Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi: what do users think?
Javier Neyra: I have been a member for a few months now and I have found great benefit from this practice. I had never tried anything like this in the past and i definitely found myself stepping out of my comfort zone through out these months, which was a challenge, but I always knew it was something I needed to do to have a more complete life. I was able to do so in a welcoming and non judging environment and I have since notice changes in how approach challenges in my everyday life. There is a great sense of community and support and I have experience the instructors there going the extra mile for me when I needed it several times. I have had a great personal experience 👍
Rosalie Parr: Body & Brain is unlike any other studios I’ve practiced at. The instructors are amazing! They’re really invested in your well-being and fully support you on your health and wellness journey. Some classes are more physically challenging than others which is nice depending on what you need at that time, and they conveniently offer both in-person & online classes. I always leave class feeling better mentally and physically. I’ve learned so much since practicing at B&B and it continues to have a very positive impact on my daily life- very grateful to have stumbled upon their studio!
Rachel Holoff: I have been met with a tremendous amount of care and sincerity at Body and Brain (Brookline location specifically). I walked in not knowing what to expect and have since learned practical skills for creating and tuning into the feeling of groundedness in my body and cultivating self love. It has been both educational and practical, and the teachers are genuinely invested in your journey. In my experience they have gone above and beyond. If you are looking for alternative ways to address mental health, this could be an extremely beneficial and refreshing addition to your toolkit. It's also the first and so far only place where I have learned about the chakras from a practical standpoint which is pretty exciting! I will say that I sometimes don't feel that the yoga aspect quite cuts it as a physical practice - for this reason it doesn't necessarily replace other yoga classes, but at the same time it also gives you something much much more than other yoga classes.
rocio alvarez: A mi hijo le encanta este lugar
Hunter Pattershall: Brain and Body has been such a positive influence on my life since starting a few months ago. While recovering from a concussion I needed a low impact way to exercise which these classes fit perfectly. More importantly than the physical exercises though, have been the mental exercises. The training and support to dig deep into your purpose and desires has been incredible. I started making the moves I needed in my life to get where I want to go.
David Yampolsky: My experience at Body & Brain has been nothing short of spectacular. This is a type of yoga that encourages compassion and truly learning to love oneself. This yoga is for you if you want to work on getting in touch with your body, your emotions, even your traumas, and consequently manifest true healing. I just started a few months ago and slowly but surely I am beginning to genuinely understand the process of healing.
liah117: This place is amazing, such a strong sense of community and kindness both from the masters and the people attending classes. The amazing teachers are very attentive and supportive, always checking in and making sure your journey is going well.I was looking for a place to heal my body and my mind and I definitely found it in Body&Brain. Thank you 🙏
Andrea Swain: Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi has awakened my soul and uplifted my spirit. Master Cho, Courtney and all the instructors are true healers. Amazing place to tap into your inner self!
Sue Brodeur: While I have never actually been to a studio (pandemic), I have taken multiple workshops and classes since 2/2021. Not your typical yoga, but a very good way to connect your mind with your body and shut out the noise. I have learned that when you give yourself up to the universe, the universe gives back to you. And this concept keeps appearing in almost every book I read (and I read A LOT). As weird as it may sound, I highly recommend belly button button healing as well. It really grounds me and gives me a sense of well being. Tai Chi with Courtney is awesome! Your breath flows and the movements flow (not to mention that you close your exercise rings more than once). It leaves you feeling energized for the rest of the day. I definitely have found this practice to have a positive impact on my life. You may need to give time to all come together, but when it does, it’s amazing.
Carol Piñeiro: Wonderful center to attend classes, either online or in-person. Class leaders are very well prepared and adjust classes according to the ability of attendees. Physical exercise helps with strength and flexibility and relaxation techniques help alter stress and mood. All of this makes B&B a comfortable center for people of different ages and stages of fitness.
Nancy: I love the teachers at this center, very dedicated and skilled. The practice itself has helped me with anxiety and lowering my blood pressure. It has also increased my joy. I highly recommend this!
Isabela Mantilla Silverman: I came to Body and Brain at a time where lots of changes were happening in my life and I was suffering from anxiety. In the short months I've been taking classes here, I feel more centered, relaxed and at ease. I now try to take 3 classes a week and meditate daily and miss it when I miss a class. My life has taken a turn for the better because I have become more mindful in my thoughts and actions. I feel a profound difference in myself.
Kat Tatlock: I started attending zoom classes for Tai Chi with Master Courtney and Qigong with Master Dahari after experiencing a scary heart condition that was partly caused by intense stress. From my very first session, I knew I was in the right place, not only for stress reduction, but for the art of breathing, stretching, strengthening, balance and increased energy. And for the joy of learning and practicing the Tai Chi form itself. My many chats with their coordinator, as well as masterful instructor, Meghan, have also been enlightening, encouraging, calming and healing. All of my questions and needs have been resolved with focus on my particular situation, increasing arthritis, and age - 82 - with caring, love and humor. I can't recommend this resource enough.
Quinn: Hello! There are no words in any dictionary of any language which can paint the picture that is "Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi". That will not, however, stop me from sharing my experience thus far with the program. I am a recent college grad, working remotely for the city of NY from my home desk, and before this community, I was lost. My heart and mind were at constant warfare, leaving my soul in the middle without shelter from the bombarding thoughts and feelings, which controlled my day. To keep me preoccupied, on my lunch breaks, I would incorporate small, simple bodyweight exercises for the home. This became a daily routine to keep myself active and dedicated, however, something was missing. My mind and body were not one. There was no conversation happening within myself, and I was becoming frustrated with my progress. Then, like a guardian angel, my brother Steven suggested this "yoga" program he was a part of. I was skeptical at first, but after a Dahn Jon tapping session with him, I felt my heart sink into peace and my mind stretch its wings. After a friendly, welcoming, and heartwarming introduction with Master Meghan and Master Courtney, I was ready to make the investment in myself and join the Body & Brain community. The plethora of classes throughout the day and week make the commitment malleable to your schedule, which during the recent rampant remoteness, helps us all feel a little more connected. Through this class, I have found not only a brain and body connection, but thanks to our candid sharing sessions, I have found my voice. The exercises are never complicated and focus more on good form and good breathing, rather than simply doing a movement as quickly as possible. The Masters are all amazing people from around the world, all with the same passion to guide this community. That being said, the Masters are open to learning from us as much as they can teach us; it truly feels like a meaningful relationship rather than just a pupil/teacher dynamic. There are fantastic workshops on top of the classes almost weekly with different focuses and themes (e.g. the Earth Day stream with David was magical!). Lastly, the Masters are happy and excited to host one-on-ones to help members reach their personal goals, perform some individual training, and check-in holistically for the entire person's wellbeing. In conclusion, I do not know where I would be today without this program, this community, and those that dedicate every day to Body & Brian, but I do not have to find out! Rather, I have found purpose, routine, friends, and myself. Thank you Body & Brain from this young man in New Jersey. Water Up, Fire Down!
