Pet Shop: what do users think?
David Burns: The pet shop is dirty and smelly.
Sarah Miller: Very knowledgeable. Cool animal collection. Father and son certainly care that pets and humans are well matched. Haters will hate. These guys are great.
Joey Loschiavo: Do you sell jumping spider ?
Wesley Williams: Definitely not a front for something
Brett Woofter: Awesome throwback mom and pop neighborhood pet store. Good stock good variety knowledgeable proprietor
Justin Fong: I was recently 'forced' to take care of fish. Without Pet Shop, all my fish would be totally dead. The incredibly nice owner (since the 70s!!!) was there to answer my newbie fish owner questions, and helped with general suggestions on how to scale as things become more settled.I came back a week later for more tips, and again, the owner was again gracious with his time. Though I hope I don't have to visit often to replace fish, I look forward to coming back to learn more from the wonderful owner.(Not that this place is a petting zoo but they definitely get bonus points the super friendly dogs and a cat around that make the place feel very homey.)
Ken Sorensen: This place is horrible. 25% of the fish are dead or dying and the store hasn't been cleaned in years. The cat who lives at the store is bloated and full of internal parasites from drinking directly from the scummy goldfish tanks on the bottom racks. I'd rather support a big box chain store than this place.
Peter Fallon: This is the greatest place on earth! So much love and knowledge from staff. I got a leopard gecko from there, friendly well handled. Coming from there I left feeling like I was all set to take care of him and encouraged to call back with any questions or concernsHighly recommend this place and to speak with joe for all things reptile.
Micah Pettes: My girlfriend has gotten many animals from this pet shop they are super friendly and helpful
courtney collins: I love the owners and staff! They care so much about their animals owners are always there caring for them and helping customers making sure they find the right fit/ homes. Grew up going here to visit because they’re so friendly and welcoming.
ginat quimby: The staff is turning around the business you can tell they are putting so much work into a cleaner store yes the front may have a little dust, it's a big store but the animals are well taken of. They are already able to bond with new owners, i never bought a sick or neglected pet from this pop and son owed store. It's one of the last pet stores of its kind! It's been on the Ave my whole life wouldn't go anywhere else.
Edward Leyva: WHAT A BAD SERVICE, Saturday June 18, 2022, approximately 2:30 pm, I went looking for a pet, after more than 30 minutes of waiting, the man who attended came out, he was cleaning the cages in the back where the pets are located. birds, he came out with a bad attitude, he was a man of about 35 years, with a beard, glasses and bald. I asked him about some pets and he told me that they did NOT have pets for sale??? Like me, there were other customers, some are buying products and food for their pets and he told them something that also made them uncomfortable? They put the products back in their place and left!! Every day I am surprised to see more people with that bad energy and attitude to serve customers, I imagine it was not the owner, for this reason it leaves a disappointment that I will not return to this store.
Brett Vanderlinden: Dirty inside. Hours on the door don't match the hours online.
M D: This is one of the most disgusting and overpriced stores I have ever seen in my life.A bag of food costs twice more than what it usually costs at this store. The cages and tanks for the animals are filthy and overcrowded.I came here to support local business and instead left completely disgusted.Take your money elsewhere.
Olga Kozynska: This shop is more for exotic pets than for ordinary cats or dogs. The choice of goods isn't very big. Inside it's not good-looking and clean.
alejandro vallejo: Absolutely vile treatment of animals
Kevin Smith: Best pet store around.
Esther Paik: I really only like this store because the owner has a cute cat. The store itself is really unsanitary and unclean, all the fish tanks look like they could use a good clean and the store overall is just very crusty. There's a back room with exotic animals, but it's always closed. I once went to this store while the back room was open because the owner was showing the pets there to a customer. I asked if I could go in too and he said no, I had to choose a specific animal from the list and let him know if I wanted to see it. Which was weird considering he basically was showing all of the available animals to that customer. He's also very strict about no photography in the room. The owner himself seems nice, but every time I've visited the store there's some sort of incident. Recently when I went, I noticed the owner's dog was casually drinking the dirty water on top of a bucket near the fish tanks; given the fish net on top of it, I assume it was water from the tanks themselves. I think if the owner is going to bring his pets, he needs to at least improve the supervision of them as he seems to be the only employee at the store. Overall, it's a fairly dirty environment that's a bit suspicious with the whole closed-off back room and the owner's rules.
