Von Huene Workshop, Inc.: Couldn't get the Google account to change - the work was actually done for Eric Haas at a private residence in Roslindale.I contacted Boston Carpentry in the winter about replacing my front porch. Stephan responded promptly and came out to assess the work needed. We discussed using some composite components to make the porch more weather resistant. His first proposal was more utilitarian than I had in mind and I asked him to revise it to preserve more of the original character, which he did immediately.Once the weather warmed up, he contacted me on a Friday to say the team could start on Wednesday. By the time I got home that evening, the porch was demolished and the basic framing already done. Even with a couple of rainy days, my new porch was finished within a week. The team was courteous, very hard-working, and always left the area cleaned up. The work is excellent, with neatly executed details, even better than I'd hoped for. Gorman Family: We hired Boston Carpentry to built a large wrap around deck off of our sunroom. The job was slightly more challenging as our yard is sloped and we were under a time crunch to have it completed before a big backyard event. Mario's team not only completed the job on time, but the quality was exceptional. We were home during much of the duration of construction and witnessed the precision, attention to detail, and excellent workmanship that went into ensuring our deck was level and installed perfectly. Chris Jankun: GB Woodworking did custom units at our family room (built in bookshelves, mantel & custom trim) as well as mudroom (built in custom storage unit incluing cabinets, shelves, hooks, storage bin & cubby space)- from start to finish we were thrilled with all aspects of their work.During the design process I cannot imagine anyone bringing more experience and attention to detail to the table. Roger Lipsett: Gary built bookcases for us in our living room and also in our master bedroom, both of which contain spaces for a television. He was very easy to work with, clear as to what he was proposing to do, and was happy to make minor changes during the planning process. He also had great ideas for how the end product should look. He built pivoting bookcases to conceal a utility closet. He crafted a Murphy bed and storage units that when closed, look like a paneled wall. And finally, he crafted double doors that when open, conceal a closet and space for art. Each element displays an elegance and simplicity that set a gracious tone for the apartment. The most difficult for Gary was making each unit look effortless while working in an apartment hopelessly out of square.Throughout it all, Gary was collaborative and wonderful to work with. At every interaction point he was prepared and 100% accurate with his estimates (cost and timeframe). The installs were brief and he cleans up as if he was never there. Heidi Gilmore: Stefan and his crew are simply the best contractors we have ever dealt with. Stefan built a custom walk-in closet for us, in a room that is approximately 10x13. We are very picky and wanted top quality results. From the start, Stefan provided a level of quality unmatched in our experience with contractors. He paid great attention to detail throughout all phases of our project. He started by ensuring he really understood what we wanted and then designing a detailed plan specifying what the closet would look like. Once we finalized the design, he procured top quality materials (no cheap materials in his construction - all furniture-grade wood). He built out the sections for the closet in his shop, then came on-site and installed them over the course of several days. He constructed the base, added crown molding at the top of the cabinets and painted everything, all in place. When he was finished, we had beautiful custom cabinetry in our walk-in closet. Additionally, despite the construction that had occurred, our house looked untouched. Stefan and his crew were extremely neat and respectful of our home. By the way, Stefan will also make suggestions based on his experience that really add a lot to the final look of your project. We accepted his suggestions and the polish they added to the look and feel of the cabinetry was amazing. I highly recommend Stefan. He meets his commitments and he delivers quality. Robert Laughrea: Fine finish carpentry is an art form especially when working in crooked old 1870's Victorians. Stefan did an amazing job repairing old work, installing new shelving units, and installing custom trim throughout our new home office.The existing pocket doors installed by a different carpentry crew several years ago were a complete mess. One door would never remain open, and when both doors were closed you could easily see around the doors through a 1/2" gap. Stefan had to completely remove the pocket doors and move them 3/4" to properly center them on the room! The devil is in the details and Stefan spent the right amount of time to think through every detail to make sure the end product looked flawless.I have personally worked for two high quality driven companies in Walt Disney Imagineering and Apple. And, I would highly recommend SHP Fine Carpentry to work for either company without hesitation. Jeff made sure to explain his expected working time frame ahead of time and at the end of day one explained exactly what they had done and what they would complete the next day. Once the job was finished (right on time), Jeff walked me around showing places that he had patched up and details that I would have otherwise missed. Monica Moulton: I ordered a custom table and am happy with it. It took about 2.5 months, but they set the expectations with me, so I knew this was their timeframe. Everyone at the shop was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They took their time explaining everything about the different types of wood they work with and how it would/could work with what we wanted. They also delivered it and set it up at home for us.If I had to make one criticism is that, the table isn't finished at the bottom, just the top. Now, we don't use the bottom of the table obviously, so unless someone can prove or explain why that's a bad thing, we're still very happy with the table. Jason Moore: Last summer I needed my whole house painted, shingles fixed and replace my two doors. Alex from Green Mountain Painting was the first to call back and even came by the same day to take a look. I explained everything I needed done and he was fair on the price. He didn’t disappoint the house came out beautiful and the doors were put in perfectly. Before he was done we had our AC leak from the attic and stained the ceiling. Anthony Moschopoulos: From the very start I found this business from the reviews here, so I found it important to leave one. I have never met Alex before calling him for this job. Nor do we have any body in life that know each other. I called Alex to install a highest quality entry door which was custom made from the #1 quality door maker in North America. Alex, noticed to quality from the start. The talk was direct, and was all about the ways he could install the door and care for the door while being installed, and the steps he would take to insure not a scratch or single tool mark would be seen when done. (Already different from the rest). As the next morning came he was on time at 7:30am. He took great care to plastic off the entryway and secure off a work area from the rest of the house which has 5 young children.attention to detail was made threw-out . No detail to small. Each and every step was first thought about, then done . He put a lot of meticulous work into the detail very carefully. He did this threw out the entire job. After day one was done he explained each thing he did and why he did it.. the next morning he was on time again to finish the trim inside and out. Again attention to detail, at every step of the way. If you want to stop stressing about making sure that you are getting good quality work, for a very fair and reasonable price, then I would highly recommend hiring Alex.
