The Clubs at Charles River Park: what do users think?
Drake S: It's a great gym but the music's too loud, especially in the back room with the machines. If you bring your own headphones, you'll still hear their music. It's kinda hard to concentrate. Hopefully they can turn it down a little!Edit: wait nevermind they turned it off I guess?
Olivia Romano: With a MGH employee discount, this is a great deal. Would highly recommend TJ as a personal trainer!
Amfar Arda: It was big enough and organized and clean
A McDonald: I go here for the indoor pool. It's maybe 15 meters? 3 lanes. Noticably shorter than half olympic. If you're near a YMCA or one of the university pools those are probably better for serious lap swim, but this is serviceable, super convenient, and not busy at all on weekday mornings. Have to reserve time in advance; half hour blocks. Rest of the gym seems nice. Lots of MGH folks and an emphasis on personal training services.
Robin Mayfield: The Best!!!
Julie G: Charles River Park is a relaxing health and fitness oasis in the center of the city with two pools (typically with multiple free lanes), excellent classes, trainers and equipment. Although it will undergo outside pool deck renovations soon, it is maintaining interior pool access and swim times/classes. I recommend the water aerobics sessions for low impact/high resistance non-stop fun! It's a pleasure to see families enjoying time in their cabanas - often returning year after year to commune and barbecue poolside.
Best of The Best: Positive:CommunicationGreat place and clean when i go there almost daily.
Jeremy Gartland: The indoor pool is pretty small, very much looking forward to the outdoor pool when the weather is warm. Staff is really friendly, lots of equipment as well. It's a little chilly in there these days however it's tough to find a lap pool that you get a lane to yourself.
Alan Li: This gym is located in the basement with most of the gym equipment as outdated as the facility. Not only that, once I canceled my membership, they continued to charge me two weeks after and when I reached out for some clarification, they responded in a very passive-aggressive and rude way. For the hefty price you pay for the access to this subpar gym, I would recommend using that money and finding a way better gym for half of its price. The only reason I didn't give this place a one star review is because the trainers are nice.
Austin Halani: Good
Andrea Fajardo: I guess it's ok for the membership price? The pool is pretty small for lap swimming. Has an 80s feel like that John Travolta / Jamie Lee Curtis movie. Staff was nice, tons of lockers. The clients tho... A lady kicked me out of my swim lane even though I still had 4min left. I guess you can't control rude Bostonians from showing up in public places. I personally wouldn't recommend this place at least for swimming.
Samuel Lopez: Everything is open and ready for muscle building.
Ramil Rahmanov: Good place
Carla D'avanzo: Been there for two years now, i love Adam’s classes. Great outdoor pool in the summer
Diane Brackett: It's kind of a dumpy-looking gym but they keep it very clean, the staff is nice, and the classes are awesome! Overall worth the membership, even though the hours are somewhat limited.
Saif Al-Enizi: Absolutely love this place. The staff are just amazing, the group fitness classes are excellent, the pool options all year round make it my favorite gym. Have been going almost daily for 3 years now.
Eustace James: Nice and clean gym, the staff are wonderful.
Matthew Tung: Really great rates for Partners employees! Everything you'd want in a gym, really.
Justin Alves: Great atmosphere to work out or hang by the pool
Christine Foster: $25 guest fee. Water is clean and refreshing.
Donna Debellis: Love it

YMCA of Greater Boston - Huntington Ave: what do users think?
erika: Amazing, clean, lovely staff. I’m so thankful for the 2 free personal training sessions I got! Jonah taught me how the strength machines work and it opened up so many opportunities. Now the gym isn’t just a place to walk on the treadmill. It’s a community, a place to work on goals, to get fit and healthy, and it’s therapeutic! Love the Y!
Ruth Khowais: The Y offers many exercise classes, and they are all well run. I also appreciate that they are community-oriented, hosting camp for children, meals for school children, and community dinners for the neighborhood.
Corey Morrell: Always busy. Always. Too many people too little equipment. Huge functional area taking up too much space where there can be 12 other hammer strength or other things.
