La Favorita Market: what do users think?
Tom R: Lovely little shop, my partner is from Mexico and we come here to get our mangonada fix and Oaxaca cheese! Lots of sauces and Latin ingredients.
Ashley Acuna: This is a very small market (2 aisles) that include cleaning supplies, kitchen items, food (dry foods, canned food, chips, snacks and Central American pastries. A lot of items are not priced so chips were between $3-4 and there is a $.20 bag fee.
Timothy Meeker: Totally hidden gem on Harvard Ave, with excellent selection of both shelf stable and refrigerated goods. They cover all of your bases from seldom seen imports of Latin candy & condiments to fresh queso fresco and particularly Honduran cheeses. A great selection of tortillas and similar. The prices are all extremely fair, and the owner was very friendly. The only downside is the produce, a lot of which was overripe or brown - though for the small space and specialty fare I don't really fault them for it. Definitely coming again!
Justin Libby: Pros: lots of specialty items that are hard to find elsewhere. Friendly staff.Cons: small space, limited selection
Nelson V.: Was sent to other store for the products in the picture, but decided to stopped by La Favorita first and found what I needed to get!
Alejandro Bustamante: Very friendly people
Avery Tronson: best produce
Willian Hernandez: Went for the first time and love it good selection of central American products
Roxi Valle Lazaro: Perfecta la atención al cliente.
Javier Marcelo Ferreyra Andrada: La verdad un hermoso lugasr para recorrer y disfrutar de la buena vista...

Joe Donnelly: Had a mixed experience. While the food and drinks, such as the fish tacos, nachos, margaritas and duck taquitos were enjoyable, the atmosphere could have been better. The restaurant was quite loud, with repetitive music, and the bar staff made us feel rushed. The service was good, but I would suggest trying this restaurant earlier in the day rather than as a late night snack or dinner option. Despite the noisy ambiance, I would consider giving Citrus and Salt another chance next time I am in Boston.
Luis Lopez: Sara (the Colombian girl) is an amazing server she described us all the items in the menu and all of them were amazing! I highly recommend this place and specially ask for her service She is very attentive and friendly! Thanks Sara and citrus and salt we’ll be back very often!
Danille Calvo: Great food and drinks! I highly recommend you try the grilled octopus and their Oaxaca Old Fashion.
Alex: They were packed on Tuesday night! But I still got a seat at the bar.Inventive cocktails, nice food selection. The barmen was totally awesome 👍Somehow he managed to serve everybody quickly and maintain the conversations. I'd give +2 stars just for him - he created the atmosphere.Beautiful Liar is a really good looking cocktail. Well balanced too. Recommended. And I had just chips and guac, but it was delicious.
Amanda Nimkar: Just had dinner here last night for my sister in laws bachelorette celebration. It was a great night! The staff was friendly, accomodating and we were sat right away at a nice secluded table. We ordered amazing drinks and all of the food we got was so tasty and good. Guacamole was fresh, corn was spicy and cooked great, personal favorite were the carne asada fries, so good!!!!! Definitely recommend.

Erin Caldwell: Kind of a cool vibe but the food was lacking. Felt like the fillings had been sitting around a while and the taco shells were way overcooked.

Dylan McManus: Went here for dinner with a sizeable group. Service was slow to take our order but once they came, drinks and food came fast and the servers were nothing but polite and courteous. Overall, portions are a large and food is decent. Food-wise, you get your bang for your buck. The drinks are tasty, but tons of ice and very expensive. I would definitely recommend this place, however just know it will be a pricey evening because the drinks add up quickly.

