Brian's Kennels Training & Quality Grooming: what do users think?
Carson Leccese: My dog loves going here. Staff is super friendly, greets my dog with lots of excitement. I would highly recommend for day care or boarding.
Sybil Oconnell: Excellent place to board dog
Angela M Spagna: I get my cat's nails done here, fast and flawless!
Ashlyn Hogan: I used to bring my pug here years ago a d new bring my fur brother Pomeranian and fur son American Akita. Grooming and boarding effortless and pups come.home smelling good for weeks!
Peter Krasnausky: Took care of my bootsie's matting problem nice and cheap. Thanks.
Crystal Tiffany: If I could give a negative star I would. I have never been charged more than $100 to groom my Briard. They charged me $160. The groomer asked me directly whether she should cut/trim his face, and I vehemently begged her explicitly NOT to trim, cut, shape his face or head in any way, and she acknowledged that she understood. I explained that if we let his hair grow out it will part over his eyes, and she acknowledged that. She then ignored that request completely and did whatever she wanted, significantly trimming and shaping his face and head and neck. I am outraged at the price I was charged for a service I did not get. I will be entering a complaint with the BBB. Who do they think they are?
Tyler McGeehan: We love Brian's Kennels! Our dog is so excited every time we bring her for play group or an extended stay.
lashauna pettway: They were super awesome the receptionist help me the whole time with my little Ruby who Was afraid as well as I
Avery Glennon: did not have a good experience with my dog at all. my dog came home with her paws all bashed up. she has an infected paw wound and many more. the workers did not take notice in my dog. I will not be bringing her back.
Christopher Butler: Have been going to this kennel for years. Pretty much everyone knows my dog and he greets them with no issue. The last time I drop him off before going out of town a guy I have never seen is there. He seems flustered and an uneasy. He tried to leash my dog and he barked at him. He then accused my dog of attacking him and proceeded to tell others the same thing. He was quickly corrected by my wife who came in next to drop off our cat. When I returned the woman who was there informed me that I needed to retrieve my dog from the back myself. Clearly because this guy was giving my dog a bad name. I have never once received a negative report about my dog in all the years he has been there. I won’t be back. Just lost my business. Get this guy training or don’t let him near peoples animals!
Christine Cedrone: Great service. Always does a great job grooming our cat Frankie.
Luke Schneider: I have an extremely difficult dog to groom. I adopted him two years ago and after one groomer was unable to complete his first haircut I started grooming him myself. I decided to try again with Brian's Kennel. About two weeks ago I called and explained how challenging the dog is and that I would like to speak to the groomer prior to the appointment. I also informed whoever I spoke with that the dog will be sedated for the appointment. The person I spoke with suggested I come for the first appointment of the day to be able to speak with the groomer. The closest appointment was today 6/21/22 and they initially booked me at 7am. They called me back shortly after and moved the appointment to 7:30 am because the groomer wouldn't be in at 7am. I arrived on time this morning with a sedated dog and was informed that the groomer wouldn't be arriving until 8:30 am. The only option I was given was to leave the dog until the groomer arrived. I asked why someone would book me for a 7:30 am appointment when the groomer doesn't arrive until 8:30 am. The young woman I spoke to didn't know the answer. I left and I won't be going back. I explained how difficult the dog can be to groom. I planned the timing of the sedative, I took first appointment of the day, and I asked to be able to speak to the groomer. I did everything I could to make the process as smooth as possible for both my dog and the groomer. Now I have a sedated dog that I'm too angry to groom myself right now and I'm looking at another couple weeks before I can try again with another groomer. If your dog can be challenging to groom Brian's Kennel will not work with you to make the experience easier and will end up wasting your time.
Sheika Babin: Jake's first day in doggy day care at Brian's Kennel was good. It's going to take a few visits but I think it's the place to keep him while I am at work. The place clean and the staff was very nice. Will se how the next week or two weeks go.
Paula MacElhiney: Fantastic! Our dogs love going there.
Paul Harding: Staff is friendly and very helpful
Brian McInerney: Toby is always excited to spend a couple days making new friends at Brian's. You should see his little tail go back and forth. These people love dogs!
Pamela Jones: Nice crew. Dog has came home happy every time
Hilary Dudley: We left our boopys here for 6 days, left bones, and asked that they give her a bath while she’s there. When we picked her up she had a horrible cold, ate like she hasn’t ate since we dropped her off, and smelt worse than she did when we dropped her off. We also noticed patches on her skin were lighter than others (we have no idea what this means). I don’t believe they even bathed her and charged me for it let alone traumatized our dog. Pay the extra few bucks, there’s a reason this place is this cheap. Will absolutely never be back
Kevin Zarnoch: I sent both my dogs here while we were away on vacation. One of my dogs is overly nervous, always anxious. They handled them both perfectly. Loved everything about my experience and will be recommending them to everyone and using them in future. Thanks!
Tatiana Hill: We left our yorkie there for a week and when we went to pick him up, it was pretty seamless. By the time he came back home with us, we noticed that he was acting extremely weird and found him bleeding under his neck and near his legs. We tried to call and see what happened but they’ve been avoiding us. Now we are having to take him to the vet and get him checked out…DO NOT TRUST THEM
Allie Chisholm: Positive:Quality,Value

The Urban Hound Hotel & Daycare: what do users think?
Curt Echo: Extremely expensive and unorganized
Aron Wagnr: Never answered phone or returned a message after several calls.
Jamie Lynn: Vicky, Angela, and their grooming team always deliver a top-notch experience!
Kate Schade: The Urban Hound Hotel was the perfect place to board our dog during our Boston wedding. We live out of state and planned to include Beau in the ceremony but needed to board him for the rest of the wedding weekend due to hotel pet polices, etc. The Urban Hound worked with our specific wedding timeline to allow for Beau to be present when we needed him and coordinated with our hired dog handler for pick up and drop off on the wedding day. We are super thankful for their customer service and will always board Beau here whenever we're in MA in the future. Thank you!
