Boston Freedom Trail Walking Tour: what do users think?
Dana Winer: Fantastic tour! My 12 year old was engaged. The tour guide struck a nice balance between being old-fashioned and not sentimentalizing or glossing over the darker parts of history.
Rebecca Oblak: My family and I enjoyed the Freedom Trail Tour. The meeting point is at the information center in the Park. You can purchase tickets there to show your printed copy. We stopped frequently to talk about the early settlement and buildings. It lasted just over an hour and did not end where we began. We also didn’t visit every spot on the freedom trail either.
Danielle Geiger: Great way to see the city history
Denis Murphy: It was an excellent tour and the guide Jeremiah Poope was superb, full of anecdotes and information. His sense of humour made it an outstanding experience.
Kristi Kovatch: Our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable, funny and entertaining. Cold day, and the wind sliced thru us Texans…but our guide made the trip worth it!
Warren S: PHENOMENAL!!! If you want a great guided tour of Boston, its history, and the beginnings of the Revolutionary War, then this is your thing!!We started in Boston Common. Four of us, and our total group was about 20-25 people. Our tour guide was in period dress, tricorner hat and all. The tour is about 1 1/2 hours and about 1 1/2 miles. It is by no means a tough walk, and there is a lot of stopping so that your guide can explain the more important sites. As weird as it may sound, the highlight of the tour to me was the Granary Cemetery. You'll be able to see the graves of Sam Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere, James Otis (who?? he's really an important character in American history), and bunches of others, including Ben Franklin's parents. Our guide told us the *true* stories about what happened during that time period and dispelled a lot of the myths that we all have come to believe happened (Paul Revere's ride, etc.).If you can walk for an hour and a half, DO THIS!!! It absolutely does not get any better, and cannot be better!!

Boston By Foot: what do users think?
Charlotte Berry: Due to do the little foot tour with these guys, booked on the recommendation of lonely planet. They didn't turn up.We waited from 9.50 till 10.20 in the freezing cold with our small child. Rang twice, left a voicemail and emailed. There was another family also waiting.I've since had no response from the company, I'm expecting a refund but who knows. We only have limited time in Boston and wasted a mornining on this. Please avoid any use one of the other tour companies.
Andrea Porras: This is a HIGH QUALITY TOUR! Our guide Tod was engaging, knowledgeable about all things Boston (not just history!) and had excellent comedic timing. He was patient as we wrangled to kids under two throughout the tour. Would definitely recommend you take a tour if you're visiting for the day or are a long-time resident. You're sure to learn something either way!
Mikayla Hopkins: Great tour of the Dark Side of Boston with Tom C. Very informative, and kept our group engaged the whole time!
Kira Kroll: We did the freedom trail tour with Catherine. The tour was very interesting, we were a small group. I’d recommend it
Sarah Weidner: We did the Little foot tour for Boston with Beth G and she was amazing. The hour tour is perfect for kids and Beth was so engaging and knowledgeable. We loved it and highly recommend.
Kyle Feeney: We did a tour with MB today and it was fantastic! The group limit on our tour provided a great experience and MB was knowledgeable and very engaging.
Liz Hanrahan: My son studied Johnny Tremain for school and wanted to learn more about the novel's setting. Anne, our tour guide, was amazing! She not only kept our fourth grader engaged, answering all of his questions, but she knew the novel well and was a walking encyclopedia on the Revolution, its players and Boston at that time. She also taught us quite a bit about the changing topography of the city. Sincere thanks Anne. We really hope to catch one of your other tours.
Sandhya Nair: Great experience. We initially had booked Freedom Trail. However, one of our flights got delayed and could not make it on time. They were very responsive on email and we coordinated within 3-4 emails back and fro to get a new tour booked within the small window that was available for us considering we were just visiting Boston and had other plans in Maine and New Hampshire. We took the dark side tour and it was really cool.
