Thrive Boston Counseling and Psychotherapy: what do users think?
Tena Zara: Do NOT use this place for any type of medicine management. They have no backup for providers. It is malpractice.
Katherine Sargent: Nice
Larissa Lutz: I've been working with Jennifer for over a year and cannot say enough great things about her and my experience with Thriveworks. Our work together has been really impactful; Jennifer's attention to detail, and ability to promote an environment where I can be my authentic self, has allowed me to reshape and rethink how I go through my day-to-day as well as tackling challenging experiences. Thank you Jennifer for all that you do, I am so lucky to have this opportunity to work with you!
Jaime Cobb: I am very satisfied with the professionalism shown with the clinical staff
Mary Nee-Loftus: From the initial phonecall inquiring about an appointment, I felt listened to. My therapist has been a great listener and asks reasonable questions and is thoughtful in conversation. The time goes remarkable fast- I didnlt realize I had so much to talk about. I heard about Thriveworks through a related health insurance link. I will continue to benefit from Thriveworks and highly recommend those interested in mental wellness.
M Roderick: It’s great to be able to share my feelings to gain some access to the areas of my life that I want to heal
Kaleigh Haroldsen: Anyone would be lucky to be matched with Renee Pagen. To find someone like Renee who cares so about about their patients well-being a personal growth is rare.
Mike Harrison: The intake meeting went well from the start. My counselor Layla was warm, receptive and experienced with stress related challenges. I felt comfortable and ready to share. I appreciated the ability to meet in person for that first appointment, as I wanted to connect with a human to ensure a good relationship was formed. Have since switched to Zoom meetings. Great counselor and a great company with which to work.
Caryn Stewart: I worked with Jessica Brantl for many years at a major Boston hospital in oncology. Jessica brings empathy, wisdom, and a wholistic person-centered approach to her encounters with clients. I would recommend her as a therapist to anybody seeking to be heard and gently guided to increased wellness.
Marie Chery: I didn’t have to wait to see Jess. She creates time for her clients whether online or in person. She helps me to understand and gives me tools to nagivate through my situation. She has a listening hear. I have been working with Jess for over 3 years now, she’s exceptional!
Kimberly Marrero: Strong communicator, good listener, non-judgmental properly describes Jessica B. I hope she continues her journey in helping people as she has helped me.
Jess Q: Jess Brantl is one of the most special social workers I know. We have worked together for seven years in an extremely busy hospital setting. Her passion and patience is so clearly seen in her daily work. She is so caring, empathetic, and truly a patient advocate. Jess has a heart of gold and she has so much knowledge and resources to share with her patients. Jess always goes out of her way to help her patients. She is one of the best listeners I know and she always has great advice to offer. If you are planning on seeing a social worker, you should ask for Jess, she is outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about her. She is a wonderful person and this practice is so lucky to have her!
Paul Mac Eachern: Hello Thriveworks, I would like to say something about Jessica. I have known Jessica for the last few years and have been lucky enough to know her as very kind bright, sweet and an honestly down to earth human being. And I'll hallelujah to that. Paul Mac Eachern.
Rozi A: From my own experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend Jessica Brantl. She is warm, compassionate, and caring, was instrumental in my navigating a difficult period in my life. Her strengths based approach really worked for me.
Ally Baker: I was seeing Jessica for about a year and would recommend her to anyone experiencing challenging life shifts, especially young adults! She is very compassionate and helpful in her approach and empowered me to come to my own conclusions.
Cynthia Bliss: Jessica Brantl is compassionate, warm and provides a safe environment for her clients.
Alice Morrison: I have heard great things about Boston and l recommend to anyone looking for awesome care.
dena krukonis: I have had the pleasure of working with Jessica Brantl for several years. She is extremely conscientious and detail oriented. She is hard working and is compassionate and truly cares for her patients. I highly recommend Jessica for a position in your company.
Jacqueline Arroyo: Jessica B is very kind and empathetic communicator willing to both listen and offer feedback; she has given me key insights and resources drawing from her professional and personal experience to help me work through my current situation.I highly recommend her for your healthy journey.