Jennifer Guild: I cannot say enough great things about this place or the staff- absolutely above and beyond in so many ways. We left our dog for the week while away on vacation and he struggled with some anxiety being the first time away from us for that long. They were incredibly attentive and picked up on his anxiety, and made accommodations to truly make his stay a more relaxing one. Sarah treated him like her own, Rebecca and Abby sent me updates throughout the week, and I can’t thank them all enough.
Ed Vena: The best people for your dogs!
Cherish Dixon: Wow just wow!!! Thank you, Jeremy!! My sweet multipoo, Kobe went in this morning completely matted. Like a whole HOT MESS. Kobe looks amazing now!! I don't know how or what they did but clearly the Urban Hound hires magicians!!! Not only did they do an amazing job, Jeremy game me instructions on how to best care for Kobe's grooming in the future since my sweet baby has anxiety. Thank you, Urban Hound!!
Jacob V: We have used The Urban Hound for daycare and boarding for our 7 month old puppy, and couldn't be happier. Every time we pick him up, he tries to turn around and go back inside the front door. While it's slightly more expensive than some other places, you absolutely get what you pay for and worth every cent. The facility, staff, and care are seriously top notch.
Zak Knudson: Great facilities in a good location in the south end. However, be aware that they specialize in high priced training programs as a pre-requisite for their day care services. I took my pup for a “trail run” day care day and he was denied entry for “not responding to other dogs cues”. I found this odd because he has regularly attended two other day care services in the area with zero issues. He is a small dog that is not aggressive. Upon denying my dog entry, they then tried to up-sell me into a $2K training program with a 4 month waiting list. I’ve since found several other day care programs nearby that have been much more welcoming for those not willing to commit to a highly expensive training boot camp.
Shila and Dario Gonzalez-Sharifi: I can not express how great our experience has been in The urban hound. My old little boy Diezel is a 10 year old Maltese and has been going to Urban-hound for Grooming , Daycare , training and boarding at hotel since 2011 .My second pupstar Pebbles ( chunky brown Havanese ) joined him in 2018.Grooming department is amazingThey keep up w the latest innovation and trends . They use all delicious Doggo friendly products to JOOJ the Doggos. It is a true spa Day for them . Viki and her team would always give Diezel and Pebbles breed special hair cuts and would change their looks season to season .And after each grooming my little floofs would walk out of the Spa in their brand new season appropriate bandana smelling and looking heavenly.Rebeca the owner is an amazing lady , who truly loves all her doggo students and she chooses her staff accordingly. The Urban hound has been a second home to my fur babies for all their life , they have made many friends both doggo and human at the the urban hound. It’s the placed that when I leave my dogs I know they are as loved and protected that they would be at home with us .
Anna Moreva: I have never written a review before and I am not sure how exactly to write it. I have a dog, and her name is Layla (she is Cavachon) - the most adorable and friendly dog. She is 3 years old now and when she was just about 6 months, I sent her to a groomer - I wish I have never sent her there because her hair cut was so bad - I didn’t even recognize my dog. I became very skeptical about grooming because it is my first dog. Soon enough I was referred to Urban Hound by my neighbors, and I still was skeptical - but, I gave it a shot. Layla’s groomer’s name at Urban Hound is Angela. All I have to say, pure perfection, my dog looks like a teddy bear after every cut and we are booked for 12 months in advance. Excellent service and communication with the groomer is simple and transparent. Just like you don’t change your favorite hairdresser, you don’t change your dog’s groomer ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you. Anna
Alexandra S: Brought my French Bulldog in today for a grooming appointment and was very disappointed. We had used Urban Hound based on a recommendation and were very happy with our first appointment but this one was a bust. I tried calling to express my disappointment and the man who answered, I think his name was Alan, was very rude. I would have gone back to them again if I wasn't met with his hostility on the phone. My concern was that he had poop on his butt when we got him back which they denied. The photo down below shows the remnants left behind from his butt on the car ride home. His nails were not cut properly as seen in the photo. And third, the most important part of taking a Frenchie is the ear cleaning and as you can see from the photo this was not properly done either. There is even more deeper in the ear canal but you cannot see it in the photo. To their credit, they said we could bring him back for another cleaning which I appreciate. But it was the attitude on the phone that will make me never want to bring my puppy back there again.
Taylor Worthy: Great groomers for my goldendoodle! Love the customer experience with online booking, and text communication. My dog always is excited to go and leaves happy.
James D'Ambrosio: Friendly service
Michelle Ai: Always so great with my pet. They keep the place clean, and charge a reasonable amount for daycare. Their grooming service in the south end is also very good. The st Francis downtown location includes walks in the common.
Michael Katz: If you live in the South End, there aren't too many options within walking distance for dog grooming and day care, but that's just fine, because Urban Hound is a quality spot! Their dog groomers, Vicki is amazing, are fantastic and care about how your dog looks. Their day care is great and offers some indoor and outdoor fun to keep your child happy and active. The people at the front desk are great and if you've never been before, stop by and ask for a tour and they are more than happy to show you around and give you the personal tour. Be warned that they are very finicky about your dogs health and will make sure they have all their shots and inspections. Before you drop your child off for daycare, contact them and get a list of what's needed and visit your vet. I'm grateful to have Urban Hound close by and it's nice to know your fur baby is in good hands.
