SALMAGUNDI Hats & Accessories - North End, Boston: what do users think?
Peter Cook: Really pleased with this little store; Shane was super helpful and patient as I tried on hats. Would recommend stopping by!
Celeste De Palma: The owners and staff are super helpful!! I have bought hats for my husband as gifts and many more for myself. I have loved every single hat I own, and I give them a lot of use since I walk around town so much. I love this hat store.Recommendations are always spot on. They work with you on orice and really try to find something that you will love, not just sell you stuff. Going to Salmagundi is a whole experience.
Bill May: Have always loved hats. Have wanted to go here for years. Finally went. What a cute store. All different kinds of hats and caps for men and women. Such a comfortable atmosphere. The shop keeper was very friendly and sharply dressed. And though I tried on and wanted many, I only bought one. (this time ;)
Nichole Lovett: Happened upon this place recently and was so glad I did! Found the most adorable hat in a different style that was recommended by the charming shopkeep. I’ll always support a local haberdashery!
Frank Muise: Excellent high end hat shop! The gentleman running the store was very friendly and helpful. They have a great variety of styles and colors. This shop is a must if you're looking for a fashionable hat for any season.
Phil Luthman: Stopped in to browse, what a lovely hat store! Gentleman who helped us taught us a lot about hats, sizing, materials, etc. Was welcoming and not pushy at all which was refreshing. If you need a men’s or women’s hat I highly advise you to stop in!
Maite Rivas: If you need a hat (and everyone does!) go visit this store. Easy to find if you are in the North End and a short 2 blocks from Faneuil Hall. There are so many hats across all price points and other great accessories too. We were so welcomed by the store attendant and he even stretched the hat I picked to fit better. Great place to get yourself a present and bring presents home.

Colin Haggerty: Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Assisted with sizing. Took all my measurements and made profile for future purchases.
Kevin Hilty: Phenomenal hats and fantastic personnel. The man really knows his stuff and the WIDE selection of hats leads to quite awhile being spent there. If I lived in Boston, I know where I'd be looking for a job lol.

Charbel Salamoun: Planned my day completely around coming to the gem hat store in all of Massachusetts. As an international traveler who's worked in many countries, few countries have a hat store that can offer the abundance of styles and blends needed for any and every occasion. Salmagundi has it all. If you need a hat for any occasion or just to spice up your style do it. Awesome staff also who take their time and share their life's passion with you. It's an experience to be in the store and something like a museum of creativity and color. So happy we have this shop local. What a blessing.
Katie Robinson: My husband and I first visited Salmagundi last fall and were so impressed at the wide selection, quality, and most of all, the outstanding and personable service! We went in to find me a stylish, warm weather hat for fall/winter. Not only did we find a myriad of great options, but the owner personally sized to perfection and kindly described how to care for the hat as well! The wife and husband owners are so enthusiastic and friendly and as soon as you walk in the door, it’s as if you’re already fast friends. In fact, it actually seems they are friends with about everyone in the community. Since then I’ve found a cool dress, five different headbands (the most comfortable and thoughtfully made I’ve ever worn), and two perfect, wide-brimmed, summer hats. Needless to say, we highly recommend and always enjoy everything in the shop, especially the experience.

Marie Galvin Fine Millinery: what do users think?
Liza Shtromberg: My daughter and I had the best visit to Marie’s store. She is so talented and delightful. Her work is tasteful and timeless, definitely love her work and the entire experience!
Roslyn Lawrence: I was late in trying to get my hat for the Kentucky Derby and Marie was awesome! Her shop was closed as the inventory was low but she opened up her doors readily. She helped me to find just the perfect hat!! Her shop is totally totally amazing! I got so many compliments on my hat which went perfectly with my dress. Thank you Marie and I can’t wait to come again!!