Kevin Koerner: The gym & workout areas are nice, newer equipment & clean. Many of the cardio machines have been out of order & I would like wireless connection on these machines for ear buds or headphones. Some locker room lockers are rusting and should have rust removed & repainted with oil based paint.
jay weber: a beautiful pool, rarely crowded at the times I swim.
Johnson MrBear: Have done a COVID booster here. The people are friendly. Got Pfizer and 75$ gift card! Awesome deal!
Dahlia Popovits: The Oak Square, Allston, YMCA, has so far been my favorite. I love the water aerobic classes...a different class for every day of the week. The instructors are clear with instruction, and care that you do not hurt yourself, at the same time. The facility is clean and comfortable, and very well organized. Highly recommend!
M.M. L.F.: Many scheduling options, clean and spacious facilities. The pool could be a little warmer though.
Katie Heney: Great value and conveniently located. Facilities are clean and equipment is well relatively well maintained. Everything you need is here weights, pool, great class options, etc and staff is friendly. I look forward to going to the Huntington YMCA! Would recommend!
Ann Beha: the pool is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. The exercise floor is always well staffed and well equipped. Im impressed by the cleanliness and was very touched to see lifeguards help older people get in and out of the pool. Bravo Y!
Michael Dauwer: Home
Robert Melo: Good service and people. Excellent Machine.
Monica VRodríguez: I thought it was the best place where I can workout. At my 45 dealing with a sedentary lifestyle I thought this was the best decision to be healthy physical and mentally, but it was a great disappointment. Some group classes instructors are just rude, impolite and petulant. Seems like they’re trying to sabotage the YMCA so that the number in their classes does not increase. We don’t pay a monthly membership to get bullied by a instructor repeating your name all the time demanding positions while I was trying to strengthen my body while trying to train my ear to understand the names of yoga poses in English. I’m not a beginner and I use to fallow the others, like everyone but is was mostly my name that I hear and things where escalating. I’m not writing this lightly, but I decided to write this review because is so unfair that a great place like this is being sabotaged by this kind of persons.
Norberto Campos: I love this place is great been great to me In our community God blesses place
Rachel Peranzi: I've had a wonderful experience at the Y but it is extremely upsetting that their child watch still isn't open in urban areas when it has reopened wealthy suburban areas. It doesn't feel equitable and dramatically impacts my ability to go to the Y. I even emailed with Marvin Morel, Membership Experience Manager, and he just ghosted on the subject when I pointed this out.But that aside, the facilities are wonderful, children's swim classes have been awesome and the guy in charge there is so nice, and my experience with Jen for personal training has been amazing.
Franerys Ventura: I love swimming lessons because my baby has learned so much
Herbatitans l: Been going there sence 2019 it just that you have to know when is the best time to go there. Because it can get pack real quick.
Petr Horvath: They have a good amount of squat racks. 5/5
Zak Binx: Gym is pretty much unusable during peak hours.Random hours are also full enough you'll struggle to get to things like squat racks or free weights. No leg curl machine, and leg extension machine is broken and had been for 6 months. If you want treadmill or bikes, no one uses those and there is plenty
Allan Valerio: Good gym but they should extend the opening hours!! Closing at 6pm on a Saturday...
Kandise Kanelos: Great summer camp, my daughter loves going there and loves all of the activities. She comes home happy and tired everyday!

Commonwealth Sports Club: what do users think?
Ben Weaver: I recently joined CSC and it’s a wonderful facility. Very spacious and lots of equipment. All the staff members I’ve interacted with have been very helpful, kind, and welcoming. Highly recommend CSC!!
Joe Swanson: Great staff, great facilities, love working out here! Doesn't get too crowded and theres plenty of wonderful places in the area to visit for a healthy post workout snack hahaha
Faical Rayani: They were not able to provide a guest pass or a trial period so I can try the gym.I've never heard of a gym that doesn't have a guest pass or a trail period.Seems like a bad policy for attracting customers.Certainly did not attract me.
S Morales: I've spent my time at a lot of gyms, either attending or working, and I love the time I've spent at CSC! Staffers and members are friendly. The pool is a big plus, and the yoga classes were really well taught. I recommend this Allston gem to anyone wanting a well rounded gym experience.
tony nguyen: The best gym with a nice salt water and steam room, great amenities!