Meghan Ormsby: I have been going to body&brain yoga for a couple months now and cannot recommend it enough! The most unique yoga practice I have been to. The practice combines body movement with both emotional and mental practice. This is such a special place that radiates positive energy, I always walk out feeling refreshed and grounded. If you’re thinking about coming here, please do! 3 it will improve your quality of life
Romy St. Hilaire: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityBody and Brain yoga at the Brookline location is amazing! I’m so happy with the experience and a really special group of instructors and members. Great vibes overall!
Giancarlo Lobo: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Brian Twitchell: Staff are really passionate about sharing their practices with students. Material integates a lot of mindfulness and meditation principles into a variety of classes with different levels of movement. They also organize diverse workshops and activities like hiking in New Hampshire for young adults. In these pandemic times they have stepped up, offering both online and, where allowed, in person class.
Jayaditya Neogi: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityB & B yoga is a incredible place where one can journey through a course of self healing, connect back to oneself and gain a deeper insight into the practice of traditional yoga. I personally have a refreshing and invigorating experience practicing weekly here after a frenetic and exhaustive work life.
Gerry Lake: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityWhen I first joined Body & Brain over 2 years ago, I had no experience with yoga. I have learned a lot from the knowledgeable instructors. Every class is a fun and safe workout. Afterwards, your daily stress disappears. The other benefits include mindfulness, clarity and confidence.Gerry
Blanka Dost: Two sudden events caused me to join BnB online-training: the world-wide pandemic lockdown and my own cancer diagnosis. How was I supposed to follow the doctors’ recommendations to exercise my body powerfully during chemotherapy (to minimize side-effects) in times of closed gyms and yoga studios? It was my 28-year old daughter who had been going to the center before the shutdown. She encouraged me to join her online-training. So I began to participate and I understood and felt very quickly the physical and mental impact of the classes. It was demanding, stimulating, and equally relaxing, calming, soothing. My goal was to maintain my flexibility, mobility, and balance of my body. But now I see that I reached these goals not only in a physical but also in a mental way. My condition is better than before, my muscles are strong, I won the control over my body and the trust in my mind. With the help of the sensitive and empathic trainers, classes always brighten my mood, I sleep better, and I am beginning to balance body and mind. They promote imagination in my brain and sore muscles in my body – in a good way. We are collecting and spreading mental energy for ourselves in every exercise. It is such fun! There are so many classes to choose from, and you don’t even have to leave the house! And if you turn off the video, you don’t even need to worry about your hairstyle. Two months ago I completed my medical treatments successfully and I came out of this time stronger than before. I am so very grateful to my daughter and all Masters of Body and Brain. Go on like this, it’s great!

Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi: what do users think?
Paula Malady: I have been going to B&B in Cambridge for six months. I didn't know what to expect but just tried to be open. To my surprise,, i have really enjoyed each step. Practically, I am experiencing subtle but profound changes. One major change is that I have been experiencing uninterrupted sleep for the first time in more than two years. This is not a small thing for me. B&B teachers have been supportive and kind. I cannot say enough about this great resource for those interested in looking deeper into yourself.
Miriam Lopatin: I love the classes and the remarkable benefits to my balance and stress relief! This is why I keep coming for more than 4 years!Thank you for respecting COVID regulation and minimizing potential COVID spread by holding very small in person and online classes!Thank you so very much!!!ML
Martha Kahn: Since I started at Body and Yoga doing Tai Chi and Yoga I sleep a lot better, my back pain is getting well and my mind is more calm.
sandra abbott: The B&B facility in Cambridge MA is beautiful, spacious and light. The staff is caring and supportive; youre treated as a person, not a customer. They also give you a lot of personal attention. There are two 'Healing Rooms' and two bathrooms for a quick wardrobe change if needed. I didnt even know that it was a healing center, with a holistic approach, when I first signed up.More and more people are returning "post covid" (post covid we hope), creating a greater sense of energy and community. The workshops they provide are interesting and helpful. Pre covid there were in person visits from Masters from around the country and the world. There is a morning class Mon-Sat if you can make it to an Arlington class 2 of those mornings. Evening classes are held on 4 nights, plus 5 classes late morning thru late afternoon. They recently added online classes for when you cant make it in person. Zoom live classes are also popular. Both centers are on Mass Ave and are serviced by the 77 bus, one of the more reliable routes. It goes from Harvard Square to Arlington Heights.I am hopeful that as more people join us, even more classes will be offered!
David Smyth: I am so glad I happened to find this place. They teach a really unique set of physical and mental practices (blend of tai chi, yoga, core strength, and more) that gave huge improvements to my health and mood in a matter of months. After PT, shockwave therapy, and surgery all failed to help with chronic ankle tendonitis, these practices got me moving again. The instructors are amazing and care deeply about each person who walks through the door. They have a very specific and unusual (at least to me) set of ideas about gut health, energy, etc. that may be a turn off for some. But I would recommend keeping an open mind. The overall emphasis is on using these ideas to enhance self-awareness (i.e. your sense of what you are feeling in your own body), and for this purpose I have found them interesting and rather useful.
