Consulate General of Italy in Boston: what do users think?
GC: Impossible to get an appointment or even on a waitlist for dual citizenship application. No one answers the phone, no one responds to emails. Directed to schedule appointment online and automatic response is “no available dates.” No alternatives. I’ve been trying literally for years. All that work to prove eligibility, collect all the official documents and be fully prepared to submit application and absolutely nowhere to take it. It’s truly unbelievable.PS: did I mention the dysfunctional website??
Mohammad Dehghani: My experience at the Italy consulate office in Boston was exceptional. Here are five important experiences that made my visit outstanding: Friendly and respectful staff: The staff at the consulate office were not only professional, but also friendly and respectful. Their welcoming attitude put me at ease and made the visa application process stress-free. Reasonable waiting time: The appointment waiting time was reasonable, and I did not have to wait for an extended period. This was a relief, as I had other plans for the day. Helpful officer: The officer in charge of the visa application process was very helpful and guided me through the process step by step. They ensured that all my documents were in order and answered all my queries patiently. Hassle-free application process: I did not feel rushed or stressed during the application process. The officer took the time to explain the requirements and the process, which made it easier for me to understand and complete the application. Timely visa processing: The visa processing time was also reasonable, and I received my visa on time. This allowed me to plan my trip without any last-minute rush.Overall, I am grateful for the exceptional service I received at the Italy consulate office in Boston. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking to obtain a Schengen visa.
Vinay T: I’ve had superb experience at this consulate for my Schengen visa application. Antonio and Federico have been very much helpful through the process. I really appreciate their efforts to maintain highest level of transparency and quality of service for Visa processing.
Banseri Vyas: Very helpful staff.Amazing experience.Very efficient and hardworking staff who will guide you throughout the process 💛
Kaushal Panchal: People at the consulate were very helpful and kind. Liked the environment at the embassy.
Goutham S: I had a wonderful experience at the Italian Consulate in Boston earlier this week. The officer was courteous, efficient and went through the process smoothly and without unnecessary hurry. I had change of plans with my travel date after my Schengen visa was issued and the officer was very kind to listen to my situation and issue me a new visa without any additional charges. Very organized office and I never had to wait over 20mins. Thank you very much consular officers!
Linda Gennari: I have emailed Ms. Lucia Alla numerous times inquiring about the document I mailed her and the turnaround time to receive my Italian citizenship.... I don't understand Ms. Allas' indifference to responding to emails from American citizens with blood rights to Italian citizenship. The process to obtain my Italian citizen from my mother's lineage, who was an Italian citizen when she gave birth to me, is arduous at best, the fact that people have to then deal with someone like Ms. Alla in the process is cruel. She is completely indifferent to the people she is hired to serve. Can anyone answer how long does it take after one's application for Italian citizenship has been approved to receive their citizenship?
Gina Vitiello: I would love to know if there is a secret in obtaining JS citizenship that I dont know about If anyone knows it, can you please reveal it ?? . I I have been trying for over a year and nothing!!! I can not go to Italy for 3 months and the consulate does not allow anyone to use another embassy For the love of God and his children, what is the solution?
Melinda Apollonio: My husband needed to renew his passaport it took us a while to get an appointment when we got there they were efficient polite respectful and he got his passaport before the appointment was over
Elizabeth Johansson Aponovich: My husband and I spend months gathering the documents needed to apply for Visas. We had much anxiety about this, but once we got to the Consulate in Boston we relaxed as we found the signore that we spoke with in the Visa office very helpful in providing information we needed to complete our application requirements. We returned a week later with everything and it was with shared delight that we signed our application and gave him our passports. In the next week Signor Fioretta called to say that we could come to Boston to pick up our visas! We were so happy and we thank Signor Fioretta for all his kind assistance in this 'milestone' of our lives. Grazie mille! Elizabeth & James
somdatta ray: I had a wonderful experience at the Consulate for my Tourist visa interview. The Visa Officer - Antonio was extremely respectful and cordial. He systematically asked me for each document one by one and in between He asked me relevant questions. I was not scared or nervous at all. Everyone is extremely helpful, and he even provided me with travel tips. All in all a very smooth experience.Update : Got my passport back with a stamped visa using the mail in option. Took a total 7 days from the day of interview.
nicholas fomin: Had an emergency situation where I needed a new passport and the consulate was extremely kind and expedient. I was able to get my passport in time and everything worked out. Thank you, Barbara!