Crawford Dread: The best kind of pet shop that's rarely seen anymore--owned by a family of animal lovers, you can be sure that this establishment puts the health of their livestock before easy profits. Friendly & informative staff who are a pleasure to chat with every time i go in to stare longingly at the fish.
Caitlin Nirenberg: Bought crickets here for my gecko and they died the next day… I had them in a habitat with food. Would not recc
Mary B: This place abuses animals, full stop. Reported to MSPCA law enforcement, and if you're reading this, PLEASE do the same. Animals here are all near death and held in disgusting conditions. They have a whole room in the back full of exotic birds that seems incredibly suspicious-- you aren't allowed to go back there and all photos and videos are banned. I believe this location to be a front for exotic bird smuggling. The dogs in this shop need to be confiscated by the MSPCA-- their fur is one massive mat and they barely moved when we entered the shop from heat exhaustion. The tanks are filthy and the birds are kept in squalor overloaded in tiny cages. Please please report this place, and take photos and video evidence if you can.

The Fish & Bone: what do users think?
Nicole Vachon: Dogs! Dog stuff! Dog canolli! Great store who offers genuine advice when looking for something.
Laurentiu Anghel: Ok
Craig P.: Great place for dog treats
Michelle Dao: Went here before I got my puppy and I continue to go even though it’s not convenient for the experience. The staff was helpful and kind. They also are responsive and acknowledge flaws when they happen (such as expirations dates).Ordering online for pickup and never picking it up, they just cancel it and I appreciate that. Not that others don’t do that but they also do a call and its feels personal which I appreciate.I always stop in to see their new selection of toys because my dog destroys everything and I love supporting the local business.
Sean Sweeney: Wonderful Store with Awesome People working there. They remember me and my pet each time I go there. They help me find what I need. Thanks!!!
Brittany Wallace: We love the Fish & Bone! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We stop here every time we're on Newbury.
Thom Delahunt: First I'd like to say how friendly, and accommodating the staff is. They're very knowledge about what is sold there and aren't on their cell phones while customers are shopping (Petco). In addition it's only one of two pet stores in Boston that sells Orijen pet food. The other shop is actually smaller than this one so the people complaining about it being too small are being disingenuous. What they sell is high quality pet food and carry just as much cat food as they do dog. I refer people there all the time with no one coming back and telling me the had a negative experience. There's always going to be people who are not happy and complaining, it's part of being a business.
Philipp Fella: Great little shop with attention to detail and all about the pooch.Cookie loves her new coat / harness combination.Lovely staff and great service. Very helpful but also let you browse and take your time.I’ll come back for sure.
Lauren Thomas: We love Fish + Bone! We order all of our high-protein canned food for our many cats. Great customer service and they understand feline nutrition.
Margaret Young: Love this neighborhood pet store. Staff are always helpful and friendly and my dog Kooklee loves the treats
Shari Franzetta: Great selection, fair pricingThe staff is absolutely delightful!
Julia Barth: Always friendly and knowledgeable. My pup is very energetic and they were so sweet to him in the store
Zhang Yixin: Friendly staff, fresh products and very good rewards program!
Jordan Meyers: Very nice pet store with friendly staff and good selection!
Sarah Vitale: Excellent shop for all things pet related. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me find great products. Highly recommend!
rosie bechara: Best Customer Service I have experienced in years !!!!! These people care about your order and communicate. And carry quality goods . Love The Fish and Bone
Joshua Aguilar: Go!
Jordi Guerrero: I ordered online a couple of toys for my cats, and after a couple of hiccups with the order, store manager Ian went out of his way to make sure my cats would get what I wanted for them. Top customer service. Thanks Ian!
Emma Peng: Fair price! Good place to go for cat supplies, there’s Orijen, raw air dried food, chicken heart treats for my kitties
Jana Scholten: Simply the best pet store! They have quality cat/dog food. Great customer service and knowledgeable staff. We recently took our cat's on a long car ride and the CBD drops really helped them!!
Chester Leonard: Enjoyable

Big Fish Little Fish: what do users think?
Andrew Bennett: The owner was really helpful. Thanks for the advice!