Caroline Schiavoni: Felt like a lot of pseudo-science about wellness and being physically/mentally “healthy.” I was told that depression exists in the gut and their program could essentially cure it. I had a one-on-one initial class and it felt very strange. During the class I was put into a very uncomfortable position by one woman while being told to relax and my energy would be released - I didn’t really feel like I had a choice in her physically adjusting me or touching me. The stretching was nice, but the mood felt off like I was being recruited for something. Looked up “Brain Education” and found out it has been called a cult and there’s been a lot of sus stuff in the business. I had a weird experience and just wanted to let others know
Holly Ransom: The team at Body & Brain (Cambridge as well as the other Boston centers) are absolutely amazing! They are highly trained and each instructor, while maintaining their own unique approach, provides wonderful consistency of practice. They are all kind and caring, and make you feel seen & heard. If you're considering joining know that the practice is SO relaxing, but does require patience and commitment. I am very happy with my experience here, and feel much more able to reach a state of calm when I am feeling anxious. Body & Brain helps you gain more autonomy over your emotional, physical and spiritual health, I would highly recommend!
Sandy Bodner: I was looking for a personalized exercise experience that was different from the weight training gyms I had joined in the past. I realized I lucked out after I signed up for an introductory session with Mary Jo. I really enjoyed it and signed on to a one-month program that allows me to try all the classes, and am continuing to attend Mary Jo's. She's an excellent instructor. It's a lovely place and conveniently located just beyond Porter Square.
Sonoko Madeleine Otani Oldman: I had a great experience in class today. It was just the right combination of stretching, meditation and core strengthening. I released a lot of stress and felt renewed energy at the end of the session. I look forward to returning!Since the center temporarily closed due to COVID-19, I have been taking advantage of an array of classes Body and Brain offers on Zoom. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to experience a deeper connection to my body and brain daily and for the ability to manage stress with more awareness, flexibility, new breathing techniques and positive energy. The dedicated instructors are excellent and are always willing to offer individual guidance and support.
michal regunberg: I joined Body and Brain initially for the exercise, which is great. But it is so much more than that. It is a life practice that combines KiGong, TaiChi, yoga and stretching with a spiritual practice that allows you to tap into the connection between body and brain. It is life changing and life enhancing and the teachers are all wonderful! I highly recommend it.
Robin Watkins: I have been going to Body & Brain classes regularly for several years. I have stayed with this health/exercise program because the environment is warm and friendly, and I have seen a noticeable improvement in flexibility, balance, strength and energy. I especially enjoy Qigong and DahnMuDo classes for all of the benefits of moving meditation.
Undrella Holloman: I am so happy that I joined Body & Brain. All the instructors are great. The classes are wonderful and well taught. Every time I take a class I feel better, lighter and happier. Before I joined I could not sit cross leg, my legs would be in the air. Now my legs are lower, I can not wait for my legs to touch the floor. With practice I can do sleeping tiger with less breaks (Ah, shi-won-ha-da). I can do plate balancing without looking awkward. I love all the movements. Thank you Body & Brain, you have helped me through this pandemic. I wish I could stay home and take classes all day instead of looking for a job. Kam-sa-ham-ni-da
Yelena Lembersky: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI have been practicing for over 10 years. This place is excellent for physical health and mind-body connection.
Caitlyn Cawthron: The staff, classes, and workshops at Body & Brain in Cambridge have brought me so much inner peace. Not only are the staff warm and professional, but the facilities are clean and inviting. There's no better end to a stressful work day than practicing breathing and mindfulness. I've been able to manage my stress and sleep so much better since becoming a member.
Rohit Karnik: Very welcoming place where one can feel at home. The instructors are dedicated and highly skilled. I feel refreshed and at peace after every session.
debbie homola: Yeah! Great class Arthur! This class has helped me to spur on with the check in during the day especially, the kids as you know are demanding and act out.On that Tuesday, instead of controlling, I quieted my spirit and got into their world.Lastly, the Saturday morning class with Vladamere is so calming and penetrates deeply to the brain, bones, and spirit! His intonation is spot on! He is very slow and clear to speak throughout the process in directing us through each movement. Also, he gives additional ways to do a movement. His awareness for each students ability is enormously felt!Hope he can get this on Youtube! The world needs to hear and see it!
George Friedlander: Wonderful place, everyone is so welcoming and kind, and it is very very well designed minimalist layout perfect for relaxation.
Elan Riesman: I love this place, a sunny and peaceful oasis in the city. The students and teachers are most welcoming and have much to share. I am always glad when I go.
Mary Jo Sargent: I really like the way this type of yoga addresses my need to release stress and confusion. I always end up feeling refreshed, open and my mind clear and bright. Very grounding and a feeling of settling down. I love it.
Annie Gray: I've been practicing and also experiencing healing treatments at Body & Brain in Cambridge for over half a year and have found a different kind of peace and healing there. As a Yoga teacher and Life Coach, I already work with the mind and body, but this work has expanded it with energy work and a greater awareness of Soul. It can be a lovely experience, and one I bring into my work with my own clients.
Estalina Rodriguez: I came here for an adventure not knowing that I would find so much more. I learned how to control my emotions and make better decisions not coming from an emotional place. I found a way to feel more confident and know that I can choose happiness instead of feeling sad and worried about the past.

SWETSTUDIO®: what do users think?
nivya sharma: I went for my first class last weekend. It was absolutely magical and worked wonders for my body and mind alike. I was a bit nervous initially, thinking about transitioning from a yoga mat to the silk but the instructor made it a cakewalk for me. She was clear in her instructions, paid attention to individual person's posture and helped me multiple times in correcting my postures. I felt confident after the class, gonna take next class very soon. Highly recommended for someone willing to take Yoga experience to a higher level.
Gabrielle Mele-Algus: This is one of the most fun workouts!! I just started a month ago but make sure that I go at least 2-3 times a week. There is a huge range of classes and none have disappointed me. I love that you can vary what type of class you can take all while still being in the hammock! In addition, one thing I didn’t expect would be the confidence boost you also get every time you enter class and go in the hammock. I definitely recommend to all!!!
Julia Adler: Sil and Veronika are so supportive and encouraging which makes each class a pleasure. The one-on-one lessons were spot on and enabled me to transition right into the aerial pilates and yoga classes with ease. I'm hooked!