Bob: Clean and caring
Dominik Altheimer: Our pup can't get enough
James Carrico: BAD BOARDING EXPERIENCE. We left our greyhound here for a long weekend (four nights). When we returned, he had a two inch gash in his left knee, a bleeding toe, and sore paws. UH did not say ANYTHING when we picked him up (we did not notice until we walked him home). Have called UH for three days in a row trying to get an explanation, and they have yet to pick up the phone so I am not sure if they were oblivious to the whole thing or if they were hoping we wouldn't notice (as if). I don't know what else to say but we will never go near this place again.
Stanley Taylor: I've used The Urban Guys for many years. Each and every time the care they provide my dog is excellent.
James Faucher: I have had my dog groomed at Urban Hound several times. Yesterday I need to have him stay there for the day. I was assured he would be in an area with similar size dogs. Mac is a 20 Lakeland Terrier. He ha stayed at many other day cares and has always had a great time.Apparently, when my husband picked him up he was told by some young lady," Mac almost failed day care." She said, "He sat in a corner and shivered all day."I spoke to someone when I got home and was told there was a person in the room with the dogs and that the other dogs had been coming a long time. I have a real sense that who ever was in the room with the dog Was just sitting on his phone.Mac is a sweet friendly dog. He is great with people and other dogs. If this moron who was in the room made an effort to engage him, he might have had a better day.I would never send any of my dogs there again. I would never recommend it to any of the dog owners on Beacon Hill.

Elliot's House LLC - HQ 1: what do users think?
Angela Cunningham: Tried to reach out by phone and several times over email to see about getting my dog in daycare, but no one has returned my inquiries.
Leanne Dwyer: I was pleased with Elliot's House services at first - the online system was easy to use and the phone Meet & Greet was detailed and professional. However, I scheduled 3 visits - a Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening - but no one came on the Saturday evening...One of my cats takes medication in the evening for a heart condition, and luckily he is okay, but I won't be using Elliot's House service again. I can't risk my cat's health.
Ryan Osborne: Excellent service for furry friends! We’ve always received friendly, reliable service for our cat while out of town.
dave di: Too expensive and they mislead their prices
Michelle Barczykowski: My very tired Pepper had a great time boarding with all her doggie friends this week! We love Elliot's House for all their great care and services. Day care has been amazingly helpful to my family. No need to keep her crated up at home for a long day, waiting for a walk because Pepper can spend the day playing instead.
Michael Johnston: This is a picture of a very tired cattle dog and it is very hard to get a cattle dog tired but everyday that she attends daycare at Elliot's House in Somerville, she comes home just like this, TIRED! Every day that we pull up out front, she goes crazy, she loves this place and she loves the people that work here. The staff are such wonderful people and really seem to enjoy the animals and their job. I love the Instagram photos that they post throughout the day and my wife and I love to sit and watch them when we get home and boy do we laugh. So creative. I was really nervous about leaving my pup someplace and checked out a lot of places and am very glad we landed here. If you are out there looking for a quality day care provider for your pup/dog, here it is!!!!!
Turner Smith: We have used Elliot's House for dog walking, grooming, and boarding for years and could not be happier. They are responsible, trustworthy, and so good with our pups. The dogs always come back from boarding exhausted and happy. And Elliot's House has gone above and beyond to help us in other situations, like stopping by to check on things when we were out of town. We would recommend them to anyone we know!
Ali Jackson: Elliot's House goes above and beyond to help their customers! We used them all the time when we lived in Somerville, and missed them when we moved out to the suburbs. We hadn't been to them in a while, but when we were in a last minute bind for boarding, they bent over backwards to help us, taking our dog super last minute and accommodating our pick up drop off requests. Would definitely recommend!
Liz Weiler: Elliot’s House provides dependable and personalized service. I am so happy that we found them when we moved into the city. Our senior pugs have been lovingly care for and Elliot House has accommodated their elderly needs. Highly recommend!!
Lauren Scott: Easy to book, easy to change the schedule; you can access your own calendar at any time to make sure that is accurate. I love this feature.Very reliable and nice walkers (I've met 3 on their team)Thanks Elliot's House!
V Soileau: Elliot's House provided outstanding care to our two fur babies. I received pictures via text with a nice message on how our doggies were doing each day. I will definitely be using their services again.
Jennifer Buynitzky: I've been using Elliott's for a couple of months - since I got my new Bassett hound, Eugene, in December last year. They have been great with daily walks, pet sitting and kennel services. I really appreciate the text messages with a picture on the day's a walker comes to take him out for some exercise. It's wonderful to get those pictures while I'm in crazy meetings at work!
Rebecca Greenblum: Shemish has come out of her shell since she has been a part of Elliot’s house
Cindy S.: I have a bullie who has stayed at Elliot's house twice while we were away. I have nothing but good things to say! Our little potato loves going there and is treated like family! I will continue to use their services.
HH N: Kaito loves being picked up to go to daycare! He looks out the window from the 12th floor for the van... After daycare, we can tell that he has dissipated energy playing with his buds, allowing for him to act very civilized and content when we return home from work. We're happy that he's happy.
Jamster: Personable and very accommodating. Treats pets will, and even sends you pictures during the dog walk!! Love!!
KEMS Com: $140 for pet grooming service on a standard poodle when the quote was $130. Pick up and drop off service I wasn't aware of until the night before. I would have rather dropped him off so I could meet the groomer and see the facilities. My dog is afraid of crates but none of the employees told me he would be created most of the time. He came back looking like a labradoodle and not a standard poodle cut.Would not recommend this grooming service for a large dog. I used the dog walking service and it was ok.
Francisco Diaz: Don't waste your time and money on these incompetent people. My dog went for a "trial boarding" then they tried to charge me and say that my dog was not fit for their program because he dug a hole in their apparently amazing 7000 sq foot outdoor area where dogs can play and be dogs...
