Dion Chay: My go-to for any issues I have with my sunglasses. The staff members were very helpful when I needed a minor fix to my favorite Von Zippers (this was after unsuccessful tried at Sunglass Hut and Macy’s). I’ll be sure to hit up this Cohen’s first from now on.

Out of three places, only here was able to replace my nose pad. and for FREE. He even went beyond to fix my loose hinges. Now my glasses is good as new! Nikia Phillips: Cohen's Fashion Optical used to be excellent when they were located on Washington Street in the Downtown Crossing Area as well.However, they're now located at 101 Arch Street and I have to tell you "Buy Beware".I have been wearing glasses since I was 9 and contacts since I was 21, I am now 41. (You'll see where I am going with this in a couple of minutes.) I'm going to cut the shirs talk, every other retailer I go to for contact lenses I always order a box. A box of contact lenses usually consist of 24 lenses. Today, Tuesday, May 7th I go in and I am presented with a smaller box which contains 12 lenses for about the same price as a 24 lens box.Therefore, I questioned it the guy whom works there seemed a bit aggitated and defensive. Nevertheless, this place is:1) overpriced2) they are beating business professionals that work in the area etc.2)they truly do not have a concept of "Customer Service"In fact, the male I dealt with this morning is loud, very rude and overbearing. Needless to say I won't be going to Cohen's Fashion Optical, no matter where it is.I won't even go into the transaction that left me with the $50 credit and that's why I ended up getting my contacts from there. They don't call you back when they say the will. It was one problem after the next.Customer Relations, if that's what you want to call it, consists of one female in a office, in another state.I'm going to leave my complaints right there...I'm just sucking it up because of the credit I had there.UPDATE: As you guys can see someone from Cohen's Optical Responded to this review but don't be fooled. I emailed her and to date (Wednesday, May 15th, 2019) I haven't heard back from anyone. It's synonymous on how they do business.

Kevin Sullivan: I walked in there the day I was leaving for Europe with no appointment to try to get my glasses, that broke, fixed. The man at the counter said he could not replace the part that was broken, but said I could get new glasses. He showed me different ones and I picked the one I liked. By that time the eye doctor was in and he saw me right away and performed an eye exam. While I was in my eye exam the man who puts the lenses in the glasses was in and he took my prescription and put the appropriate lenses in the glasses. I tried them on and left, all within an hour 5 hours before I left on my trip. This business is great, great and professional people, great in working with their customers, and great on getting things done quickly.

Chuck Fang: The people here know what they do. Michael especially is an expert on making the right glasses. I have high astigmatism in one eye and high myopia in the other, so tough situation where you need to make precise measurement for the lenses and good choices on the lens material. Previously, with other glasses stores, I have always had glasses that didn't sit well on my face because the weight between the two lenses was unbalanced or the material was poorly chosen. The pair of glasses that Mike made for me is the most comfortable one I have ever worn. I moved to another city and I ask the stores there to replicate exactly what Mike made me, and the optometrists all said that the pair was very well done.

Media: Great service from the doctor and staff behind the scene however.The woman at the desk dark woman with wavy long hair was super rude. She couldn't spell correctly or take a few numbers down then catches an attitude with me. That's her fault I'm not getting mad that I had to repeat it multiple times.At check out when she threw my precipitation as I had my hand out she left threw two different papers on the opposite side of the desk.I really don't want to come back for follow up someone rude as hell for what purpose your at a desk.

