The Salon At 10 Newbury: what do users think?
Amy: I was diagnosed with LPP/ FFA ten years ago, and despite treatments, I have still lost quite a lot of my hair. I was embarrassed, didn't want to leave my house, afraid of the slightest breeze outside.Everyone at the Salon at 10 Newbury is amazing. They totally understand and make you feel comfortable and welcome. They have private rooms to confer, and they have great knowledge and skills to help you through the process of determining what is best for you. I am so glad to have found this salon- They have given me my life back. Thank you to everyone at The Salon at 10 Newbury! You're the best!
Kristen Bain: I highly recommend The Salon at Ten Newbury. Patricia the owner is so professional and nice. Michelle who worked with me was so kind as well. After going through chemo and lost some of my hair this is just what I needed where it is real hair. My dr. at Dana Farber recommend this fabulous place and so glad he did. Thank you for providing fabulous service and making me so happy.Sincerely,Kristen Bain
Greta Covino: I recently went to Salon 10 for a consult for a topper. Women having hair loss can be traumatic experience but when you see your loss you need be make a decision on what will make you happy. I first went to a different location and did not have a good experience. After some research I contacted Salon 10 and spoke numerous times with Ashley, she was great going back and forth and accommodating me. I went in on a Tuesday and met with Pat, she was great, very kind and compassionate and definitely not pushy. I actually purchased the very first one I tried on. She then brought in a colorist who would do the roots, she nailed it. I was able to return on Friday and met with Jaime the stylist who was also amazing. He definitely is an ARTIST at his craft. He combed it, twisted a couple of front piece and measured a piece in the back. He then said “ okay I’m going to take the piece and cut it” I’m confused, I’m thinking how is he going to get this right not cutting it on my head. He NAILED it; I was amazed and the tears poured out. The level of confidence you once had returned. I cannot say enough about the entire staff, the experience I had from beginning to the end was excellent. I would say to anyone who experiences hair loss and feels depressed about it that you won’t regret visiting this Salon, they will absolutely make you feel 100% better about yourself. Many thanks toPat, Jaime, Lisa & Ashley
Tom Range: Undoubtedly, this is the best salon I have ever visited. The staff is highly skilled. Best services.Services:Haircut,Curly hair
Jillian Hollis: I called to make an appointment and Patricia answered the phone. She was abrasive and quite frankly, rude when I was asking about upcoming appointments. If that’s how she treats a new client, I am not sure how she’s in business.
Rebecca Merriman: Salon 10 is a special place and is the only salon I trust to cut, color, and style my hair. I have trichotillomania, and five years ago I reached my lowest point with the disorder. I was a senior in college and I could not comfortably hide my bald spots enough to go to class or social events without feeling self conscious and afraid. Arriving at the salon, I was so comforted by the treatment I received by everyone here. The rooms in the back of the salon are private and made me feel like I could talk about my hair without being judged. Pat, the owner, truly understands hair loss, the toll it takes on a person’s life, and the importance of feeling beautiful. In the time that I have been coming to the salon I have had a number of wigs and toppers, and each one has received numerous compliments. Another important factor in this process is that Pat and her team considered what my goals were for my hair, whether I wanted to shave it or use what I had for the overall style. Every decision I made was discussed, honored, and treated with respect. If you are someone struggling with the decision to purchase a wig because of the overwhelming nature of the decision, I want to say that Salon 10 couldn’t be a better place to start your journey.Services:Haircut,Hair coloring,Hairstyling
Lisa Phan: My mom started chemo and we came in for a wig. From start to finish Jamie was very patient and helpful with the whole process. He made sure that we were happy with our decision and was super helpful through the consultation and fitting. The rest of the salon team was also very nice and welcoming. Overall very clean and professional environment. Everyone made an otherwise stressful and emotion situation very smooth.
KT Browne: I have trichotillomania and finally made the decision to get a wig. I was quite apprehensive about the whole process, but Patricia and her team made me feel valued and beautiful every step of the way. These people are ARTISTS. I can't say that enough. The level of skill they have is astounding -- from dealing with my wig's complex color job to cutting and fitting it, their abilities are world-class. For anyone dealing with hair loss, this is your place. My family is astounded with the results and never thought a wig could look so good. Thank you, team! I'm over the moon.
Danielle Price: I was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 34 years old and never imagine having to worry about being bald or other body changes that come with cancer. Pat and Michele made having cancer a little better and made me feel like my old self with the wig that they colored and cut for me. I highly recommend them and will continue to go to salon 10 as they are incredible.Services:Hair coloring,Hairstyling
Catherine: Positive:Cleanliness,Professionalism,PunctualityPatricia and Michelle have supported and guided me through the task of buying a hairpiece for my alopecia. I am grateful for their skill, professionalism and empathy. Highly recommend. Five stars.
Paola Rios Schaaf: I've had may haircuts at Salon 10 with Kristine in the last 3 years. She's amazing and well worth the price you pay. I recently went back and felt safe with the equipment and precautions in the salon post-pandemic. The staff is as friendly and helpful as ever. Made my appointment via Google Assistant and it was so easy.