Kaitlyn Macvarish: Wow is all I can say. Marie many thanks to making my first Kentucky Derby 100%. Honestly you have given me serious confidence w the hat situation. THANKYOU for helping me w the hat emergency~ such short notice but you made it happen!! I’m so so so glad I didn’t wear those fascinators I got in Naples FL. I trusted my gut as I felt “mehhh” and called/emailed/texted/stalked you. I’m sorry I know you were flat out extremely busy- but it needed to happen and I’m so glad it did!!!! I truly appreciate your focus and attention in choosing the perfect color and style to compliment the color palettes of my dress!I have had innumerable friends (even strangers) ask about my hat, I just wish I had more places to wear it … onto the headbands I guess 😉 I will be in touch soon 👒
Julie Macrae: Marie was wonderful to work with when I needed two hats for the Kentucky Derby. She used her expertise and created hats that went beautifully with my outfits.
Madison Maushart: Marie's hats and fascinators are truly a work of art. Her attention to detail and the overall craftsmanship of the pieces are unparalleled to anything I have ever seen. I value her opinion and trust her judgement when helping to decide which is the right look. I always leave feeling like I am ready to join the British Royal Family! I would highly recommend for the Kentucky Derby, Party in the Park, or any other party/event where you want to feel special.
Matt Fitz: I walk by Marie's window everyday as I work around the corner. I decided to stop in a couple of weeks ago as I know my partner would love one of her headbands and Mother's Day is just around the corner. Marie is wonderfully welcoming and eccentric. Her shop is full of beautiful pieces (the kind you see in movies, horse races and royal weddings) and she took the time to ask about my girlfriends style and created a beautiful, original headband that I know she is going to love.
Mareshia Donald: I've had the pleasure of being a Marie Galvin Fine Millinery client for more than 15 years. Marie has always had something to adorn me for every age and stage of my life. Her imagination spans generations. From weddings, to baby's first birthday, to graduation and everything in between, she's provided the finest bespoke millinery anyone could ask for. Her customer service is impeccable and her patience is peerless. She is truly committed to each and every client leaving her boutique as their most confident selves. Marie is a treasure and Boston is lucky to have her.
Ketly Michel: It is a joy to work with Marie. I started wearing the braid headbands at the beginning of the pandemic. I am still wearing them and getting a lot of compliments in NYC. They are very comfortable to wear, good quality . I am now addicted to her products.Marie you have a big fan in Newyork!
Leah Grace Gilbert: I have been a client of Marie's for years, purchasing my first fascinator at the Boston Ahts fest way back when (2010, perhaps?). She is always such a delight, and when I got married one of my first stops was to her for a piece to wear for that day. She outfitted both my mother and now MIL, and her pieces really pulled everything together. I have since moved to SF but Marie is so kind to send me beautiful turbands and hats. If you don't already have one of her pieces, I don't know what you're waiting for. Marie's creations will complete your outfit, and will last you years to come.
Rachel Harley: Marie's studio is truly a Boston gem on so many levels: customer service, the craftsmanship and beauty of the hats, and the masks she pivoted towards making in this pandemic are beautiful and so well made (no fogging!). I first learned of Marie's studio when I fulfilled a bucket list item and went to the Kentucky Derby. My friends and I went to Marie and she worked with us on designing the perfect hats to go with our outfits - we brought our dresses to the shop and it was a consultation from head to toe. I ended up with 2 beautiful hats and fascinators (derby and oaks) that were so comfortable to wear all day/night, and just gorgeous - I received so many compliments from friends. I have to say that Marie was just so easy to work with, and it really was just a FUN experience to buy the hats (back in the days we could all congregate together). Then once the pandemic started, I saw Marie posting that she was making masks, and I contacted her through Instagram, and immediately heard responses on how to pick one up. I ended up with probably 10 in total between me and friends, all different truly unique and beautiful fabrics. They are so well made with a pocket for a filter and the nose guard to prevent glasses fog. Living in the city I have a large collection of masks (sigh), but Marie's are no question the most beautiful out of the bunch. So I urge anyone looking for headwear (hats, headbands, fascinators) to visit Marie’s shop and online pages - and once we are allowed to attend events again and dress up, I will definitely be visiting Marie :)
Jennifer Yukimura: I've been a longtime fan of Marie's beautiful hats for years and I only have positive things to say about her work. Her pieces are well constructed and always perfectly comfortable. I am grateful that she has continued to created wonderful pieces to keep us feeling fashionable during a time of social distancing and mask wearing. Nothing like one of her gorgeous fascinators or headbands for a virtual celebration to help me feel more festive. And I love the masks that she's added to her line. Her masks are so comfortable, thoughtfully made (think less foggy glasses, etc.) and I always get compliments on them. Marie and her shop are really special and well worth checking out.