Ijebusonma Agundu: I was nervous for this. My first try I didn’t have all my documents but the gentleman in front was kind enough to give me one day grace in coming back tomorrow to submit all my documents. I am nervous again but I am grateful that he allowed me once again a day after instead of next month which could cause delays. So thank you whoever you are that worked with me. I never got the name but I appreciate it
Lily Fuller: I was beginning to stress about my trip to Milan as my departure date was coming close and I had yet to receive the documents needed for my visa. I went down to the consulate the day before my flight and spoke with Federico who provided me with alternative solutions to hopefully be able to acquire my visa in time. Luckily, with much support from my university, I received all of the paperwork needed to acquire my visa and met with Antonio the morning of my flight. Both he and Federico were super patient and helpful and were able to supply me with my visa within the hour so I could make my 5:30 PM flight. They took so much stress off my shoulders and I would not be writing this from Italy now if it was not for them. Huge thank you to you both!! Grazie mille!!
Elena Rykova: After being sent out from a consulate in NYC (which is super messy and disorganized), I’ve been extremely satisfied with incomparably better services and attitude in consulate general in Boston. I had a flight in two weeks and within an hour I was able to schedule an urgent appointment in Boston. The officers are very friendly and understanding. They are even smiling! I had a couple of documents missing and I was allowed to send them by email the next day. It’s possible to pay money order by cash instead, I didn’t have to pay it in advance. All information on the website is correct and thorough. I got my visa and n 2 business days. Incredible service! Thank you so very much!
Omar Zaire: They never answer the phone, nor call you back when you leave multiple VERY urgent messages, not even emails!
Tania Bello Remole: I was impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of this consulate team! Staff were incredibly communicative, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Rohan Sandhu: I had the most excellent experience with the Consulate. They were quick to respond to my emails, were incredibly supportive through the process, and were willing to accommodate my schedule while booking and changing appointment times!
Ramy Salem: The best experience ever we had today with Antonio he was amazingly nice, helpful informative and knowledgeable. I have been to too many consulates all over the world all of them were nice but Antonio was something else. He is great representation for the historical Italy.Thank you Antonio and thank you Italian Consulate for a good choice of your employees.
Ms. alona: Never try to reach here, you will not receive calls back, emails and voice messages, I have been trying to do this for at least 2 weeks.

Consulate General of Japan in Boston: what do users think?
Roche Donato: Ok, you'll see a lot of negative review about this place but I did have a great time in the consulate. I believe in order for you to enjoy it is to bring all the things they need for you to get a Japanese Visa. Check their website, try calling them, and check some YouTube videos.
Jacky Liu: I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews here. I called the consulate before I submitted my visa application and today I walked in. Both experiences were great. The staff was very friendly and professional. I was disappointed that I could only get a single entry visa for the first time application, but she explained it was the policy. I will definitely go back and get a multi-entry visa in the future.
Guanglin Yu: They make up rules that contradict their own polices listed on website. It is a shame that Consulate General of a country does not acknowledge its policies. This place definitely needs a new leader giving so many negative comments here.
T K: Their attitude was not so bad, but the web page did not say they only accept CASH, and they charge fees each certificate. The web says only "$16 for certificate". It's confusing. It should say cleary those two things on their web page. I had to run to next building to get cash. That's very inconvenient and obsolete, should accept debit or credit card. I would like to state that the fee is expensive.
Mingyue Lao: I dont know about the bad reviews, but my experience to apply for long term visa was smooth and completed even DHL delayed my document.
Will Brown: I had an excellent experience at the consulate! All of the staff were exceptionally kind and pleasant to work with, and the process was streamlined and easy to follow. All of the security staff were especially outstanding!! Thank you!
Ashley Sullivan: I was nervous after seeing the reviews but we had a quick and polite visit to getl ong term visas. Including Christmas and new years, we were told our visas will be ready in 14 days
Prokillzz: No idea why there are negative reviews. My visa application was fast, respectful, and easy. Don't quite like that I have to go back next week to pick it up but that's just how it is.
Raven: The most unprofessional person I ever encountered (and reading through other negative comments, I know it could be the same person, sigh.) First of all, she didn’t even care to review my documents and after a peak, she gave most of them back to me - seem to me that these were not required. After on, she asked for some of the documents that contained in that set of docs she returned to me. ok - as long as you get what you need. She then asked for another document and while I retrived it from the folder I brought with me, she left the counter, leaving me standing there unaddressed. Shocked and disappointed. I thought she might come back to take the additional document but until another person behind the counter asked me whether this was a part of the supporting documents, I realized - oh, she (the one assisted with me initially) just headed back to initiate her review of my docs without saying a word until this person told me to take a seat and wait a little.Hope someone could teach her how to treat others - at least her parents didn’t do a good job. This is very unpleasant but if that's how she has been treated and reflected on her, such a pity then. My bad luck.