Vicky Lyon: I have been getting wigs and hairpieces from 10 Newbury Salon for many years and have always been satisfied with the process and product. This time I have been over the top happy and excited to get a piece that was custom made by Pat She was able through Zoom to figure out the dimensions, the color and size of the hairpiece I was asking for. It was not an easy task but she proved to do her magic to my satisfaction.Services:Hairstyling,Hair extensions,Hair coloring
Remlee Green: I came in with my mum today to get a wig (she's losing hair after starting chemo treatments). Before the appointment, she was sad and feeling low about losing her hair. A few hours later, she walked out with a brand new head of gorgeous hair and feeling great! The owner is amazingly kind and patient, and everyone in the salon was a delight to be around. Michelle trimmed the wig and taught my mum how to put the wig on, and in a few weeks, we'll go back to learn how to take care of the wig. The way that they walk you through the process and options is extremely comforting. When you're losing your hair and feeling less than yourself, these folks really know how to get you feeling good again. They're not at all pushy, and are just so supportive, fun, and kind. I'd love to go back to the salon sometime to get my own hair styled.
Kate O'Connor: Salon at 10 Newbury provides an amazing service! My sister is going through chemotherapy. We tried buying a wig online, but it just wasn't natural looking. Pat and her team help us find the perfect wig, which they also colored and cut beautifully. They were professional and kind throughout the whole process and made sure my sister was completely satisfied with her wig. Her nurse at Dana Farber even told her it's the best wig she's ever seen! Cancer really sucks, but Pat and her team made this part a lot easier. Thank you!
Bridget Parker: My sister found the Salon at 10 Newbury through their other amazing reviews. Having recently been diagnosed I had no idea what to do or where to go once I began to lose my hair. Pat and the team at the salon have made what could have been a really hard process so much easier. They are kind, professional and incredibly knowledgable. Pat helped us pick out the right wig, took photos of my hair to match the color, and when it started to fall out they helped me cut it off and fit/cut the new wig to make it perfect for me. The whole process was done in a private space and everyone was so kind and thoughtful towards us making every step of the process so much easier during a challenging time. I couldn't recommend them more highly to anyone going through treatment, I can't imagine what we would have done otherwise and we are so grateful to them.
Kristen Madeira: The Salon @ 10 Newbury is the BEST of the BEST. My sister is going through chemo and got a gorgeous wig from Salon 10. Pat and her team were amazing from the very first phone call. Pat helped my sister find the perfect wig that looks exactly like her own hair. When she began losing it we went back for them to shave her head and fit and cut the wig to perfection!!! They are so empathetic and kind during the most difficult time in my sisters life. She now has a beautiful wig (that noone would ever know is a wig) and a sense of normalcy back. I highly recommend Salon 10 and so grateful we found them.
Mary Walsh-Aframe: Due to the pandemic It had been a long 8 months since my hair Had received the professional service it neededI have been nervous about having my hair done at a salon The moment I walked into the salon at 10 Newberry I felt extremely comfortableAnd very safePat and Kara were greatDuring my appointment I felt very relaxed and safely taken care ofThe hair treatment color and cut I received made me feel and look so much betterIt was a much-needed uplifting experience which I would highly recommendThank you so muchMary AServices:Hairstyling,Hair coloring
L Frenette: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Glen Portanova Jr: Let me start by saying thank you. This was awesome I mean everything about this visit made me happy and made me look amazing and the service was above and beyond what I expected. This is by far the best place for men and woman. I had very long hair and I would look in the mirror and I was always upset didn’t realize it until the day I had Augi cut my hair. She was amazing and did such a great job. On top of it she made me feel comfortable it’s been five years since I had a haircut but she made me feel comfortable and happy with my decision. I donated my hair and at the end of it all I went up front to pay my bill and a lovely lady named Pat told me that she was the owner and they were going to cover the bill. I mean this was by far the best experience I have ever had at salon or anywhere in general. Loved it. I can’t say enough good words about Salon 10 and there staff they were very professional and polite and made me feel at home. Listen if you are thinking of a hair cut call them ASAP you will not regret it and Augi was amazing she has 40 years experience and it shows. Wish I could keep going about how good they are but I think I proved my point just go to there insta gram and check it out. And thank u to Augi, Pat and all the staff you guys made my year and my girlfriend is happy so I can’t thank you enough...🤣🤣🤣...Thank you so much , I’m a life time customer now. Thanks, Glen Portanova Jr 😁
Disappointed Customer: I wish I feel comfortable enough sharing my name on this post but when you’re experiencing hair loss it’s not easy. I purchased my new wig from the salon and it was fine nothing special. While I was waiting for the color to be fixed on my wig, I was fascinated by the way other stylists worked on wigs. What really struck me was the redhead stylist working on my wig. She took my colored wig to wash the color off and when she came back, she wiped the color off the mannequin head with a dry towel. I had to look again to make sure I am actually seeing this and then she put my wig that she just washed the color off on the same mannequin head. It blew my mind to see this. I still cannot believe it, this wig is going on my head. I thought a place that specializes in wigs would be concerned about clients health. As soon as I got home I washed it again, I did not want to take any chances.I am very disappointed.
Rebecca Carr: Patricia and Magdalena are heaven-sent. I came to them from out of town with a hair system that needed attention. Within 5 minutes of sitting in the chair Patricia had a solution and said it could be ready in 24 hours. I returned the next day and Magdalena trimmed my hair and system to perfection. If you are in Boston, no, even if you're not in Boston, Patricia and Magdalena are the people you need to see for your hair needs.

Liz's Hair Care: what do users think?
