Nicholas Cola: Absolutely horrible experience. They yelled at us for being there 5 minutes after the event ended. One of the individuals, Tom Smith (most likely not his real name) was incredibly rude and verbally accosted us for my girlfriend needing two minutes to put her high heels on before leaving. Could not recommend this place less, atrocious customer service. And this was after over $70k was spent on the event.

Kayla Boamah: Please do not contact Kathleen or this establishment in regards to planning an event here. I have never been treated so disrespectfully on the phone for inquiring about a gig. I called Kathleen today in regards to a gig and I had no idea that it was in the past. I told her about my background and that she could keep my name on file and she laughed and said, “No, I’m good, thanks,” and hung up immediately. I’m fine with being told no but, her attitude and her condescending tone is what annoyed me. She lacks sensitivity training. If you’re smart, don’t plan anything with this establishment.

From the moment you walk in, the breathtaking views of the city and the elegant decor set the tone for a truly magical day.The venue's spacious floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample opportunities for stunning photo ops. The natural light that floods the room is just perfect for capturing those intimate moments between the bride and groom, and the high ceilings allow me to get creative with my angles and shots.The staff at The State Room Boston is exceptional and always goes above and beyond to ensure that everything runs smoothly. They are always on hand to answer any questions or concerns, and their attention to detail is unmatched. Ashley Makredes: We had our wedding at the State Room in Boston and it was everything I dreamed of AND MORE! Everything from the venue, to the food, to the employees, and everything in between was perfect. Our initial meetings were with Alicia. She helped us pick what was best for us and what we truly wanted. We were then assigned our event specialist, Jenna Scali, who was also amazing! Both girls answered any emails I sent almost immediately and were always so helpful. The night of the wedding, everything ran so smooth. The staff who met us outside to bring us in and all throughout the night who were close by, were just so helpful and kind. I am so glad we chose this venue and would again in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone who made our wedding a dream!

Maddie Maddern: I literally had dreams about getting married here one day, and I got to do just that on August 13, 2022. This is the most stunning wedding venue in the entire city, nobody can convince me otherwise. It looks gorgeous in photos, but you literally can't imagine how breathtaking it is in person.If the views aren't enough, their events team is next level (particularly Amber). Now bear with me through this part, because there's a reason we're still giving State Room 5 stars (spoiler alert, it's our amazing wedding goddess Amber).We had a bit of a rocky start after we signed the contract (nothing to do with Amber). We signed the contract in May and then backed off for a bit since our wedding was over a year away. Around October, we were speaking with our florist, and he asked if we knew Carolyn (our former wedding specialist) had left. We didn't and nobody from the venue ever reached out to let us know. I immediately emailed both our contacts there and both people whose emails I had were disconnected and had no email forwarding set up or any message directing me to another contact. I called the venue 3 or 4 times before finally speaking with someone and they let me know both people had left and they'd let me know when we had someone new. I was now trying to plan a wedding (at a not-so-inexpensive venue) with no wedding coordinator.Cue Amber! A literal angel who just made every wedding dream come true. This really should be a 4-star review, but Amber is so insanely amazing that she leaves me no choice but to make this 5 stars because anything less wouldn't be a fair testament to her. I am the most Type A a person can be and Amber answered every email, call, and panicked carrier pigeon I sent her way. She went above and beyond when we had issues with other vendors or needed last-minute changes that probably weren't even on her to help with.100% would recommend booking the State Room for your wedding (even despite the challenges) because the staff really is in another league.Thank you for everything, Amber!!
Essentially Erynne: This venue is just absolute perfection & our coordinator Amber was a dream come true. She went above & beyond to make our day amazing; when things weren’t done to her standards or what she thinks I would want, she worked quickly to fix them, never needing to let me know there was even an issue to begin with so I could just focus on the day. Our food was AMAZING, the bar staff was fantastic, & the space was to die for. We will never be able to thank Amber or State Room/Longwood Venues for helping to make our day so memorable!
Kaye Homam: The venue is beautiful and the service is fantastic. Parking is decently priced and the 2 floor venue works really well. The views are absolutely gorgeous. Day and night. The food was a little bland, but I am told that was because of the planner's food options.

Samantha Riley: We knew the State Room had to be our wedding venue the moment we walked in. It has breathtaking views, it is modernly designed, and truly a beautiful space. Additionally, once we started contracting with them, they made it all so easy! They even helped us source special Prosecco for our event. They were also extremely accommodating when we decided to postpone from February 2021 to 2022. We had Amber assisting us leading up to the event and throughout our wedding day. She was responsive, helpful, and truly an expert in her field. We were in great hands with Amber on our special day and everything went off without a hitch! We are so grateful to the State Room and their staff for making our wedding day perfect.

