Boxaroo - Boston Room Escape: what do users think?
Stephanie Yang: I've done about 15 escape rooms so far, and this one ranks near the top. Did the conundrum museum, the puzzles were very well integrated with the theme and there was enough for all of us to be working on different things at the same time. Would highly recommend. Excited to come back to try the other rooms!-----5/6/2023 EDIT:I have now played all of the rooms at this company! My favorite one was the Storyteller's secret, followed by the Magician's Study and Conundrum Museum. Well-designed puzzles, helpful GMs that push you in the right direction with hints, and a comprehensive escape room "report" that shows how you did compared to other teams - it's super cool to see the data on what puzzles you did well on and which ones you needed an extra push on.Would definitely recommend these rooms!
Tyler: This was a blast. The magician room had such a fun scenario, the mood, lighting, effects, and music were so immersive. I highly recommend you try them out.
Ryan Davis: Fun escape room with a really engaging theme/mechanics.
Derek AuBuchon: Five stars don't do this place justice.Recently finished Storyteller's Secret and Conundrum Museum. Even after 100+ escape rooms, I was surprised with some new puzzle types.Boxaroo is a must even if you're reasonably close to Boston. Find time, cancel your other appointments, just go...
Isabel Rodriguez: Wes was a really great host, and the magician room was so much fun! I didnt realize the hints were the host in real time and not just prerecorded messages so my apologies for swearing at you a lot
Vanessa Dudley: Excellent experience. Super unique and well thought out puzzles. Will definitely be returning on our next trip into town.
Kendall Bell: Fun, well designed escape room. Everything was well organized. My group did the room that was advertised on the website as the second hardest room, but our game master thought that it was the easiest room. We were hoping for a little more of a challenge. But we thoroughly enjoyed our time there
Mike Fougere: First time going to Boxaroo, but I've done a bunch of escape rooms in MA/RI/CT, and this one definitely stacks up against the best I've seen. The room we did (Storyteller's Secret) was a well constructed room with great layout, props, and fun secrets to discover as the room played out. The puzzle were challenging but very fair and logical (unlike other escape room companies I won't name, where some puzzles feel like you'd have to be the person who designed it to have even a chance to figure out what they wanted you to do). The hint system was very well integrated into this room, and felt like just the right level of nudging to help direct you towards figuring out whatever you were stumped on, rather than just giving it to you. Staff were super friendly as well. Absolutely will return to do the other rooms here.
Chelsea Burke: Had a phenomenal time at Boxaroo today; we did Storyteller’s Secret with two people. Wes was wonderful and the room was top notch. Really interesting puzzles, theming, and engaging throughout. 10/10 would recommend!
N*** M: This escape room is great. It is really well laid out and thought provoking. So much fun!
Melinda Magleby: The Storyteller’s Secret is incredible! Fun for all ages and beautifully designed.
lol z: I've been here twice and loved both times! Staff very friendly, hints helpful, and the puzzles are challenging and well-thought out! Not to mention the decor and room designs are so fun to explore and be in! Will be returning for the third room and recommend to all in the area!
Benjamin Dombrowski: Super all around!
Todd Chapin: We had a great time. The staff was helpful and explained things well. The puzzles were great and we all had a ton of fun.
Karen Chasse: Great rooms. Time to ditch the mask mandate.
Julia Chernushevich: Amazing experience, thank you!
Steve Yates: Well done. Very engaging.
Megan Jacobs: LOVED our experience here! We did the storyteller one with 4 people and it was fantastic! A full sensory experience, creative & challenging but achievable, we LOVED it. We’ll be back!
Roxanne Meyer: The storyteller’s secret was AMAZING!! This was by far the best experience we’ve had (including chicago, Austin and Portland). Great story, hard but not impossible and perfect for 4 people! As soon as we finished, we wanted to do another room they had! Would come back for sure!!
Sarah Hay-Sutton: The staff is so wonderful!! Warm, welcoming, high energy. Can't wait to return.
Justin Zeng: bad

Room Escapers - Boston Escape Rooms: what do users think?
Arday Ricker: Spoke with a representative the day of my booking due to not being able to make it. Was informed I’d received vouchers for my purchase. Once I realized they didn’t come I emailed them. Someone responded no name attached, stating they were waiting for me I didn’t show etc when I responded informing them that it was false and I actually spoke with someone I haven’t heard back. Decided to try the other escape room in Boston as reviews mentioned.