Chelsea Lepkowski: I absolutely love everything about Marie Galvin’s shop! I have an assortment of headbands and always come back wanting more. They have started to become a staple in my wardrobe and I look forward to building my collection. If you are looking for amazing customer service and stunning handmade accessories, Marie Galvin’s shop has got you covered.
Heather Foley: In addition to being one of the most talented milliners in the world, Marie is also incredibly warm and kind. She has helped me perfect many outfits by suggesting which of her works will look best, and also helped me by even suggesting jewelry, shoe, and bag options. Everyone should have at least one Marie Galvin piece in their wardrobe.
Kristal Cardone: Absolutely stunning creations, works of art! The hats, turbans/headbands and now masks are so beautiful. The fabrics are second to none, the shop has all the charms, and Marie is just a lovely person all around. A South End gem for sure - we are so lucky to have such talented people in this neighborhood!I love my green velvet turban & vintage tattoo mask! ♡
Natasha Hiney: Just shopped at Marie Galvin’s beautiful shop/studio today and felt compelled to share what a wonderful experience it was. A friend and I were hoping to get beautiful pieces for a wedding in London and Marie had so many to choose from. She was very kind and friendly - and you can tell she loves what she does and it shows - her pieces are wonderful, enough to make me want to wear a hat much more often. Thanks again for a lovely experience!
Bill G: Marie Galvin is an amazing and talented milliner with incredible skills. Her designs are so artistic and one of a kind. My wife is a longtime fan of Galvinized HEADWEAR and when she wears her designs she gets tons of compliments. It always makes me smile to see her feel so confident and beautiful. This past May, she had a last minute invite to an event that required a fabulous hat. Marie custom made a hat last minute and worked well into the night to insure delivery of a most amazing hat. It quite literally was the most admired hat at the event. Can't thank you enough Marie Galvin for your stunning creations and how they make the Mrs feel. Galvinized Headwear is a Boston gem.
Megan S: I am a frequent client at GALVIN-ized Headwear as I attend many horse racing events, garden parties and weddings. Kentucky Derby and the Galway races are my top two favorite events to attend. Marie's work commands so many compliments from both men and women attendees. Not alone does Marie Galvin design and handcraft each hat and fascinator with incredible attention to details, she also helps style ladies from head to toe. Her fashion advice on what to wear with her designs is always spot on. Not alone are her designs outstanding, her customer service skills are top notch. Both charming and honest, Marie never tries to sell me her most expensive hat, but the one that she feels is perfect for me and the occasion. Her beautiful boutique in the South End is worth a visit. A must see filled with must haves.
Shellie D.: Marie Galvin makes the most incredible pieces. Shopping with her is an experience like shopping use to be. She helps pick out pieces for your coloring, face structure and shows how to correctly place the piece, with a tilt, where to tilt etc. It is a one on one experience that is difficult to come by in todays shopping. I personally own approx. 20 of her pieces and love every one. I have paid a lot of money at high end stores for hats where you get the hat dropped in a bag and the salespeople are virtually no help. I have never had a problem contacting Marie but I also know that she has been invited to be part of some wonderful events like the Peabody Essex Museum, curated by Stephen Jones. When these things come up because she isn't a shop pumping out run of the mill pieces once in a while she isn't available - otherwise she is chained to her worktable covered in feathers ;)
Jess E: Last year I bought three pieces from Galvin-ized Headware and absolutely love them; my experience in-store was pleasant. I received numerous compliments and thoroughly enjoyed wearing them. A few months later I called/emailed the store to purchase more headpieces for events - I'm out of state - and not once did anyone contact me. After repeated attempts I finally gave up, which was maddening because of the money and press I directly and indirectly gave this store. I now use other milliners because 1.) it's impossible place an order and 2.) the business is incredibly unprofessional.
Lara No: There are amazing and beautiful hats here. If you are interested in very well-made things to put on your head you should definitely check it out.