Duncan Hilton: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityThis is the best gym I've ever been to - the kindness of the staff, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the support of the trainers. I highly recommend it!
Brian Hall: Great staff, great equipment
Cole Kerr: Great facilities (and a nice pool) for a good price. Most importantly they refunded me very generously for several months of subscription when I mistakenly forgot to opt out of the post-COVID reactivation. After my horrific experiences with Boston Sports Club this was a very pleasant surprise! If I ever live in the neighborhood again I will gladly reopen my account with them. They take care of their customers, which is a rare quality in this industry imo
Claudia Meyer: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityVery clean and great layout. Great services!
Paula K: Great place. Great people. Very clean.
Melchior Maetzener: I miss swimming
Grant LaPierre: Overpriced planet fitness with poor management
Alexandria Will-Cole: Critical:Communication
Michael Logar: Best gym in Boston!
Masha Sukher: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Ann Whitney Freeman Sands: I love my gym
Yuge: Very good
Yeonsoo Kim: I love the place, group fitness classes and the facility itself are all very nice. However the staff there was SUPER unfriendly and rude. I loved going there for few weeks, but totally changed my opinion about this place after calling them for something and the attitude was totally unexpected. I called to change my membership from $79 regular membership to $900 personal training membership (3x week). Which I consulted about before even signing up. I talked with three employees from the club and they all said I could change my membership whenever I wanted to, there is a 4month commitment to the regular membership but it wouldn't matter if I changed to the personal training membership. However the front desk person kept telling me I am not allowed to change my membership because I didn't fulfill my 4months. She said I would have to keep my membership and purchase extra personal training sessions on top of the membership because I have to keep it for 4 months. I told them names of people I consulted about this but she said "You must have misheard her" which really threw me off- I did not mishear, I double checked and triple checked because I was interested in personal training from the beginning, and plus I am trying to pay more to the club and they are not letting me do it?????Anyways it turns out I was right, I am allowed to change my membership(of course, $79 vs. $900 duh) and not worry about the 4 month commitment I had with regular membership. BUT the front desk person DID NOT SAY a single apology, all the confusion, all the arguments, she didn't have the basic info she should have had; she was like, oh it seems I can do that, and I asked couple more questions afterwards but she sounded like she was so annoyed by that point and kept repeating the same thing she already told me and telling me to come to club on Monday and figure things out. Worst customer service experience, the person I talked to was super unfriendly and rude, almost made me NOT want to go to the club anymore.
Susan Fried: This is the first time I've ever been consistently motivated to stick with a training program long-term. It's because of the staff at CSC. They are friendly, professional, and make sure I have a training program customized for my needs. The facilities are always immaculate and comfortable. Instead of a big "corporate machine", it's small enough so I feel like it's "my gym". They greet everybody by name and create a warm and welcoming environment. I also like that there is a Physical Therapy practice on site! After an orthopedic surgery the Physical Therapist and a Personal Trainer worked collaboratively to maximize my recovery. It's a winning combination.
vincent benetreau: Definitely the best gym in the Boston area. The staff is amazing, knowledgable and always ready to help. They don't have every machine but all the equipment is in great condition and you can tell maintenance is done often. Salt water pool, steam room, sauna, and HOT TUB! Besides all that, the real plus is the atmosphere: the staff works hard to create a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, so everyone is nice. You can still get in the zone and do your thing, but it's a much nicer environment than most gyms I've been too. I had to change gyms because I moved to another part of Boston, and I miss CSC dearly!
Meifeng Jiang: Good service

Dorchester YMCA: what do users think?
Den Den: The Dorchester YMCA has been a great experience. I joined for many reasons and from the receptionist Shante, to the spin instructor Marilyn and my swim instructor Robert all have made this journey such great experience. I went into swim with no expectations because drowning was always my fear. Robert guided me and was patient with me every class. He showed me the basics to lead me to feeling comfortable to doing all that we practiced on my own. He is really a great teacher /instructor, very positive attitude, and hands on. I continue to use his guidance whenever I'm there. Its been a joy being apart of the Y experience.