Sam Hirschhorn: Our group of 4 had a great time in the room. As a more experienced group, we found the puzzles both challenging and fun. The creativity of the room itself exceeded our expectations- great mix of classic puzzles and technology. Jake was an awesome host!
Angelica Eling: We really wanted to like this place. Honestly the idea of tying the history of the building to the story of the game was super exciting to me and my husband and the reason why we booked Panacea. We are done over 60 rooms together and are always looking for something novel. Overall it just missed the mark. Our GM was great, but she kept apologizing for the fact that some of the puzzles are clunky when she obviously wasn’t the one responsible for building them. Many of the elements were worn or just not built well in the first place, and overall it could just use some major TLC. Definitely other better options in Boston if you’re looking for a good escape experience. This one could definitely be better with some love, time, and money invested in making it more of an immersive experience.
Josef Esterzon: Great Room Escape in the heart of Old Boston.Staff was very helpful with online technical issues booking, to make sure we could make the last session the night before our departure. This was an impromptu idea because it was rainy so the family was really happy to get out of the hotel room. Our conductor Braiden was super nice and professional. The decoration, furniture, and general items were very well designed and set up. The experience was very imerssive and visual. The challenges were very engaging and overall I would highly recommend the PANACEA room, and we will certainly come back to try other rooms in the future when we come back to visit Boston.
fdoc100: Great location, great game rooms, and great staff!
Austin Woodworth: Nadia made sure we had an awesome time. Me and my girlfriend made it through the pirate ship with 6 minutes to spare. This was my 3rd escape room and by far my favorite. 10/10 would come back again.
Glittery Bees: Great fun for a good size team of 11 year olds with 2 adults. We did the Apothecary and these kiddos did most of the work themselves. Fun and immersive designs with an engaged staff. We will be back.
Jessica Caless: My friends and I visited Room Escapers yesterday and played Panacea and Organized Chaos. These rooms were both very unique in their own ways and the room design for theme was very well done. Personally Panacea was a standout favorite for me! Organized Chaos is definitely different from any other escape room I’ve done and it was an interesting change of pace! Both rooms were extremely fun and we really enjoyed the different types of puzzles we got to interact with across the two rooms! Our game master, Nicole, was great as well! Very personable and you can tell she truly enjoys what she does. We can’t wait to go back for more rooms in the future!
Michael Chia: My friends invited me into the room. It was really difficult for me and I asked the guys to help. I promised to write a review if they help me! But they gave a chance to do it themselves. That was really cool!
Salma Badr: It is so much fun ! I want to do it over and over again ! The game controller was very friendly and made us feel the game, we were in a group of two but I suggest to do it in at least group of four ! Worth the money 👋
Arthur Sorrell: My first experience! Great room and really awesome welcoming staff.
Rasheed Bustamam: As an escape room connoisseur (30+ escaped), this is one of the best. Our game master was really cool, knew her stuff, and gave helpful hints. Would go again!
Sarah Bahman: A lot of fun for group activity. Came here with a couple of friends and enjoyed the ‘organized crime’ room.
Glenn Townsend: Great time, their easiest room is still lots of fun, looking forward to the hard ones
Anirudh Pillai: Way more fun and interesting than other escape rooms I have tried
TechPro Bost: Great experience. Good fun with friends
Didier Carette: We did organized chaos. I have done 5 escape rooms both in the USA and abroad and this one would be second to last. I wish there were more hidden stuff, evidence smartly hidden. Too much reading too. While I do understand the character and the vibe the creators of this place want to give it just didn’t create that spark of joy that other escape rooms manage do.