Nicole Chan: I LOVE the Boston State Room as a Boston wedding venue.I'm writing this review from a different angle. I didn't get married here, but I'm been here over 50 times for weddings. I'm a Boston wedding photographer, and I have the insider view on what weddings are like. The team here is top notch. They are professional, kind, and courteous. You won't go wrong with a wedding here. :)The coolest thing about it are of course, those panoramic views from up high while still being able to be in downtown city life! It’s remarkable what they offer here- so much detail and care has been put into this space that you can really see how much thought went into creating such an incredible place for your big day or special event.

Stephen Whiting: What a unique venue in an unassuming place. It's right in the heart of Brookline next to a park, but when you step inside you just have to let out an audible, "WOW". As a wedding photographer I love photographing here. They have recently given Alden a refresh and it's even more stunning now. First of all, it's a Longwood Venue so of course you'll be treated so well by the amazing staff, and the food will have your guests talking for days after. There's just no other venue like this around Boston, definitely one of my favorites!

Rachel Hancock: My husband and I had our reception here a year and half ago and they decided to do a dramatic decor change after I signed the contract. I found out only a couple months before my wedding and had to follow through with it, I was livid. They decided to white wash and paint all the original stained wood, and that put a bunch of obnoxious carpets and wallpaper on the floor and walls. The food was ok but nothing special, the house cake is gross and I ended up getting my own wedding cake. Parking is a nightmare and the staff, especially Courtney and Amanda are wicked fake and condescending. I would definitely seek out other venues!!

Emanuel Cole: We had a wonderful experience with the Alden Castle: A Longwood Venue team. We do not live in California but we wanted to get married there so we booked everything remotely. That kind of situation can be anxiety inducing but the Alden Castle team put me at ease. We booked the Romantic special that included the marriage license, officiant and photographers at a remote location. We arrived in L.A. the morning before the ceremony to fill out the license paperwork. We got married at a friend's house in the valley. The next day the officiant and photographers were on time and very professional. The resulting pictures were fantastic. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend this service.

Brooke Baumgartner: After booking most of our vendors myself, I realized I would need assistance in planning the remaining details and coordinating everyone involved with my wedding. I reached out to Paula and was immediately excited to work with her! Both her and Lisa were warm, reassuring, and professional the entire lead up to the wedding - I felt that I was truly in good hands! They both had so many ideas on how to make our wedding personal and special and totally understood my design vision. I also appreciated how they always made sure we were getting our best value from our venue and vendors and spending our money where it counted. On the wedding day, both Paula and Lisa were there for us coordinating all of the vendors, setting up our gorgeous reception room, and solving last minute challenges. I am beyond thankful that I found the Marrero events team and do not know what I would have done without them! I would happily recommend Marrero events to anyone I know getting married in the Boston area!
John Barr: Paula and her team did superb job throughout the process. We decided to hold the event at our home. She walked us through the process upfront including the pros and cons. She presented experienced, professional vendors for my wife and daughter to select. She made multiple visits to our home, as needed, and throughout the process. She told us that it was her prime objective to make sure we did not have to worry about any detail on the day of the wedding. She was true to her word. She earned the ultimate seal of approval from my daughter, the bride, when at the end of the evening she remarked to me “best day of my life”. For a Dad, the best thing one can hear, and due in no small part, to the incredibly hard work of Paula and her team.

Paula, Alison, and Lisa were all incredibly professional and knew how to make things happen - in the smartest and most cost effective ways - but also were just plain fun to plan with. Our original date was in October 2020, which obviously wasn't feasible. She helped guide us through the tumult of changing our date, rebooking our vendors, and managing the guest list, among the many, many other things that go along with rescheduling a wedding. Paula was always available as soon as we needed anything. She is exceptionally organized and professional, and is one of the warmest, kindest humans you will ever meet. Our entire wedding party and both families all fell in love with her. She also has amazing vendor recommendations and connections, so you won't go wrong with any of her suggestions. Simply put, Paula is the best and will make planning your wedding as stress-free as possible and a truly great experience.

There are so many good things about our experience working with Paula and Alison to possibly be able to enumerate here. Ever since our initial consultation, Paula understood us and our personalities perfectly, and tailored their service to our needs. They handled all of the nitty gritty stuff that we didn't need to know, but gave us full creative control over all the big picture decisions. And in some cases when they could tell we were struggling to make decisions, they helped exactly the right amount to guide us to a decision we were happy about and confident in.On the day of, the event ran far more smoothly than we could even imagine possible. Due to rain, we unfortunately had to make the decision on the morning of to move the ceremony indoors. Alison made this transition perfectly seamlessly, getting the chairs and DJ and officiant and live streaming and all of our guests all ready indoors; we didn't have to lift a finger. And you would've thought we had been planning this beautiful indoor ceremony for months! It was also unexpectedly cold for a late spring day in Boston, and all of our female guests in dresses would have been freezing, if not for the Marrero Events team driving around town on the morning of to buy thick blankets for all of our guests.Both in planning and in day-of coordination, Paula and Alison made our wedding day everything we wanted it to be and more. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with their service, and we would 100% recommend them to all couples!