Judith M: I've been using Elliot's House since we moved to Somerville in January, and I'm so happy we found them! Their dog walkers are wonderful and my lab, George, absolutely adores them. The dog walkers always send the sweetest text updates (with photos!) - it's so comforting to receive them at work, knowing George is being taken care of and having a blast. The staff is absolutely lovely, and Valerie - who I've corresponded with multiple times, sometimes to cancel dog walks last minute - is incredibly kind and helpful. One of my favorite aspects of Elliot's House is how easy it is to set up a dog walk (or any other service you might need). Once you create an account, you can easily set it up on their website. They even have a calendar set up so you can see who's walking your dog on what day and time.I would highly recommend checking out Elliot House! They're trustworthy, responsive, accommodating - what more do you need?
Misael Phillip: Excellent service. Love These guys. They love my puppy also. I gave them A+++++.Elliot's house is best for walking, boarding, pet sitting and grooming. You can trust Elliot's House for your beloved Pet. Highly recommended...
Julie B: This is the spot! The workers at Elliot House love your pet as their own. This is a multi-service pet place that walks, boards, and just really pampers your pets. All the employees love animals so much and the constant instagram and Facebook updates allow you to feel connected to your fur babies even when they aren't with you. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.

The Dog Retreat and Spa: what do users think?
Therea Graziosi: East drop off and pick up. Grooming 5 stars
Barbara Pryor: My experience at The Dod Retreat was excellent. From the first contact by phone to make an appointment to get my dog groomed and the actual grooming, all was exceptional. Thank you.
Sydney G: This place is the best! We’d had difficulty finding a groomer who was able to handle our puppy’s crazy behavior, and Sophie was incredible with our little pooch!! He looks more handsome than ever. The handoff and pickup could not have been more seamless, we’ll absolutely be coming back here!!
Amanda Maddalone: We love the Dog Retreat and Spa! Our pup, Zissou, seems to really enjoy it as well! :) She is always happy when she arrives and happy when we pick her up! The staff is always so friendly! We love that there is plenty of space ( both outdoor and indoor) at the Dog Retreat so Zissou can relax when she wants a break from playing. We also appreciate all the pictures they share! Highly recommend!
Holly Fawcett: Such a amazing and enriching space for your curious and active pups to go.
Mary Simcox: My standard poodle, Zoey, had her first grooming visit today at The Dog Retreat and Spa. Her haircut is perfect. My husband said it is "her best ever!." We were greeted promptly and both Zoey and I felt welcome and well cared for at pick-up and drop off. Jalene is experienced in "all things" dog, providing advice on feeding and nail maintenance for Zoey and help managing visits from Zoey's cousin, Australian Shepherd, Ferris. Hoping this is just the start of a great relationship.
Michael Jones: We love our little dog so much and we are so happy that we send him to the Dog Retreat and Spa for care. The staff is great, attentive and responsible, everything we could hope for!
Ernie Balabanis: Very professional grooming operation. My dog looks great
Alisa Billings: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ResponsivenessThe Dog Retreat was recommended to me, and our puppy Bandit, has made new friends and gets to run around, which makes us very happy. Very friendly and helpful staff, very easy to register online.
Thomas Ahn: Friendly staff. Clean place. Lots of areas for the dogs to roam. Love how they send report cards with pictures.
Barbara Parisi: Teddy has been begs for half and full day daycare as well as a few overnight stays. Each time he has been happy & well cared for as well as anxious to return. I have no hesitation in recommending The Dog Retreat and Spa highly. The owners and staff truly care for the dogs in their care.
Katharine Mathews: The Dog Retreat is wonderful! My boy Gus LOVES his days there and I feel great knowing he is having a blast in a safe and clean place with incredible staff.
me today: I've been taking my dog here since the Spring of 2022 and there are not enough words to describe how wonderful they are with her. The nail trim is better than what the vets office did, she doesn't leave shaking, actually she doesnt even run for the door, she hesitates to sniff and check things out. They also did a great job with her and a bath. I have friends who take there fury kids to day care here and also rave about how good they are. 100 stars 🌟
Anne Giovanoni: Our pup loves his days at The Dog Retreat and Spa. He is always running to get in the door and exhausted when he gets home. The staff is extremely caring and the faculty is amazing.
Yvette Yegumians: I took my doodle pup in for a groom and they did a terrific job … cut him exactly as I’d asked and my pup came back not traumatized … would recommend them highly… and I’ll will be returning for sure.
Harry Singh: Amy is fabulous and always takes good care of our four legged family member.
Matthew Schofield: The Dog Retreat and Spa is our pup’s favorite place! The staff are wonderful and so caring to her. She has been going since she was a puppy and the facility is just the best. She also gets groomed there during her daycare or boarding stays.
Sylvie Houbart: I had my mini-poodle groomed there for the first time. The groomer kindly listened to my - many - preferences/requests. Two hours later, I picked up my dog and he looked great - best cut he has ever had. The groomer did exactly what I was hoping for. When a question arose during the grooming, she called to check with me. I am very impressed, as I have been to other groomers with very mixed results. The staff is welcoming, kind and professional. I have already booked my next appointment.
Emma Crooker: My dog attends the retreat and spa for both day care and boarding. He loves to play with other dogs and always seems so happy when we pick him up. The staff are always quick to answer any questions and they always send awesome pictures and a report card home after each session. I would recommend them to anyone.
Paul Nelson: Really happy, zero complains!
Kelly Krown: Not a Mistake of location!!!! Waltham right near blue pearl, Smells terrible there! Looks like and smells like they Never clean the place!!! The outdoor spaced are i'm disgusted when you step on the grass you can hear how wet the ground is full of urine!!!!!!! Dogs barking and going crazy is what ive seen. Would never bring my dog there ever!

Harbor Hounds: what do users think?
