated. The washroom faucets are so economical with water, it's impossible to wash one's hands. Menstrual tampons in the men's room.
Matthew Rollender: Edit: BP staff has reached out to me about this and apparently this is a priority of theirs to fix. There is a serious problem with over enrollment here. During the week, there are so many people with day passes and/or teams having practice sessions that it is nearly impossible to have a productive session at the gym. There either needs to be1. Less generous day pass discounts.2. Higher prices for monthly membersDue to this, there are better gym options in metro Boston. The overcrowding makes in unenjoyable for first timers and full members like myself. It's a bummer since the route setting is really good! You just won't get to climb them unless you come during an off hour
Lucas Zsolnay Machowinski: Used to be awesome but then Boston bouldering project came in and made it boring, they got rid of all the super cool artwork.
John Rincón: Day care that’s also a climbing gym.New ownership seems to have just exacerbated previous issues.Filled with largely unsupervised young children from noon forward, massively oversubscribed during peak hours, and prices have gone up despite much of the space now being closed for construction. It’s main perk is it’s location, but for those with car access or who primarily boulder, I would look elsewhere
Harrison Frye: Awesome facility, gear and they have great snacks there, including shakes, Kate's real food bars, and other protein bars.
Natasha Rosenberg: FYI when I visited on 2/17/23 several of the 1st & 2nd floor spaces & rooms had active construction going on, with paint smell & power tool sounds throughout. They kindly allowed me to save the day pass I paid for for a future visit.
Yuri Sem: + Great climbing and bouldering hall- Reception was very cold- Staff was unfriendly towards people which are not from the US
Laura Owens: I used to love this gym before they were bought by bouldering project. Since then, it's become much more of a bouldering gym. The bouldering walls are reset two walls per week while the to prope walls are reset one wall per week at best (three ropes have been reset in the last 3+ weeks). They're now planning to decrease the number of rope walls. It seems like a fine gym for bouldering but I would not recommend it for top rope/ lead.
Jacques Fordy: Good amenities, routes are refreshed regularly, crowded on weeknights
Isaiah Rojas: reat community of people, great workouts, and a great space.
Napo O'Brien: Nice bouldering gym. The bouldering is two áreas. One downstairs that replicates a tall bouldering competition wall and a smaller and shorter bouldering wall upstairs. Good amount of problems to keep you busy for many sessions.Setters are very creative and use the wall inclination very well.Rope walls are great. They have plenty of top rope and lead only routes.Friendly staff. Clean restrooms and showers.
Valentina Alvelais: The place looks cool, was very much looking forward to trying out a class which was advertised as free on mindbody app but soon arriving found out it was not. I think the staff lacks the customer service expertise, as the guy in the counter didn't even acknowledge mistake on their part and didn't let me take the class for free as advertised despite going all the way there. Instead he wanted to charge the full gym day's worth. Shame they lack focus on the customer.
Christopher Lew: Came here with a friend using his visitor pass. I believe this place used to be called Brooklyn Boulders, but they have rebranded in whichever city they are in. There are a variety of climbing activities besides bouldering like top rope, which requires a certified belaying expert.A very friendly and opening atmosphere. Everyone was kind and courteous. The difficulties were clearly mapped out, and I didn't think any run was unfair.I am a beginner climber, and my experience was very positive. The routes are changed fairly regularly on a round robin basis, so there are also new routes to try.
Honest Abe: Fun
Nayara Leite: The staff was very attentive to us. Being a beginner made our experience outstanding. We were comfortable and had a lot of fun!
Alfred Wahlforss: Pretty crazy how they can remove all boulders at the same time for a couple of days
rohit nayak: Amazing place, but unaffordable for students.
William Spidaliere: Great rock climbing gym

Central Rock Gym: what do users think?
Joel Dufour: It's a good place to get a cardio workout, some lifting, light climbing generally. Not a quality climbing gym. Stressful climbing experience. 100 dollars a month don't feel quite right. Too many kids running around at peak hours. I live in fear of crushing surprise children. Poorly managed gridlock parking lot from people picking up their kids or something and not using their hazards, bad parking, whatever. Put someone outside to berate people for being stupid. Must be 16 to use cardio and fitness equipment - Apparently young teens lead/sport belaying (I will never get this, even when they're trained properly, teens are stupid and easily distracted, fun fact), young kids running around the bouldering area barely supervised, are ok? Cool. Seems like some pretty mediocre belaying instruction and verification. Used to another place where the experienced staff has hawkeyes over the belaying area and gives advice, and the contrast here is amazing. Seen some horrific stuff, while people watching from the cardio loft. Bad technique that can get people killed indoors, not to mention outdoors. Poorly optimized cardio loft utilization, and perpetually half the equipment is down. If you can't get repairs, perhaps get some alternates to swap in? Could probably sell a couple of the needlessly ginormous artisan holds for a few pieces of functional cardio equipment. Amazing this place gets insurance coverage. Hire more staff and pay them well, they can only do so much. The staff to patron ratio is awful. Generally pretty chaotic. This gym needs help.