Tanvi Tandon: Our experience here was awesome! My boyfriend and I did 'The Lost Ship' room. It was a Wednesday 7pm booking, so just the two of us took on the challenge without anyone else booking in. And we escaped with 90 seconds to spare!! Our guide, Captain Charles, did a fantastic job introducing the room to us with this whole back story to set us up. If you pay close attention, there are clues in everything he's saying as well. The room itself was the best part. It was actually several rooms all joined together and from the lobby you had to figure out how to even enter the main room in the first place—super cool! I had never seen anything like that before. The puzzles were also really well thought out and interesting, using logic and problem solving (not at all abstract or random). Of all the escape rooms I have done, I would say that this has been the best experience I have had because of the attention to detail in the room, the quality of the puzzles, and the experience of being able to solve it with just the two of us.The room is actually designed for at least 6 people, because it would have been helpful for others to take on and simultaneously solve riddles in the room. I'm pretty amazed we were able to do it with just 2 (but it was mostly because we had a few timely hints... big ones, lol). Awesome experience, highly recommend!!!P.S. - This location has only this room (Pirate's Booty 2 - The Lost Ship), and the other rooms are in their downtown location. So don't be confused ^_^
Ian M: My friends and I have done about 20 escape rooms and this was among the best. The puzzles were challenging but intuitive and clever, the theme was interesting and well executed, and everything felt well-made and rewarding to solve. Good for both first-time room escapers or experienced Houdinis!
Cecile Braun-Jones: Had a great family outing there after the holidays. Fun for all. Multi room set up in a pirate theme
Pearl Fedrick: A FUN Night

Red Fox Escapes: what do users think?
Jon Emmons: Fun puzzles, a good, cohesive experience and great staff. Highly recommend!
Aldrin Gaffud: Really fun for puzzle-lovers. The Heist took a common concept and gave it a unique experience. Challenging at points, but the hints of the Gamemaster were super helpful without exposing the answers.
Miguel Cortes: Lots of fun and expansive puzzles to solve. Quinn was super nice!
Chloe McCormick: We had so much fun playing the U-Boat! The puzzles were super engaging and there were a few moments that made our jaws drop! Hallie was a great game master and definitely helped us out along the way. So fun!
micro teaching 1: We had a great experience at Red Fox! Queen is the BEST:) Thank you for making the day very special for all of us!
Zainab Khalil: We did the heist and we loved it! The plot was intriguing and original. Nico was lovely and the right amount of helpful.
Mariana Maranga: This was such a cool escape room! There were so many layers and puzzles at every step. My group did the heist and we would recommend it to everyone! The game master, Nico, was also very enthusiastic and helpful.
Alana Loveys: Well done and super fun escape room! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area to experience. The “Body Shop” was full of surprises.
Kelley Vail: Bianca was our host for The Heist, and she did an amazing job. We had a great time!
Christina Koller: Best escape room I've ever done!!!
Veronika Hammond: really fun and challenging, and bianca is great!
Aram Barsumian: Great run! Bianca was great!
joseph loconte: The heist was a lot of fun and challenging. Great puzzles and visuals. Highly recommended.
Pallas Chou: Red Fox made me fall in love with escape rooms. I’ve done The Heist, U-Boat, and Body Shop, and all of them are stellar in different ways. All in all, the Red Fox games have wonderful logical flow in the puzzles (there is a logical reason behind each step of the puzzle solution, rather than a shot in the dark), as well as really makes you feel like you’re in the setting.Red Fox would be a perfect place for a lab outing, a friend outing, team-building, etc. Everyone I’ve been to a game with has talked with me about the game much longer after we finished it, sparking great conversation. It’s a stress-free way to have fun, make mistakes, solve puzzles, and more. I’ve been in these escape rooms with people of so many different ages and with varying levels of escape room experience (0 rooms to 8 rooms prior) and each one has been extremely happy. By far, Red Fox has been one of the best memories I’ve ever had, and I would strongly recommend it.The 1st escape room I have ever done in my life was The Heist, with my boyfriend. The Heist was extremely immersive, involving tools that build upon the plot. The solutions to puzzles were extremely elegant. Since part of it is themed after an art museum, it is also incredibly beautiful. I would recommend this game for people who enjoy art or pattern recognition. This game had a very elegant feel.Since the Heist was my first escape room, Red Fox provided me with personalized hints when I was stuck for an extended period of time. These hints allowed me to figure out the puzzles with a sense of accomplishment, while not being overly direct. The 2nd Red Fox escape room I did was The Body Shop, and I did this with 3 others of the same nonprofit I am in. Again, the game was extremely immersive and creative. Many of the puzzles had a visual component that was extremely creative and well-designed. This game takes place in a body shop, and the feel is true to its theming. You actually feel like you’re in a body shop, repairing items, etc. There are so many types of puzzles, and they all fall in line with the theming. There’s also a surprise! I recommend this game for people who like