Megan Zalenas: I was recently in Boston for a medical trip and was looking for something new to try. I spent a good hour scrolling thru all the food delivery apps.After pouring through positive reviews, I settled on The Halal Guys. I ordered the Beef Gyro Sandwich. The pita is fresh and soft and holds up well to the meat they pile onto the pita. However, I’d strongly suggest ordering the Platters instead if it’s being delivered. By the time it’s delivered, the pita is just soaked in grease.It was so good the first time, I had to try it again! This time, I went with the Chicken and Beef Gyro Platter. It was filled with special rice, tomatoes, lettuce, pita slices, beef, & chicken. I highly recommend ordering extra pitas- you can easily get two meals out of a Regular size platter.The food was delicious. Hot. Fresh. Delivered quickly. I’d highly recommend it to others who love Gyro-style meats.Pro Tip: The red sauce is HOT. This is coming from someone who loves hot and spicy. The white sauce is phenomenal and will put out the burn. I suggest ordering an extra white sauce with your order.

Dipen Patel: Fast food with great flavors and healthy options! Enjoyed their small platter that comes with lettuce, tomatoes, rice, falafel or meat option, pita, many topping options ( green pepper, jalapeños, olives, onions, …). Topped off with plenty white and hot sauces. Plenty of bottled and homemade drink options. Limited sitting available inside. They have the sauces available in the fridge for second, thirds,… at no cost. What more you can ask for in ~$11!

Our delivery driver, Jamie, was phenomenal! I can be hard to navigate our office building (some outside doors are locked - I don’t know why) but he didn’t mind. He was super friendly and kind!

Shrijay Kudale: If you want a quick healthy bite, then shahs halal is the place. The most famous items on the menu are rice and chicken, rice and fish. The fish may take few minutes as they fry fish after you order.Sometimes the restaurant messes up with the additional toppings on delivery orders, but that’s in rare cases and it’s understandable as they have lot of options.I won’t recommend kofta kebab to anybody visiting this restaurant first time.

Michael OConnell: While walking by the restaurant on my way back to the parking garage, I stopped in here at random and ordered a lamb platter. I was expecting a good meal, but I was surprised at how good it was. The lamb was so tender and delicious! There were plenty of sides to complement the meat: rice, salad, hummus, sauces. Everything was excellent and blended very well together. I spoke with the staff afterwards, and they were very friendly and gracious. It was obvious that they took a lot of pride and care in their cooking. I promised I would visit again the next time I was in the city, and I am looking forward to trying their other options.

The food was so amazing, came with nice sauce and flavor. Great meat portion, fresh salads and sides. Price was so affordable even without the offer. The food portion was large and good for the price. We purchased from this place two times after our first time. Definitely a great place to try some Mediterranean foods.

Their hot sauce had some kick and the white sauce balanced it out. Very very good chicken over rice.I also tried the lamb over rice and was not as impressed as the chicken. That is probably just my own preference though. The Kafta Kabob over rice is a good alternative to chicken though.The fries are also really good. Crispy on the outside but good potato flavor inside.The surprise item which absolutely blew me away was the Philly Cheesesteak. I cannot believe how good it was (they add ketchup by default which is blasphemous but to each their own. I order mine without. Both are packed with flavors and balance perfectly with the rice and veggies on the dish. Their philly cheesesteaks are surprisingly delicious and a great meal if you’re not looking for a rice platter/gyro.If you’re looking for a quick bite, I’d definitely recommend this place. Ambiance is perfect for a quick sit down, eat, and go situation. Very casual and simple. Service is generally nice, I haven't had a poor experience there yet (and I eat here very frequently lol).

Boston W: Food is great!!! Almost every dish on the Menu is worth trying. It is a small restaurant, but great chefs. I had to alter my Star Rating because the prices have doubled in some cases. Not sure what happened. A Doner which used to be $14 is now $29. So, read the Menu and prices before ordering. It isn't a high or moderate priced restaurant so there are other Southend places with equal prices and great food.