Shiwani Deshmukh: Not that expert staff!
Esther Leonard: I've been going Liz's Hair Care for the past 5 years and I've always received great service. They are always on time and there is such a relaxed vibe there. I'll miss them when I move out of Boston.
Megha Sharma: The overall experience was very disappointing and here's why:The lady who washed my hair, washed it as if I were black, like she rubbed my head very hard. But I've very thin hair and she could see that I've thin hair and yet to rub it so hard, I must've lost a lot of hair. And to top it off, she put some cream on instead of a leave in conditioner and now my hair won't stop itching even after 3 washes. If they're serving other races, then they gotta treat them how their hair should be treated instead of shampooing harshly or using creams that shouldn't go in your hair in the first place! As if that wasn't enough, Ron didn't sanitize the hair brush and comb before using it on me, it had other people's hair stuck to it, no wonder my hair won't stop itching! And to top it off, they way he cut it, I've very little volume left to my hair (the entire time he had no confidence and seemed like he was just winging my haircut, so disappointed), which is frustrating as my hair is already thin, but not having volume makes it more difficult to style and what not.I'm extremely disappointed with the overall experience and if I could do it all over again, I would've never gone there. In response to the owner:I never heard you instruct her what to use, in fact you weren't sure if I wanted a shampoo and conditioner. And, no, she didn't use Paul Mitchell conditioner (only shampoo from that brand) and used some cream instead of a conditioner and leave in conditioner. It's extremely unsanitary to wash brushes and hair tools at the EOD, what if I've hair lice because of your unsanitary practices? At every other salon, that I've been in, they leave combs and brushes in blue solution to be as sanitary as possible. If I could give 0 stars, I would!Service:Haircut
New Home: Im fairly regular at Liz’s but was unaware they offered braiding with extensions until recently and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I used to have to wash and de tangle my hair before showing up at my regular braider but to my surprise I could just show up at Liz’s with my twist out and they washed and stretched my hair in preparation for braiding. The best part is this service was included in the price of the braids and very worth it! Shammah did a beautiful job with my knotless braids. I was a few minutes late due to traffic but she used that time to already pull out the braids for a more efficient process. I really appreciated that. It’s been almost two weeks now and the hair doesn’t itch and feels light. I am happy with the results and continue to receive compliments on the beautiful braids! Book your appointment now! Thanks Liz and thank you Shammah!Service:Braids
Jean Rose: This Salon is really top notch with their knowledge and professionalism. If you want your natural hair styled with care please call the Salon.
Danna Delsol: My first time getting service and I must say I was impressed. Ron gives tue most amazing hairwash and Marianne is great at braids. Liz is warm and so welcoming. I will be going back and I will give another review with my hairstyle. I would highly recommend.Services:Hair coloring,Hair hydration treatments,Haircut,Curly hair,Hairstyling,Hair straightening,Twist braids,Hair highlighting,Blowdry
Marie Georges: I was visiting Boston from Canada in September 2023 and needed to get my hair relaxed. I took an appointement at Liz'a Hair Care and they were great. I will go back again.
Aritra Bhattacherjee (AB): Great people, nice service! Clients are mostly women with lots of styling jobs, but they still always happily accommodate a men's cut (me😃) at earliest convenience! This has fixed my issues of having to hop around looking for a place for quick and easy haircut, which even great clips (by Northeastern, now closed) was becoming problematic. So Liz's appear to be skilled at much higher forms of service, but they still graciously welcome me always!
Xoxo Kisses: I’ll start by saying it is a friendly atmosphere. I went in for a silk press and trim, but was very disappointed. I wish I was told upfront that interns would be doing my hair. If I wanted interns I would have gone to a beauty school to get my hair experimented on. For the amount of money I paid plus tip, I expected a professional with experience. The process was rushed. I had to ask for heat protectant. She was actually going to flat iron my hair without it smh. The trim wasn’t straight. I came home and some family members pointed it out. Also, not everyone wants multiple people touching their hair. One person washed, another conditioned, then another did the silk press. I’d rather just person from start to finish… just my preference.
JJ: My hair is damaged because they left the bleach on too long. Plus they cut too much off won’t be coming here again the people here are not hairstylist!Services:Haircut,Hairstyling,Hair coloring
YaoiQueenTrash (Ariyana): Burnt my hair. Left me under the dryer for too long I Never will go back again.Service:Keratin treatments
Romelo Lewis: unprofessional, inattentive, and dangerous to go for natural hair. my recent appointment 11/23 has ruined my hair. I had over a month ago started locs with them here, expecting a more professional environment I scheduled a appointment for retwist. I explained over the phone my routine and how much I've been taking care of them since and was assured they'd go in to my notes as a returning customer (I've been going here for months) so they can properly be taken care of. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was asked NOTHING, not once did they look at my locs, not once did they see HOW they were locing, nothing. They placed me under a faucet and completely washed my hair out, they never banded it, make sure my roots were still in place, NOTHING. The person who washed my hair even went as far as explain to me why my hair (4a) is too soft and I shouldn't be doing this.UNACCEPTABLEfor context as well, I had previously asked to interlock my hair as it was a service they had, and was refused. only for now to have them offer it to me AFTER washing my locs out.RService:Dreadlocks
Patricia Elizabeth Wright: Fabulous! Never have to wait, in and out. Ron is always on time. Thank you.