Kelly Hopley Weis: The Harbor Hounds crew takes amazing care of our puppy; such great care that we can’t even say the words “day care” at home because she gets so excited to go! We often times joke about her being “daycare wasted” because she has so much fun that she comes home exhausted!Hands down the best money we spend each week - even better knowing we are supporting a kickass Woman owned business!Sara and her team care so much about each dog and the love they have for our pets is palpable. Thanks for everything you do for us, Harbor Hounds team!
Merisa Ajazi: Sara and crew are absolutely amazing, and my pup loves going to daycare every week! Just the word daycare gets her excited, because she knows she gets to hang with all her friends. HH always posts updates on their social media throughout the day and it's not only nice to get the update, but I love seeing all the enrichment activities going on. Their outdoor space is great (especially in the summer) and you just can't find another facility like this in the city. 10/10 recommend!!
Emily Williams: Izzy looks forward to her weekly visits! I love having such a professional and personalized daycare for my little lady! Every employee is amazing and really cares about your pup!
Jessica Corr: We are lucky to have found a spot at Harbor Hounds for the last 2 years. Sara and the team are amazing with the dogs and post great video content throughout the day. Having adopted a rescue during Covid that had some socialization issues, going to Harbor Hounds has really helped him. We also recommend their grooming services. Sara and the team are fun but also patient and we are so fortunate! Highly recommend ! 🤗🐕
Juan Gabarro: This is a great doggy daycare. There's no better endorsement than how eager my dog is to run into Harbor Hounds when I drop him off in the morning. And my Shiba is a rescue (we're his fourth family), wary of strangers, skittish and an escape artist so it says a lot to me that he feels safe and comfortable at Harbor Hounds. Before accepting a dog, they make sure all the dogs get along which is fantastic from my perspective. I think they have the luxury of doing that because there has historically been quite a long wait list. My dog has benefited noticeably from the socialization with dogs and people. Oh, and the hours at HH are great!
Chantelle Persac: Sara and her team are BY FAR the best in the business. They treat my pup, and each pup, as if they were their own. They are kind, compassionate and knowledgeable....and FUN! My dog runs to the front door of Harborhounds each morning, that is proof enough that he loves being there!!!
Hayley Richards: A lot of people got dogs during COVID so I feel that it’s important to shine a light on some of the best dog daycare places in Boston. The owner of Harbor Hounds, Sara, and her team are AMAZING. They are all incredibly knowledgeable, reliable and trustworthy. They truly love our dogs and care for them as if they are their own. Our dogs are always so happy to go and come home in the best moods. These photos are from when they were both boarded with Sara (who watches them personally - which is amazing) and they were SO happy. I’m not sure who had a better vacation, us or the dogs 😂.That said, whenever we send our dogs to either daycare or boarding, we have full confidence and literally never worry. I can’t say enough good things about and we are so happy to be a part of the HH family.
Deanna Reiss: We've been sending our pup here for the last month or so after his previous daycare closed unexpectedly. To say he loves it is an understatement! He is so excited to go in and is exhausted when he gets home (we get two days of peace because day after daycare he enjoys sleeping off his daycare hangover as well). He's made so many positive associations and friends through daycare; when we walk him he now runs up happily to dogs we've never seen before and are never surprised to hear that the dog is also a harbor hound! They do a great job keeping us updated through social media (Instagram stories) so I'm always confident he is safe, happy and having a blast. They also gave him a bath once and my goodness he smelled phenomenal for about 2 weeks!Cannot recommend Sara and her crew enough!
Mackenzie McNeill: We began bringing our newly rescued, very social dog to Harbor Hounds about 6 months ago. We cannot believe how lucky we are to have Sara and her business in our life! All employees truly care about your dog, post regular updates on social media of your pup, and are extremely responsive and accommodating. I cannot imagine bringing our pup anywhere else
Andre daSilva: Great place inside and out with friendly staff
kevin wilson: Some of the nicest people you will ever meet
Henry Lopez: I personally know the owner, and she's very goo in taking care of your pet.
Mary Jane Skidds: So passionate about dogs and great people!!!
Anne Jensen: Sara and her team are absolutely the BEST!!!!! I’ve never felt so comfortable leaving my frenchie, Flash, anywhere else. Unlike some other daycares, Harbor Hounds provide so much structure. Since going to Harbor Hounds, Flash’s training has improved tremendously. Flash goes sprinting into Harbor Hounds and I actually have to drag or carry him out at the end of the day. We love Harbor Hounds!!!
Bri Cummiskey: Our dog Sailor has been coming here since she was only a few weeks old. She is now a year and a half and we are still just as in love with this place. All the girls that work here genuinely love dogs and it shows. My dog has recently been difficult on leash and they 100% make her personality work with other dogs. Sailor has also made TONS of friends and is absolutely pooped when she gets home (which we love ). Even if we leave east Boston we will probably make the trip up to bring her, since it's so hard to find a place this trust worthy. 10/10 for Sara and her doggy loving gang!
Nicole Clement: Sara and the team at Harbor Hounds are no less than amazing! I know when I drop my dog Lily off that she is going to have fun, get her energy out playing with her friends, and be safe and cared for all day. They take great care of our dogs and I wouldn't trust Lily any where else. The team creates a real connection with the dogs, and I know when I drop Lily off, she can't wait to get inside and greet her human friends! This place is the best!!
Ngoc Giang: Wow i can’t believe the fake negative reviews that was posted here. What grade are we in? If you want a loving and safe place, than you bring your dog to Harbor Hounds where Sara, Brianna and the rest of crew will love and take care of your dog like if it was their own dog. My wife and I have brought our pup Milo to HH since he was 4 months old and he still gets excited every morning we drop him off.
Debbie Shufro: Best place in Eastie to bring your pup! Everyone is so friendly and they take amazing care of your dog. Briana is amazing with grooming and I feel very comfortable leaving my dogs there! Would recommend to anyone who needs a good groomer and/or doggie day care!