Ebony Morrison: This practice and the management exhibited behavior that go against the Hippocratic oath:Protecting the vulnerable involves standing up for the rights of those who may be unable to speak or act for themselves. Although all patients are to some extent vulnerable for they come for help to the practitioner, some are more vulnerable than others. . These include children, the frail elderly and patients who are unable to make decisions for themselves whilst some of these patients may not be considered autonomous by law (such as children) and others may be mentally unable to exercise autonomy, their dignity must at all times be respected and the duty of care the practitioner owes them may require a degree of protection that extends beyond the usual duty of care.My daughter was mistreated and bullied as well as held hostage at this practice when she went to receive an comprehensive eye exam. She is a young adult on the spectrum and a POC. This practice is "not" neurodivergent friendly. This practice has staff and optometrist that are not respectful to persons with disabilities, not racially informed although they staffed with indoctrinated POC (that does not love themselves or own race). This practice will be reported for the violations it has made. This practice was not compassionate about rectifying the issue but rather refunded the money to silence my daughter emotional pain. This was not a monetary issue this was an ethical and racially charged issue that did not come with an apology. Please be informed and aware before you go here for service.

Meyyz studio: I had a contact lens appointment with Dr.Cheung. Rushed appointment, the doctor didn't mention anything about the retinal digital pics she took. When I remembered about that at the time of paying, the front desk staff were extremely rude and they were upset when I asked to talk to the doctor about the retinal exam (that they charged me extra for). I wasn't even sure if the doctor had a chance to look at it before I asked. I've been having eye exams for the past 20 years and this is the worst experience. The only person that was pleasant and seemed un-rushed was the person that performed the pre-exam.Update based on owners response: yes I was 5 min late, not 15, but the doctor was not ready for me when I arrived. I was asked to wait even after I completed my paperwork.Also if you thought there wasn’t enough time to perform the exam, the appointment should have been cancelled instead of doing a half-job and charging the insurance the full amount.

Shanni Chen: Pro optical sent a pair of sunglasses to a vsp lab for lenses, the lenses came back with a visible patch work treatment pattern, simply unworkable quality in the polarization for comfortable use. Pro optical did not know how to simply QC uniformity of polarization by placing the lens in front of their own PC screens...which had to be demonstrated to them before they agreed to send back... This ordeal resulted in more than one failed pick up, wasting time and money, and demonstrated a frustrating misalignment in correctly delivering the service Pro optical agreed to perform. Unacceptable and disappointing, thus cannot recommend, unless there is express accountability and the issue is finally resolved.

She is detailed in answering any questions I have and does so in a way that I have a more complete understanding of the status of my eyes and prescription after leaving my appointment. She never seems in a rush to complete an appointment quickly, instead focusing on providing the best experience and quality of care.The rest of the staff are also friendly, helpful and courteous.After receiving subpar care at other optometrists offices in Boston, I'm glad to have found this place.

The front desk staff and Kyle, the optometric tech, are all very friendly and attentive each and every time! When I ran out of contact lenses and had to wait for my next appointment with Dr. Jost for a checkup to obtain another lens prescription, Sandra, the patient care coordinator, was nice enough to provide me some trial contact lenses of the exact brand and strength I needed to hold me over until my appointment - and all FREE of charge!! Finally, Dr. Jost always answers all of my questions and listens to my concerns. She is very caring and knowledgeable...Overall, this is one of the best optometrist teams I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with! I would definitely 100% recommend choosing ProOptical for all of your optometry needs! Wonderful patient care, always!!

There are some inaccuracies:-- I was seen yearly.-- You charge a lot for camera exam, that is out of pocket and not covered by insurance.However, at the time I wanted to limit the exposure due to Covid.

However, when I called to ask for help when I ran out of contacts unexpectedly, I was told in so many words to get lost. The receptionist stated that the doctor did not feel comfortable renewing a prescription unless I booked an appointment at least 11 days away. She said perhaps I should find another optometrist--and so I did.Re: Response from the owner.I appreciate the polite response you are providing now. The rude dismissiveness of your receptionist when I needed help was the opposite.

