Lucy Ethiopian Cafe: what do users think?
Kat W: The food tasted good, but I ordered and pid for the 4 vegetable option and only got 3 vegetables. My husband ordered the chicken option, but his chicken was one very tiny chicken leg 🍗 . The portions were smaller than I have gotten at other Ethiopian restaurants. The serving of injera was just enough for the portion size I was given. (There is a charge for extra injera.)Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options.Parking: Metered street parking is only available during limited hours.
Dinesh: Nice place, great food, tasty. The person (didn't get her name) was very patient n helpful.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Combo for Two …More
Lucas Arndt: The service was okay, nothing too notable one way or another...The decorations were very reminiscent of being in a standard cafe, which is alright. The food was not what I expected. I ordered the meat and lamb special combos for myself and my wife. The meat seemed quite bland, especially the lamb. The side vegetables were alright. The split peas were quite good. The biggest issue was the fermented sponge bread (I am unsure of the name of this bread, but anyone familiar with Ethiopian food should know this iconic bread item). Anyway, the bread was quite cold - perhaps chilled, and rolled up on the side of the dish rather than being laid out beneath the food on the platter. No one part of the experience was particularly bad, but the combination of standard cafe seating, bland meat, cold bread, and hands-off service made the meal about as uninspiring as it can get.
Kristy Johnson: $60 for 3 people and we had food leftover.Everything was perfectly seasoned. The lamb was tasty. The collard greens and lentils and cabbage were my favorites. The side of cottage cheese was only $1!Extra Injera was only $2!The iced tea tastes like ginger and honey and maybe cinnamon.Super convenient location too, as it’s right near the reflecting pool and fenway and the Pru!I LOVE this place!!!
Lucia Geiger: The food is amazing and the price can't be beat!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
G A: The traditional tea and the veggies and lamb are some of the best eating in the city.Recommended dishes Veggie Combo, Veggie Combo for Two, Yebeg TIBS …More
Alex Mikheev: First time having Ethiopian food, got take out. the portion of beef was great
እዮብ ዮሴፍ: They need to learn to speak to people over the phone that are looking towards coming to their restaurant in at least normal and professional manner if not friendly and courteous. Because of their lack of that basic skills, I’ve decided not to visit them.
Sean: Great food! Quality and quantity are both superb.
Dan N: Beef, chicken and some of the sides were good. Maybe I just don't like Ethiopian bread, but I didn't like it at all. Peanut tea was good. Price/Value not so great.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Jennifer Jacobs: What a delicious meal! Everything was fresh and so, so good! We had both a vegetable combo and a Doro Wot combo and both were excellent. The injera was fabulous. A friendly server greeted us and the restaurant has a simple and lovely decor. Perhaps because it was very cold out the restaurant has trouble heating the space but it was SO cold. Everyone had their coats on...fully zipped up, hats and scarves on, too! Otherwise, I'd give the five stars. Try it on a day that isn't 8 degrees :-)We were so hungry I forgot to grab a photo before we dove in...maybe our devoured platter can show you how good it was!

varun k: The food was delicious and the chef warm and welcoming. Ample of parking as well in the neighborhood.
Claire Goodman: My husband and I came for a vegetarian/ vegan dinner and everything was so delicious! My favorites were the tofu tibs (I will come back for this dish!) and the tikil gomen. My husband’s favorites were the yemis wot and tegabino.Wonderful service and wonderful food!Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious vegetarian options- definitely try the tofu tibs.
Selkis Abera: Some of the best traditional Ethiopian food in the city. The restaurant is always busy but service manages to stay flawless.
Han Spinner: Fantastic food! Super tasty!!!
Rochelle Shokoti: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
Todd Jamieson: The food is delicious and healthy, with each order prepared fresh. The service is fantastic. They are friendly and attentive.Great location right in Nubian Square, accessible by T and with parking nearby. This is my go to spot when I'm on my healthy eating kick, or just looking for something warm and hardy but not too heavy. Great vegetarian options that will satisfy even a meat eater like myself.Vegetarian options: Many ethnic variations. Too many to list, but some of the tastiest and I have experienced. Let's just say it's tough to decide because they all look so good! 🙂Parking: Municipal and street
Santiago Carbajal: Such a great place, the staff attended us briefly and in a friendly. A bit on the smaller side in terms of seating. We ordered the beef sambusas and they were amazing. For our entree we had the Yebeg Lamb Tibs and they were wonderfully cooked. Overall around 25 dollars per person. Highly recommend
Noah Colbert: Love this place, they make really good kitfo and Kiki Alicha, would recommend highly!