Montana Martin: ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE‼️The aerial yoga is different than just the typical yoga and I enjoy myself in every class I've attended. Doing the different stretches and flexes learning your body while hearing their soft voice guiding you is soo relaxing. Veronica is awesome (i wish i could pack her voice in my pocket lol) I can't wait to become a advanced flyer with her... You challenge yourself and free your mind all in one. MY GO TO SPOT ❣️ Can't wait for class with Asia today 🧘🏽‍♀️.
Anna Neufeld: Really fun class. Wonderful atmosphere. If you have never tried aerial yoga this is the place to do it. There intro special is really affordable.
Megan Blomberg: Amazing instructors and program! Coming out of a sedentary period throughout COVID and aerial yoga has been a perfect way to loosen up the body again and get my muscles moving! Highly recommended!
Nzingha Rawlins: I attended the Beginner’s Aerial class with Asia and it was AHMAZING!I felt so supported throughout the class. Asia is such a purposeful and spirited instructor. I was able to truly relax into the process, and let go of my fears of trying something brand new. Now, I’m back for another session. I think aerial yoga is my new thang :-)I HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone. Especially if you are working on being more courageous or more fearless ❤️
Kelly Mackey: I joined Swet a few months ago right before moving out of the neighborhood and only wish I had tried it sooner! I've continued going because of how much I like it. The environment is incredibly welcoming. The instructors are friendly and knowledgable. It is small enough that you start seeing familiar faces after a few visits and get individual attention and assistance when needed. I've primarily taken the row classes. They are well run, challenging, and the time flies. I've tried a few aerial yoga classes as well, which is brand new to me. The beginner classes are a great introduction. The instructors really make sure everyone is comfortable. I highly recommend trying it out!
Pernille Bülow: I have attended SWET studio's classes for the last year, and I think it's fair to say that I am close to addicted. I love the variety of the classes, and the instructors are fantastic. Do you want to relax and stretch, there is a class for you. Do you want high intensity cardio, there is a class for you. Do you want to build up your beach body with muscles you didn't know could inhabit your body, there is a class for you.
Andrew Brancato: This place is top notch. As a barber with lower back pain i always walk out of this place feeling brand new. Its always clean and you can really tell they take pride in what they do.
David K.: I went to the intro aerial class. Veronica was great! I plan on returning soon.
Nawal: I started at this studio about three weeks ago. I have scoliosis and thought it would be a great way to stretch my back and make it stronger. Initially it was a bit difficult for me as I wasn't used to the movements but now I'm amazed by what my body can do. In just five classes my hips have loosened up and I can finally do some of the more difficult movements. I believe that these classes have helped with my therapies as well by increasing flexibility and strengthening the muscles. I have no doubt that anyone looking for a fun way to workout will enjoy this studio but to find a place where you can alsofind solutions to bad posture, lack of flexibility or generally lack of upper body strength while still have fun is difficult. Thank you so much for helping me in my journey to better health!
Suzanne Bluejacket: I just started coming back to Swet after being away for a while because of the pandemic. The air quality and very high ceilings makes me feel very comfortable. It’s only been a few weeks and I already notice my posture has improved from years of working at my computer. I also have noticed that the tightness in my lower back and neck is better. Best of all, it is my favorite form of exercise. I look forward to the light stretch and fun of hanging upside down that makes me feel like I’m doing something good for my body. There’s also a mindfulness component that helps me rebalance and focus on myself so I can set personal goals to stay in balance. I’m definitely not flexible but I love how every level of fitness can take the classes. I drive 45 minutes each way and it’s so worth it. Thanks for being a great place and for the best instructors of any fitness minded center. Thanks so much, Suzanne
Racheal Adeoti: Their beginner class was so much fun. I’m hooked and would definitely go again. I recommend taking a stressed out friend :)
J S: SWET studio is the best. Fun, flexibility and strength all at the same time. It motivates me to work out more. Years of back pain disappeared.
Aasem Alhenaki (Dr. Aasem): Cute studio, friendly staff. I loved the aerial yoga, fresh and innovative movements. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Annapurna Modi: I tried the arial beginner and meditation restore. I was skeptical about the risk but when i tried i got to know it is guided and very well explained. Super fun and exciting. Can't wait to practice again.
Michelle Block: I would recommend aerial yoga at Swetstudio to anyone looking to try something new- if you’ve done yoga before, it adds a fun new dimension! At Swetstudio the staff is friendly and welcoming, safety protocols are followed (both covid and general), and the instructors are experienced and knowledgeable. I look forward to returning soon for another class!
Sacha Sergent: Having been to dozens of fitness studios in Boston, SWET remains my #1 favorite. Walking through the South End to get there is a joy, and being in the studio is an incredible experience each time. All of the instructors are professional and knowledgeable, and somehow still surprise you with each class. The variety of classes they offer also keeps you on your toes!Aerial hammocks provide a method of movement that is truly unique in the way it allows you to move your body. The silk allows you to access muscle groups you are mostly unable to access or at least unable to access in such depth that you walk out of each class feeling renewed and open.10/10 experiences at SWET, I highly highly recommend!
Phung Vuong: I love aerial yoga and SwetStudio exceed my expectations! The instructors are so kind and helpful. They will take the time to help you with your movements and make you feel comfortable before moving to the next step. I felt like I have progressed so much after just a few classes! Also, parking is easy to find in this location, which is a plus for me.

Cambridge Insight Meditation Center: what do users think?
Barbara Saltzstein: The MBSR class, 24 plus hours, is good for content, but absolutelylacking in any group experience, therefore, barely meaningful. After all these hours in a 10 person class, I know not the names nor interest of my fellow participants. There is no group sharing.Really? And the instructor ask is greater and greater.
Andreeyoga Namaste: I give 5 stars to my teacher, Larry Rosenberg, of many years. But I gives only 3 stars for how CIMC has changed.Looking at the list of programs, it’s like watching the politics of the day.Groups are segregated by race, gender and gender identity.Very hard to feel that such an approach is beneficial for all meditators connecting regardless of what they look like.
Steven Sklivas: A jewel of mindfulness in Cambridge.