Philippe Gallier: Jess is the best listener! She really cares about your feelings. She is super empatheticGo see her!!!
Lisa Clarey: Today after 5 weeks of pleading and cajoling I managed to get my 19 year old autistic child to call Thrive in order to give them the verbal permission they required to enable me to make him an appointment. He was told by Thrive that this had been noted in his record. Upon calling tonight I was told that he would need to verbally authorize again. The kid is disabled, very shy, and had a meltdown. To h&&& with you, Thrive. Way to kick a person when they are down. You were recommended to me by BCBS, and you can depend on me to give them feedback on this terrible experience.

TCA Counseling Group: what do users think?
Jillian Caron: Athena is an amazing therapist and is a very easy person to talk too! I look forward to our visits everytime
Danie Dardompre: I loved my therapist Pamela Boone. However TCA it’s self is not the greatest company. They are very unreliable. The receptionist Jerlin will text you but not answer the phone at all. You can be fully covered by your insurance and they will insist you have a card on file so that they can charge you late fees or cancelation fees… Even when you try to reschedule they do not answer the phone promptly. I liked my therapist but I don’t like the management or administration that runs TCA they can do a whole lot better . It seems as if they are more concerned about the business aspect of it all. They do not care about you as the person in need of the help. Other than then that my therapist was great.. I was 100% covered by insurance no co pays at all. . The payments they are more concerned bout are cancelation fees etc. AND AGAIN YOU WILL TRY TO AVOID THESE FEES AND THEY WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE PROMPTLY.And again no one was verbally abused. The lady had an attitude so I hung up in her face if that verbal abuse so be it. Like I said administration is not worth it.
Melanie Jordan: The systems here are extremely outdated and the front desk people highly unhelpful. The front desk asked for the same information from me several times and then canceled appointments without a call. One appointment was canceled as I was an hour late to filling out paperwork due to a death in the family which TCA did not have any empathy or flexibility around. I would note I was a prior patient so this information should have been on record anyways. After providing all insurance and credit card information on 4/1 and confirming by text I did not need to fill this out again for the rescheduled appointment, my appointment was canceled without a call or warning on 4/11. Each appointment took two weeks to schedule, making the experience extremely wasteful. I would not recommend wasting your time. The reply from the owner continues to illustrate the lack of empathy of this institution.
Nabeela Mian: I currently see Kathleen Schiffman at TCA Counseling for my OCD. She is so kind and sweet. I am so grateful for the techniques and strategies we go over, and the targets/goals we set, as this has helped me to be more in control of my severe OCD. I am really grateful for people like her who work hard to improve people's mental health, well-being, and quality of life.
Angela Ventura: 3 stars for the group. 10 stars for Adam. He’s amazing, funny, and attentive.
Nora Rabah: Really enjoy my sessions with Kate Schiffman - I highly recommend if she has any availability! I went through two therapists to find the right one, but it was worth it and the telehealth is easy!
Tyree Chambers: Ms. Schiffman has been life changing to me. Every week I’m tapping into more deeper connection to get to know myself better. 10/10!
Dakota Roundtree-Swain: I've been with TCA for going on 5 years and my therapist is ASTOUNDING. THE best therapist I've ever had. She has helped me so much and I'm so so grateful! I highly recommend TCA for your mental health needs :-)
Emily Brabbit: I have been seeing Athena for a couple years now and absolutely LOVE her! Would highly recommend to those struggling with depression/anxiety/ED.
Susannah Buzard: Barbara is reliable and caring. She has helped me through many highs and lows since 2018. She’s never been excessively late and she has never cancelled last minute. She was willing to meet with me and my sister with little preparation. I highly recommend her and TCA!
Abhimanyu Sheshashayee: Excellent services. I have had appointments with both Tonn Cao (Ph.D.) and Constance Lum (LICSW). Both counsellors have been incredibly helpful and empathetic.