Elle Marrone: Friendly people, neighborhood feel, clean workout rooms, and equipment is in good condition.
Leanora “His queen” DiGaetano: My 8 year old LOVES your pool!
Moses Andrade: The mens bathroom not clean just smells bad.
Moe Rego: Positive:Professionalism,QualityMs. Shontae, Brotha Sam, and the staff have been friendly, professional, and helpful!
Gloria R Chapman (Glo): Happy water aerobics classes are offered!!
Matthew Gibson: Positive:QualityThe Dorchester Y has a pool that is open year-round, even in these crazy times. So establish or renew your membership and grow healthier holistically.
JoAnn Smith: The Zumba Here is Awesome!
Charles Horner: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI enjoy the time I spend at the Ymca. I feel it is very important to invest 💯 in your health and wellness. The Ymca provides a safe and clean place to work out ( amazing gym) I appreciate the commitment to the community also 👍
kimberly sadberry: Zumba classes are the best! A studio full of people interested in getting a good work out, having fun, and doing something good for ourselves. The instructors are welcoming and full of high energy! :)
Lisa T: The swimming instructors are patient with the children
Julia Roy: Great people, great facility, affordable membership price
Ociny Marius: This is a good place to send your child.
Russell Mcgee: Clean and friendly, the staff are very helpful, I enjoy my time there..
Lydia Harden: I love the Dorchester Y. They have the best staff, you never have to wait for equipment, and the pool is great. Also it is literally the cleanest YMCA (or gym) I have experienced. Super affordable monthly price. Enough said!
M P: Best swimming lessons for my kids
Gina Montalvo: Girls did good the gym was nice
Simona Rits: The staff that runs the kids karate program is great! They are so patient with the little ones, and great at getting them engaged.
Michele Dent: The staff are extremely knowledgeable and have years of experience in their Individual fields of expertise. Most importantly, they are dedicated, loyal, and lifelong members of our community. Thus, they understand the struggles that children must overcome in order to be successful in life. They work extremely well as a team and they have a shared vision of success for the organization as well as the community as a whole. Coach Trey, Coach D, Sensei Marvin Harris, Sensei Jerome Harris, Sensei Jerome and all of the staff work hard to create a safe and nurturing environment that is centered around teaching the whole child. They constantly go beyond the call of duty in order to meet the needs of the children in their care. It is truly reassuring and inspirational to witness this level of compassion and empathy from the teachers at the YMCA. It truly does take a village to raise a child and the YMCA has always been an integral component of this village in our community.
Carla Casey: The pool is always the right temperature. The instructor is FABULOUS!!!

Oak Square YMCA: what do users think?
Karla Weathers: Provided a 10 out of 10 rating. They have welcomed my son and this community has done everything they can to support him w what he needs.
Walter Silver: Great facility, friendly staff
Emrullah Çelik: Very good place, everyone seems so nice and friendly.
Ryan L: P good
Henrique Fernandes: Machines broken and stay broken, been a member for around 5 months and since the first day one of the stairs was broken, 5 months past and it’s still broken, basically this happens to all machines. It’s frustrating, overall, the gym is okay, just think there should be more than just one machine for some
Alyce Brady: My friend was a lifeguard and she quit due to how she was being treated and the safely conditions she was working in. Her boss, let’s say his name is ~Johnny~, who were not properly trained to do chemicals for the pool and had them still do it. In addition, he would falsify in the notes that he did them to her and this is a safety concern and overall wrong doing. Children swim here and want to let parents know this!!!
Michael O'Shea: Well kept facility. Really kind, welcoming, helpful and patience staff. makes being a member that much more enjoyable
Ajsa Mehmedovic: Very clean gym, nice staff, great connection to the community. No judgement and great classes!
David Choi: Clean, nice staff, great hottub and pool, steam room,,,I hope that they can enlarge locker rooms.
srh rad: Fantastic try the POUND class I can't wait to go back
Marilyn Matis: Aquaerobics instructor motivating and makes exercise fun. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Lifeguards patient and helpful. Locker room and pool kept immaculately clean. Go to Oak Square Y!