Laurentiu Craciun: Amazing place to meditate
Judith Prebluda: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI have been studying and retreating at CIMC for over 20 years. The quality of clear instruction and compassionate responsiveness is outstanding and life changing. A jewel in the heart of Cambridge.
Adeline Sire: Beautiful center, welcoming people, excellent classes.
Ornoth Liscomb: A precious and authentic urban meditation center in the vipassana/insight meditation tradition. One-time sessions, recurring workshops, and meditation retreats for the full spectrum of practitioners, from beginners to longtime meditators. Especially valuable are the Wednesday evening dhamma talks, which feature a diverse set of recognized community leaders and monastics from varying traditions. A rare and precious gem of a resource for contemplative development.
Allen Perez: Teaches to go empty.
cheri ruane: Beautiful space with a wonderful community of practictioners. Excellent for beginners like me.
FREEANA: This place has a history of wounding and damaging people and tossing them out without a grievance system in place. It is an ego driven and rigid environment where the hierarchy between teachers and students is very obvious. They are a soft power cult from what I’ve learned. They don’t care about the individual in my experience and from what I’ve heard from others. Their one size fits all mentality is ridiculous for this century. Look up Lorin Roche and Camille Maurine Roche. They know how to encourage freedom and exploration within each unique person. We are not all the same! These people will trample all over your inner world if you let them. They do not have good boundaries.
Cliff Reeves: Beautiful building, relaxing environment.
Kyle Kaplan: Great place for a quiet sit, lovely community
Peter Kusinski: This is a great spot for all levels of practice. Very beginner friendly and a wide variety of teachers at they're Wednesday night Dharma talks. Many different groups meet regularly and they offer 1 day workshops most weekends.
John Robison: Larry Rosenberg is the man! Keep up the great work, Larry & Co!
Brian Bunnell: GREAT FACILITY for meditation or mindful socializing. Beautiful place!
doug g: This is a wonderful place to learn and practice meditation. Larry and Narayan, the guiding teachers, are among the great Western meditation masters. The center offers lots of classes, workshops and retreats at both beginner and intermediate levels. All in all a real gem.
Tom Horan: Great people, courses, meditation areas, retreats and a comprehensive library. It's a treasure for anyone who is serious about meditation.World-classes lecturers, teachers, and monks visit regularly to give dhamma talks and the center hosts a variety of retreats which cater to those at all stages of practice.
Mikhail M. Nitko: Amazing, kind place and people.
Thị Tân Mùi Nguyễn: The people in here are very nice and friendly. There are so many projects that you can join in to practice meditation and find out more about mindfulness. They have the activities for kids call "little Buddha" that is awesome!!! Highly recommend for this place!
Osvaldo Matos: Meditation and Dharma talk on Wednesdays at 6:30
Molly Roderick: I had an amazing life changing experience here. My teacher's name was Maddy. Her humor made the class easy to sit through. And I am now practicing meditating daily. It has opened my mind and brightened my soul. I am happier and at ease with my life. You should take a class with her! I highly recommend it!

Shambhala Meditation Center: what do users think?
Ginelle Testa: I adore this place! It's been a second home for almost 7 years now. Leadership is great and so are the teachers and community.
Mandy: Just no.
Ben: Very relaxing
lakota sandoe: Warm community. Lots of programming for all ages and stages of life and practice. No dogma. Very generous teachers. Can't recommend more highly.
Richie Batista: I went on a Sunday to an intro meditation class and learned 1 or 2 new things. The rooms were so peaceful and well designed!
Balint Karosi: I would not recommend this place. My girlfriend signed us up for a weekend session to learn about mediation. But we apparently signed up for a more advanced course: the refuge vow. We went to the opening Friday session last Friday 3/15/15. We were ushered into the upstairs sanctuary, where we sat for 20 min and then had to bow down in front of two Shambhala teacher's pictures, while our teacher processed into the room. During the whole session I felt intimidated. Our teacher was a white guy from Jersey working in finance. He had a weird energy around him. His lecture was vague and used rather pretentious language. After a brief Q&A they asked us chant some atheist chants and then to volunteer for work during the weekend. Some of their instructions included "please pick up your trash after yourself" even though everyone in that room acted very respectfully. On top of that they asked us to give a monetary "gift" to the finance guy in addition to the fee everyone already paid, which I though was insulting. We respectfully asked the secretary to remove us from the remaining session during the weekend, and reimburse us for the next two days that we were not planning to attend. One thing we learned that night was that one of the five precepts of Buddhism is not to take what is not yours. Ironically, we are still waiting for our refund.
Joe Snowdon: This is an amazing place of wonderful people committed to living in a society based on compassion, generosity and kindness. If we are going to make the world a better place for future generations this is the place to do it! Outstanding instruction in meditation practice, excellent coursework in mindfulness, and a strong Buddhist community that welcomes all walks of life.

Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi: what do users think?
mervat ali: I am very pleased with MASTER ChunShim and Master Luke. I enjoy very much their classes there is always something new to learn every time. Classes are informative & great for body brain and soul. I thank them for their continuous innovation and dedication. I want to add also the importance of education I get about how my body functions.I don’t want to forget Master Cho and Master Erin they were great I wish them the best. 🙏Many thanks.Mervat
Daniel Lee: . Thank you all teachers. They help so much.
anna kovgan: Thanks God that a year ago I found this place. After a year I found out that I am absolutely different person. I am 73 years old. I stopped feeling dizzy, improved my balance and life has changed. Thank you all teachers. They help so much.
Kelly Cianflone (SCKY ART): Great place and awesome people. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Both Master Cho and Erin are very patient with me and my teen autistic son. They easily accommodate for our disabilities and are patient and kind.
Maureen Riley: I’ve been involved in Pilates and other yoga practices, but this one is extraordinary. The availability of both attending in person and online is so generous. The instructor, Cho, teaches as we go and catches moves to correct. He is so pleasant, patient, and creative. It never gets boring! It’s never “easy”, but always effective for tension, relaxation, and improving my body’s ability to move! Past limitations are being corrected and it makes a significant difference in my life and overall health. I can’t speak highly enough of the quality of instruction and practice as a whole.