Kristin duBay Horton: One of the best parts of moving back to Boston is having Liz to take care of my hair and now my children’s. She is gifted and professional and pays close attention to all her stylists work. Not cheap but her braids last six weeks so we’ll worth the expense! My daughters hair has never been this healthy before!Services:Hair hydration treatments,Hairstyling,Kids' cuts,Blowdry
Saynab Maalin: Amazing service and care. Literally went for my first time today and I couldn’t be happier with Donnette and Jeannie (Liz’s mom). If you haven’t gone and want your natural styled with care, please book immediately! :)
Nadine Joseph, Ph.D: This is my go-to salon for natural care and styling. The stylist go by appointment, so you don’t end up spending all day in the salon because your stylist is working on multiple heads. I also like Liz’s Hair Care because they use quality products. I highly recommend a salon.
Michelle Dean: Liz’s Hair Care is the best salon in Boston! Liz and her team are professional, talented and skilled. I don’t trust my hair care needs to anyone else!
M Price: I should’ve got the girls name who did my hair but she did an AMAZING job ! I love it. She’s very sweet and kind and very hard working! Thank you so much
Fabiola Michel: I had recently chopped all my heat damaged hair and finally had healthy 4C hair.I've had 5 appointments at Liz Hair Care and book for a silk press once a month. I found Liz Hair Care when my hair was in a healthy state. My first appointment went well with Donette. When I first called the salon I spoke to Liz and asked her " What comes with a silk press?" and she stated, wash, conditioned, and deep condition.I recently had an appointment where they were overbooked and was busy. I was under the dryer when the receptionist called me to come in for my appointment.. Already a Red flag. Second, they forgot to put deep conditioner in my hair and the whole process seems rushed, compared to other appointments I've had.All the stylist that I usually see doing hair was leaving and I was left with someone who I only see shampooing clients hair, so I was a bit worried. I should have listened to my gut and left, but I assumed it wouldn't be bad since I've never had a bad experience at the salon. I realized the stylist was doing a lot of passes with the straighter and I asked her did she put heat protectant in my hair and responded she said yes. My hair smelled burn't so automatically I knew my hair was damaged again.A week after, I wash my hair and I panicked because my coils weren't reverting back. I put conditioner, and deep conditioner for an hour each and still my hair was straight when I washed it out. I immediately called the salon and was told I would get a call back. Instead of getting a call back from Liz the owner, I got a call back from Christine, who handles the more technical side and is not a cosmetologist. After the back and fourth on what the next steps would be, I finally get a call from Liz two days later saying I should have asked to have my hair deep conditioned.. No apologies or her holding accountability. Then texted me stating I would have to come in so they can repair my hair but would still have to pay a portion of my braid or wash and go and they would cover the treatment, cut or trim. I said no thank you because why should I pay for something you damaged? She changed her response and replied again, they would pay for that if I started over but needed to see the damaged. I was over it and didn't respond.I usually don't like to leave bad reviews, especially when it's black owned but the way this whole thing was handled was unprofessional and unurgent. I paid for heat damaged hair, and it's unfair they're asking me to pay for them to repair it. No one took accountability not Liz, the stylist, or Christine and seemed like pride was more important.. I'm leaving this review for Liz so she knows to take something like this seriously if it happens again, and also leaving it for someone who respects their hair and pockets.Services:Curly hair,Hairstyling
valerie walker: 1st time . Liz is very nice & welcoming. I am happy that went to this Salon?Service:Dreadlocks
Bridgette Mitchell: Donnette did my hair abs she did a phenomenal job! She cut my natural hair and talked me through all her steps.she permed it and gave me a really cute pixie cut! She guided me with styling it and made it look exactly like the photo that I shared. I will definitely be returningServices:Perms,Haircut,Hairstyling

Haute Coiffure Salon: what do users think?
Angela Zhang: Had the most amazing experience with Zena!!! She is truly a master of her craft and gave me a much needed, stunning balayage makeover. Her portfolio of work speaks for itself so I knew I was in good hands. From the start of my appointment, Zena was so kind and professional, making sure to ask detailed questions every step of the way about exactly what I wanted. She took her time with the cut, tone, and color, and when I tell you I screamed (in the BEST way) at the results, I am not exaggerating. I have received so many compliments on how beautifully blended and natural my balayage looks, and I could not be happier!! I trust Zena with all my hair needs and could not recommend her more!Services:Hair coloring,Haircut
Mary Barbara: Everyone at this Salon is very nice especially Joe. He did keratin treatment for my which turned amazing, also did my hair for the honeymoon and I loved it
Alpamys Tauken: dont recommend this place. Not professional, used machine to haircut which should be done with scissors only.
Nora Jouni: Zena is amazing for balyage, she puts so much effort into her work and is very smart and experienced. Love Keratin Dany and Joe do amazing keratin. Very efficient and easy to schedule. Always come back and am satisfied.Services:Hair coloring,Keratin treatments
Beibit Z: Alexandra cancelled my appointment just by saying “client before me cancelled his appointment and she does not want to wait for me”. That notice was communicated one hour prior to appointment time when I was heading to salon. My inquiry to reschedule the appointment was ignored since I expressed that unprofessional attitude. If you gonna sign up for master Sasha, be ready to get your appointment cancelled with late notice.