puzzles that involve your hands quite a bit, as well as your brain.I completed U-Boat the most recently with 4 others (sibling and friends). This game is more difficult compared to the other two. You really feel like you’re in the U-Boat. This game is more “quantitative” in feel than the others, in the sense that it involves more valves and sensors. The game takes place during the WW2 era, which the game reflects in its types of puzzles. The game was a joy to be a part of not only because I was able to work with my team to figure out challenging puzzles but also because I learned a bit more about the physics behind U-Boats. Fear not, you don’t need to know physics to do the U-Boat, though! I recommend this game for people who want a greater challenge and who would enjoy the theming I mentioned. The people behind Red Fox are very warm and lovely. During my U-Boat game, I saw one of my previous cluemasters, and he remembered me and greeted me with enthusiasm. Marie, one of the owners, who also monitors the phone, was also always super helpful whenever I had any questions. They truly go above and beyond to make each experience special for their guests, and this extends from even before you step into the door to when they give you hints to help you stay on track (unless you don’t want them), to when they patiently explain solutions to you after the game (sometimes, when I split up some tasks with people, I want parts that others have done to be explained after the game) and the logic behind them. After the Heist, because it was such a magical experience, I have done ~10 escape rooms in total elsewhere. The quality of the Red Fox escape rooms really stand out both in the quality of the puzzles, as well as the design of the rooms (you may love Red Fox even if you’ve had a subpar experience elsewhere). There is evidently a huge attention to detail placed into designing and making each game.
Daniel Wohl: Great experience. Bianca was so fun and helpful.
Desiree Patten: Best escape room I've done. The puzzles were unique and challenging! Bianca was fantastic!
Kim Le: Had a great time! We were 4 adults and 5 kids (6-12yo) and everyone enjoyed it. Bianca was a super host! Thank you 😊
Khanh Le: We had a great time at Red Fox Escape! Bianca was very kind and helpful throughout our experience. We were a family with kids between 6-12yo and even though the puzzles were challenging, the young ones had a great time. Highly recommended! Thank you!
Jayme Mask: Red fox always has creative puzzles and rooms that never fail to impress. Danya was amazing!
Alpamys Tauken: The best quests in Boston I have visited. Piece of art 🔥
Anais Abrego: I did the art heist escape room and it was fantastic!! Our game master Hallie was great.

Puzzle Break Newton - Escape Room: what do users think?
Luke Dannenberg: Very friendly staff and the birthday party went great, fun was had by all!
Jonah Berman: Our 10 year-old loved his birthday party at Puzzle Break! Regina and the whole staff were wonderful. Highly recommend!
Rebecca Carrier: We had a wonderful party at Puzzle Break for our daughter's 9th birthday! Scheduling the party was super easy, and they took care of everything - we just brought cake and some balloons. The party room was festive, clean, and nicely set up. We were allowed in a little early to put up additional decorations, but the room was already very cute, even without additional decoration. The person who helped us with the party couldn't have been better - he was polite, responsive, fun, and gave just the right amount of direction to the children during the escape room experience. He brought in a speaker and helped us get music set up in the party room, and brought a lighter and candles since we forgot them! The kids had a BLAST in the room - they were so excited and engaged the entire time. The puzzles were challenging, but the assistant gave just the right amount of clues so the girls felt they were solving the puzzles, but weren't lost. It was super fun for all, and speaking with others who've had parties there, they've had similar experiences. Great place!
Rachel Smith Egbert: My son had a great 10th birthday here- they took care of everything and the staff went above and beyond!
Torben Krahnstoever: I went with a big group it was very fun staff were good at giving us tips and hints when we got stuck
Ruchi Bhasin: The staff was very helpful and kept bringing extra drinks for the party and were extra attentive and cooperative considering there were so many young and energetic guests
Lindsey Hopper: This past week, I brought my group of 40 4th and 5th grade students to Puzzle Break Newton for a field trip. Not only was the experience itself fantastic, but the lead-up to the event was above and beyond service-wise. The day before our trip, manager Regina reached out to let me know of a massive (and gross!) plumbing issue in a business nearby that had greatly impacted their space. Regina provided me with a few options, but was steadfast that this issue could be resolved enough to still host our event less than 24 hours later. Sure enough, the next day, when we entered the space you couldn't tell it had been a disaster zone hours earlier. The space was aired out and clean, and entirely usable. While at Puzzle Break, all staff members (Regina, Kharee, Kestrel, and Patrick) were all extremely personable and very fun to be around. Some of the staff even recognized our kids from other visits, which made the kids so happy. In the rooms, they were supportive and helpful while the kids attempted to solve puzzles. After we all escaped, they played music and danced with us while we waited for our bus. We had so much fun all together, and would definitely return for future trips! Thanks Regina, Kharee, Kestrel, and Patrick!