Fatima Guevara: Sara and her team are legit godsent! My dog Arthur has a lot of anxiety and they make him feel like he is at home. I never have to worry about him and his anxiety when he is at harbor hounds! They have Halloween parties, pictures with Santa etc - they really go that extra mile for our babies! If you are looking for a place to take care of your dogs while you are working HARBOR HOUNDS is the way to go! 😊
Kerry M.: Sara and the crew at Harbor Hounds are AMAZING! We recently rescued a dog from a shelter and were somewhat unsure of his past/experience with other dogs and if daycare in general would be a good fit for him. Sara took so much time out of her day to meet with us and see if Bailey would enjoy the day care. She even had him stop by for a half day to get him acclimated and ease him in/see how if he enjoyed it. She kept us updated the whole time on Bailey and put us at so much ease leaving him. He now goes weekly and he LOVES day care so much. I have never seen him so happy upon drop off (and tired upon pick up!) I can't thank them enough for taking the time to get to know him and make sure he was a good fit and for keeping us updated/at ease at all times. HH was by far the best thing we have done for Bailey and we are so grateful for Sara!
Dina Dimazo: Great groomer! Little tough to find but it's a gem when u do. Brianna did a fabulous job on my yorkie mix. Definitely make an appointment. U wont be disappointed.

Pet Express: what do users think?
Michael Ferry: They have a great assortment of puppies to choose from
Billy Hallahan: Cute place to bring yourself when you want to buy a pet..
Ellie Grace: Places like these need to be taken down. It's incredibly inhumane to have a living thing in such a small, glass cage with kids banging on the windows all day. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Jonathan Heben: Great place to buy pets! They had over 12 dogs on display at the time of my visit.
Dominic Tamburello: The pups were over priced and so are their products but they do allow you to fool around with the dogs behind the glass unlike some pet stores and there is always one pup you can pet
Dena Furey: It seemed a little chaotic and the manager had a bit of a passive attitude.
Tom Riley: Nice store but I asked girl about LG aquarium. In store is it salt water or reg. She replays I don't know.
Karla Rivas: This is just sad.
Jay Ramos: This place is horrible. All pups look so sad/ or sleeping. They also drink from a tube. What place treats animals this way?! Not to mention there were 3 girls at the register talking laughing on their phones. Not one came to see if anyone there needed any help. Hire people that actually CARE about these poor animals environment.
Jeffrey Marquez: Excellent pet store
Scott C: They don’t allow you to meet or interact with the puppies. They can take them out and play with them for you. What a joke. Overpriced. Find a local breeder
Alexis Winchell: Disgusted with this store , 2 different puppies took a number #2 & then ate it after as we were standing there , most of the puppies you could see there ribs , they all looked dirty , it’s disgusting how they have these puppies & don’t take care of them. These puppies need bigger spaces & more care for them cause obviously no one seems to care .
Ace Starfire: Got my pup Sox from here. Puppies are highly priced and come with a lot of toys and extra items that honestly I don't require but we're given to me anyways that was included in the price. Wish there was a way where you could buy the puppy without all the extra included toys. Some of the items they include in the kit are useful but the toys were a bit excessive. Other than that my puppy seems to be happy and healthy for now.
Jemi Luna: Nice store
Benjamin: Adopt dog
michel garcia: One of the best places I've ever seen. with special care for the puppies
Guisnel Gonzalez: It was the best day thank you for everything Please keep your store I don’t want you to close down and the employees are nice very nice and the inside is really cute even the outside it’s the best Adoption in in the world The world has to know this
Donny Wolf: Small....only seemed to tend to some dogs they had for adoption....Nothing for any other animal but dogs....maybe some cat food but that's it.
top joker goop: Way to much money for mutts
Holly Browning: I got a wonderful pug 4 years ago from pet Express . I was very lucky . No health problems . Thank god . I am seeing horrible reviews that these puppy’s r from puppy mills . I hope not . That is very sad way to make money . That would say a lot about pet Express if this is true . It means they don’t care about animals and only the money .
EL PULPO: Worst customer service... Had to wait about 15 minutes to pay for one item because the young lady at the front was going over the paperwork for a dog she just sold... Ok I get it, they are spending $5K plus and I'm spending $5 on a little stick for my dog, but when another associate finally comes out from the back, he goes to take care of another customer that wasn't even in the line... Also, I feel that good customer service would have been if the young lady let the other guy know that she was going to be tied up on a sale...

Dogwood Cottage: what do users think?
Brendan B: My doggo loves going here. Always excited to arrive and super content when I pick him up.
Meredith Grabek O'Connell: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueOur Luna visited Dogwood about twice a week for a year before we moved. We loved the community there and the staff. Luna always came home exhausted, and she would try to pull us in the Dogwood direction when we’d leave home for a walk. Loved it!
Nick Valley: Our chocolate lab Samson has been attending Dogwood Cottage for over a year now and we couldn’t be happier. He loves going there and they seem to love having him as well. He’s obviously getting a workout as he falls asleep almost as soon as he gets home. Also he’s clean with no order after playing there all day. We cannot say the same about other places he has attended when he would come home smelling of urine. We are very pleased with our Dogwood Cottage experience and heartily recommend them to anyone looking for a great experience for their dog.Brian D.
Laura McCormack: I have been taking my 1.5 year old Golden Doodle to Dogwood for the past year and I cannot say enough great things about the staff and family there. They treat Bingley as though he is their dog and I know he is always safe. He is so well cared for and I never worry about him being there. The staff members give me a run down of his day when I pick him up, letting me know what he did and who he played with. Bingley has some separation anxiety issues, but with how wonderful everyone here is, he never has an issue going in to play. Everyone cares so deeply for the dogs and puts them first. Additionally, their prices are reasonable, the location is always clean, and they are always available to talk if needed.