I was able to get in for an appointment the same day I called - but waited until an appointment the following day. Star: The man who owns this eye-shop is rude and unprofessional. Came in to buy glasses and he ignored me while he talked to a man for over ten minutes.At first I thought this man was a customer but as I listened they weren’t even taking about glasses. He didn’t hurry the conversation along even when I asked him questions about the brand I was looking for. He was talking to a white man so he probably placed more value on him. Not sure why since his shop is in a black community. Note: I was the only other customer in the shop, it was empty.So when I sat down patiently in his waiting area and he still took his sweet time, I got up & left.As for the selection it’s hideous. There’s 50 of the same style of Gucci glasses and it all looks dated. He’s local but would never support his business.

courtney gillard: So I got 2 pairs of glasses in January of 2022 I thought I had a great relationship with Bobbin who's the owner. I have bought 2 sets of glasses from him before. I got a pair of glasses and sunglasses, both were extremely expensive with his recommendation. One was a pair of Tiffany and company glasses, all white and ones that he suggested because he said "They don't even make these anymore. You should definitely get them, you know I can discount them because they're not available anymore." Which I thought was very kind. It is now October 2022 and my glasses he recommended fell apart. I just went in to see him to see if there is anything we can do and he said, "nope they are broken and you can't use the manufacturer warranty because they are to old." Doors are locked due to Covid restrictions/protocols, so Bobin, the owner, had to open the door in order for me to enter. He is very attentive and immediately met me at the door with a warm and welcoming smile. Once I got in, I could not believe the variety! Wow!Bobin invited me to take a look around the shop. Full disclosure, I’m a tortoise shell frame kind of girl—so pretty plain and classic is my go-to look. The frames I selected were all pretty plain. When I showed them to Bobin he said, “these are all the same, would you be willing to try a new style?” I was willing. He then asked me what my favorite color is, I told him blue. And he showed me a bunch of really cool and funky glasses I would never have picked on my own. He knew exactly what style would work for the shape of my face. And was really attentive to my commentary after each frame. Every time I shared a little more about what I liked or disliked, he took that info...and somehow found a frame that I liked a little more than the last. He’s good. I mean, *really* good.In the end, I got the most stylish glasses I’ve ever owned: a pair of “Anacole”, a French eyewear brand I was introduced to by Bobin. I left the shop with a *lot* of useful information, actually. Bobin really knows his stuff and I like that he took time to educate me, as well. I could go on and on about this place and how happy I was with the experience!All in all, this place is a hidden gem. Get your glasses from ‘eye and eye’ and tell your friends to, too. I promise you won’t regret it!

Chaiya Zalles: I have been going to Parelli Optical for probably over 25 years. Every visit has been met with excellence in care and personal attentiveness. The care and attention to individual detail, both historically and currently, instills a feeling they KNOW your case and needs, and proceed with your interest in mind, in collaboration with you. This is whether it is an eye exam, or new lenses. Each done with a high level of professionalism and knowledge. They are also always well organized, friendly, and a pleasure to be a customer.

Samantha Sheehy: My contact lens fitter, John Parrelli, worked with me for more than an hour to provide TONS of information about the contact lens industry, specific lenses, and what might work for me.  The extraneous information was appreciated but unnecessary - I must have heard him tell me how long he's been in business over 10 times.After the hour long initial appointment, I left with a pair of trial contacts, which I hated. I went back after a week, submitted to another "fitting" exam (still a full 45 minutes!)  and got a new pair of trial contacts, which I hated. When I went back a third time, I was very frustrated since I'd entered their office seeing just fine with my old contacts. The contact lens tech said she would need to see the old packaging from those contacts, which I didn't have. Also, I was realizing that my glasses were the wrong prescription as well. One day I tried to be very assertive and clear about my frustrations and what I wanted done, but I soon realized that the contact lens tech just didn't know what to do to help me see.It was a multiple appointment process with him having me do a test run of several different lenses to make sure that they lens sat properly on my eyes.  So much work.And once I finally had an Rx in hand, I discovered that because of my astigmatism (newly diagnosed by Dr. Parelli, ha), my health insurance wouldn't cover the "contact lens fitting fee" - an additional $175, that I had to pay out of pocket.This place is very expensive, very assertive in their sales tactics, and I won't be going back again (a 4th time).
Dmitry Merzon: I have a descent amount of astigmatism. I was always told by the bigger optical chains that there was no way to get my prescription into sunglasses that had any curve at all. Well, I got a really great pair of sunglasses from Parelli Optical in Porter Square today, something I was told for years couldn't be done. Great job, I'll be coming for a second pair soon!