Clayton Reed: Delicious authentic Ethiopian food in a modest setting. Friendly, attentive, and quick service. Sambusa was bomb and the combo for two filled us up
Clea Wilson: Fabulous food and fabulous service. The gored gored is seriously filet mignon quality, perfectly spiced. Family owned and run: made us feel right at home.
Kate Clark: Delicious.
Steve Perryman: Lovely little Ethiopian diner. Delicious coffee. Visited while my boy was running an event at Reggie Lewis center, will come againService: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Whitney: Just moved to Boston for work! I love Ethiopian so I decided to try this spot out since it was close. Excellent food! Great customer service. Felt like family. Will come again during m stay
Ruenom: Went here for brunch with my favorite roommate 😎 the food was delicious and the chef was very welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and homey, and the cafe is right around the corner from the bus station. Highly recommended to stop by!
Wamuyu Thoithi: Good Ethiopian coffee and beer. Staff not the friendliest or professional. Also not clean.
Nambians: Place used to be solid, though the experience for me isn't what it used to be. They are often out of the things that made me fall in love with the place.I would rather bare with the traffic in finding better Ethiopian food north of Boston. You'll have a better experience.Hopefully these folks step it up.
Abdulfatah Farah: Very bad service. The owner, she is racist towards to Somali community.
Peter Wilcox: The people are great, the food is good.

Jeff Masters: Everything here was great. It was my first experience with Ethiopian cuisine and I love it.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Extra Injera, Sambosa, Gored Gored …More
Janette Yerling: waitress seemed in a rush. not very attentive, food hit the spot!
Deepti Akarsha: Sides were good but the Injera was too tangy for anyone’s liking. If you like super tangy stuff, you can try.
nivya sharma: Ethiopian cuisine reminds me of Indian cuisine all the time. The food was tasty. Service was a bit slow, not sure if that was due to holiday season. Value for money as the quantity was overwhelming and food was very filling. I am all hearts for the food aroma filling the place. They have a variety of veg and non-veg options, catering to all the food preferences.
eric Safali: Had the combo meal on this second visit . Very tasty however I give 4 stars because the injera wasn’t as soft or fresh as I remember having on my first visit a couple of years ago
Michael Bizunhe: Great placeRecommended dishes Extra Injera, Sambosa, Zilzil Wot, Quanta Firfir or TIBS Firfir …More
ashish kumar: The worst Ethiopian food I ever had in the last 10 years. Injera was so stale and sour that I couldn't even take a bite. The veggies were tasteless and the chicken was over cooked. Also they made you wait for an hour for the food.
Akshada Shinde: Horrible service ! Not so good food ! Overcharging !We waited 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order although there were only two tables occupied including us. It took them another hour to get us one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian combo plates. The injeras were horribly sour and the waitress was very rude. She did not inform us that gratuity was already added and when went to ask her about it she just ignored us. This place is only open to legally rob people. One star for the honey wine, the only good thing we had at that place.
Priyank Jain: Vegetarian options: The veggie curry is a must try- squash perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Kid-friendliness: Spacious place. Staff was welcoming. We brought in our stroller. Changed our table. Got a high chair. Did not have non alc drinks in menu. No problem. Next door is a convenience store. Staff said ok to byob for the kids :)
Dragan Ange: Delicious food! Very fresh and tasty! One of the best dinners in my life. I highly recommend trying a mixed plate so you can try a little bit of everything. Friendly people and good good coffee
Donovan Myra: Great food and friendly service!
Mary Shannon: Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes Curbside pickup: NoMore
John Ogren: The food was amazing. Great flavors. The service was horrendous. We waited an hour to get our meal and about 20 minutes to reciee our check. Drinks took forever and we never recieved our hot water. The only reason I have 4 starts was for the food... Otherwise they would of received 1 star. Bring your patience and don't be In a rush.
Christine baxter: Food was very good. Waitress was excellent helping us order. Went out of her way also helping us get an Uber. I’d visit again!!!!Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: No Delivery: No Curbside pickup: No …More
Andrew Todtenkopf: The food is made to order so it can take a bit of time, but it is well worth the wait. Have tried Ethiopian at a few other places but Fasika is by far my favorite!Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes …More
Derbabawit Channel: We had a Vegetarian combo and Cheese with Collard green, it's not how we truly expected especially the cheese with collard come out horribly. What makes me write the review is the server wasn't helpful when we confide her the food is not right and she answered that is not her fault but it's the cook, and she hand over me to write the review instead of asking for an apology! What a service!.