Just Jeff: I didn't take the tour, I did however meet Tom at Green Dragon and I can say this guy is one cool cat. I talked with him about music, history, tall ships, sea shanties, his companies tour packages and current happenings. This man has lived and I can see how he works for The Boston tour company. When I take a tour it will be with BbF.
Robin Yeldell: Very enjoyable and informative Heart of the Freedom Trail tour with Brook. Good pace, good range of knowledge on history and architecture. Go Brook!
Lake Distant: I attended five tours and learnt so much from them. Those volunteers are incredible. I was so touched by their dedication. One of the tours lasted 3.5 hours, almost doubled the scheduled time. I tried to tip the first guide and she rejected it. I love them. I have attended similar tours in Europe and Boston ones are the best. Thank those volunteer guides.
Caty Kidd: I did night tour in where Tom talked about the dark side of Boston History. It was an incredible way to start my trip. He was very knowledgeable and interactive. I would encourage anyone who may be visiting Boston for the first time to check out Boston by Foot. It is the best deal around for a historical tour.
Brennen Kapaun: We did the dark side of Boston tour, super interesting and really cool stories no other tour will cover! Can’t say enough about our guide, they are all volunteers so they are truly knowledgeable and love meeting and giving tours to people. We had Bob as our guide and he was very kind and personable and made the tour one of our trip highlights!!! Keep up the good work and thanks for volunteering your time!
Tim Haws: Super frustrated with this tour company. We booked a tour (Had to pay up front). We show up before the posted time to depart only to find the group was already gone. We contacted Boston by Foot but no one has returned our messages. There are many other tour groups to choose from. I would recommend using those companies.
Brandy Sharack: Took a wonderful Heart of the freedom trail tour with Tom M last weekend. It was just the right amount of walking and well paced. Tom was very knowledgeable and it was clear he loves Boston. He took time to engage both of my children in different age appropriate ways, while still keeping it intersting for the adults. Also had a great experience when setting up the tour with Courtney in the office. Will recommend BBF to anyone headed into Boston with interest in the history.
Jason Gray: We are so glad we hired Boston By Foot. Bob P. Was our guide and was fantastic. We did a private tour and loved it. He is so great with kids and/or adults. His knowledge of the history of Boston was huge. We stopped and took our time telling us and the kids stories at all the stops. We took breaks when needed and he was so patient. He asked several times how it was going and got our input on how much info we wanted etc..Bob knows Boston, history and is an all around great guy. We will be calling them again for more tours. Can’t say enough about how good a time we had today walking around Boston. Thanks Bob
Susan Rodriguez: We took the Noable Women if Beacon Hill walking tour today with Willa as our guide. It exceeded our expectations. The content was excellent, interesting, and well presented. The cost was extremely reasonable. Very positive experience that enhanced our visit without a doubt.
Holly Gant: We enjoyed two tours and our guides (Jeffrey D. and Regina C.) were very professional, knowledgeable and fun. The evening Dark Side of Boston tour with Jeffrey was fun and the Beacon Hill architecture tour with Regina was interesting and was in the evening when the gas lights were glowing brightly. We definitely thought both were worth the cost and time and we will do more if we're ever in Boston again.
Dee Fras: Took a guided tour of the Freedom Trail... very boring!!! Don't waste your time!!!!
Hair By Issy: I loved the tour. There was only me and another girl on our tour but our guide was informative and gave us information most company's would skip. Although it may not be your stereotypical kind of tour it was fun, interesting and the guide was extremely friendly! Would highly recommend
Janna Jeffrey: I took Boston By Foot's "Heart of the Freedom Trail" tour on Sunday August 12 and had a wonderful time! My guide was Tom M, and even though it was raining, he was in great spirits. Because of the weather there were only a couple of us signed up, but that didn't seem to bother Tom - he was happy to show us around and teach us a lot about Boston's history. He answered all of our questions and was incredibly kind. It was a great tour!
