Yashar E. Azam: A nice coffeeshop with a decent range of pastry and bagels. My medium roast was delicious, but I’d rather drink a light roast. Apparently they do make pour over but they did not do it for me today. I’d go again if I’d be in the area.
Roberto El Khoury: Honestly the americano and cold brew we got were not good at all…
Vincent W: Sandwiches are cold and disgusting.Don't update items they have out of stock on door dash and don't refund. Stay away.
Jimmy Trinh (JT): Good breakfast sandwich.Chai was ok, some leaves in the drink.Lox Bagel was good, needs saltier capers, salted maple latte was good.
K: Got the turkey club with ciabatta bread and an Iced Americano.Iced Americano was nothing special (which is fine).Sandwich was not very good, the ciabatta bread was really hard and dry, turkey was really salty as well. I can see why they were recommending the sourdough over the ciabatta. We came here a couple years ago and remembered it to be better than it was now.
Lily Li: Came here a few years back and remembered it to be really good. I ordered the same thing and unfortunately wasnt as good as i remembered. The hazelnut latte tasted gritty and the turkey club was really salty and hard. The sandwich literally cut my mouth lol, i think the ciabatta was overtoasted since the tops were black.
Luke Meek: Good coffee and the vegan sandwich was great.Recommended dishes Breakfast Sandwich …More

Kristin Moneyron: Render is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Boston! From the back room that’s like a green house (my favorite spot to hang out and work or chat with a friend) to the delicious Hazelnut Latte and sandwiches, I could not recommend it more! A few of my favorites are: the Hazelnut latte (I crave this all the time), the Lox Bagel sandwich (the bagels are always fresh, I see Wicked Bagel delivering in the middle of the night), and the Turkey Club on Sourdough (their Sourdough bread is to die for).
Alex C: Great little coffee shop! My pourover was great, and the vibe was real. I had heard that the atrium seats were highly coveted, and this proved to be true, as they were all taken. So get there early and enjoy it. I want to come back during warmer months and relax on the patio.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Hillary Leffue: Edit: the coffee used to be truly good. However, they are clearly no longer training their employees to make decent milk drinks. I’ve given it several tries in the last year, and every time the drinks have been awful…the foam could have been better with one of those hand frothers. I hate leaving such public negative feedback but there is no email contact.Great coffee and selection of food/pastry items. Had their seasonal lavender vanilla latte the other day and it was on point. Their brewed coffee is also solid. They've got a lot of seating too, so it's a good place to hang out for a moment.

Elias Vetter: We used to come here ever Saturday morning. There coffee beans are great. The quality of the Cappuccino they make with it really depends on the Barista on duty. Sometimes perfect temp, foam milk distribution and coffee taste. Sometimes no foam and too hot milk. Same with the bagels. You never know if you hit a day were the bagels are fresh and delicious or old and chewy. This inconsistency became worse recently. No salmon on a lox bagel is just the most hilarious example of things which went wrong with my orders. No pastry on a Sunday morning is another example of this branches overall inconsistency. If you are a thrillseeker, please go here. You never know what kind of experience you will get.

Guinea P.: Update:I had a problem with the loyalty program/Toast POS system before, but the manager Jake responded promptly and was very helpful. Amy explained the situation well, and helped me do an experiment to make sure the system works properly.Initial:It is one of my favorite cafes in Boston. I am particularly into their seasonal products like lavender or rose latte and coffee sangria.

Đan Nguyễn: I ordered a latte and a London fog-which is a tea latte. Both were great, but I definitely loved the latter. It was similar to a chai latte, but the spice was milder, and it had just a little bit of sweetness. And I love that they put the drink in nice porcelain cups, not disposable ones. Definitely will return and order it again!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Coffee Shop …More