Josh Burke: Most of the staff are nice and helpful but from time to time you do encounter someone who is rude for no good reason 😬
K H: I'm almost certain that all of the negative reviews are because of a specific woman who works at the office. This person is without a doubt the most condescending, disgusting individual that I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. It unfortunately slipped my mind that the embassy does not take credit card, and when I told her that I wasn't carrying any cash she said, "あらら... ざんねん. どうするの?". I was appalled by her unbelievably unprofessional and rude remark (made worse by her tone of voice) and was furthermore stunned when she just walked away to the back without a goodbye, or something of the sort.As a Japanese person myself, I almost feel it's necessary to apologize on her behalf if you had a sour experience at the embassy due to her, as her behavior is not a reflection of our common character. I would like to mention though that plenty of the individuals behind the office are caring and kind, and so I'm at a bit of a crossroads as to how I feel about my overall experience.
Jacqueline Caron: Even though I was well prepared and polite the staff were unkind, disorganized and condescending. I went there to apply for a visa without my husband ( who is Japanese) because we are going to visit my in-laws. I found that they are very cold towards foreign people. They talked to me as if I was a dog. Why work in a consulate if you hate foreigners? It’s a shame to represent your country this way.Ultimately, It was humiliating and I felt angry. I wanted to be rude back, but instead I bit my tongue, said thank you and tried to demonstrate kindness. I told myself that maybe they are faced with a lot of rude foreign people. But, even so it is a privilege to work in a consulate and there is no justification for being rude - especially if your customer is being respectful.I really wanted to represent Americans well and strengthen our countries relationships by acting with empathy, especially because my family are Japanese. But, it’s difficult to do it when you are being treated poorly.Very disappointing.
Christopher Husson: Very friendly service.
Anil Bhandari: Great people, great service.
Steve Long: Disappointing to drive an hour and a half each way to pick up a passport (which they will not ship), prepared to pay in cash (because they don't accept check or credit card), only to find that they were closed - even though their website and the document they gave me indicated they were only closed New Year's Day & MLK Day, should have been open Jan 3rd.
Peter Berger: The staff was quick, efficient and very helpful.
Ken Schwarz: They couldn't have been nicer or more efficient in responding to my visa application. In preparing my documentation (which is extensive, but not the CG's fault), I had a question. So, I called the Boston office. They immediately picked up and helped me on the phone. I submitted my paperwork by email, but omitted one item that turned out to be required. The next day they sent me a note asking for that, which I supplied, and a week later I got a notice that my visa was ready. Come on in and get it. Which I did. I waited exactly 30 seconds for my turn at the window. I gave them my passport, and before I had time to read my email the visa was ready. They gave me additional information regarding quarantine rules, which answered all the questions I had about that. Very positive experience.
Jingyi Zhao: brought everything I was told to bring, and they ended up requesting extra documents/charging extra.
Tara Connolly: In 2019 I applied for a Japanese work visa and it was a fine experience. Not good not bad. But this time I'm applying for a Spanish student visa that requires international background checks. The program I applied for instructed me that I don't need an appointment and I didn't question it because I didn't need one before. But this time they needed one but let me in anyway. If they said, "sorry you need an appointment " and then turned me away I would have accepted that and then made appointment. At the counter the woman yelled at me. By Jaapanese standards it was pretty scalding. She said "you cannot just walk in without an appointment! Everyone here has an appointment!" I'm sorry that A. You didn't need one before B. I was instructed that I didn't need one and C. Why was I let in if you didn't want me to not have an appointment!I would've understood!!!!!!
john oleary: Yesterday I went to the consulate to do a yearly “proof of life” with my wife so that she could continue to recieve her Japan pension. I only speak English and my wife has mild dementia. The young lady who helped us was incredible. She was extremely patient and made an extra effort to help us complete the required paperwork. She did so much more than anyone could reasonably expect. A great experience
Generally speaking, employees at Japanese Embassy & Consulate are known for being rude, even among Japanese citizens. When I visited this place to renew my passport, however, I did not find the tiniest rudeness from any of the employees; they all were efficient and courteous (all were females). It could have been due to the fact that I used formal Japanese over the phone & email, and I went there when they weren't busy. This Consulate is located on the 22nd floor at the FRB building.

British Consulate General: what do users think?
Xani Bajrami: Never answering to a phone call!
Marc Andreoli: How do I get in touch with a human? Very frustrating phone experience.
Scott S: Can't get an answer to my question. I want to speak to a human but it is impossible.
Alex Bhatty: TERRIBLE!!!!!!!I have been trying to get information from the Cambridge office their phone number DOES NOT WORK! They don't have any email listed! How can I get in touch with a human?
Edward Rispin: Quick and very friendly issue of Emergency Passport after loss two weeks before on a bus. This gave time to get an appointment sorted out. I can't comment on how it would work in a more time pressured situation. I would say that they should have a buzzer at the entrance as I couldn't get back in to ask a question once I'd left!
Janak Joshi: This place is hilarious!!!! Funny staff appears to be absolutely clueless about anything. Not sure if they even know where they are and what they r supposed to do. Absolute joke! Feel sorry for folks in emergency situations. This place is border lining on a mental institute.