Marcela Silveira: I had color + highlights done with Deny. Great costumer service! It was the first time I colored my hair in a salon. He helped me to choose a color that would suit my skin, since this was my biggest concern. The result looked so natural! I loved it!
Crystal Gonzalez: My haircut comes out nice each time, very consistent no matter who I see there. They're understanding if I need to change my appointment due to work, and were helpful when I came in after my ear surgery : )
Chirantan Jain: Not a good salon for mens. No suggestions provided while cutting. Just did the cutting for the sake of it. The person who was cutting my hair seem to be less interested and more interested in sweeping hair.Service:Haircut
Kelly Pinilla: Loved the experience, great service, super nice stylist. Got exactly what I wanted, called and was able to get an appointment the same day. Definitely will be coming back!Service:Hair coloring
Howard Schwartz: George is the best
Sam A: Great experience the second time I went! A man named George blended the top of my hair and lightened the front pieces. Highly recommend GeorgeService:Hair coloring
Cullen Paradis: Came in for a haircut, the guy was nice enough. Heavy accent and loud music made it so we could barely understand each other though. Honestly not sure if he understood what I was saying even hearing it properly. After a minute of failed attempts at talking he eventually just went "shorter?" and I said yeah. Asked me a couple times whether it looked good, but always when the hair was wet and flat so I had no idea. After getting home to properly inspect it, 'tolerable' might be more accurate, if a bit generous. Going somewhere else now to have it fixed. $20 is a reasonable price for a haircut but I'd pay more than $20 now to go back in time and tell myself to go somewhere else.Service:Haircut
Melinda M: Zena was amazing and fixed a bad haircut I got somewhere else! Top notch service
Stephanie Tran-Nguyen: Jen is the best!!! Great at cutting and coloring. Super fun ~ Love her!!
Angels Chu-Ng: Service:Hair coloring
Latifa Sweri-Fakhouri: Incredibly talented team. George is my fav.
Anuradha: I was a first time client and came in to get my hair done with a pastel purple. I came in with hair that wasn’t bleached except for the ends. The stylist who I had the appointment with was very messy and didn’t seem to understand English. He had to bring the owner over to understand what I wanted. The owner explained to me they couldn’t do two toned hair and could only do one color. I said ok and specifically mentioned that I would only like the color on the lower portion of my hair and would like highlights. They didn’t listen to me and copied the photo and the stylist didn’t mention what he was doing. The stylist bleached my whole head (not just the lower portion as I had asked) with highlights without asking me if I was ok with bleaching. He then applied dye after without any heat and didn’t cover all spots. The haircut was also shabby with randomly cutting some portions of my hair. He styled my hair straight and then I was charged way over price than what I was told on the phone. The owner agreed to lower the price. Do not come here if you are assigned the Lebanese stylist. When I came home I found out he was so messy that the bleach had bleached portions of hair on my face. Overall very dissatisfied.
Manuela Welton: I found this salon a few months ago and just came back, I highly highly highly recommend it. Zena is incredible with Balayage, haircut and color. She works with your unique face structure and features and really does an incredible attentive job. Could not recommend more, would give 10 starsService:Pedicure
Hien Helen Phan: My medium length haircut is almost double the price compared to other salon, but my haircut here is not as good as I expected. When I expressed the concern of my layer cut (it’s not even, and not much layer as that guy promised in the beginning when he said it is easy and ok, etc.) they just ignored my concern and just simply say they have to take care of other customer... so I have to move on??? I also don’t understand why they can be gossiping about customer, such a unsatisfied experience.
sahil shetty: Ask for George. You will not be disappointed.
Sabeer Narula: Great salon. A little pricy but the cut is consistent from every stylist. Definitely worth going

Anita Kurl: what do users think?
Kim Kackley: Molly was awesome! I asked her to help me transition to gray. She spent a long time asking questions and checking my hair for color as well as a small test at the back of my head. She hi lighted with hi lights to camouflage the gray. She did an amazing job.Services:Hair highlighting,Haircut
Meghan Miller: Well, I've found "The One". This is my third time coming and seeing Candace. I just hope she works as long as I live because I don't know what I'll do without her. I live in Vermont, but now I time my visits back to see family to coincide with when I need a hair cut. She's very receptive to what I ask for, but I also give her creative license and she has nailed it every time. The rest of the staff there are also all incredibly warm and welcoming. I've seen a number of curly "specialists" over the years, but Candace is hands down the best.Services:Hairstyling,Curly hair,Haircut
GB: I love this salon! Very clean, timely, and friendly staff.
deenice: Service:Curly hair
Alyah Santos: My first experience going to a curly hairdresser and it was amazing. Definitely recommend for anyone that has curly hair of any type! Staff is amazing and informative!! This will be my regular salon to go to when I need a cut :)
Alice E: This is a perfect salon if you have type 1-3 hair. For my Type 4c, I left with dry, tangled, undefined curls. When I do my wash and Go at home it’s moisturized and defined. I went for a deva cut and wash and go. My stylist spent a lot of time on my hair but didn’t know how to treat my curls. I guess for $120 I expected the best wash and go better than what I can do. My hair was detangled when I came in as per the instructions for the appointment and I left more tangles. Overall staff is friendly and accommodating. The salon is beautiful. But I think they should realize the limitations in managing 4c hair.