David Gray: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ResponsivenessOscar has been going to Dogwood for more than 4 years and is just as excited to arrive now as then. Staff is very friendly and professional, and they communicate well. They have always been accommodating and even picked him up when I had to leave too early for work. I always feel confident he is in good hands. Thanks Dogwood!
meghan dichiara: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ResponsivenessMy dog lives for a day at Dogwood. We love the great daycare, boarding, grooming and the awesome van service!!
Pia Ascenzo-Logan: Our dog Maisie has been going to Dogwood since she was 4 months old and now she is almost 6. When younger, Maisie(a rescue) had some behavioral issues due to pre-adoption trauma. The staff was always encouraging and helpful and worked with Maisie and me. Now that she is a settled adult dog we continue to bring Maisie to daycare to keep her stimulated and social.
Matthew Norraik: Dogwood Cottage in Melrose is simply the best doggy daycare/boarding in the area. We moved to North Reading in May but still make the drive twice a week as we are that sure nobody else will do nearly as good a job in taking care of our boy Tucker. He loves all of the staff, in particular "Aunty" who goes out of her way to ensure he is well loved and exhausted at the end of the day. Omar helped train our dog when he was a puppy and continues to help him as he gets older. Annie who handles more of the operations is extremely organized. She responds in minutes on any request. I am missing out many others who take care of him, some who I see all the time but have yet to ask for their names as our dog goes crazy out of pure excitement on arrival. Highly recommend anybody in the area to check them or Riverdog (Peabody) out.
kyle Spencer: EWWWW
Kevin Fitzgerald: Excellent care for your dog
J. Nathan: This is our go-to for high quality boarding and care. We enjoy how they allow or encourage us to present all of the dogs words and training so they can function the best and keep the dog in a familiar rhythm. We needed extra care for our English bulldog so this is the place we finally found that would take all of the high maintenance requests and return the dog in the same condition we left her. Been using them since 2012 and will continue as a customer. Flexible staff and easy to pick up and drop off. No issues. Thnx
Christopher Savio: Been taking our pup here for the past 4+ years. Love that there are not crates used. The owners are great - really dedicated to making this more than just daycare and boarding.
Lisa Pothier: Happy helpful staff, very well organized and clean. I felt very comfortable leaving my two buddies there!!! Bruschi and Duke!! 🐾
Amanda Abramo: We’ve been sending our 2 year old to Dogwood since she was 16 weeks old, and we couldn’t be happier! The amount of care and love Winnie receives gives us such comfort and reassurance that she’s in the best hands while we’re at work. She starts wagging and wiggling with excitement as soon as we pull up to drop her off in the morning, and can’t wait to see her friends! And when we take her home, she’s usually so exhausted from playing all day that she’s perfectly content snuggling with her dad and I on the couch. And I love seeing the photos of our girl on Facebook and Instagram, she always looks so happy. We absolutely love Dogwood Cottage!
Candy Falvey: I am very happy to recommend Dogwood Cottage to anyone that wishes to board their dog. I find my dog is excited to go and excited to come home and shows no sign of being neglected by their staff. They are extremely accomodating to my needs.
marcia shea: My dog loves it here, always happy to go. Staff are very helpful and friendly
Taryn Kinahan: Great daycare, our dog loves going and always comes home tired....
Ray Chen: “Things are not always what they seem.” I would like to review Dogwood Cottage based on this quote and tell you our (husband and wife) three-year adventure with our Portuguese Water Dog, Darwin at Dogwood Cottage.Darwin is a four-year-old PWD; full of love, fun, energy, and anxiety. We sent him to Dogwood for daycare twice a week for the last three years, ever since he was one. What’s not to like? The owners seemed nice, people who worked there appeared to be happy, and our dog comes home every time exhausted. However, we did notice there was a really high employee turnover rate the past couple of years. That should have been a larger "red flag" than we personally allowed it to be. Why do the employees keep leaving? How does this ultimately correlate with how our dogs are being treated and handled?Up until this past September we had a great relationship with the staff and owners of Dogwood Cottage. Upon every pick-up and drop-off we were told Darwin was great and everyone appeared to be happy to see him. At this past September's Melrose Victorian Fair we stopped by the Dogwood Cottage booth and were once again told how great Darwin has been. Literally, a few days later, we get a call from the owner, “Darwin has been super anxious, not listening to commands and policing other dogs for a while (as in several weeks), he needs to take a break from here.” No amount of shock can describe what we heard. Why weren’t we told this earlier? Why have we been misled and essentially lied to for the past several weeks when telling us that our dog has been great? Is this how all long time customers are treated? Per the owner, “We try to manage and train the dogs here, so we don’t tell the owners.” We highly disagree with this policy as it does not allow the owner the opportunity to address and fix the situation until it is too late. Until the dog has been kicked out of daycare. We have since learned on average, only 2 employees are assigned to the "large dog room" which is continuously booked to full capacity of 25 large dogs. That is one person to 12.5 large dogs. We have consulted with multiple professional dog trainers since this incident and they have all agreed that is too many dogs to one person. And sadly, the employees of Dogwood Cottage are not trained dog care professionals. It is no wonder some of them leave and why some issues do arise with dogs like ours. It makes their “don’t tell the parents their dog is misbehaving while we manage it until it’s too late” policy even worse. What about all the stellar five star reviews? Well, we sent Darwin there happily for three years and if this incident didn’t happen, we wouldn’t have known the truth. In hindsight, we realize now there was/is no way for a dog owner to truly know or see what is going on behind closed doors. Owners are only allowed in the front lobby. There is zero visibility into the back play yards and no cameras. Dogwood does post pictures online but like all pictures one can pick and choose what one wants to show. While our dog came home exhausted and physically in the same shape as we left him, we will never know if he was mentally treated well.My advice is buyers be aware. If your dog is perfectly behaved, low stress in large group situations without trained personnel and less than the adequate amount of people caring for the amount of dogs present, you can consider taking your dog there. But if you would like to have at least one trained person per 5-8 dogs, people knowing how to deal with dogs with high energy, anxiety, and stress in group play, not withholding information about your dog, you should not come here. We will never return and will warn all others.Lastly, as an update. We have gotten professional dog training for Darwin to address his anxiety. Within three sessions he is a completely different (in a good and improved way) dog. If we would have been told about his "policing" tendencies we could have nipped that in the bud quickly and not be in this current situation.