Marta Lopez: Estimates suggest that more than 7 million children in the United States are without adult supervision for some period of time after school.I'm grateful to have easy access to Before/After School Program with Oak Square YMCA.There my daughter have the opportunity to promote personal and social skills.I have no complaints. Since day one when my daughter did start at K2 the counselors was amazing with her, today she is on 2nd Grade and we still enjoying the Program and looking forward to many more years to come!!!Thank you so much for everything you guys do every single day Tom, Caroline, Ashley, Abby, Najey, etc. Thank you guys for all you do.
Angela Tang: The staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable; the equipments are clean; lots of exercise classes. I like the most is that I learn and play pickleball there; the free play schedule are good. We enjoy it very much!!!
Marty G: The kids love the time to play, get together with friends, do homework, work on projects and enjoy the counselors and environment. We have been very grateful to have this program available and our children use both before and after school programs with the Y!
Elena Novikov: YMCA is a good place for workout for everybody, from children to elderly and between. There are the 100s ways in one place to be stronger, healthier and happy. There are pools, steam room, many strength training machines, treadmills, bicycles , group classes and much more for every demands and goals. The water and locker area are warm, neat and clean and have all necessary things. There is the place for dining as well. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am really pleased and feel stronger and more mobile after I started my training. Thank you all for your meaningful work.
Patricia Lydon: A most welcoming staff! Great water aerobics class with Allison. Also love yoga instructors, my friends in Pickleball , and the Fit for life instructors!
Blake O'Brien: Easily the best gym I have been a member of in my 8 years in Boston. Staff, patrons, equipment, amenities are all top tier.
Narjes: Love the gym, staff and vibes!
Nischal Mahaveer chand: Friendly staff and good facilities. The pool is clean and gym equipment are in good condition. Plenty of onsite parking and bus stop right outside the facility
Jake Hypersonic: Fun, full locker room & experience if busy with the local college bros during the school year. Would not rcmnd going outside of that time period.
Elias D: This is my favorite place to exercise as a member of the Brighton community due to the availability of family plans, good deals, a variety of amenities, and most of all-a staff that cares. I work with this Y to feed the locals as well and have worked with the director and other folks involved to make it a better place for all people. I recommend this Y to all.

South End Fitness Center: what do users think?
Steve Delaney: This place is fair it is easy going and it provides a meditative environment without it I'd be completely lost, the staff and security are real people, great people, mad respect to this place
Ian Mcmahon: Chronically short staffed, erratic hours. Old equipment.
Kim Cornelius: I think this place has been turned into a shelter for men.
Donna V: Best value in Boston. No frills but it has everything, it all works, there’s free parking, and I’m often the only one in the pool in the late morning. Hidden gem.
EJ x SB: Barely any weights if that's what you're looking for and the membership prices are way too overpriced and long of a commitment. They do have a pool and basketball court though. The neighborhood is as bad as any neighborhood could ever get
David Jones: Great facility with pool.
giovanni santiago: This place is awesome!
Daniela Klaz: Best indoor pool in Boston, but the rest of the place leaves something to be desired. The locker rooms are saunas, but not in a good way. The pool deck probably gets cleaned once a quarter. The staff are not always kind. But, it’s the cheapest membership pool in the city that doesn’t limit swim times.
Richard Nixon: Love love this little hide out gym. Not as fancy as the others, but its full basket ball court and Olympic pool..its perfect!!
Kris Corbett: Positive:Professionalism,QualityThe location of this gym is perfect for me, there is free parking nearby. Reasonable price, clean. Everything suits me perfectly!
Anthony G: Great place to get your workout session in
Josme Filing: This gym is perfect for me, especially for the student membership discount. Small but useful.
Stuart Armstrong: The basketball court here is top notch. The weight room is small, but if you go in the morning, there is no problem with crowds. Also, this is no Equinox, but SEFC is one twelfth the price of Equinox and does the job quite well.
Samantha Defreitas: I love the swimming pool
Christopher Cavender: Gets the job done and is relatively quiet
Nelson Carpentier: Great gym without bells and whistles. Can't be the price, especially in the south end. Free parking is nice too. Highly recommend it
Scotty D: Best pool in Boston .... The guy that runs the place uses the pool so you know it's kept up 💯 .... Awesome spot
Damon Neach: Don't remember but nice
S DS: Affordable and conveniently located. Could benefit from upgraded equipment and more space. But overall great place.