Jake G: Coming from the west coast, I was surprised to see how much more CRG charges for a membership. This location in particular, is damn near impossible to park at most of the time.Is it really a good idea to allow babies to crawl around on the mats with people climbing above?Shirts seem to be optional at this location.
Jeff Klein: I'm not a rock climber, but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I had a few hours to kill with my 8 year old, so I figured this might be something to do. Three weeks later, I now have a monthly membership and go with my kid 4 days a week. Turns out rock climbing is really fun, who knew? Well, I guess everyone knew. This place is enormous, and while most of the biggest wall is dedicated to lead climbing, I find that seeing talented strong people do amazing things is inspiring while I struggle up my 5-8 climbs. Also, I know what a "5-8 climb" means, so that's cool. In short, I don't know if other climbing gyms are this good, but boy is this one amazing. The price seems fair, and everyone is friendly and helpful.
Zohre Javaheri: Great place for both boulder and top rope.
Annalise Ngo: W gym
NH Media: This gym has a lot of leading routes, but the equipment is often quite filthy and there are many hard (under graded) routes for bouldering. It seems like they keep having the safety net for competitions or kids or route re-set in the bouldering area which can be quite disruptive to other climbers. It would be much more beneficial if these activities were moved elsewhere so that those looking to boulder could do so without interruption. Some of the ropes appear very worn out which raises concerns about safety standards at this facility. Prices may seem reasonable to some people; however, given all these issues with cleanliness and safety it might not make sense financially either. Check your ropes please!
Doron Bracha: Impressive center for indoor rock climbing. Well designed, maintained and managed. State of the art amenities, professional ad friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. Many different options and levels of challenge, from little kids and beginners to very advanced climbers. Parents can use treadmills and elipticals while waiting, that's great!
Eugenia Valerie Clifford: Best rock climbing gym! Seriously!
Corey Pedersen: Solid gym. Lots of great amenities and routes. My only complaints is that some of the holds are slick from use and that it can get very crowded.
Mishonne Marks: Wide variety of different climbing styles just really busy
Michelle Dao: Largest CRG gym. Typically 4 auto belays. Has a tunnel that is super scary to fall off of as a short person.
Master Mind: Good spot
Jakob Sperry: Best gym in town
Natan Segal: Very well set routes. Day pass is way too expensive for how crowded the gym is. 28$. Would be nice to have a discount /complimentary first visit as well like many other Gyms do
Joe Black: Overrun with kids jumping on and off the wall constantly. Also, they block off portions of the gym to reserve them for their club teams. They have been pretty slow to update the routes recently, too.
Jacob Davis (DrNeato): A great gym. Tons of wall space and heaps of problems to work through. The staff is always super nice and helpful. Runs are updated every week so there is almost always something new to explore. Really thankful for the central rock gyms - great places.
Jonathan Yue: Awesome staff, big bouldering area, lots of toprope routes and lead routes, speed wall, campus board, hangboards, circuit board, gym, and sauna. Only thing this gym is missing is some slab boulders and training boards like moon, kilter, tension.
The Hero's Advisor: This is a great spot to climb. There is a lot of terrain here for skilled climbers, less so for casual climbers. The auto belay systems make choosing a wall to try so quick and simple. There is a fair amount of bouldering to try, but most of it is very intense and not casual friendly. Great climbing gym.
Duc Hoang: Friendly staff and very nice settings!!!
Nora Ashley: literally always crowded with kids and they never change their settings. not worth the money at all

Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center: what do users think?
Kazi Mukitul: free for Full time students. Amazing place for fitness exercise and games.
Ben Senderling: It's a good gym. But they're doing some equipment cleaning and renovations and appear to not be bring back the 110 and 120 lbs dumbells. Those were a significant reason I switched to this gym.
Jonathan Nash: Great facilities, excellent equipment selection.
Bob Kao: Nice gym and swimming pool
Youssef Ghobreyal: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Chris Chang: Please state that you're not open on Google too.
Omar: Awesome gym! Loads of equipment and with 20,000 SQ feet you won't be disappointed. Of course around peak times you would normally find a line for the core lifts( bench, deadlift and squat) but with two floor of equipment even a indoor track?! Love this place!
Sage Holloway: Too crowded. Generally a nice space but I can almost never do my workout plan because it’s overly crowded and not enough space/equipment.