Lisa Stein: The best hair experience I have ever had! I am normally not a review writer - but my experience was outstanding - everyone from the receptionists, to my stylist (Kandace), to the other staff went out of their way to make the visit a great experience. I highly recommend!
Mana Javadi: This was the greatest hair salon experience I have ever had. Jorden was a curly hair guru who took the time to educate me on how to take care of my curls (after years of heat damage). She talked me through everything she did and shared what products she thought my hair needs the most but did not expect me to purchase them. The vibe at this salon is wonderful and I am excited for my next appointment. Thank you Jorden!!!Services:Curly hair,Haircut
Demitra Michaelidis: I really wanted to love it here, but I got one of the worst haircuts in my life here. The shape is terrible, and nothing like any of the photos I showed the stylist. I asked for layers and face framing. I have two layers that are not blended at all. Also a little frustrating that they double book. My cut was super rushed but they had no problem keeping me under the dryer for over an hour.
Sephorah Umugisha: Friendly staff sure, but no knowledge in treating 4C coarse hair. I went in for a Wash and Curl service, barely washed my hair. They went straight into explaining the conditioning and curling products which dried my hair out even more.Don't waste your $$$: 150$ gone down the drain. I went home and rewashed my hair because it was so dry and the products they used had left some white gunk in my hair.Suggestion: Hire more staff of color that have treated 4C hair/coarse hair if you're going to be advertising yourself towards that audience.Service:Curly hair
Oyku C.: I waited for almost 2 months for my haircut here with Peabo. I wanted a drastic change for myself which was to get curly bangs. When I left the salon, I really had a ton of bangs. Although I didn't think it suited my face, I was happy that I finally tried it.My hair is very very thin and I have a hair loss issue so you can imagine volume is a huge deal to me. Peabo listened to me and then took all of my volume away with his cut. I only realized this after I washed my hair of the rigid styling I was given. Unfortunately he cut all of the top layer of hair to a bang shortness including the back of my hair while the bottom layer of my hair which was around my shoulder blades looked so flat without the support of my top layer, unnaturally flat (no flowing layers, no transition), just a single layer of hair. From the long single layer, I had 2 longer pieces that made me look like I was always wearing uneven extensions. What is equally worse is that he cut the front bangs deeply on each side and the next layer being the long single layer, there was no transition from the side bang to my normal lenght, it looked like a staircase. I was never able to let my hair loose because of this.I looked at my hair every morning and night feeling sad at what I lost. It has been 7 months or so, I went to a hair cut, not with any hope of fixing this, but at least to get a trim at my long layer. The hair stylist was horrified by my cut. He pointed out how Peabo used special cutting technique to give layers to each strand and he did this to an extreme with my already thin hair which made me have uneven curl pattern especially around the bang area where he used this technique heavily. I did also notice before that my hair wasn't curling beautifully as usual but I thought a single cut couldn't possibly cause that. I was wrong. My hair stylist explained how we can correct this completely in 1.5-2 years.I really wish I could rate this salon -1. Writing this review was hard but I wanted inform others who might share similar concerns to mine.Final note: Peabo also put in my clip-on extensions because I brought them for a cut which actually cost me quite a bit to cut a couple of these clip-ons. They even wanted to charge me more to install the extensions and I was thinking what?? You just clip them on! After I refused, Peabo simply put them on and didn't charge me.
Tiffany Ortiz: Travel more then an hour just to get my hair done here. It's always worth it 👌 thanks to Mikayla!
MGS B: If you have curly or wavy hair, however you identify, this is the salon for you! All the stylists do such a great job not only caring for you and your hair but also educating their clients on proper care as well.
Melissa Gallagher Landry: I can’t get over how *seriously* you all take curls, without making hair care feel *pretentious* or like my hair is something to be “fixed”. I have low density mixed curl type and It’s so nice to see a salon full of folks with all kinds of curly hair getting stylish and beautiful cuts. Makes me feel #blessed and inspired to have curls. And like I am in the right spot.I started coming here July 2022 and got the best haircut I can ever remember. I actually felt listened to and better than that — Mikayla knew how to execute (!!). Her appointments are efficient without feeling at all rushed.I’m impressed with how the staff here seems to be a real team. They treat each other well and seem to really care about client experience. No matter who you interact with, everyone is warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. My shampoo and style service was AMAZING. And another stylist I didn’t yet know stopped to check on me under the hood, just to say hi.I’m getting highlights at my next visit and I have no doubt I’ll be gushing again!
Emily Castillo: I’ve been to several curly hair salons in MA the past 6 years and have found that Mikayla at Anita Kurl has given me the BEST cut and style ever for my 3C hair! Despite being in Boston Anita Kurl Is more affordable than some of these newer curly hair salons outside of the city that don’t even compare and charge almost 200$ for a cut. I feel like i truly did get my value and money’s worth here with this amazing hair cut and the amazing vibes at the Salon! I actually left feeling great and beautiful after my haircut! I’ll definitely be coming back and referring my other curly girls. Highly recommend making the trip here if you don’t live in Boston.
Ashley Elpern Chapman: Love this salon! I've been coming here for over a decade and can't imagine going anywhere else!