Edwin Melendez: Great basketball court but small work out area. Another perk, parking is free if you're there under two hours.
GEORGE Vondohlen: Heavy bag, speed bag, swimming pool, plenty of equipment and free weights.

Mei Su: Good place to do exercise and keep your body shape
Nikita Bernstein: Clean. WiFi is unreliable. Facilities are solid.
Rachel Z: Two incredible pools!!! I love this center!!!
Lingesh Sadhasivam: Better swimming pool, small and compact place for a workout. Good shower rooms.
Alex Helderman: Wish it was open on weekends.
Michael Chen: Really convenient gym for MIT affiliates and students. Lots of treadmills, stationary bikes, and a standard suite of machines. Only a couple of squat racks and benches though, so you'll went to pick a slower time if you want to do barbell exercises.
Rohit Singh: Lots of stuff to do
Glenn Li: Friendly staff. Small gym but not too full
Mehmet Kanik: Not the best pool but not bad. It is not very clean. Usually full.
Andrew Xia: Very nice gym facilities and swimming pool for the MIT community

Wang YMCA of Chinatown: what do users think?
Liliana Sepulveda: The best space I have found for my daughter, she lives happily there.
Michael Seymour: My daughter has been in the YMCA after school program for five years. She loves it! I do too. We love that she gets picked up at her school and escorted to the Y. They are provided a snack and homework time. I particularly appreciate it because in my limited weekday evening time with my kid, we don't have to spend it doing homework. Then they get physical activity for the last hour. I know my daughter loves it because that's all she talks about on our walk home.
Heyne Kim: I have not been to YMCA elsewhere, but this place is great, especially staff! Features lots of machines, shower facilities, and pool. My only wish is that they had more variety in group fitness classes.
Erik: Great place to play basketball.
Hadia Diallo: My daughter just started the fall preschool stage 1 swim class. She loves the class so much and is always too excited. I really appreciate how patient, kind, and supportive they are with her.
Johanny Santana: Great program for the kids
Emily: Can't recommend highly enough for kid swim lessons
Gilberto Gonzalez: The instructor is fantastic. Even with my 2 and a half year old screaming like a maniac, he was always able to manage keeping the class engaged and get my kid involved. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. For the age group I think it's very appropriate and I look forward to the next stage once my child turns 3.
Christopher Lento: The kids after school program is great. Jen has a good relationship with all the kids and my daughter always wants to stay longer when I pick her up.
Christine Mclellan: Staff are friendly and extremely help. Facility is older but very clean. I would recommend joining the Wang YMCA. Christine
Amanda Robinson: Great place for kids to enjoy summer or to attend after school. Setting is small but inviting.
Ricardo Jay: This place & staff are awesome! My 7 year old is completely at home here!
Tom Callanan: Great experience!
Jessica Awerman: Love their after school program! So easy and my kid was happy so I’m happy :)
Sophia: swimming pool is bad
Jasmine Perry: Very flexible staff, Mr. Keith was the best director and they have awesome staff who is very kind and loving towards the children.
S W: Been a Wang-YMCA member for a long number of years. The Staff has been wonderful with my issues or concerns. When COVID started they still did a wonderful job how they handled things. I was able to reach the location even through uncertain times.
Jennifer Beelzebub: CLEANAMPLE EQUIPMENTFRIENDLY STAFFGOOD SAFETY FOCUSI have been using this facility a few times a week for months now through their nationwide program (I’m a member of an out of state Y). The staff is always friendly and accommodating with safety first in mind. I mainly use this place for weight training and stretching and they have everything I need to get closer to my fitness goals. First off, the lockers and bathrooms are always clean, along with the rest of the facility. The weight room may seem a bit small at first glance but even in peak times there isn’t an issue getting the workout in that I plan for the day. Good move on their part having two squat racks. The facility also has two full sized basketball courts that alternate for community activities such as volleyball, ping pong and general adolescent gym (I believe they coordinate with nearby schools for physical education). The events when the courts are not free are posted so that anyone can plan around the schedule to have time to shoot some hoops. I’ve never had an issue with the young kids being disrespectful or in the way of what I’m there to do. They also have many treadmills, stair climbers, row machines, stationary bikes, weight machine circuit, and even a pool. They just got a push sled as well which I’m very excited about. I have travelled all around the country for my job most of my adult life and have been to probably 40+ YMCA’s over the years. The Wang YMCA makes the most of their space and has the kind of community focused efforts that should come standard with any Y. The only complaint that I could possibly bring up is their not being open on Sundays but in all honestly I wouldn’t even want that to change. I respect the idea of the staff having a designated day each week to focus on whatever they please in their personal lives. They certainly deserve it.