Lisa Gómez: I love the food here and the waiter Jose is always a gem, however i always have a hard time coming to this place because of the hostess. She's so rude, a literal nightmare to deal with. She won't sit you even if you have a reservation and get there on time even if there's 10 tables available. She'll make you even wait outside in the rain. She's ridiculous and if you talk to any other staff they sit you right away--there's no holdup. Don't know what her deal is, maybe she is racist. In any case if she didn't work there my rating would go from 1 to 5 stars. She sucks and always ruins my evenings there. What's her deal?
Blanca MK: Food was good but not great. The mole does not taste like real mole, a bit weak. Adjust expectations.Service wasn’t great, they charged our check to someone else and it took a very long time to fix.The place is pretty, I would recommend for drinks only.
Bijan S: We tried two different cocktails and they were both disgusting and undrinkable. The fajita was also awful. The atmosphere was fun for a basement tough.
Kevin: I want to preface that the food is delicious at this place. Everything we got we loved. However, this place is way overpriced and kinda shady. Once sitting down the server set down chips and salsa on the table. You would think this is complimentary considering the server didn’t ask if we wanted it or not. Then they brought out a plate of guacamole. Again, we were never asked if we wanted it. We then were charged $15 for the chips, salsa, and guac. Plus another $6 for a refill of chips. This is very shady business. I’d recommend stopping your server before placing the chips on the table if you don’t want to pay $15.The margarita was very good, but I had way better for way cheaper. My friend wanted hot sauce, but they charged $4 for a very small amount of sauce. I think it would have been nice if they said that it would have been an extra charge.I recommend this place for good authentic Mexican food, but beware of the shady extra charges.
Patrick McKenna: 4.5 stars. A hidden Mexican gem in the city of Boston. Located down public ally 431, it’s easy to miss. Walk in and down the stairs right to bar. More tables are located in back, but it is relatively small. Service and staff were amazing. The bartender was entertaining, attentive and really enjoyable. They have a long list of homemade margs or other mixed drinks. Standard Mexican beers. The menu is relatively small, but delicious at the same time. Chips, salsa and guacamole was good. The enchiladas are delicious as is the chicken quesadillas. Pricing is standard and exactly what you would expect for Boston, especially if you order multiple drinks. Parking is very hard to come by, so just walk or blue bike. I would definitely come back, as this one of the better Mexican restaurants in the city! Highly recommend you try at least once.
Diana M Gallo: We were scammed in this restaurant this past weekend so I do not recommend you to go there. We ordered only tacos and fajitas and we payed $107 . They charged us for the nachos they brought to your table with the water when you sit down. We never ordered those so I thought they will be a "courtesy". Since our food took a long time to come they asked us if we wanted more nachos, well they charged again. We didn't have the chance to check the receipt there ( we never got a printed bill to check but the waiter came with the iPad to show the bill on the screen and to pay in that moment so we just payed it) When I came back home I also noticed they added a tip for the kitchen service as part of the items we ordered. Based on that total, they calculated the general tip that the restaurant charges you.
Lawrence San: I haven't eaten there in quite a few years, but I used to go there occasionally with friends, and was pleasantly surprised by two things: (1) The only Mexican food I had tried previously was at fast-food Taco places, which I hated, but the food and atmosphere at Casa Romero were actually pretty nice; and (2) They had something I was willing to eat (vegetarian), called Chile Rellenos I think (or something like that) and it was pretty good. I recall that the place was a little pricey but overall it was a nice experience.
Kristen Dionne: Located down an alley (uber driver had a good eye, otherwise we never would've found it!) Casa Romero is a great place to frequent for some Mexican food in the Back Bay area. The place was absolutely packed and it felt a little tight but the service was still on point and we could still hear each other talking. We loved our fajitas and the fact that the meat/veggies were served in a bowl with a little broth rather than the typical sizzling tray that makes the whole restaurant usually turn around and look at you. The La Pinata margarita was also totally delicious, I will have to return when their new renovated bar is open so I can try something off their full drink menu!

Abbey K: I almost hesitate writing a review because finding this place a few years ago was the greatest discovery, and it feels like me and my fiances hidden gem. I tried the Puerco Adobado con Chipotle y Naranja and never looked back. It's our absolute favorite dish of all time anywhere. It's a juicy cut of pork smothered in a chipotle orange sauce, topped with orange slices. There is seriously nothing else like it, and when they got rid of it for a little while, I cried LOL Aside from this dish everything else they make is divine. You seriously can never go wrong here. Best Mexican food I've ever had!! Already can't wait to go back. @goodfriesonly

Sloan Enstad: EDIT: In response to the restaurants reply to my original post, it is very unprofessional to blatantly accuse me of lying. Not sure exactly who it was we spoke to but whoever the individual was had to have been in some sort of management position as she was sitting at the desk in the front and was providing direction to other staff members. Clearly whoever responded remembered us since they mentioned that not all of us spoke fluent Spanish. Coming from a predominantly Mexican community we love to support any small buisness and restaurants whenever we can. My review was not intended to hurt the small business but sometimes it is important to inform others of the truth. Your comment goes to show the quality of service we received. I hope you all strive to improve this rather than continue to attack reviewers. My family and I were visiting Boston and decided to stop by this place for a quick burrito. My sister and I got a burrito to split so we asked for a knife. The owner got upset with us and lectured us for 10 mins about how that is disrespectful to her food. She said the “juices” would run out of the burrito. My sister and I decided that it wasn’t worth it and went back to our apartment and cut it. When I tell you this was the DRIEST burrito ever it didn’t even fall apart. I gave two stars because the burrito was pretty good but the owner was very hostile. Didn’t know asking to cut a burrito in half was such an issue. Based off of the reviews it shows that the owner is not trying to be less aggressive. Next time we visit we will not be returning to this restaurant nor recommending it.