Soa Vuong: I love the classes and the exercises here. The instructors are so sincere, warm and skillful to guide us through the classes. Each class gives you a different vibe but all wonderful to bring you to relaxation and peace of mind. Highly recommend!
Nupura Bhise: This class has benefitted me tremendously both physically and mentally. It has improved my core strength. I have become calmer and less reactive. The instructors are all amazing. I have been part of the Arlington community for almost 2 yrs now. Recommend it if you are looking for a lifestyle improvement.
Karina Pinella: Positive:QualityI like how we are given the option to attend the classes either online or in person. Makes it easier to be able to attend classes during those times when attending online makes sense. The sessions are always fun, as the instructors vary the workouts that really work the body and brain. Try some classes to see for yourselves.
Vicki E: I was a member years ago of the Body & Brain Arlington years ago, and had to stop because of my busy work and home life. I recently made the best decision I’ve made in a long time to return to the center to resume my practice. I can’t say enough about Masters Cho and Elise. Their classes are always slightly different so things never get stuck in routine. I leave feeling energized and truly grateful. The zoom classes have been wonderful as well. Very convenient and so easy to join. I have made a commitment to better health, both physically and mentally and this center and staff is exactly what I needed to get me there. Ty!!!!
Gabrielle Amarosa: I have been a member at Body & Brain since 2019 and it has truly changed my life for the better! I tried a class on a whim to seek some relief from constant tension headaches and fell in love with the program & the people! In addition to helping with pain management I've also gained control over my overall physical and emotional health with this practice. All of the instructors are wonderful and really go above and beyond, including meeting 1x1 with members each month to talk through challenges & goals. This extra step has really helped keep me accountable in my practice so I can keep growing. I am also very impressed with how they've handled the pandemic. When everything started to get crazy last spring, they pivoted rapidly and seamlessly to offering a full live-stream class schedule through zoom. I've been a member of both the Riverwalk and Arlington centers and truly can't recommend them enough!
Greg Pence: Amazing yoga that's not just yoga but an extremely helpful lifestyle management system. I've been going here for 10+ years. I originally went for the physical yoga experience and got SO much more. It's been a transformative, life changing experience that has helped manage body, brain, life, stress, thoughts, relationships and work. The tools are invaluable. The staff are all very pleasant, dedicated, helpful and knowledgeable.
Robert Kerrigan (iMagine Aerial Prod.): Body & Brain Arlington is SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!I needed to find something that would help me with an on going health problem. I was searching for something that could help both with the physical and the mental/emotional issues that come along with the problem. Body & brain has proven to be just what I needed to feel stronger both physically and on the "mind" side of things. The studio offers so many different classes with such wonderful instructors that there is something I can do every day that helps me feel progress and positivity in both the physical and the spiritual side of my life. Thank you Body and Brain Arlington!
Patrick Hill: Since COVID made meeting in person nearly impossible, Body & Brain started conducting online yoga sessions. Although nothing replaces face-to-face contact, the internet classes enabled me to connect from the other side of the world while I was traveling on business. It was great to be connected to a positive, health-minded community in these difficult times.
Jeff Nielson: During the time of this pandemic we have all had to make many changes and adapt to changing circumstances. That has also been true for giving and taking classes at the Body and Brain Center here in Arlington.Thankfully Body and Brain (BNB) adapted all of their classes to an online format using Zoom. This actually made it very easy to join classes and I could do them right in the comfort of my own living room. Another great benefit is that we have 4 local BNB centers with many great instructors in our Boston area. However most people would only go to the one closest to them which makes sense. But with the online classes all the instructors taught at different times so I was able to take classes with instructors I otherwise would not have been able to. Every one of our local teachers has unique and special skills so that has been a real benefit to enjoy learning from all of them. Also due to my work schedule and then a little bit of a health condition it was sometimes difficult for me to get to classes on time or even get there at all. But now that I work from home all I have to do is turn on my computer, which I have connected to my TV and Viola, I'm in class!I cannot stress enough how important good health is and I think we all have been made aware of this fact with the current virus going around. Building your immune system has never been more important and it takes consistent work to keep your body mind and spirit in good health. So in that way it's been a real blessing to have such easy access to these classes. While I miss seeing people in person this has been the most excellent way to keep up my practice. And also it's very convenient and has saved travel time. Additionally I attended a multitude of corporate level classes I never would have been able to take them all if I had to travel to them. It would have taken several years or more!I will just end by saying that I have a long history of taking classes that use Eastern health and wellness exercises and principles to achieve better health. That includes quite a few martial arts classes in the past. This is why I love Body and Brain because they incorporate all of the Eastern energy principles in a fun way that also helps you improve yourself as a person, become more productive, have control over your thoughts and emotions, and just be a happier healthier brighter person! It's the best thing I have ever done! Thank you!
Cal R.: Body and Brain Yoga of Arlington is fantastic. I originally started attending bc at the age of 40 I was starting to experience pains with my shoulders and knees. In my attempt to stave away any further pains, I decided to take a class at Body and Brain Yoga. It was absolutely amazing. I joined shortly afterwards and my body feels 100%. Better than that, I appreciate the focus that Cho and Elise give to helping us focus and de-stress by not just concentrating on our bodies but also our minds. It is a full experience. It is one of the best decisions that I have ever made to keep my mind and body sharp and limber. Cho and Elise are warm, considerate professionals who know their craft and students very well. I appreciate the opportunity that I have to learn from them and the other great instructors in the studio. I definitely believe that I would have been incredibly more stressed mentally and physically if I did not have the chance to meditate and workout online as COVID started to increase. The other students are also great. Everyone is coming with the intention to be their best selves. Two thumbs up!
Marianela Lavena: I have been practicing qigong with Body and Brain for the last 2 years, it has been and amazing experience, It helped me heal and transformed my relationship with my loved ones.I have been practicing and teaching mindfulness meditation for the last 15 years and adding qigong to my daily routine was the piece of the puzzle that I was missing.I am very grateful that I found Body and Brain, all the teaches embodied what they teach, they are a great example to follow and their happiness and good energy is contagious.thanks B&B
Nathalie Simon: Positive:Professionalism,QualityGreat practice to pay more attention to physical body while developing energy and spiritual bodies. Growing the soul and consciousness of false and true self definitely helps in daily life.