Nicolas Warren: Love the Huichol yarn paintings. The coffee is event better! George is a great example of ethical business practices in a global world. Great café for meetings, quick snacks, and exquisite coffee for the discerning palette.
Brian D: Currently my favorite specialty coffee roaster. This could be the pinnacle of coffee at this point in time. Beans are all fresh (usually 2-5 days old), lots of single origin small lot options and the ambiance and staff is awesome.Barismo and Broadsheet are two other good roasters. Barismo has an attitude problem. Broadsheet is good for beans but doesn’t offer pour overs for some reason.
Byron Skaggs: Incredible coffee options of all kinds and bean varieties for each: pour-over, latte (the lavender latte is very good), cappuccino, etc.Baked goods and breakfast sandwiches are also very good.On the expensive side and often crowded - even overflowing into the hotel lobby next door.
Laura Elena Rosado: The best service, excellent coffee quality. Out of an oat milk latte, the most skilled barista in the world made this beautiful Pegasus/unicorn 🤩
Oisin Mac Allister: Excellent staff and service only okay food and coffee. I ordered a flat white and it was bitter considering the price I paid was 5 dollars for it and that this place is highly rated online this is not what I expect. With all the fancy setup and cool things to look at yet the coffee is bitter its a bit disappointing. The service was great and lovely staff and my coffee arrived very quick. I also ordered a pain au chocolat or a chocolate croissant as they call it this was also only alright and was a bit disappointing considering the price of it. Overall a bit of a dissatisfied experience in the food side but excellent staff and service.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp after entrance doors for wheelchairs and very wide entrance with double doors. Might get a bit snug once after that if it's busy as there's a que that builds up.
Jea Kim: Great place to stop by for coffee and pastries in Downtown Boston.George Howell has been one of my go-to spots for coffee in the downtown area. Since this is their flagship location inside the Godfrey hotel, empty seats were rarely available, but they did have extra tables in the hotel lobby. I was usually able to grab one of the comfy couch seats without any issues. My favorite menu so far is their shaken cold brew. It's slightly sweet but goes well with their pastry selections. I've tried the orange danish and sticky bun, and both were excellent. Their sandwich selections also looked nice, and I'll definitely be back to try those for lunch.
Talip Tarhan: Coffees are delicious. Place is comfortable and well designed .
Karen: Coffee is perfect!!
Yasmin Albrezat: Flat white was the best that I had in years.
EskWIRED: If George Howell had tasted the espresso that was served to me, my Barista would have been fired immediately.
bruno korbar: One of my all time favourite coffee shop, with a slight change since 2021:It became massively overpriced (sadly, that became a reality for anything decent in the states), especially for non-coffee wares. What bothers me though is the fact that the quality went down a bit. Or rather, not quality, but consistency.Quality of the coffee in GHC is excellent, however in 4 visits that I've made in the last 8 days, with the same order (standard blend espresso and the single origin espresso which hasn't changed) had massively different experiences. Like: "yeah, I'd pay even more for this" to "I guess it's ok for specialty" experiences. And I get why it is that you can't have perfection all the time, but if your charging 6$ for an espresso, I'd want it to be excellent. And 2 out of 4 times, it wasn't.
Graham Greenhalgh: Undoubtedly my favorite coffee shop. The quality of the roast is truly exceptional and each drink is crafted with care, making every order superb. Their passion for coffee is clear.
Millie Obregon: Quality coffee. Tasty breakfast sandwiches. Lively ambiance. This is a must go to coffee shop for a wonderful experience and excellent food/tea/coffee. My friends are super picky with what they eat and drink and they approved of this place!I tried a London fog and loved it. One of my friends had an iced coffee and the other got a tea. Both were happy with their choices. The sandwiches were also delicious. I got my egg sandwich with arugula on sourdough bread and it turned out so tasty!
Eric Johnson: Yeah, this one is getting the coveted 5-Star designation!!!!As always, I scoured the three w's to find the coffee establishments to visit while in Boston. Let me just say, thank you to all those other enthusiasts out there who recommended George Howell!!!So the day I visited GW it was roughly 14 deg F and to say a piping hot cup of Joe was welcomed is an understatement, but the heat wasn't the impressive part! The succulent deliciousness of coffee made with skill and precision is what we're talking about! So much so, that I actually circled back after wandering Boston Common to order another drink and purchase a couple of their house roasted offerings. In summary -Knowledgeable baristas capable of hosting an exciting conversation regarding the productA plethora of delightful offerings from multiple regionsAnd an array of accessories and gear that are actually useful put GW on list of I WILL ABSOLUTELY FREAKING BE BACK!!!
James Hoder: Always consistently amazing. Arguably best coffee in Boston. Reviewing because of a particularly beautiful latte this today.
Katherine Anthony: You ever have a drink that's so good that you can't stop thinking about it?I had an iced mocha from here. It had actual chocolate in it and (unlike some other places that use real chocolate in iced mochas) they mixed it in well so it had the chocolate-y taste. It's expensive but tasted so good that I'm coming here again next week. Oops

Jeremy Feghali: Gracenote is a beacon of light amidst a sea of bad coffee. I was in Boston on a business trip, and I was having the hardest time finding a decent coffee shop. After a few days I finally googled "best pour overs in Boston," and found Gracenote. What a gift! The coffee was freshly roasted and brewed perfectly. The baristas were incredibly talented! After finding this spot I came back everyday until I flew out. Over those days I had the espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, and pour over, all of which were incredible. Gracenote is a true craft coffee shop, and you should go there.

Offering espresso-based drinks as well as Chemex (I love my pour overs), as well as freshly roasted bags. Just don't expect to be able to sit and enjoy it here. You'll be enjoying it, though.

Sofia: $20 for a burnt egg and cheese and a chai—overpriced and over hyped. egg in the sandwich had a weird plastic film and half the croissant was burnt. Only redeeming qualities are the alcohol and the fact it’s a functioning cafe that stays open late.

Alex C: Great morning spot. I was a little disappointed they weren't doing pourovers the morning I stopped in, but I'm not sure if the other slow bar options were available (forgot to ask). The coffee was still good, and the breakfast sandwich was really good.I've been back here, and the pourovers were totally taken off the menu, which is a little disappointing. I still love the breakfast sandwhiches and the way they grill the cut edges of the bagel. A nice touch.

JFK: Can I also get a refund for all the money I have been overcharged here the past 6 months because of the 'kiosk'? What a joke. I hope a formal investigation gets performed.
Michael Luu: I bought three items tonight and noticed I was charged a lot more in taxes than anticipated. I checked my receipt and saw I was charged 17% tax instead of the 6.25% sales tax. I was also charged a service fee of $0.39 (2% of total plus "tax"). I asked the cashier and she showed me her point of sale terminal which showed a 17% tax. She would not let me take a pic of the terminal. I am not sure at all why they are charging 17% tax. If they want to add service fees then fine, but I believe it is fraud to add fees under a tax line item. A manager was unavailable and the staff told me to contact the email on their website. This was not helpful. I will be filing a complaint with the DOR and state.I recommend avoiding this business based on these shady practices.See attached receipt.