Brendan M: Went here for lunch during the week and highly recommend for quick and good quality food. I ordered the carnitas burrito and have to say that it was one of the best I have had in the local area. I like how the outside of the burrito is toasted and melts the cheese on the inside.
Carolyn Cerva: I tried the carnitas burrito, it was delicious and had a slight citrus flavor which was different. Also they grill the burritos which makes them even tastier!
Berenice Espinosa: The chorizo is not real Mexican chorizo, the salsa is not even spicy, carnitas don't taste like carnitas, flavorless guacamole. Sorry to say this, but not real Mexican food and I am Mexican.
Robert: best burritos in the world!!!!!!!
Loo E: Expensive prices, no where near real mexican food, no taste, they gave me my tacos (only 2 tacos for $14) wrapped and squeezed in aluminum foil, soggy and tasteless... bad experience and poor service!!
Peter Borten: Pretty tasty but they didn't seem to understand when I said repeatedly that all I wanted was a small, plain quesadilla for my kid. Ended up with a $20 meal that was more food - and price - than I was expecting.
Horst Wagner: Burrito didn’t taste very good. Not what I expected from a restaurant advertised as “authentic Mexican.
Daisy Wortel: We are visiting from Miami. We saw a show on TV that said this restaurant serves great Authentic Mexican food. When we arrived we noticed this was not a restaurant. This is a to go place. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. We ordered three burritos. They were all made with Carnitas. The meat did not taste like carnitas or any other meat that I am familiar with. It was also did not seem fresh and the ingredients did not have the consistency and the quality of what an authentic Mexican food has. We noticed the food was bad from the first bite we took out of our burrito. We stopped eating at that point. Both bottled sodas we ordered were flat and the service was terrible. When we approached by one of the servers, I quietly asked her to please ask her boss for a refund Because the food was not satisfactory.. The owner came out and started yelling at us In front of everyone “if you are not a chef you have no opinion, get the hell out of my store I don’t need your business.” All she needed to do was give me a refund and move on with her day in a professional manner. The owner acted very aggressively. I wonder how the staff is treated if this is how she reacts just based on one simple incident. The owner went completely crazy. At the end as we walked out, she flipped her middle finger at my friend. The only reason why am writing this incident is because she told me not to write it. This business owner needs to learn how to be professional and sell quality food. The food should speak for itself.
ryan durfee: Best burrito in Boston. Family owned
Diana Santiago-Acevedo: La dueña nos atendió pésimo. Cuando solicitamos un plato extra para compartir la dueña salió molesta y nos levantó la voz. No lo recomiendo; su comida no es de calidad. The owner attention was unrespectful. When we requested an extra plate to share; the owner came out upset and she raised her voice to us. I do not recommend it; and the food taste are bad too.

Olivia Marciano: Really great food here, and good prices. I have heard that they treat their staff well, which makes me want to support them even more! The vegetarian burrito is very good, and the location is convenient if you're visiting the Gardner Museum, the MFA, going to Target, or are visiting any of the several colleges in the area.

Still very cute and great for a quick lunch. If you're looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, I highly recommend trying the Americanos tacos. These tacos are a great choice for anyone who loves Mexican-inspired cuisine and is looking for a tasty and filling dish. The chicken is grilled to perfection, resulting in a juicy and flavorful meat that is the perfect complement to the creamy sour cream and fresh cilantro.Definitely one of the best taco places in Boston!
NateBlade: I mean, the food is pretty good. I bought a burrito, which was good. Some issues though, soda was flat, and the ice machine was broken. Inside seating was minuscule, and the inside benches were not that good.Other than that, it was fine. Definitely a good lunch place, but not much room INSIDE, so you gotta eat outside.3.9/5, recommend some improvements but other than that, it's good.