Sonya Liv: Very good food! Good portions.
tl sanders: First time eating Ethiopian cuisine.Omg the food was delicious ! Mango was awesomeCute little area. The hostess was nice .The music givevya movingI was a little messy learning to eat with just bread .Very clean! Highly recommended
Bo Jiang: It was late in the evening. I showed the order's name twice during two visits in about 7 minutes, and I drove 17 minutes to deliver the package after I fetched it. When I arrived the customer pointed to the food and said this was not the food she ordered. I was given the wrong package. After contacting Dash Help I tasted the food when they said you might depose it. It was that good.
gregory fenton: Tried this restaurant for the first time. Very disappointed. Really wanted to like it. Dora Wat was not good. Two very small chicken drumsticks with some of the meat missing on them.
Josh Chapman: Excellent experience all around. Good good, atmosphere, and service. Recommend the combo options!
Alioum Youssoufa: Wow amazing. Great service, great food. Good portions for the price. Would eat here every day if I could.
Alexander Orsi: This is my favorite restaurant in JP. It has the best vibe. The food is unbelievable. I'm not even a vegetarian - but honestly the red lentil dish is one of the best dishes. It's unreal. The owner is so nice as well. Such a welcoming place. I will be going back often!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Phil Rozek: Excellent vegetarian platter (for two), with good variety. Just the right injera-to-veggies/lentils ratio, at least for me. Not expensive for Ethiopian chow. We went at an odd hour, so I can't speak to what it's like when it's busy, but the owner (who served us) was very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to the next time.
Daniel Rosenberg: After a 90 minute float at Cloud Nine down the street, it was time for something delicious. We’ve been looking for an Ethiopian restaurant for a while. This one’s good.We ordered the two meat combo for two, and it came with a stack of injera. Tasty and spicy, nice fresh veggies and lentils. Good meat stews. The ginger tea was good and strong.Great date night in the ‘flatbreads of the world’ series.
Elizabeth Teshome: Delicious food and very good customer service
Nardos Alemu: Ordered kitfo for take out and it turned out to be really good. I was looking for kitfo at other Ethiopian restaurants, but couldn't find it. I immediately went to Ethiopian Cafe when I heard that they had it at the restaurant, and it did not disappoint. You should definitely try the kitfo if you are into beef dishes.
Matthew Randall: Amazing food and people. Great service and price. Highly recommend
Shelly Wilson-Thompson: Great little spot!We really enjoyed the lentil sambosas. We also tried the spinach sambosas but the lentil ones were the clear stand-out!My wife had the yebeg tibs and I had the vegetarian combo. The misir wet was absolutely amazing!
Natalia K: Nothing special.I ordered vegetable salad. There were beans and carrots with ginger, garlic and onions. Or rather there was a lot of stewed carrots and no ginger garlic and onion could overshadow it. 🤢
S Day: Had the lamb tibs sooooo tasty! Can't wait to go back

Sheger Cafe and Ethiopian Restaurant LLC: what do users think?
Nida Kirmani: Delicious food. Cute place. Good music.
Nathan Parker: One of the better places in the area. Highly recommend.
Sean Steckbeck: Amazing place and warm atmosphere!
Robel: They serve old MICROWAVED injera, no shame in their game. I’ve never seen any habesha people eating there so that says enough on its own. If you’re looking for good Ethiopian, look elsewhere.
Sean McKenna: Nice waitress serving the food and enjoyed the food
Tim Russell: Get the Tomato Fit Fit. It is so good. You will not regret it.Vegetarian options: Veggie platter is good, but also order a side of Shiro Wat!Recommended dishes Shiro Wot, Tomato Fitfit Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes Delivery: Yes …More
Miles: Love!Recommended dishes Samosa, Combo Platter …More
T H: First time trying and was so disappointed. I ordered lamb tibs, and shiro wot. The injera was old and firm, lamb tibs had no flavor, no berbere, and shiro was watery. Even if it was free this food is not worth it. Eat literally at any other Ethiopian or eritrean restaurant and it will be 100% better.
Hannah Weigert: We order takeout from here often and the food is consistently delicious and is ready within 10 mins. We usually get the ultimate combo.