SCBoston: This is a review for their food truck that was scheduled to open (per their website) at 12 PM (Waltham location). I arrived around 12 30 PM and they were still not opened. There was a line of people and it was 90 degrees outside. They finally opened around 12 55 PM which is almost an hour after their scheduled time. I ordered 2 large chicken rice plates. When I came home and opened the box, one box had mostly rice and a few pieces of chicken and one box had no rice but all chicken.. I am not sure if I was supposed to mix it together..? Which I ended up doing. Overall, I think they should keep their scheduled/promised time with their customers (the person who took my order did not even mention that they were sorry about opening an hour late), and should make sure the orders are packaged correctly.

They cut down their lunch box to half a skewer and dinner box being one skewer for $16.95. No side is included anymore either and neither is the grilled tomato. We also enjoyed the stuffed grape leaves which were garnished with a squiggle of mildly spicy red sauce.The restaurant has only a few tables in the dining area but on a warm spring day the AC was appreciated. The staff is very friendly and bid us goodbye as we left.Vegetarian options: Stuffed grape leaves, eggplant dip, hummus, eggplant spread, cucumber yogurt dip, homemade yogurt, garden vegetables and eggplant in seasoned vinegar, pickled vegetables, tabouli salad, traditional Persian soup, lentil soup, falafel, okra stew, lentil rice, green peas rice, barberry rice, authentic Persian ice cream with pistachios, baghlava.
Abdullah B: I’ve been a loyal patron of this business for around 3 years now. I can say confidently that you won’t get better and more authentic Persian food than this little gem on Peterborough street. Another thing I’ve kept track of, if that that not once have they messed up my order. They’ve always been spot on with generous, fulfilling portions. Everything on the menu is made fresh and the quality is actually superb. A special shout out to Melissa for being a great manager as well the owners who are always in the restaurant taking care of their customers.

I love ordering their naans, biryanis, palak paneer, samosas, kadhai chicken… I could go on and on. The lamb biryani is a must try.The food also holds up really well to delivery and take out.

Ben Benson: I’d never tried Somali food before so I drove out to Tawakal on a rainy Sunday night hoping to find a new food craving - they delivered! I ordered a Chicken Chapati Wrap, fries and a Shaah tea. The wrap was so flavorful, assembled well and felt similar to many other comfort foods I like, yet still a new experience and definitely one I want to have again soon. It also comes with a delicious house-made hot sauce which was a much appreciated addition. The Shaah was a highlight for me - it was served at a perfect temperature, and had a really lovely, complex flavor.Overall Tawakal was a great introduction to Somali cuisine, and I’m excited to go back and try more items on the menu!I dined in solo - at least in the cold months the space seems more conducive to takeout but dining in is definitely possible, especially if you are alone or with a small group. Ordering is done online even when dining in, but the staff are friendly and provided efficient service despite an online order rush.
Nkem Aduka: This small spot in East Boston has delicious food worth every penny. I usually order the beef biryani and chapati, but have also tried their teas. I have never been disappointed and I always look forwarding to ordering from them.
CC: Poor service…Ill mannered female at the front was un-attentive. When attention was finally given, was told to place an order online instead of at the register . Dirty tables, food packaged so poorly it spilled into bag, and long wait time.

Athens: This was my first time trying Somali foods, and it exceeded my expectations. This is a small place with only a few tables, but very friendly and helpful staff that recommended dishes to try out. Everything came out quick and very hot. We got the tawakal plate with beef, chapati wrap with chicken, sambusa, and shaah tea.The Tawakal plate is made of cut up chapati pieces with beef in a spiced (but not spicy) tomato sauce. The chapati pieces almost felt like noodles since it was soaked in the sauce. The chunks of beef were really tender. This was my favorite dish that I tried during this meal.Chapati wrap: lettuce and shredded chicken wrapped in a chapati. Also comes with fries and their own hot sauce.Sambusa: lightly seasoned beef, similar to samosa, perfectly crispy on the outside.The shaah tastes similar to chai, especially if milk is added. The spices were strong and it wasn't too sweet.I would recommend this restaurant, and already looking forward to coming back to try out all the other dishes!