Eddies: It's a decent fitness facility which is kept clean and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. They have just about anything I need. The free weight room tends to get crowded in the evenings and it's tough to access the (one) bench press especially when someone decides to sit on it endlessly looking at their phone in between sets. The Cybex circuit is usually fine but you do find that occasional (usually young person) hogging a machine. Rule enforcement is dependent on which staff are on duty and what time you are there. There are a good amount of cardio machines, a stretching area, two basketball courts, and a pool. This Y still has a community feel to it, unlike Huntington which feels like it has been taken over by local colleges.
Khadir Didane: The manager (Kelly) is very professionalThank you!
Aoife Austin: I have been using the pool during COVID and the staff and management have been incredible from the foyer to the poolside and so considerate and helpful. I feel they take our safety very seriously and are always open to making sure we understand the system and policies that are in place to keep us all safe and fit. They manage to do this with good humor and a sense of kindness. YMCA has proven to be the silver lining to COVID.

Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center: what do users think?
Kazi Mukitul: free for Full time students. Amazing place for fitness exercise and games.
Ben Senderling: It's a good gym. But they're doing some equipment cleaning and renovations and appear to not be bring back the 110 and 120 lbs dumbells. Those were a significant reason I switched to this gym.
Jonathan Nash: Great facilities, excellent equipment selection.
Bob Kao: Nice gym and swimming pool
Chris Chang: Please state that you're not open on Google too.
Omar: Awesome gym! Loads of equipment and with 20,000 SQ feet you won't be disappointed. Of course around peak times you would normally find a line for the core lifts( bench, deadlift and squat) but with two floor of equipment even a indoor track?! Love this place!
Sage Holloway: Too crowded. Generally a nice space but I can almost never do my workout plan because it’s overly crowded and not enough space/equipment.
Mikhail M. Nitko: Hi-- I am actually part of the staff at BU and use this center, and I want to note a few things:1. There are staff-only locker rooms, which by my experience are used 80% by staff and I'm not sure how some of the younger patrons of these got the keypad codes to get in. Its my only reason for 4 and not 5 stars.2. Your BU Blue Cross/Blue Shield health benefit can be used here and will reimburse $150.3. If you don't buy a locker membership, finding a locker during a crowded time (4pm+) can be tough, but not impossible.4. The equipment is new and quite good, but be mindful that these are kids you're working out with, some of whom were in highschool the year prior, and many will not know gym etiquette about wiping things down after use, or not starting a workout infront of someone using the wall mirror for their workout. And other small nuisances.5. The sauna is located in the locker room for the pool, but bear in mind that it is dry, the temperature control is outside the room and I think goes only to 130 or so, and is a bit temperamental (in the men's locker room), and more importantly-- there is no water to place on the stones. So the students/staff get water from elsewhere and bring it in water bottles to place it on the stones so the room has steam. So don't expect an authentic sauna experience at 180 degrees, and ladling water.6. The indoor track is really nice, and rare, and I am super-grateful for it because treadmills are so boring. But take note of what I said in point #3-- you're also sharing it with kids who don't know gym etiquette yet, and will not read the signs that say that on specific days of the week you run/walk in one or another specific direction around the track. So you will run into them, and will need to correct them, but so far all have taken the correction in a friendly way.7. Some locker-room showers do have broken soap dispenses that don't work despite being full, so you'll need to be aware and bring your own.Otherwise the facility is plain great -- clean facility, new equipment, good airflow on the running track, minimal college highjinks from the students that are confined to the locker room.