Nicholas Coops: Great experience
Joey Loschiavo: Do you sell jumping spiders
Breyner Rivas: very good it helps you if you don't know and a little dusty but very friendly and they help a lot
Jonathen Petrie: A little hole in the wall run by a longtime veteran of the pet trade. A local business worth supporting.
Allyssa Meunier: Came back again and we got a beautiful ball python to add to our growing family. The owner as always is so kind. We always leave there learning a lot about the different kinds of animals he keeps. This is the best pet store around. Here’s a picture of the day we fell in love with “Ghost”.We also have birds (conures and parakeet/budgies) that we have gotten from him and I had meant to leave a review before that he also offers boarding services! He’s watched our birds while we have been away on vacation twice before and they were well taken care of and given their favorite fruits and vegetables while we were away.
Austen: I always go here for any needs for my aquarium. The owner is very knowledgeable about fish, and has provided some great fish and plant recommendations for my tank. Can’t recommend this shop highly enough!
Gamze Yilmaz: I got another betta fish and all the materials for it from this cute store for my son’s new school, and the owner did not disappoint again! This was my second purchase from this store. The owner is very well informed, super helpful and does not really try to hard sell anything. He also showed the snakes and turtles to my son without us even requesting, and my son had an amazing experience. I also appreciate the reasonable prices at this store compared to other big stores or even Amazon. Highly recommend it!
Holly Vrotsos: I have been visiting this store for years and it is one of the few local old school pet shops left in the Greater Boston area so it’s great to support. The owner is so kind, very helpful and the care he bestows upon his animals is very evident. In the past he has given me food to feed his reptiles, to feed his parrot. Real animal lover; such a great place.
Star Blidgen: One of the oldest pet shops around and still one of the best funny educational easygoing guy a gentle giant runs the shop great with kids my daughter and I walked in there and was greeted pleasantly showed us around talked about different animals walked along with us and made us laugh will always come here first when looking for anything in Massachusetts regarding fish bird life prices are reasonable I remember coming here as a little girl and it almost looks the same even though it's change owners it feel good to have the same type of Love passed on to my child childhood great guy
Ashley Pitts: I have been visiting this store for a few years have a 35 gallon and a 10 gallon aquariums. The owner is a local from the area and is knowledgeable about fresh water fish, reptiles, rodents and birds. He is helpful with questions over the phone and in person.
Kelly Wilson: I tried to purchase a betta fish here (one that looked like it could use some TLC). I innocently and briefly mentioned to the man behind the counter that it might need some TLC (hoping he would maybe give me advice) and the man got defensive and aggressive--repeating over and over again "I don't sell sick fish" and "Don't buy it then!" I remained silent, apologized, and he only got more aggressive. When I said I'd be okay with purchasing it anyways, he asked me what size tank I'd be using. I had a 10 gallon tank cycled and ready at home with plants. He immediately told me that the fish would be 'scared' of a tank that size and that bettas prefer small 1 gallon bowls. This is just bad advice. Do your research before shopping here. Bettas should be kept in 5 gallons and up. Contrary to what he told me while I was there, wild bettas don't 'live in puddles' as a choice (though they can survive in them). I came into the store hoping to support a local business and seek advice of the owner. He was extremely rude and I walked out in tears.Don't shop here!
Brian Steady: Great location! Service is always awesome! Highly recommend this store!
Allison Connolly: Love this spot! The owner is super knowledgeable about fish and they have a good selection and healthy animals. The parrot can be a little scary but it’s all part of the charm!
Rick Ribeiro: Great selection and very knowledgable
Marcela Silveira: Guy keeps fish and other animals in good conditions. It's a small store so it's smells a little. Animals are healthy though. You will learn way more about your pet fish there than any PetSma4t or Petco store. Highly recommend.
Rachel Gladstone: Such a nice guy with great fish selection and knowledge
All Planets: @all_planets
Max Corona: Very cool
Stephanie Shields: Great place, knowledgeable owner.
Wylie Bednar: This guy is so nice and knows everything about fish. He's very helpful when we've had issues with our aquarium, and he always takes time to talk about choosing the right fish when we go in to find new fish for our tank

It's A Pet's World: what do users think?
Wayne Dodds: A great alternative to the national chain stores. I always try to support local business owners!!!