Mikhail M. Nitko: Hi-- I am actually part of the staff at BU and use this center, and I want to note a few things:1. There are staff-only locker rooms, which by my experience are used 80% by staff and I'm not sure how some of the younger patrons of these got the keypad codes to get in. Its my only reason for 4 and not 5 stars.2. Your BU Blue Cross/Blue Shield health benefit can be used here and will reimburse $150.3. If you don't buy a locker membership, finding a locker during a crowded time (4pm+) can be tough, but not impossible.4. The equipment is new and quite good, but be mindful that these are kids you're working out with, some of whom were in highschool the year prior, and many will not know gym etiquette about wiping things down after use, or not starting a workout infront of someone using the wall mirror for their workout. And other small nuisances.5. The sauna is located in the locker room for the pool, but bear in mind that it is dry, the temperature control is outside the room and I think goes only to 130 or so, and is a bit temperamental (in the men's locker room), and more importantly-- there is no water to place on the stones. So the students/staff get water from elsewhere and bring it in water bottles to place it on the stones so the room has steam. So don't expect an authentic sauna experience at 180 degrees, and ladling water.6. The indoor track is really nice, and rare, and I am super-grateful for it because treadmills are so boring. But take note of what I said in point #3-- you're also sharing it with kids who don't know gym etiquette yet, and will not read the signs that say that on specific days of the week you run/walk in one or another specific direction around the track. So you will run into them, and will need to correct them, but so far all have taken the correction in a friendly way.7. Some locker-room showers do have broken soap dispenses that don't work despite being full, so you'll need to be aware and bring your own.Otherwise the facility is plain great -- clean facility, new equipment, good airflow on the running track, minimal college highjinks from the students that are confined to the locker room.
Joseph Walker: Great facilities, excellent equipment selection. Only complaint is the Men's locker room could use better ventilation, if you catch my meaning.
Chuan Hu (Archuan): I come here at least twice a week! Good facilities and friendly staff.
Dave Bedard: First rate
Sarah Bella: too crowded, but nice
Xiangyi Meng: One of the best things of being a bu student.
Desmond Molloy: Parents/community members, please take care using facilities: FitRec has at least one employee facing criminal charges for indecent exposure.
Mariusz Kaczka: I climbed in this gym when in Boston; reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it :)
Eric Lazarian: Plenty of parking, not too expensive, machines are new, great track. Lockers suck, little floor help. Good location.
Meifeng Jiang: Best. Good big pool
Agent MeatBun: Such a nice place to work out.It has the best equipment, there should always have enough space and equipment for u.
Robert Gerstner: The Fitrec has been an amazing part during my studies at Boston University. It's a great place to meet and talk to other students from BU and the building offers everything you need for doing great sports (perfect for swimming, climbing, running, weight lift, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, dancing and much more ...)
Pengcheng Zhou: Best University Gym in Boston Area.

Exxcel Gymnastics & Climbing: what do users think?
Kira Grabauskas: The best thing ever happened to me 😃
Jacqueline Hormaza Melo: Niños de cualquier edad, pueden estudiar alli.
Kelly Angelo: Excellent place for kids
Rose Nshimiyumukiza: I love this place it has a lot of cool activate thing's and my daughter loves it because she loves gymnastics and she was begging me to take her I recommend this place
Rikki Washington: Everyone is very nice, very clean place with lots of different stations. The only con is the price for lessons.
Rob Hnasko: This is a fun place for a kid's birthday party. The facility has a great history of fostering Olympic level talent.
Chris Karl: Went there for a kids birthday party. Looks like a very serious gym (in a good way). Not a lot of fuzz, just sweat.
Nir Melamoud: This place is great for birthday parties for your kids, its amazing what your kids can learn in such a short class. I saw once a birthday party for little 5 year old kids, and the birthday boy did his first ever kartweel. And it was a really good begging kartweel. Also there was an obsticle course, a foam pit that you can junp in, a really bouncy trampolene and a zipline, there is also rings that you can swing on to get into the foam pit...etc. its just so amazing what these instructers can do to get kids interested in gymnastics, while having fun, and then afterwards eating cake! But I did hear that they are a little stricked with their students that take private lessons and they are always going a little hard on them, but sometimes that's what's needed. I personally really like this place, and if a birthday is coming up to your son and/or daughter, Exxcel is the place to do it.
Mike Barnett: This place was ok. We are comparing exxcel with a couple other gymnastics centers. We found that for the expense exxcel, which is much more expensive than the others (Mass Gymnastics and Boston Gymnastics), is significantly more disorganized than the others. We also found the culture at exxcel to be a bit odd in that more often than not we would heard other parents talking about how one particular instructor was harder or easier than the others. What is good and odd about the place is that the teacher to student ratio is pretty low. We were on Saturday mornings and more often than not most of the other students in our kids' class wouldn't show up so rather than having 9 or so students in their class only 2 to 5 students would often show up.Why we picked this was that is was close to other out-of-school time activities for our other kids and as such we figured since it was so close lets give it a try. However, for the cost compared to others exxcel falls short of their competitors.