Jonathan Kebede: The worst place to order food. I order the most easiest food they can make “gored gored” man the messed it in every possible way. You shouldn’t not be allowed to have a restaurant. You should be ashamed of yourself to own Ethiopian restaurant and not able to make “gored gored”
Sa Essa: I wished I can put 0 star, cold not fresh food and they refused to heated for us we left it all we couldn’t even take a bite
Tekie Anday: Not very professional service, the food 8s also off taste. Kitfo special didn't taste normal. No butter taste in kitfo, who makes kitfo with oil? Quit the kitfo or make it right.
L Y: Went there on Monday night, and we were the only customers, I ordered two entrees, the one was recommended by the owner, it was mostly starchy bread with beef jerky, have to say that was a huge mistake. The lamb dish were ok, very little food though. Taste were ok, and I had much better Ethiopian foods before. It's one of those restaurants that you go once and won't return. My friend had the veggie combo, very little food as well. It did take two meat entrees to feed one person.
Geetika Bajpai: Big fan of Ethiopian cuisine. Tried this cafe after all the ratings. Got the vegetarian combo plate. The food was okay, for some reason seemed really low on flavor side. Bread itself wasn't sour as it was supposed to be. Wasn't the best of Ethiopian food of all the places tried. May be it was just that day of takeout ? Not sure. Lentils, also tasted pretty bland. Not the best of experience.
Ruta: Nice place.Good food. The chicken was really goodDine in: Yes Takeout: Yes …More
Amelia Nayfield: I've been here multiple times and everytime it's fantastic! The service is fast and everyone is so genuine and kind. The food is immaculate and I cannot recommend it enough. The atkilt is my favorite but just about whatever you order is fantastic. The shiro wot and samosas are divine. This restaurant deserves a full five stars everytime. The portions are very generous especially for the price. One of my favorite restaurants I have ever been to!
Rod Nayfield: Incredible Ethiopian cuisine. I have been to many Ethiopian restaurants up and down the east coast from DC, to NYC, and Boston ... Sheger is among the best - including the famed DC Adams Morgan restaurants. As you can see from the photo, we had a massive amount of food shared between three people. The Ethiopian samosa appetisers were great and the food arrived quickly. We took home leftovers and saved room for the baklava dessert which was fantastic.Highly recommended.
Julia Zhu: My favourite local Ethiopian place! They have a big meat/veggie combo I like to get. Try the honey wine!
J Smith: Will not dine here again, wait staff was rude and did not accommodate, asked for papers and after explaining why I could not provide I was told to leave and not return. Wrong side of history...
Elinor Actipis: I used to like this place, but it's very unfriendly and discriminates against customers based on medical status for no clear reason, not in accordance with town regulations.

Charlie Daigle: Amazing food. We ate the large Veggie Sampler with some Doro Wat and Doro Tibs. Even amongst all the beautifully spiced meat and lentils, my favorites by far are the collards and the Tikil Gomen. I have been trying to make Tikil Gomen as good as Blue Nile and still can't get it as buttery and flavorful as they do.Eat outside if you can!Dietary restrictions: Good vegetarian options
Jissaura: This place is a gem!! Only had Ethiopian food one other time in Washington DC, but living in Rhode Island there aren’t any restaurants here. My boyfriend had never tried it before so we took the trip to Boston to try this restaurant out. Everything was wonderful! The owner sat us down and checked in on us and was so sweet. I got the vegetarian combo and my boyfriend got a beef entree. Food was seasoned well and tasted great. We also got a bottle of their honey wine and it is fantastic! Worth the hour trip!! Rebecca K: Wow what a hidden gem of a restaurant! The warmth and hospitality is absolutely incredible, the owner was constantly on his feet doting on his patrons and making everyone feel like an honored guest. There's a lot on the menu and if you are unsure, don't miss the specials (listed below drinks on the website menu).Parking in this neighborhood can be a bit tricky but there is a free lot nearby (roughly 350 Centre street). This restaurant is not a well kept secret of the neighborhood locals, so I definitely recommend calling them to make reservations or else you might be waiting.Vegetarian options: lots of fun and interesting options for non-meat eatersWheelchair accessibility: No step to enter the businessDietary restrictions: Good vegetarian options

And after I got home when I open it the food I got one meet and no egg. I have tried all ethiopian resultant in Boston this is the worst restaurant I have ever seen. I will not be order again and not recommend to friends.
Paula Markel: One of my favorite restaurants in Boston! The food is incredible - so flavorful, nutritious, and very filing! And the service and atmosphere of the restaurant are delightful. Plus, in the summer, they prepare a really nice outdoor dining area. Definitely worth a visit!