PoLing Chen: It's just very confusing, and the birds here are very healthy but also really expensive. The pricing just does not make any senses at all, 500 for a cockatiel then its suddenly 567... I just don't understand.
Teresa Leon: I love to go there every time I missing something for my bunny “” Bruno “very friendly, very polite
Jennifer Marie Rush - Lopez: Got my very healthy baby caique she has been with us a while. Very healthy beautiful bird.
Joey Loschiavo: Do you guys have jumping spider?
Lilly Santos: My first @ this pet word I love it .
Mary Franks: Kyle (manager) was incredibly helpful and friendly. It’s an amazing store with a wide collection of pet supplies. We’ll definitely be back!
Nilo Ashraf: Great quality products at a fair price. Have bought a bearded dragon. Regularly buy food for my lizard, turtles, cockatiel and dogs there. Very friendly staff!
night flowers: very good 10/10, amazing staff which are very helpful, has everything i need for my pets 😍 i reading the reviews and ignore Matt Sullivans comment because they clearly dont know what they are talking about, why would you want to buy a cat with "fleas" after saying the cats had fleas?? (they dont LOL) and they stepped out of line and made the breeder extremely uncomfortable for a reason, none of it was the breeders fault.
Matt Sullivan: So me and the girlfriend went in to look at the cats that were for sale and we brought to the breeder and groomers attention that the cats had fleas and the lady was extremely rude and ignorant when we brought the fleas up to her and then we went back another day and she turned around and would not sell us any cats because she did not feel comfortable I recommend nobody go there the service was horrible and the lady is very unruly
Jio_ 2727: The customer service is great
Lisa Gillis: I love that store The people have very friendly and knowledgeable ✌️
charbel Laham: Great staff, always willing to help!
Ellie CAMPBELL: Love ruby the red parrot! .. but I did not like how they had the little birds in the cages and underneath their feet was just like metal caging it looked very uncomfortable on their feet I felt very bad for the for the birds in those cages they should have at least put newspaper down for their feet that I see it seemed very cool to me I did not like that one but
Jennifer H: Since getting my bird from Pet’s World, my heart has been so full. Thank you so much Ross for your patience, fun personality, and helpfulness throughout the process to help me find the right bird. I couldn’t have had a better experience and really enjoyed our time and visits at the store. Pets world also has everything you need at very reasonable prices which is a plus! The staff here are great people, super friendly, and knowledgeable. Ross is AMAZING and highly recommend going to him or Michelle who is also great. I ended up getting a white bellied caique named Mango. The parrot is so gentle, social, and lovable. I can’t thank Pets World enough for bringing this bird to my life.
Marlo S: Excellent pet store. The owners are very nice and helpful and knowledgeable. They sell pet supplies, fish, birds, bunnies, gerbils mice and snakes and dragons and much more. I highly recommend this pet store. They have lots of Iguanas.
Cassandra Dupuis: Just grabbed a bearded dragon for my 7 year old. They were so helpful, super nice and the environment was pleasant. You can tell they know their stuff, and that the animals are well taken care. Will be back soon!
Sharon Yannizzi: Bought fish last year and they all died within a week -Tried it again, bought 6guppies this week - they died within 2 days - all of theexisting fish have now died asAquarium maintenance is meticoyswell -
Fowle Heidi: Special ordered food, hand picked items & gave me a tour. Amazing local dog cookies!
Kelsey-Jean Lebovitz: Cute little small business. Well stalked. Easy to shop. Great deals! An all around delightful experience. Cookies for a Great boy! 10/10 will do again
Brandon Mulkern: Good selection of items reasonably priced.

Stinky's Kittens & Doggies Too: what do users think?
Ciara McMahon: I brought my very skittish dog in today for a long-overdue nail clipping. She was super-nervous and cowering and trying to crab walk away. The staff were extremely calm and confident with her, lifted her onto the table and clipped her nails in less than 5 mins. My dog didn't even flinch. I am so happy and will definitely be going back.
Sus Arza: The receptionist was polite but the cat groomer was rude and with an attitude when I was asking for more information about the services. Would not trust him my pet or any other pets.