Gabriela DeLeon: Very disappointed in the way they’re treating cancellations due to COVID. I’m being a responsible person letting them know my family tested positive for COVID and will need to reschedule my afternoon appt and they want to charge me half and won’t apply it to my next appt. This is no way to do business and a really bad customer experience. Save your money and go to a different curl bar that values your business and money. I was a loyal customer but looks like I need to find a new place for my little one to get his curly cut. The tone was rude and condescending too.If you’re going to call people to confirm they’re credit card you can also remind them about the 24 hour cancellation policy. Sounds like you’re only worried about money.
Joseph Crivilare: I always had trouble growing my curly hair out, but the instant I walked in here I knew I was in good hands! Excellent curly cuts, great coloring, spectacular service! Always happy to drive from Portland, Maine in order to go there!
Nikki Alcala: Y’all. If you are a curly gal like me I know how scary it can be to trust someone new with your hair. Trust and believe if you are looking for a new stylist Peabo is your man. This was my second appointment at Anita Kurl and he did an amazing job with 2 very different requests. I felt heard and respected. He always answers every question and is kind, funny, and realistic! He is truly a curl artist and I will be going back again and again! ✂️
Elizabeth Mas Ramirez: So I went to Anita curls for root touch up, hair cut (my ends), blow dry and flat iron. The “stylist” asked me how I wanted my hair, if I wanted it super straight or natural looking and I said straight. She put so much product on my hair (my natural hair is straight/wavy)it looked super oily and dirty, it wouldn’t move. My ends looked awful, you know when you get your haircuts that the ends look super healthy, you couldn’t see the difference and super uneven.I don’t recommend this salon at all, because I had the basics done and it was a disaster so imagine getting more done. Super overpriced as well.Oh I forgot my forehead was full of hair dye after, I looked that I had gotten my hair done in a very cheap neighborhood.
Sarah Robinson: A truly incredible salon if you have curly hair. I've seen Peabo for a few haircuts and I am always so happy with the results. He also taught me how to style my hair to bring out the natural pattern (loose/wavy curls). Coming here is such a fun experience because everyone there is so knowledgable about curly hair, and all the clients end up looking amazing!I used to think my hair was mostly straight and frizzy, but recently I started to work on caring for it correctly. My results improved so much after getting Peabo's guidance (SO much better than the random advice I found on Reddit!). Anita Kurl's instagram shows before and after photos if you want to see what they can do on your type of hair.Services:Haircut,Curly hair

Mop Hair Salon: what do users think?
Monty: Professional staff, comfortable atmosphere
Rob Gale: Another great haircut from Nicole! Always satisfied!
Avril Teo: went for a deep conditioning treatment and haircut for my split ends. Derek was very knowledgeable and deft with my hair, i felt like i was in great hands. hair turned out super soft and healthy-looking, i highly recommend this establishment!
Hailey Fromkin: 10/10. What a wonderful experience. This is the first haircut I have actually liked since I left Florida 10 years ago. The shop is beautiful, clean, and the hair dressers are friendly and knowledgeable. They clearly know curls!! And that is hard to find. I had an appointment with Derek, and he was a gem. He cut my hair gorgeously, patiently cared for it with the upmost curl expertise, and was so friendly and sweet. This is now my favorite place and I will never go for a haircut anywhere else in MA. I highly recommend! I commuted out from Somerville and it was worth it 100%.Services:Hairstyling,Curly hair
Vrutti patel: This was my first time getting a curly haircut and I love it! Derek was incredibly nice and friendly!Service:Curly hair
Amy Pagliaro: First time going to a salon since the pandemic started and I was blown away. The staff here are so friendly and I really felt that they listened to me when I told them what I was looking for, even when I had a hard time describing what it was I wanted. The cut and color both came out great, and I even got some styling tips that work with the amount of time and energy I'm willing to put into my hair. This is an LGBTQ-friendly establishment! I identify as gender non-conforming and they used my preferred pronouns the entire visit without question. An all-around great experience, and I have another appointment in a few weeks!
L Webber: Positive:Quality,Value
Gabriela Leyton-Nolan: I cannot say enough good things about Mop Hair. I have been getting devacuts by Cory for the last 3 1/2 years and every single time I have left beyond thrilled with my hair. I have gone in wanting to keep my hair's length with a reshaping, and I have gone in wanting to completely change my hair length and style, every single time Cory has spectacularly delivered. Cory is a wonderfully personable stylist who I enjoy talking with and always makes me feel like I'm at home. Over the years I have had many bad experiences with salons not knowing how to handle curly hair, but now that I have found Mop Hair every single visit to the salon is enjoyable and leaves me feeling extremely good about my hair. Additionally, Mop Hair is an extremely welcoming salon, their COVID protocols have allowed for safe appointments during the pandemic, and the online booking system is very easy to use. If you are a curly hair girl looking for a salon in the Boston Area, then look no further - Mop Hair is the salon for you.Services:Haircut,Curly hair,Hairstyling
Sasha Shenk: I never write reviews but I had to make it known -- THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! I have been terrified of hair salons since middle school because nobody knew how to cut my curly hair and I resorted to cutting it myself, although it never really looked as good as a quality salon cut. I decided to face my fears and I'm so glad I did. Nicole was SO kind and did AMAZING in trimming and cutting my hair to perfection, exactly how I wanted it, without sacrificing any length. Highly recommend and this has become my new salon in Boston. The prices are WORTH IT!!Service:Curly hair
Loredana Lanzani: Cory is fantastic. He has a natural talent at cutting hair, and an intuitive understanding of the best style fit.