Kate Jones: My father passed away suddenly and I needed an emergency passport. The earliest appointment I could get was 6 days later-hardly helpful in an emergency! Also, the web site tells you the appointment is not confirmed and you shouldn’t make travel plans until the consulate contacts you. I waited 2 days and then called as I hadn’t heard anything and desperately needed to make plans. After navigating the infuriating message system I finally was able to talk to someone who wasn’t based in Boston. She was great and seemed genuinely disappointed that no one had contacted me. She was able to contact someone at the consulate in NY who confirmed my appointment so I could at least book a flight. I haven’t had my appointment yet and will update this review after I have. But my general feeling is one of extreme disappointment and frustration that the consulate is so inefficient and isn’t there to help in an emergency at all. Zero stars. Terrible service.
Jen Franklin: Should be closed down,no service whatsoever.New York is the place to be to get things done.
greg jones: "Zero" would be more accurate. Does anyone know how to get beyond the plummy robo-voice to actually talk with a person?
Denis KH: Nope, no service there... Trash phone number.
Hongjiang Lee: If I can, I will rate it as negative 5 stars. The guy in that place have no any idea about consulate issues, the only thing they did is just ask you pay money and refused to refund even it is their fault. One more thing, they never replay email. if you want a UK visa in a express way, in my experience, just buy a priority package directly from Uk visa website, and mail every thing to NewYork, then you will get it in 5 days for sure.
Madeleine Wood: Really helpful and friendly. Couldn’t fault the online booking service. Had an emergency passport in 20 mins!
Jared Farley: Absolutely useless. The phone number just refers you back to their website. No walk in services are provided so don't bother to go in person and expect to be helped.
Bradford Lingham: Not even worth a single star: The worst customer service line ever with NO OPTIONS to speak live.
M Bl: A circumvent way of not receiving questions and not providing answers.
Corinna D'Schoto: Useless
Su Zheng: I would rate the service center 0 star had I been given the choice. The phone number is completely useless and helpless! They need to do a better job!
Adam Smith: My advice to anyone using this service is that you need to desperately exaggerate the seriousness of your situation if you want to get anywhere.
Rafael Adams: Completely useless phone number that will simply refer you back to itself. Pathetic
Monica Bertoia: Very frustrating that there is only an answering service and the answering service says they do not help with visa questions.
Rik par: soooo frustrating - no live answer at all - just a recording sending you back to the web site!! NOT a good public relations experience for the first point of contact!!!

Many thanks to all your assistance, and so glad we will be in Spain soon as planned.A tip for parking, you can buy online $9 for 3 hours parking at the 10 St. James Ave parking garage, which is just cross the road to the Consulate.
Jose Gonzalo: In the last two weeks I have needed the services of the Spanish Consulate General to renew my passport and to obtain a residence certificate. Both transactions were efficiently carried out. The staff in charge of receiving us at the consulate was very diligent and friendly, as was the person in charge of helping us
Danilo Ciccola: Staff is unbelievably kind. Process was fast and easy. Thanks
Rafael Porrata-Doria: Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. They provided excellent service.
Luis Menéndez-Antuña: It is like the 5th time I have come to the Consulate, and the people have always been so helpful!
Silvia Sobral: I have lived in Boston for almost 20 years now, I registered, had kids and registered them, got passports and renewals for all of us, etc. Years ago I did have difficulties on a couple of occasions trying to communicate and get appointments, but my general experience, especially in the last few years, has been excellent: fast communication when making enquiries through e-mail (as instructed in their website) and friendly, efficient support in the office. ¡Gracias!

Assisted by the lovely Ulla, we were serviced within five minutes of arriving, the whole process was super pleasant and efficient! As a result, I could marry the love of my life two days later. Consulate General of the Dominican Republic: what do users think?
Rit Adraille: I called the number and a lady picked up , as soon as I started speaking English she hung up one me !
Bray COD: The worst Dominican consulate in the whole worldDon't waste your time here
rosa p: Worst place ever. No one ever pick up the phone website not even with enough info. If you go there in person plan to spend all day. The secretary looking pretty making jokes with the other workers. Shame
Jericó Díaz: Very bad experience…they don’t have an organized system to work, not even a list to put your name in the same order you are coming in, and not even help elder people when they are alone…It’s really a very poor service, when you call they declined it, so they don’t take it , and only allowed to use a Whatasaap number, not to even mention when you go to the lobby to go upstairs in the office, a very hard situation because you need to text the Whatasaap firstHopefully the officials see this review and all that I’ve seen people have written, so they can get better service for us , the taxpayers
Belkys Feeney: They don't answer the phone
J&LImmigrationServices: EL PEOR SERVICIO QUE HAYA EXISTIDO.
Sinthya Rosa: Terrible customer service and very unprofessional