Andrea Realpe: It has almost been a year since I have been going to this center and I am thankful every single day that I am able to attend(online) especially during these hard times. I get the same benefits online or even better, since it allows me to focus deeper only on myself. I have learned so much about who I am; emotional level, physical level and mental level. I had no idea that I could feel the energy that I feel moving within my body. This is important to me because I can feel the energy and turn that energy into bright positive energy. If you or anyone you know suffers from anxiety or any kind of trauma this is for you. I went from having anxiety every single day for most of the day to a few times a month. If I do get anxious, I use the techniques that I have been taught; tapping, body vibration, gigam, belly button healing. Using these techniques consistently you will feel balanced, light and at peace fairly quickly. On a more mental level, learning acceptance rather than judgement and showing compassion to oneself has been a huge help as well. You will meet highly trained, compassionate, caring, loving knowledgeable people at Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi. Thank you Master Cho and Elise and everyone at all the centers for making my life brighter 3
Lolona Morse: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI really like this place. They are professionals, polite and knowledgeable. I like the fact that they are very personable. I enjoy the peaceful experience with their meditation and practices. It's convenient with easy parking around.
Lea Delacour: I tried out B&B with little idea of what I was in for. (I was looking for a tai chi class). For the past 35 years, I have worked as a bodyworker and experienced many kinds of energy work to deal with my own severe blocks. I have also taken several extensive trainings working with the body and jumped at seeing any energy worker that sounded good. While I was trained as a social worker, I found work with the body and energy to be the best way to get past my defenses and access my real, authentic feelings. I say all this by way of saying I was in a good position to judge a class that advertises as B&B does.I was stunned after that first class (called home immediately to say how fantastic I felt!) and continue to feel that way after almost every class over a year later. The classes are a remarkable blend of yoga, tai chi, acupressure, and all manner of effective and challenging exercises to build strength and flexibility. In addition, there is a profound understanding of the function of energy in the body and classes include an impressive number of ways to both unblock and enhance the flow of energy (as well as teach about it).I was cautious at first….wondering: what is this place? Who are these people? Where have I landed? This was no ordinary yoga or Tai Chi class. Aside for the quite brilliantly designed classes, the kindness and dedication to helping everyone who enters was really extraordinary and it took me a while to trust it.The teachers are excellent and always working to improve their classes. While there are many moves that are repeated over and over, no class is like any other! And the tea circle that follows each class helps build a community of compassion and caring and learning from one another. In addition to classes, there are workshops to teach more specific ways of learning about energy, developing one’s brain (mental focus), and finding “your true self”.And, finally, I experienced some of the best energy session I’ve ever had. Underneath years of fatigue from insomnia, I discovered a world of delicious energy flooding my body by the end of the session. Slowly but surely, my old habits are changing. For anyone who wants to get stronger and more flexible in their body AND feel more authentic and alive……heads up1Lea DConcord, MA
David Picazio: As a person with Parkinson's, pwp, I can think of no other activity that helps to treat the symptoms of the disease better than a class at body and brain. The instructors are sincerely dedicated to helping people. Individual instruction and attention to each student is the standard. I look forward to attending class every day, and I feel great when I do.

Down Under School of Yoga: what do users think?
Lydia P: The place needs improvement. Classes are good though
Irina Angel: I am writing to review Gregor Singleton. With all the ups and downs we are going through right now, I can’t think of a better investment in our well-being than signing up for the class with Gregor Singleton. I first met Gregor 15 years, and without a doubt, there is no one like Gregor when compared with the best yoga teachers!Every minute of a 90-minute class with Gregor counts. Starting with ever so gently, “let’s begin’, Gregor will take you through the steps of interconnected movements and breaths, signaling your mind and body to relax and begin to discover the return of your health and self-empowerment.Every word you hear comes with the wisdom of a master of yoga and the fluency and precision of academic scholar, in a way that only Gregor can craft, as his outstanding education in classic literature and a past career in Royal Arts shapes it.Gregor makes it easy for anyone to animate the most abstract ideas related to human perceptions and feelings, which is soothing and brings your sense of knowing how to move, breath, and be at any moment.Gregor’s lessons are often packed, so if you are even a few minutes late, you might end up squeezing your mat at the farthest space in the studio or the most visible spot. Regardless of where you land or how many students are around you, you will likely feel like the only student in the class. Gregor’s reassuring way of speaking coveys such a sense of trust, as if you are conversing with an old friend.Thank you, Gregor, for empowering the community through achieving our best health and self-realization!
Kara VanGuilder: My favorite yoga place in the Boston area. Very clean facility, awesome teachers, and overall very relaxing environment. I recommend it to everyone in the area! It’s been my saving grace in the pandemic.
Melissa Faulkner: Most knowledgeable teachers in Boston, and a calm, warm, peaceful environment thanks to wonderful faculty and desk staff. Clean beautiful studios. And they truly pay all their teachers a fair living wage - which is almost unheard of in the yoag community nationally. You can feel good about supporting this local woman-owned business while intentionally growing physically and mentally through their powerful classes.
Avi Kramer: I have had only amazing experiences at Down Under Yoga in Brookline. The manager, Kyle Morgan, has been a great yoga teacher, extremely generous, and kind with helping me get my yoga practice going and just being a good friend as someone new to the area. The heated classes are difficult and are too much for me (although a lot of people seem to love them) but I have learned a lot in the none heated flow classes, and appreciate this studio for what it has to offer.
Derek Wright: I like yogo and it strengthen your body and Down Under School and Core Power represent yogo and I support both.
Jeff Kauppi: As a long-time practitioner of Hot Power Vinyasa Yoga, I'm ambivalent about the Down Under School of Yoga. I've practiced for fifteen years at the Cambridge studio, and flowed through all the changes of the last few years. With “7 Schools of Down Under” it seems they are trying to be all things to all people. If you don't know what you're looking for in a yoga practice, this might be a good thing. But, if you're like me and know what you want, it's getting harder and harder to find a class that satisfies.I've visited all three studio locations, and everyone I've encountered working there has been very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. However, not all the teachers are ready for prime time. If you're a beginner I would recommend starting with Gregor's class. If you're a more advanced student, and can handle more nuanced instruction, go see Masaaki.I've researched other yoga studios, and taken classes at a number of them. Despite my reservations about Down Under School of Yoga, I will say this, they are the best game in town.