Kerry Patriarca: Booking Marrero Events for our wedding was hands down the best vendor decision we made in the entire wedding planning process.  I was originally convinced I didn’t need a wedding planner or day-of coordination, but as the final month of planning approached, I was overwhelmed managing all the details of planning a wedding from across the country.  Paula, Nathan, and Isabelle were life savers and truly amazing to work with.  From our very first conversation with Paula, we knew we had made the right decision as she immediately put us at ease.  From identifying a few final vendors who were perfect and in our budget, to vendor coordination, to all the planning and organization in the final weeks, to helping us manage thru the craziness on the day of, Paula and her team are consummate professionals and so good at what they do.On the actual day of our wedding, I don't know what we would have done without the Marrero Events team.  It was raining off and on, putting my dream outdoor wedding plans in jeopardy.  Nathan, who was onsite with us all day, was incredibly flexible and patient with me, keeping me calm while I was stressing over the changing forecast and working to ensure we put all the backup plans into motion.  We moved the wedding inside, and then when the rain stopped at the last minute and I had a change of heart, he helped me move the ceremony back outside.  We ended up having the most memorable and wonderful ceremony (albeit a little wet!) which was better than anything we could have imagined. They truly went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect day.Marrero Events was worth every penny and then some -- I cannot recommend them strongly enough!

As the Mother of the Bride of an only daughter, I wanted to enjoy every moment of the wedding day and not spend it managing vendors and all the details. Paula and her team were instrumental in ensuring that everything was as near perfect as possible! Paula is lovely to work with as she listens before offering her sage advice and then will look for the solution until the issue is resolved. Paula’s relationships with vendors is stellar and she is able to navigate through situations with the greatest of ease! The wedding celebration was simply divine and our guests and most importantly, the bride and groom, enjoyed themselves thoroughly! We are still talking about it a month later! Linda Pham: If you’re even considering a wedding planner, look no further! Words cannot even describe Paula and her team. The level of professionalism they exemplify is rare and I am so sad to have ended our planning process because I enjoyed it so much (Not many people can say that). Not only did Paula and her team make the process SO easy but by my wedding week, everyone was truly concerned that I wasn’t stressed out. Why be stressed when you have complete confidence that your wedding planner will execute your vision perfectly. Paula was the very best support, inner voice and guide throughout this special, yet potentially overwhelming process. The moment we first spoke on the phone two years ago, I knew we were going to work well together as she is a very knowledgeable, confident and a genuinely caring person. Paula and her team worked endlessly to make sure everything goes smoothly and because they are so organized; we always talk about plan As and plan Bs to plan ahead for things. FINALLY, what other wedding planner is willing to corset two white wedding dresses in 5 minutes and help with 4 total outfit changes in 1 day. I need not say more…you will not be disappointed with Marrero Events, I have truly gained a friend throughout the process and am so happy with the outcome so I am confident you will be as well. Christine Lee Kim: Hands down the best hotel in the back bay! The mandarin oriental Boston is my home whenever I am in Boston. Love that it is located right in the heart of back bay, walking distance to all the good shopping, perched on top of the Prudential Centre. The newly renovated rooms make for a better lit and ethereal environment. The daily complimentary hot chocolate with fixin’s and beignets were an extra treat. Look forward to my next stay!
Anthony R: Along with the Four Seasons Back Bay, this Mandarin Oriental is our favorite place to stay while visiting Boston. You absolutely can't beat this hotel's location. It is situated right in the heart of everything that is the best of Boston. The rooms, service, and decor of this property is top notch as well. Best of all, they treated our dog Bella like a princess during our visit! We will definitely return and would highly recommend this property, especially if your pet is tagging along!

