0: First and last time spending my money here. I spent $136 on a 14k gold nose stud only for the piercer to give me the wrong size jewelry. Not only is the jewelry too small but the post itself is silver. The piercer didn't measure the fit of the jewelry properly. In fact, she didn't bother measuring it at all! She simply just told me to tilt my head back so she could try to see up my nose, then she took a guess. After voicing my concern she reassured me it would fit properly and I trusted her since she is the "professional."When I reached out via email since my phone calls went unanswered they told me I would have to go back and pay an additional $15 for the post and $10 for the installation. None of this was communicated with me at the time of purchase.

The shop is clean, the waiting area is comfortable and I've been treated well every time. The shop manager is good at her job. Parking in this neighborhood kinda sucks, so if you're driving, give yourself extra time to make a couple rounds. They used to do walk ins on Saturdays, which I took advantage of. It's my understanding they became appointment only because of covid. Prices are totally fair for the industry.

Kara Coraccio: Got a piercing with Emrys yesteday, and can't recommend enough! I initially went in for an industrial but unfortunately I don't have the right anatomy for it. Emrys explained everything in great deal, and we came up with a great option to get a forward helix piercing to eventually incorporate with a prior piercing with a chain to get a similar industrial effect. I chose my earings and then the person who was doing the piercing, in my case Owen, Told me to come in. I was nervous but he was very nice and had a good vibe. he was all about consent and made sure I was prepared for anything he did, how much it hurt, what he was about to do etc... Charnae Coles: I just had the worst experience here. I went to the shop inquire about a tattoo and if it was eligible for a walk in appointment. When I arrived the micro aggression that I received was ridiculous. The receptionist barely greeted me and would only talk to me through the cracked door with his arms folded. Every question I asked him was given a swift response of we don’t do the type of tattoos you want here maybe try a “street shop”. He then switched his response to my questions to “it’s up to the artist discretion”. When I asked was it possible to speak to an artist I was told no one had time to speak with me although I saw multiple artist not serving clients at the moment. It’s is very disheartening to receive this type of treatment especially being a black woman living in the suburbs of Boston. If you are a Black person avoid this place.