Joseph Walker: Great facilities, excellent equipment selection. Only complaint is the Men's locker room could use better ventilation, if you catch my meaning.
Chuan Hu (Archuan): I come here at least twice a week! Good facilities and friendly staff.
Dave Bedard: First rate
Sarah Bella: too crowded, but nice
Xiangyi Meng: One of the best things of being a bu student.
Desmond Molloy: Parents/community members, please take care using facilities: FitRec has at least one employee facing criminal charges for indecent exposure.
Mariusz Kaczka: I climbed in this gym when in Boston; reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it :)
Eric Lazarian: Plenty of parking, not too expensive, machines are new, great track. Lockers suck, little floor help. Good location.
Meifeng Jiang: Best. Good big pool
Agent MeatBun: Such a nice place to work out.It has the best equipment, there should always have enough space and equipment for u.
Robert Gerstner: The Fitrec has been an amazing part during my studies at Boston University. It's a great place to meet and talk to other students from BU and the building offers everything you need for doing great sports (perfect for swimming, climbing, running, weight lift, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, dancing and much more ...)
Pengcheng Zhou: Best University Gym in Boston Area.

Charlestown YMCA: what do users think?
Helen: The Charlestown YMCA is a caring, active place. The staff has been outstanding during covid, making every effort to keep us safe, informed and exercised. Friendly, helpful people.
Yahri Marc: Very friendly and clean environment 💪🏽
Basak Ozer: My daughter has been taking swimming lessons here. She loves Paige, who not only is a fantastic teacher of the swimming technique, always safe and attentive, but she is also loving, fun, and patient which gives my daughter confidence and a desire to keep coming to a cold pool in the middle of the winter :) There are always varying skill levels and ages in the class and Paige is able to keep it challenging for each kid. We also had lessons with Yan in the past, who was also fantastic, in the same ways. I wish this YMCA offered additional sports activities for the kids which would then make sense for us to become members. Our community direly needs tennis, basketball, etc… please consider this.
Walid Jumblatt: Very nice people and good facility
nicholas catanese: Best gym I have been to ever the service is unbelievable
mar mor: The pool bold man guy was so rude, probably he is fired
Nicole Alfaro: Very clean location and great price for a gym in the area. There is also a nice size pool.
Lisa Rawlinson Rouland: I love the YMCA in Charlestown a town I grew up in, and joining with my 2 daughters is amazing, we can't wait to due the Zumba class n other classes they have. The people their seem very nice and the gym is clean. They have an Olympic size pool which we can't wait swimming is one of the best exercises and just to be getting healthy with my , 2 girls it's going to be fun...
Kevin Thomas: Great place and even better people! Wanna give a special shout out to Lauren for signing me up and giving me a tour around the place.
Nancy Hurley: As a longtime ymca member (at various locations) I love the Charlestown Y!! The staff are so welcoming and professional and the location is perfect.
Josh White: Great, no frills gym. Has all the equipment you would want for weight training or cardio. Staff is awesome, I've been doing weight training with John for a while and would highly recommend!
James Duran: Nice place, very clean
Billy Smith: great place for a swim and work out
Shino Ito: Friendly service and there is 4 swimming lanes. Check when there are swimming classes though. They use 1-2 lanes for them.
Stanley Paine: I train here 3 times a week and enjoy the positive attitude of my trainer Oscar who knows how to push you in the right way. Good music and an excellent workout environment. And I am seeing results for sure.
Ahmed Adam: The best place to work out it’s very clean and good management
Brittany Hampton: Loved that you were able to safely maintain programs that are engaging for our children. The sports program is limited to 10 kids, spread across a large gym, kids and instructors wore masks and my boys are thoroughly enjoying sports again!
S K: The staff is very friendly and appreciative of our membership. I applaud the ymca for taking very strict precautions during this pandemic and that makes me feel comfortable working out at their facilities.
Vincent Cataldo: Staff is wonderful and definitely Veteran friendly
JoAnn Ford: Great place. Clean, all new equipment and Jim is terrific!!
Martha Bien-Aime: The team is so great and treat you with care.