Erin C: Meh and you will starve. Only option for room service is to call operator at front desk. Then, they lose your order and you wait hours for food. Menu not great and WAY behind times with no allergy free options. Cool when it opened muh-may-b but it’s a has been. Starve like your in jail. Woooohooo

Riley Blizard: I have stayed here at the Liberty Hotel several times. The most recent but terrible experience happened to be a long stay. The day we checked in the front desk personnel notified us that we were upgraded to a suite because of our titanium elite status. Well the room was on the main level over the loading dock area that was very loud. The main issue was that the toilet would start bubbling up whatever the rooms above us were putting down there shower or bathtub or toilet drains. One day we woke up after contacting the front desk that the toilet was bubbling up and yellowish colored suds were developing and pouring on to the bathroom floor. They came and fixed the toilet and told me not to worry it wouldn’t happen again. Well less than 12 hours later, that night the same issue but this time even worse there was so much water and other disgusting unsanitary matter on the floor I asked them to come again for the fourth time on day 3 of my stay. This time I was notified by a maintenance staff member that this had been a known issue for this room recently and that he even was surprised they put anyone in the room. I demanded the front desk to change rooms. I was denied as they said the hotel was at full occupancy. I asked for them to make accommodations for me else where and yet again I was still denied. They told me it was their busiest night. There firm Many hours later still no resolution other than the maintenance person being in my room trying to snake the toilet for 2-3 hours straight being in the room until just past 11:00 PM trying different things. He thought he had fixed it. I had asked the front desk to have all new towels brought and for someone to clean the floor as I it smelt from the overflow and I felt was unsanitary. They said they sent someone but I clearly could tell no one had come other than the new towels but the used ones were still there. The very next morning the same issue at 7:00 AM. I finally couldn’t handle it anymore. I went to the front desk and spoke with a different manager that next morning. He stated he could switch rooms for me and it wouldn’t be an issue. He said to give him until 11:00 AM to switch the room and I asked that he make note of this on my file as I have pictures along with videos of what took place. He stated he was sorry and that the manager the previous night could’ve moved me to another room but chose not too. This was beyond appalling and disgusting. I was really disappointed by the front desk staff especially the manager the night I originally asked for an new room. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. The unsanitary part was beyond what anyone should have to deal with for a such an expensive hotel.The Room was very unsanitary and disgusting. Especially because of the backups happening from the rooms above us through our toilet.Safety: The unsanitary situation wasn’t safe!

Doug Dillmuth: It's an old jail converted to a hotel. Super cool building. Really good food and hotel bar. So we were there for the purpose of the Boston marathon. For 99% of the rooms, this would not be an issue. Apparently on Saturday night, the hotel bar turns into a full club. This was an issue because our room was on the interior lobby wall. The room literally shook until 2 AM and the bathroom mirror was vibrating and almost fell off the wall from the bass and the music. Could not sleep at all. They gave us half off the room for the night for the inconvenience which was fair. They didn't do the lobby club thing on Sunday night. Room was nice. Linens and towels were changed every day and bed made and a lot of places don't do that anymore. Towels were Holiday Inn quality, not luxury quality. The televisions aren't smart TVs which is surprising so not Netflix access so bring a roku or firestick. The in room snacks and drinks are not priced to sell. They are priced so you wouldn't dare open a beer. $10 M&M's, $7 can of Coke, $9 Michelob Ultra? Who's buying that? You could get a craft beer and a nearby bar for far less. Great location. Clean room.

Ms Berries: The restaurants were 5-star (Scampo and Clink). The food was delicious as were the food and drinks in the hotel lobby. The rooms were a teeny bit old but were cleaned so very well. But my main reason for the 5-star rating is THE STAFF. Every employee from the valets, to the wait staff at the restaurants and lobby, to the front desk, to housekeeping were AMAZING. Every last one of the employees was genuinely friendly and helpful. They were engaging and so very kind. We never once had to chase anyone down. They were all so attentive and absolutely PERFECT. Never in all my travels have I ever encountered a hotel staff that was so world class in terms of personality, skill, professionalism, and friendliness. We asked for extra sets of bath towels and they were at our door in 5 minutes. The wait staff at one point had 4 servers for us who kept checking on us, and they were so much fun. Blown away. We'll definitely be going back. Ruben Escano Jr: My stay at The Liberty was fantastic. I took a weekend trip to Boston in January.The hotel was unique, eye-catching, and all-around an enjoyable stay. The room and decor were amazing, and the view was top notch. Everything was clean and housekeeping was amazing. I really pay attention to the overall quality of the room in hotels where i go: baseboards were straight, door jambs were perfect, grout was clean in the bathroom, lighting was perfect (except for one reading light that was out on the bed frame, but i did not care much for that), and the furniture seemed new.Room service was perfect (had it two nights in a row).The main lobby serves as a lounge on weekends. I think this was rather neat, but overall not really my scene. The noise did not reach the room, which i greatly appreciated.I only had two complaints about The Liberty:The host at check in seemed more interested in the live lounge than in checking me in.The lounge made getting in/out/around the first floor a pain. The floor was overcrowded and it ruined the ambiance of the hotel for me. But others really seemed to enjoy it.I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area, and i will definitely be returning. I would give the hotel a 4.5/5. If you like a lounge/night club within a few feet of your room out of convenience, then i would definitely rate this a 5/5 for you (seriously the rooms seemed soundproof).