Omar Qusrawi: This is my 4th year going here and to say it's been fantastic would be an understatement - great treatment, easy to deal with admin, plenty of therapists for your needs.10/10
Tai-Adi Rojas-Martinez: I've been working with Jeff at TCA since the first week of March 2020. Given that we only had one in-person meeting before everyone went online and into quarantine, I was impressed by how much progress I was able to make exclusively online for so long! Now that we've been back in-person for some time, I still have only positive things to say about my therapist.
Jane M: I had an awful experience with this practice. I had my virtual appointment cancelled without any notice to me. When I called the office, the secretary was rude and unprofessional.
C Lilly: I have been seeing a therapist here for over a year. They make it very convenient by doing remote therapy and payments. My therapist has been great too. She helped me through a lot during the lock down.
Yari Dee: They have a policy that they require health insurance information AND also your credit card information. If patients are fully covered by their health insurance and you already have that information on file along with a picture of insurance, why require credit card from patients? This is absolutely absurd and I decided to not go forward with them. The representative who schedules appointments basically told me that if I don’t provide my credit card information, They would have to cancel my initial appointment. This is quite disappointing and unheard of from a place that offers counseling services.
Sara M: I saw a therapist here for almost a year and it was always a good experience. The place was calming and seems very efficient. All the payments and insurance claims were taken cared of before I even go in each time. I would recommend this place.
Lotus Provincetown: We have hosted wellness groups with TCA and they have always been a pleasure to work with.
Cordelia Muir: I made an appointment with Hadar Lutman weeks ago and was called on the Friday before my Monday appointment telling me my billing information was incorrect because I had left off a number from my credit card information. Due to personal reasons I was unable to return the call until Monday during business hours. At which point I was told my appointment was cancelled. I received no call or email and, had I not reached out, would have never been told that my appointment was cancelled. I had uploaded ALL my forms but because they couldn’t get money from me they cancelled my appointment without warning. On top of that, not a single person I spoke to apologized for cancelling without warning.
Illona Yuhaev: I've had a really good experience with my therapist, Pam Criswell, I highly recommend her. I do not, recommend this practice. The owner (Dr. Tonn Cao) called me during work hours, didn't introduce himself, and said I had to put my credit card on file, even though I have been paying appointment-to-appointment for two years now. When I said I wouldn't, he threatened to cancel all my appointment and then he did. It was a very upsetting experience, and not one I expected to have a therapist's office. As a mental health professional, he should do better.*My response to Dr. Cao's comment: I recommend you make an attempt at a real apology and work on your inter-personal skills instead of commenting like this on your patients' reviews, and writing your own reviews under fake accounts. It's more obvious than you think. Also, please don't misrepresent the situation. I have been a patient for two years, and my account balance was and is zero. I've always paid any and all fees. You make it sound like I refused to pay a bill, and that is not the case. I just asked that you don't save my card information. When you sent me the invoice electronically, I paid it right there and then, because that method allowed me to check a box that said the system will not save my card information. To provide more context, there have been a number of credit card security breaches in the last few years. It is not an unreasonable to not leave your credit card information on file, especially when you instructed your office admins TO MAKE A PHOTOCOPY OF THE PATIENTS' CREDIT CARDS. Do you understand that this is not a secure way to collect and store payment information? You were careless with your patients' credit card information, and disrespectful towards my request to pay in a secure way. Also, it's unethical to refuse care to a patient because they want to pay visit-to-visit. You can do a better job respecting your patients' boundaries. You are a mental health provider. Also, I have a two-year history with your practice and I paid all my bills, so there was no reason for you to worry about me not paying. When I left your office that day, there was no one at the reception desk, so I couldn't pay. It has happened before, and then either someone called me and I paid over the phone, or I paid for two sessions the following week. I was not keeping you from paying your therapists. I was just letting you know that I was not comfortable with the way you stored credit card information, and you cancelled all my appointments in response. Please reflect on that. Please try to do better. You patients deserve better.
Tracey Hunt: Totally love my experience so far! Easy check in and staff is very friendly