Eva Zheng: The general manager supper nice! She and the host do everything and as parents we just seat there and relax. They are taking care everything! All kids have a lots of fun there!
Beth Harrison: Had an awesome birthday party here for my 9 year old daughter. Regina was an amazing hostess, and everything was perfect-all 12 kids had a great time. Highly recommend!
Dan Todor: Great experience!
Jennifer Aronson: PB did a great job for my daughter's 8th birthday. Nia was so helpful and fun with the kids- guiding them and giving them help so that they were successful.
Jenny Li Fowler: We had our daughter's 10th birthday party here and it was a huge success! All the kids had an amazing time. The staff was super friendly, responsive, and accommodating. I also really liked that there was a staff person in the escape room with the kids to help them along if they got stuck. I would totally recommend Puzzle Break for a birthday party or for a fun night with friends!
Nathan Padilla: If u want to waste ur money this is the right place to go. They have people sit next to you and don’t give u good hints. NEVER GO HERE
H L: Nice place, nice service! My kid had an extremely wonderful birthday party!
Delia Cheung Hom: We hosted a recent birthday party here and everything was fantastically organized. Fun for the kids and easy for the parents!!
Brian Chan: Party went off without a hitch. The puzzle room experience was well-crafted for a group of 10 to 11 year olds--the guide made sure that the kids were engaged, having fun, and not frustrated. The guide also made sure our needs were met during the pizza & cake time. Would recommend without hesitation.
Brett Young: Great party idea for my 12 year old. Clean facilities, helpful and enthusiastic staff
Maryna Shevchenko: We celebrated our daughter's 11th birthday there. The place was great, well organized and fun. The girls had such a wonderful time, and we'll definitely return!
Mackenzie Lynne: I did the Grimm Escape room with one other person, we did not "escape the room" in the 60 minutes, probably got it 80% complete.Pro's:- There are a lot of simultaneous puzzles to solve which makes it a good experience for larger groups- The room(s) were large and not claustrophobic- Many of the puzzles were challenging (some variety of logic, word puzzles, etc.)- One of the only escape rooms in the area unless you can get into Boston.Con's:- Decor of the room was significantly below par compared to other escape rooms. Our room was supposed to be an "enchanted forest" but they had to tell you this because it was not obvious by the decorations. There were just tree shapes painted on the walls and the ceiling was not even decorated with foliage (ceiling was literally like the plumbing and pipes). Plus there were a ton of bookcases and dressers in the room to hold clues, but why would there be dressers in a forest? The cottage room was similarly disappointing with most "decor" just painted walls, no 3 dimensional sets like many other escape rooms.- So much time was required just collecting a bunch of items from around the room that are randomly scattered. Puzzles were not cleverly hidden and required clues to find, there were just like a hundred items stuck with Velcro randomly to all the surfaces in the place.- A lot of just finding keys that open locked boxes. Otherwise not a lot of moving parts and not really any "WOW" moments that other escape rooms have.- One of the puzzles was not working properly and the room attendant had to actually "solve it" for us because it was broken, and it was the only puzzle that had moving parts so disappointing that we couldn't see that work.- Room attendant was actually in the room with us and he was really awkward. A lot of his clues were unhelpful. And he seemed so preoccupied with getting the room re-setup for the next group of people that he would be putting stuff away as we were still working which made it hard to determine what we had already completed.Overall:I have seen much better escape rooms, especially since the price of this place was the same as the other places. But it was convenient and fun. If you are looking for a full immersive experience this may not be the best place for you, but if you just want to solve some puzzles this is a good option.
Jeffrey Sullivan: Had a great time with kids 10-15.
Diana Hockett: Such a fun experience for the whole family! The puzzles were appropriately difficult that we were down to the wire! Staff was very kind. A great experience all around!!