Jonathan Ganc: Great experience. I went into Parelli about 2 months ago to get a glasses and contact script. I was first seen by Dr. Seligman. She was very meticulous and spent a lot of time to correctly measure an astigmatism in my glasses rx. Then, I was helped by Dr. Matt in checking my contact lens fit. I ended up trying on one pair of contacts, deciding it was too expensive, and then trying on another. I ended up seeing Dr. Matt three times. He was very competent but also very patient and kind. In retrospect, I know that I ended up using up a lot of Dr. Matt's time, but he never showed it in how he behaved.
Rated by Hanna: After being scammed by a local Optometrist, I was skeptical of going out of my way for a place 25+ minutes away without traffic. They squeezed me in a few weeks ago for an appointment before the end of the year push to use up FSA balances. Originally the first weekend opening they had wasn't until January! All of the staff there are top notch now that I have a clear confirmation of my other failed experience. I finally got a prescription that works for me and a pair of glasses that fit perfectly! My previous pair were way too strong in the astigmatism and instantly gave me a headache after 1 hour of wear.The founder, John Parrelli also helped fit me with the best dailies torric contact lenses. Even though he could have advised me to purchase several of the 30 packs he said since I don't wear the lenses too frequently it is better if I wait until the beginning of 2017 when they will release the 90 pack bulk option for even more savings. The staff took their time and care with me when assessing my vision along with considering my previous observations with my prescriptions to customize one for me.I love my new Black Fin titanium lenses and prescription sunnies! Also for anyone else shopping around this family-owned business is one of the few independent places not owned by the Luxottica monopoly! They also have locations in Beverly, Danvers, and North Andover.

Rachel Distler: while my experiences with the opticians I have seen there have been good; (though both of the Drs I worked with no longer work there), I find it VERY frustrating that they are very unresponsive to efforts at communication other than in appointments. If you call them by phone, you will likely be unable to get through, and if you call on Sunday or Monday, when they are closed, they don't even have a voicemail set up where you can leave messages. The email address on their website is wrong, so you also can't contact them by email. Also, when I got glasses there, they really tried to upsell me in a big way. I won't be going back there and would no longer recommend them.
Erin Ellingwood: This family-owned small business is where I've been coming for all my eye care needs for five plus years. The staff is friendly and helpful, the clinicians and technicians are top-notch, and the service is very personal. They have a huge selection of frames, including sunglasses and other specialty lenses. For contact lens wearers, they'll order your contacts for you, ship them to your house for free, and match any price you find online.
Lauren Bortolami: John Parrelli and his team changed my life. I have been going here for over 20 years. John spent close to one year researching the best eye surgeon due the complexity of double vision and a lazy eye and found Dr. Jennifer Mullon of Lexington Eye Associates in 2009. I just left Parrelli Optical for a eye and contact exam. I have to say all of these years I have left impressed with John and his staff as they take so much time to make sure you are where you need to be. I have had eye issues since the age of two. They have changed my prescription over the years because my eyes are so complicated. This place is not inexpensive but if you want the absolute best to be able to see and function properly you shouldn't look (no pun) any further. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I like to really understand about my body and she explains everything in detail and shows me the graphics that go along with the explanations. She's gotten my prescription correct where other's have not. I use my insurance for all eye exams, so that's a routine cost. I understand that I could probably get my glasses more inexpensively elsewhere, and may in the future, but I'll go to Dr. Seligman as long as she's there.
Linda Papatopoli: I've been coming to Parelli since I moved to Boston for graduate school at 21. Now I'm 62 and wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr.Parelli is the best in his field and he and and the staff will go to the ends of the earth to fit you just right and keep your eye health up-to-date.

Do I do so every few years, yes. If you have a simple eye problem don't bother, unless you want perfect lenses and interesting frames. If you have been having a problem, this is definitely the place to go.