Kyra Chester-Paul: Having spent a decade studying various styles of yoga at numerous studios throughout the country, I felt like I found my yoga home at Down Under. The 200 hour teacher training systematized the body of knowledge I already had, demonstrated how much more I still have to learn, and pointed me in the direction I next want to take my practice. Very grateful to have been a student here.-Kyra Chester
Jim Kozubek: I have been doing yoga at the Brookline studio for about a year. The teachers at this studio are friendly and professional. They are pretty good at teaching, and comparatively as good as anywhere in the area.Recently the studio was having some discussion regarding the metoo movement. They were talking about adopting some strategies for students to opt out of contact with teachers. It is hard for me to believe that adult women are paralyzed or helpless in class, and even harder to believe that women do not already have the ability to express themselves without some sort of esoteric communication strategy supplied to them by the studio. In general this sort of thing strikes me as going against the grain of the women's liberation movement, since I already believe women to be competent to do this thinking on their own. Since there have apparently been no incidents at this studio, the whole discussion was awkward to begin with, and more in line with the cultural progressive currents than about the needs of students. In any case, no harm done.In truth, I don't understand where ideas like 'trigger warnings' and 'safe spaces' originate from. To me, there really are no safe spaces in the world, and it does a disservice to perpetuate the sort of illusions that we live in separate safe zones, since you are not only still not safe, but you have decided you are not going to adjust or learn anything new.Overall I can recommend this studio.
kari mar: great programming and instructors.
Drishti: Where’s the WELLNESS ? ☹️My first experience at Down Under Yoga was a BAD one. I was given a monthly pass as a birthday gift and was excited to try this studio, which is close to my home. Unfortunately, in the immediate weeks following my birthday I became ill with a nasty upper respiratory infection and was unable to utilize my monthly pass - but once ( before falling ill ). By the time I was well enough to practice again my monthly pass was about to expire, so I decided to reach out to the studio to let them know my situation, - in hopes of reconciling a fraction of the missed gift pass in the form of a future visit / class. I later received a voicemail & subsequently spoke with Holly from the Brookline studio, who informed me that I was welcomed to purchase more passes, if I’d like to return to the studios. The conversation felt transactional and I was put off. I expressed my disappointment at the way the situation was handled and wished her a good day.I expected more from a WELLNESS based business and it’s unfortunate that they are so focused on the latter.
Gabriela DeLeon: Really enjoyed the class and instructor! However, I didn’t appreciate the front desk service. I live in Roslindale so drove in and needed some quarters for the meter. I had other coins and wanted to exchange for quarters (meter only accepts quarters) and she said they can only give me $1 in quarters and are not allowed to accept coins in exchange for quarters. Just so difficult...if the exchange is of the same value what’s the big deal. If someone drives to your studio and you don’t have free parking and they’re looking to get quarters for meter to park and you have them it shouldn’t matter how many they need or if the exchange is in other coins. That’s all :)
Mary Gleason: People are nice. If you don’t have strong yoga skills don’t go! Very little corrections and minimal guidance to improve. I don’t have same relaxed feeling when I leave. It feels like yoga factory. If I didn’t have strong yoga basics I would be lost.
Iris: Clean, good vibes and the instructors I have come across are great. Good for all skill levels
Kevin Glynn: This place is top notch due to the fact that they have Patricia Walden on their teaching facility. She is a premier Iyengar teacher and direct disciple and devotee of BKS Iyengar. Patricia's teachers and students are a strong and serious group of practitioners. If you're serious about yoga and want to go beyond the asanas, come early to Patricia's classes to attend the talk. This often includes a deep philosophical discussion that complements the physical practice nicely. Usually, it is based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Scott Jones: Excellent yoga studio. I've been attending the hot power yoga classes and every teacher has been excellent. A great mix of styles and personalities. The space is clean, easy to use, great facilities, showers. Online portal is quick and easy. The staff is friendly. And the other people there are friendly and not intimidating. I cannot recommend this studio enough. I practiced yoga 10 years ago and have come back to it recently. There are a lot of studios to choose from now, and this is by far my favorite.
Heather Wise: Avoid the instructors at Claire Este McDonald and Barbara Benagh at all costs. Claire in particular seems like a highly inexperienced teacher who criticizes her students practice, while being inexperienced herself, and provides yoga flows that don't incorporate therapeutic stretches, making her class dangerous for anyone prone to injury. Avoid at all costs. Barbara clearly has narcissistic personality disorder and thinks she is a god of yoga or something without any respect for other personal practice. All other teachers are great, especially Gregor Singleton-- highly recommend his class.
David Freeman: Not a fan of this studio, especially when it comes to heated practice. Extremely crowded classes and very poorly designed lobby. Also had a very unpleasant exchange with the owner, which was unfortunate. If you are interested in heated yoga, I would suggest the newly reopened Baptiste studio in Brookline. I recently went back to this location, and it is far superior to this one.
Libby Nicholaou: Great yoga studio. They offer a variety of classes ranging from very intense (sweaty) to restorative. The studio has a nice feel to it and the teachers are well seasoned and friendly. Recommend it 👍
Gary Martin: Tom yoga classes are great, all must attend.
Sarah Don: I LOVE this yoga studio. I was originally drawn in by the name since I'm from Australia but I haven't met any other Aussies yet.Everyone is so friendly and the studio itself is very clean and well kept. You can borrow the yoga mats and blocks and stuff so you don't have to lug your own around if you're walking straight from work. The instructors are absolutely fantastic - I've enjoyed every class I've taken so far. There are so many different instructors and types of yoga to choose from.Newcomers can pay $30 for 30 days of unlimited yoga which really allowed me to explore the classes and decide not only if I liked the studio, but also if I liked yoga and wanted to pursue it.