Rawan A: I don't comment
Magenta Jasinski: Got my cat’s claws trimmed here and he is famously dramatic about it when I try to do it. Both of the owners were very quick, friendly, and gentle with him. It was $20 and less than 5 mins total. I will be booking appointments with them in the future and coming back to buy pet supplies!
Dhdjsks Sjdhfdksk: UPDATE YOUR HOURS PLEASE THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO CUSTOMERS AND MAKES ME NOT WANT TO GIVE YOU MY BUSINESS. STOP MAKING IT HARD
Katie Bond: Great service - I have used Stinky's over the years for pet sitting and nail trims for my cat Stevie. The team really knows what they are doing, and are always reliable and professional. I feel grateful to have such a wonderful spot in my neighborhood.
Cara Goodman: Have brought my pup here three times now to have her nails clipped, the service is always quick and easy! They also provide a nice selection of high-end dog treats
Gwen Edgar: Not the best selection as it is a small store, but the owner is really nice and helpful and the products in stock are good quality.
Maria Carolina: I’ve had the worst experience with this place. The person who answers the phone is awfully rude. Made me want to cry. I tried to speak to whoever the manager/owner is and he found a way not to let me do it. I’d never trust that place with my kittens, someone who can treat clients like that can treat your pets the same way. Think about it.
Adam Peters: Unbelievably rude. My wife and three year old left in tears.
A. Pierce: Excellent job with my dog's nails.I have been looking for a new local business to get my chihuahua's nails trimmed. Finding a new place was a challenge during a pandemic, but the owner responded promptly to my email inquiry on the current protocols in her store and best way to schedule an appointment.Once there, it took about 5 minutes, in and out, which I appreciated as my dog has some anxiety issues. His nails look awesome and I am very happy. Clearly I'm not a big spender on grooming and I always am thankful for a business that welcomes my dog and does a great job.
Jen Holt: Love this spot. “Ms. Stinky” is consistently cooperative and helpful when I place orders with her. Can’t recommend higher for local business. 🙌🏽
Maggie Leoffler: Great selection of healthy organic pet foods. Love the cute gifts they have there too. My cat is very happy to have them in the neighborhood!
Jordan Smith: Great food and toy selection!!!
Christine Masiello: Been taking my dog here for seven years. Joanne is great. She gives individual attention and her cuts the way you ask.
Stuart Mitchell: Refused to groom my Persian because he was slightly matted and they were afraid they would knick his skin... explained how much of a "bleeder" they can be! Sounds like they have had some bad experiences, and I'm actually glad that they refused service.
Michael Esmail: Great family owned store, very friendly!
Tatiana Grullon: The female owner (I have forgotten her name) was completely rude and unprofessional. I was shocked at her rude remarks and threats she gave us. She was rude and blamed us for the dogs hair. We had called before had and explained everything she needed to know and also owner known tips on what to do for the dog. She stated she understood and has worked with many different dogs. Maybe 30mins later she calls screaming at us we had to go down there and demand for her give us our dog back she was rude and called us all sorts of names as we walked out. Plus The dog’s trim was horrible I could’ve done a better job and I’m just a high school student! Overall Was shocked and saddened by her actions. I strongly recommend not going here.
Phil Webb: I don't know what these negative reviews are all about. I've been taking my dogs to Joanne for years and she has been nothing but courteous and extremely professional. Unlike other groomers she will endeavor to get them in and out as quickly as possible, instead of bulk grooming with a dozen dogs and keeping your dog all day.As to the person who trusted a groomer to handle blood tests and insulin shots, are you insane? It would never even cross my mind to let anyone but a trained veterinarian do something like that. I don't care what the groomer says.I trust Joanne and highly recommend her services.
pamela russo: On a search for a particular brand of cat food I found this place. I was extremely impressed with the array of brands offered that I have read about but have been unable to find at other pet stores. In speaking with the owner it was clear she has spent time and energy on researching brands she has picked to occupy her shelves.
Tamar Mastering: She's always been very helpful to me whether I am trying to figure out a new toy for my cat or new healthy food for my finnicky eater. The store has a great variety of healthy foods so I always find something .There are so many dangerous foods out there, especially from China, that I get my treats there to make sure that it's safe. The tiny mouse with a feather tail was most successful and the freeze dried fish is like crack for the kitty. Give them a chance, it's hard to have a local business these days. Support your local business.