Patrick A Ruster: Great job with my pooch. Especially accommodating for last minute stays. It helps that they seem to love him....

Animal Rescue League of Boston: what do users think?
MANISH KANDUKURI: Very good place and employees as very caring!
Jasmine B: We go here for training classes for our dog and I’m so impressed with how much I’ve learned. Our trainer, Summer, is helpful, dedicated, and cares about every dog in class. We will certainly be doing more training classes here, I highly recommend this location for any training classes.
Renee modlin: The rescue league is just as serious as I am about animal cruelty. They were sure to follow up several times AND involved the Boston Police who also followed up.
Jonathan Dasilva: My boyfriend Chandler and I adopted Lavina a couple of weeks ago! She's the cutest thing! We're adopting another puppy in a couple days as well! Staff is very nice!
xue jie: About a week ago my bf and I adopted our perfect dog Bilbo (AKA Ross), we had great experiences there - clean environment and animals were receiving lots of love from the staff! We feel very lucky to have Bilbo, he is the sweetest guy and very well-behaved despite being a 7-month-old baby! Thank you ARL-Boston for making this happen!!
Annaliese Tubbs: I went and gave money after me and my friend saved up all year! they were SO thankful and I am planning a huge bake sale to raise money to donate again! Thank you for helping animals in need Animal Rescue League of Boston! I am also planning when I can to maybe come and adopt an animal!
Luisa Salazar: 3 years ago I adopted my cat in this place, but today I visited the place to take a donation and adopt another cat, the woman at the reception a whole love, but when the manager of the place came to talk to us I had a terrible experience, she has no empathy, her treatment was rude and grotesque, she was sad and disappointed after having had a good experience years ago,Adopting is the best option but you always want to have a good experience when you visit a place, it makes me sad that she is the manager of a place to adopt someone who will be part of your family
Angela Allard: They are awesome at the Boston Animal rescue League. They have the most wonderful and caring people you will ever have the privilege to meet. They are absolutely wonderful. They helped us find our girl. When we went out (from Worcester) there to see the dog they felt he wasn't a good match for us, and they were right. When we got back home, I sad so disappointed. We told them again what we were looking for, and they said they would keep their eyes open for us and said they would do their best to find us what we needed to complete our. When we get home that night they sent us a picture of our baby. Right away we knew she belonged home. We went back out the next day, spent some time with her, took her home that day and she hasn't been back since. Our forever girl found us. We've had our little girl for two years now. We couldn't love her anymore.Thank you Boston ARL for completing our family,The Allard'sDavid, Angela and Charli ❤️
Susan Zangari: Was checking g to see availability of dogs for adoption.
Holly Snoop&Fuzzy: my favorite local shelter. So much so that ARL is Beneficiary in my Will. Hopefully, ARL has a tow company arrangement for vehicle donation. The MS PAWS Mobile is 20 trs old and "done". Will be donated to charity.
DEE KO: I went to the Boston location & I was adopted by a tabby Cat, he chose me!
Jacob Dong: In the afternoon, I was bored with my girlfriend and wanted to go to shelter for a walk. I came across a new litter of puppies. One of them was a black one, which we saw at first sight, and the staff kept telling us to make sure there was no one in line ahead of us to see the litter. After an hour of waiting, we finally got in line, and the staff knew we were next and adopted the dog with an another family. We double-checked that the puppy was not reserved, first come, first served, and that family came after us. Later communication with the staff was useless, only admitting their mistakes but not solving any practical problems. The most outrageous is telling us that we can't punish another family for their shelter's mistakes, implying that we have to accept their mistakes? Just don't go to this shelter to get angry 🙏
Greg Ivey: Great place to volunteer!
Andrew Capostagno: I highly recommend adopting from here. Such a great place with a very friendly staff who definitely care for the animals well.
Kelly Miller: We recently had our cat neutered through the Franklin Park Spay Wagin'. It was a great experience! The staff was wonderful and the incision healed beautifully. Highly recommend if you are in need of low cost vet care.
Julor Hart: I called them about a lost guinea pig and talked to someone there. I was told that I would receive a call back and someone would come out that week to get him .. I never received a call or any type of reconntion after calling back a second time. I know nothing about guinea pigs and it was almost impossible to get to talk to someone about him.. now the guinea pig is extremely sick and I feel like a bad person because of his current condition. IT IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INHUMANE TO HEAR OF A ABANDONED ANIMAL AND DO NOTHING!!
Raza Shirazi: Caitlin and Michelle is who I spoke with. Very unprofessional staff including managers and very unfriendly welcoming. They basically want to keep pets which are all nice and easy going. Generally speaking they won’t help u with your situation and rather run their business.
Rose M. Gottschalk (Wonderland): Its a very caring place. However if you plan on trying to volunteer, you would have to pay for change to be picked to trained last time I checked it was 12$ or 15$? To hold a spot or something??
Paul M.: Very nice and clean,
Bobby Carapellucci (Bobby Cap): Friendly staff.
Peter Donnelly Jr.: Everybody is so nice and helpful.Csn get the pet of your dreams there.