Celita Tye Seo: Positive:Cleanliness,Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality
Kyra Taylor: Cory was fantastic!! I will definitely be going back.
Natalie Navatta-Golia: Just found my new salon and stylist. Not only did I get a great cut, I got a free course on how to take care of my curls and bring out the beauty of them. Thank you Kelly!
Therese Perkins: Kelly is amazing. Professional. Curious. Knowledgeable.
Maria Rios: I loved my deva cut with Nicole!
Kseniia Bimbashi: Was in Mop salon a week ago - the experience was fantastic! Derek gave me a haircut on the long hair. First of all- he listened carefully about what I want: I wanted to cut my hair, but I wanted to be able to do a nice ponytail and secondly, I needed a low maintenance haircut. He did a great job: my husband said I look gorgeous when I got home and a week after I test it with all my favorite hairdo it looks great. Highly recommend this place!
chris2401: good cheap haircuts
Debby Ray: Lovely hair salon
21kkn: Excellent staff, and such a wonderful, relaxing environment. Haven't loved my hair until I got it done at mop Hair Salon!
Nina Carlson: I saw many reviews about this salon and my friend wanted to get ombre for her hair so, I recommended this place to her. She went to Yuri and the color came out really great. I then, went to get a hair cut a couple weeks ago and I loved her cut! She's really honest about any color or cut suggestions before she actually starts. She definitely has skill in both cut and color. She's amazing! I highly recommend her.

We were able to get on the waiting list and then get a room for 9 weeks. Such a blessing. Lots of volunteers cycle through to make meals or share music or other services while residents go through treatments. Extremely accepting and gracious community of folks struggling with cancer. Well supplied kitchens allow people to cook for themselves. You can find comfort with others or keep to yourself as there are many spaces to support a sense of both privacy and community. A few living rooms, library, craft room, big screen movie room. All residents ha a private suite with private bath. This place is such a gift to so many suffering tratments.

Salon Red & Spa Inc: what do users think?
Stephen Burke: Get my haircut by Kristen regularly at Salon Red and she does a fantastic job every time. Highly recommend her!Service:Haircut
Carol Gregory: Anyone know what happened to Arthur Harris and Salon Red? Arthur was my go-to for locs maintenance, and then one day, I called and no one answered the phone. I have moved on, but always wanted to know if Arthur is still in business.Service:Dreadlocks
Robin Neal: Great experience
Gigi Hunermund: I've been going to Arthur on and off for 10 years now. If I lived closer, I would go weekly. He has nursed my hair back from some serious mistakes. I have big chopped three times, first when I cut off my locs, a second time when a relaxer done by someone else ruined my hair and now I'm getting ready to call him again to fix this MESS of cut and color I recently got. I wouldn't trust anyone else to fix it. I'm just gonna have to deal with parking in the city because I swear no one else can do hair as good as him.
Lois P: Good service
Dominique Francon: Arthur Harris can NEVER retire.
D. Sinkler: Upon arrival i was treated like family and received great service and quality work...thank you
Lynn Julian: I bought a $165 Gift Certificate for a COLOR & CUT at a charity event. Upon arrival, it was ONLY for a "Junior Stylist." Their website claims a COLOR & CUT with a Jr Stylist is only $100. WTF? SO...I asked them for foil highlights for my LONG, BLACK HAIR instead, which was valued at the same price as my gift certificate on their website. They agreed to do them...first star for SALON RED.The "Junior Stylist" I was assigned to acted as if they had little to no experience doing hair highlights. He repeated asked another stylist how to apply them to me. He also needed help cutting my hair too. The tearful result was copper orange chunks AND damaged, dried-out long hair that takes YEARS TO GROW AGAIN!The Jr Stylist appeared very nervous, which, in turn made me very nervous during my entire 4 HOUR VISIT. Yes, it took 4 hours. I chose a reddish, CHERRY AUBURN BROWN color from their hair swatches, and he started doing my "full foil highlights."I'm told the Jr. Stylist I'd be happy with almost any color EXCEPT THAT COPPER ORANGE color bleaching leaves on most black hair. He reassured me that I wouldn't have anything close to that. Do you want "chunky highlights?" he asked. NO! I insisted. He laughed and assured me, again, that my "cherry auburn" highlights would blend naturally with my hair.He proceeded to cut my hair, but only 1/2" here and an 1" there...very cautiously. Finally, a Senior Stylist came over and showed him how to cut the hair to frame my face. The Sr. Stylist was VERY HELPFUL throughout my entire Cut & Color, and I give Salon Red 1 MORE STAR...For Her...*smile*Almost 4 HOURS later, my once beautiful, black hair is, indeed, full of UGLY, COPPER POT ORANGE, CHUNKY STRIPES! In shock, I didn't feel comfortable confronting him, as he'd worked so hard. Due to the poor lighting, I don't think the stylist could fully tell what a bad job he'd done. The "mood lighting" is SO DIM that even *I* really could not see just how BRASSY ORANGE my BLEACH JOB with TONER AKA "HIGHLIGHTS" really was... until I got home. The fact that I looked on the verge of tears *should* have said it all though. I'm proud I didn't cry over something as silly as my hair in front of them, as I know It will grow out...eventually.After reading their Google+ reviews today, I realize I'm far from alone. They offered "student cuts" for only $30, and that certainly felt like the cut I received for my $165 gift certificate.
