Fiona Pan: Was trying to decide on a place to get fish and chips, and didn’t really feel like going to a sit down restaurant. The price here was great comparatively, $14 for quite a bit of fries and 2 lightly breaded pieces of fish (sit down places were charging $20+). It’s also surrounded by other shops and local food markets.The food came out quick, and was very good! Fries were crispy and hot, fish was very fresh. Flavor was on the lighter side, which is preferred for me. Overall, great value and good if you’re just looking for a quick bite!

Without me even remembering it or contacting them, a super sweet employee named Alison reached out to me and offered to refund the order. They didn’t have to do that. But it was greatly appreciated and they deserve 5 stars for being an honest business, even when they have nothing to gain and $32 of my dollars to lose. I had a quesadilla, which was a bbq sauce/cheddar/smoked fish quesadilla. The bbq sauce was a little too sweet and the flavors didn’t seem to mesh together.I think they should have used a queso fresco given the fish they were using and a tangier barbeque sauce or something with an acidic element (like capers, salsa, pickled jalapeños, or a spritz of citrus)Their flavors were salty and a little tired. Perhaps I should have ordered the bagels which seemed more traditional with flavoring.

Jon Rish: I really want to give Red's five stars. The quality is excellent and I want to support local New England families. However, for the second straight order an item has been missing. Each time the explanation was that the item was out of stock. No communication at all. Each time I had to let them know it wasn't included. This feels like a process issue. Call me, email me, offer me a replacement. At least do something. Instead my order shows up without enough sushi for the sushi dinner my family was expecting. Not a great experience.

Vladimir Egiyan: The best fish store in the city, especially if you’re looking for sashimi grade seafood. It’s quite expensive, but worth it. They usually have brilliant salmon from Canada and New Zealand, Bronzino from Greece, local scallops, octopus, sometimes even fatty tuna! Almost 100% Japanese quality of fish! Service might have been better though.
Karl Swanson: Best place in Boston for sushi grade fish, have been coming here for several years now for their tuna, salmon and tobiko!
Celeste De Palma: We discovered this neighborhood gem during 2020, and it kept us so happily fed during the shutdown. They always have fantastic quality and variety. It's not cheap, but you will gladly pay for quality seafood. Oh! Did I mention they have sushi grade fish cuts too? Fun date night idea, anyone? You can find some interesting Asian and Italian ingredients to make special dishes, and staff are nice about sharing their favorite way to cook their fish.

Thats when I found New Deal. Their big eye or yellow fin tuna is so fresh and the poke cubes so soft even granny with no teeth can eat it. I go here atleast once every week now if not a couple of times. These people know their fish

Attorney Byron Knight: . It was part of the routine of getting fresh food for the week. That was about 40 years ago. Now, I bring my sons for the best and freshest fish out of the water. They go to the dock 2x's a day to get the variety and fresh fish that they are known for. Carl and the crew have maintained the best customer service throughout the years. They know their fish, where it came from, and how to cook it. Don't be afraid to experiment there is a recipie waiting for you! New Deal always has great fish, and their fresh sardines are delicious. FYI, you will often hear Carl taking bulk orders for local restaurants....it's that good- that is why you gotta go early, especially on the weekends or holiday seasons. Yup, if you can't get it straight from the ocean, get it from New Deal Fish Market.

The dry scallops are a special diamond among diamonds, as good and often better than what you'll find at local sushi joints. This is a no brainer, buy your seafood here, really.

Anwaar Masoud: Aside from the lobster roll, I wouldn’t go back for anything else. Frankly way better places in Boston this is a tourist trap. Overpriced $28 bucks for a regular tiny roll nothing special. The crab cake too much filler and oily no flavor, the lobster bisque with no lobster - probably use the lobster boiling water and adding cream to it.

Liz Lobo: Not kidding, this place had better lobster rolls than anywhere in Maine. The seafood was so fresh and melted in your mouth. The hot buttered lobster roll was my favorite but my hubby loved the cold Mayo lobster roll. The lobster bisque was good but the shrimp and corn chowder was superb! It’s super small inside, maybe fits 12 people, but if it’s nice the outdoor dining would be an option.

Jerry Kowalsky: Living literally in the middle of the Midwest, a friend gifted my wife and me with a live lobster/clam/chowder gift package. It arrived on my cottage doorstep on-time and ready-to-cook. From the moment I opened it and smelled the seaside in the fresh seaweed I knew we were going to be transported to a New England feast that evening. In spite of it being an unusually hot (82 degree) April day, everything arrived fresh and cold. The cooking instructions were perfect. The end product was absolutely delicious. One important point to consider is having a strong heat source to keep a large pot of water on the boil. That is a huge help in producing a great end result. Will definitely repeat this again.

D D: Rating is based solely on my order of the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the lobster salad roll. Do NOT get a bread bowl. It was cold, stale, and they removed only a small part from inside, so essentially I got an equivalent of just a small cup. It's a ripoff. Chowder itself was also not very hot, and I definitely had better at a local restaurant in Boston, and even in some places in NYC. The salad was just OK as well, but a potato bun was again not the freshest. Maybe I got a bad batch or something but it's not worth spending $38 on these two items.