I went to Lucky’s tattoo and piercing (Cambridge) and walked out annoyed with nothing done and lost $35 with them because I came in 10mins late and didn't even at least giving me a consultation for what I needed after waiting for 2 weeks appointment in advance and said I have to buy their jewelry otherwise they dont do piercing for me.I searched for nearby piercing and found Chameleon. The front dest-charming man answered all my questions and let me come in for a consultation with James without obligation because I already have my own special jewelry that’s the reason I wanted to get ear pierced. James was super nice. He looked at my jewelry and gave me a consultation how to place it nicely and comfortably on my ear then I said right away let’s do it. Once getting to the studio, I was greeted by my piercer, Jake, and he was so kind and helpful from the start. We first replaced two piercings in my nose for the correct sizes and they fit PERFECTLY - exactly what I was looking for. I asked if he had time for a piercing (also listed this in my booking) and he said we had plenty. So he did a quick consult of the location and showed me which jewelry pieces would work. I chose one that I’m absolutely in love with and was pierced and on my way. Jake was so kind, gentle, and just an all around great vibe. The studio was clean and welcoming. She has a great way of working with kids, made sure she felt comfortable and involved, checked in with her a number of times. My daughter actually almost passed out (notably, not from pain she said, but from the weird sensation and holding her breath in anticipation) and they handled it beautifully by having her lie down, brought her some juice to drink, and then rescheduled us for no fee to come back a second day to have the other side done. I had two 12 year old microdermal hip piercings that I wanted to get removed but I was absolutley terrified to do so (given how long they’d been in for and the fact that I had no clue what the removal process would entail or how painful it would be).I wasn’t sure if I should try a piercer or plastic surgeon for removal and was swayed to reach out to Arcadia after reading all of the positive reviews from other clients. They were not wrong!Morgan and her team at Arcadia went above and beyond to make me feel calm and comfortable throughout the entire process. I’m kicking myself for not getting her team-member’s name while I was there — they were both so awesome to work with!They made me feel welcome and told me tales of all of their own dermal removal experinces while we waited for the equipment to sterilize. Laughing and chatting with them really helped me calm my nerves. Everyone had great energy and I genuinely felt like I came to the right place and would be in good hands throughout the process.I spent the entire night before panicking while reading Reddit threads about how painful the dermal removal process would be - to the point where I even tried to look up breathing exercises and meditations to distract me from the pain during the procedure - turns out, I didn’t need any of those! Removing both dermals felt like it took less than 5 minutes total and thanks to Morgan, they barely hurt at all! I had one that was already irritated from my friend’s dog hopping on my lap a couple weeks prior and it popped out so quick and easily, Morgan refused to even charge me for that one! I imagined the other one would be significantly worse since it wasn’t already irritated, but she was able to get it out in minutes with minimal pain. It was maybe 20-30 total seconds of mild pain/discomfort and then it was over. I was honestly in more pain trying to pop a zit earlier that day lol. I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutley speechless! I had worked myself up SO much during the weeks leading up to it, I was in complete awe that everything went so quick and easily.So if you’re like me and spending hours reading about others’ experinces and hyping yourself up over the pain while deciding where to get dermals removed, definitely come see my girl Morgan - she has the magic touch and went above and beyond to ensure it was a comfortable experience. I could not be more grateful. I’d literally consider getting more piercings again in the future just to hang out with the Arcadia team, they were so awesome 😂 I can’t possibly recommend this place enough.I even screwed up while booking and accidentally clicked the “15 min piercing removal” option before seeing the “30 min microdermal removal” option, was so anxious I almost forgot to bring a mask with me despite their website being VERY clear about needing one, and even desperately asked to move my appointment up a few days (essentially, I was just being the *most* annoying customer ever leading up to it because i was so anxious lol) - and instead of being annoyed with all my mixups and emails of questions, they were all incredibly kind and understanding about everything and went above and beyond to assist me through the process. sarah K: I’ve been to Boston tattoo company multiple times at both Somerville and Medford. Recently I got a tattoo in Somerville and it was genuinely the worst experience I have had with an artist. I went with my partner to get matching tattoos and the end results look drastically different, which is really disappointing because they were supposed to be really special and now they’re just a sad reminder of this horrible experience. To start, the tatto was literally three lines and somehow the two tattoos look different. They tattoos both vary in thickness, mine looking very thick and my partners looking thin. The artist showed up 20 minutes pst our scheduled appointment time and then we waited another 30 for them to set up, which is completely fine and expected. When we finally went to his room for the tattoo he placed the stencil on my partner and said we needed to let it dry and then left us alone for another 15ish minutes while he went to get coffee. My tattoo is completely blown out and the ink spread and also extremely faded somehow? I have multiple tattoos, and every artist I go to says I heal them well, so I know this wasn’t for my lack of applying aquaphor after the tattoo. The tattoo quality itself is horrible. I’ve had some really great tattoos done at BTC (and if I was based off those I would give them a 5 star, but based solely of this appointment and interaction I have to give them a 2/5), but after this I can’t go back because it was truly so uncomfortable and such a let down.Service:Tattoos

Kyle Ian: The last two interactions I've had with employees of this location include watching a Jeep near miss of a pedestrian with a stroller, and being turned away at the door looking for jewelry they no longer sell as it's 'out of style' recommending me to go to another 'local shop'. So, not paying attention to detail when it matters, and not selling wares. Sure, I will go to another shop, good recommendation.

Alice Chiang: Came in to get a new septum ring. Brian was friendly and efficient - I was still in and out within 10-15 minutes. The fee for his service was very reasonable. The jewelry piece itself was admittedly more than I expected ($260 for 14k rose gold, hammered 3/8" ring). However, I wanted to get something high quality and subtle. It does seem like they have a decent variety of rings, so I'm sure someone can find something in their price range. Very responsive staff, *love* the ability to book online, and they accept credit cards. Professional, clean, and modern place.Service:Nose piercing

Kimberly Doyle: I am not into piercings and only have my ear lobes done - so when I went in I stated that I was a little nervous and looking for more information. The process was very transactional - I did not find the staff or piercer that friendly. I was in and out and just felt I was talked down to. I was also disapointed to find out that they did not provide their customers with saline solution for the piercing. Like i mentioned, I am not familiar with piercings but I felt a $40 piercing fee was a little high. Overall, I did find this place clean and efficient just not personal.Service:Piercings

I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was warmly greeted and told I could get a piercing within 30 min - I ended up having a scheduling issue and needed to run another errand and was told as long as I come back before they close, and understand those who walk in and wait to be seen before I return will be prioritized, then I can come back later on, which was perfectly reasonable and worked great for me! When I came back an hr later, I was able to be pierced within 10 min of sitting down. I got my belly button pierced by Angie and she did an awesome job, was very kind, reassuring and quick! The people at the front desk gave her some toys to hold while she was nervous waiting and Madison had the perfect studio to create a comfortable environment for any age. The only downside is they’re so good they’re booked far in advance so I couldn’t sneak in my own piercing, but will definitely be booking in the future.
