It was the end of the month and I had a full day of moving and a crew of guys ready to help us with finishing moving out of our factory before we incurred another month's rent. I had a truck reserved with Budget after numerous attempts calling over weeks with no answer from the local branch. Then finally I was able to make a reservation with Budget days prior only to find that when I showed up to pickup the truck they didn't have a truck for me and they didn't even call to let me know they were overbooked by 12 trucks!!I immediately pulled off the side of the road and frantically called and everyone was booked solid. Then just as I was about to give up, I called Ryder and spoke with Taylor who was AWESOME! He found me a truck just 5 minutes from where I was parked and at a really reasonable rate. He even called ahead to the branch and they had it ready for me for a quick and easy pickup. The truck was 1 year old in perfect condition and super clean. I was impressed by how thorough their COVID policies were.The Ryder team and Taylor truly saved the day! Thank you!!!!! You've just earned a customer for life!

As a small independently operated company, it’s difficult to get the same special treatment and perks larger moving companies may benefit from.My experience with Ryder and their rental program has always been fantastic, so much so that I secured a 3-year lease with Ryder for a 26 footer that will soon have a Baby Boomer Mover decal.The primary reason I did that is simply because because of the staff. Taylor Tavarozzi and Jimmy work the operations desk in South Boston. It doesn’t matter if I call or send email after hours, Taylor and Jimmy always answer the phone. They both reply to my emails promptly and know exactly who I am. That makes me feel GREAT important respected and appreciated regarding my cargo transportation moving needs.I cant say enough good things about these 2 impressive young working professionals. Taylor and Jimmy in my opinion are hire-able in any industry they hold interest. This speaks volumes about Ryder south Boston and Ryder corporate hiring practices. Leanna Deandre: Driver Intentionally blocked up a residential street . Stockton st was blocked for about 5/6 minutes while he ran back and forth , scanned and dropped off packages . He tried to argue with me when I asked him to pull over in the spot that is CLEARLY OPEN / AVAILABLE. He continued to get back in the van and retrieve more packages for delivery . I did call the company as well . I let them know I have pictures .‘I also have videos of it . NOBODY should be yelled at by a delivery driver on duty ; ESPECIALLY when he’s in the wrong for holding up traffic this way . I had my grandmother and kids in the car . I was scared and this was far from okay. I have used the services and will not anymore . I refuse to give a penny to people who employ such classless and careless individuals.

Erin King: This is not a Penske location, but a Landbird location which is a partner of Penske. I arranged to return my one-way cargo van rental here and showed up during business hours to a locked door and nobody there. Apparently Landbird is doing remote drop-off/pick-up only. It was snowing heavily and the parking lot had not been plowed since no employees bothered to show up to work, so I was unable to park (no traction) and had to go all the way to Medford instead. The Landbird representative on the phone was not helpful at all.

Per my husband, it was easy to dive and loved that there was a back up camera. Drop off return was seamless. I will never use UHaul again. Penske all the way.
Van Tetzner: Called the Penske in Brighton, I was answered promptly - I asked about availabilities for specific dates, and he said he will have to give me another number for those dates. He didn't explain that this other number would be a different location than the one he worked at. When I called the next location, no matter how may extensions I tried, they apparently hung up before the fourth ring because I got a tone saying "the caller did not answer the call at this time, thank you for calling Penske"No wonder the company is on a steady decline.

I was showing a cargo van ( which they do not rent one way) and then was checked out under the impression that that’s what I would receive. I was instead given a truck, And because they filled out the paperwork for a vehicle I did not request there were no repercussions and I was stuck with the larger vehicle.
Adam ada: Good, friendly service overall. The only bad part of the experience was having to wait an extra hour for them to transfer the truck from another location. Wouldn't have been an issue if they had let us know earlier. It was a little annoying and inconvenient to have to kill an hour nearby while we waited. Otherwise the truck was great, the price was unmatched (1 day+night rental was $20-30 cheaper than a same-day-only Uhaul rental for the distance we needed).

Andrew Hatcher: I went first to the location listed on Maps on 6/23/22 as open, on 70 Kemble St, but it was closed and there was no U-Haul sign. I called the next nearest location and he didn't have boxes but sent me to the Massachusetts Avenue location. There, there was a half hour wait for the one counter person just to buy the boxes. It sounded from his conversation with other customers as if they had no trucks available for several days at any nearly locations. The guy at the counter was courteous and professional. He told me he thought it was a long time since U-Haul was open at the 70 Kemble Street location.
Rey Duran: Don’t expect to get access to your truck rental if after hours. I showed up and couldn’t get any kind of access code. Customer service over the phone and online was either horridly slow, useless, or nonexistent. Ended up canceling my rental.

Andrew Farrell: I was helped by a gentleman (Began with "L" but I forget his name) and I gotta say, in a world of dwindling customer service I was provided with the best customer service I have gotten in a long time. I started my day to pick up a truck to move out of a storage unit so I was obviously not looking forward to the long day ahead. "L" was personable, nice, friendly, extremely helpful, the process took a very short amount of time, I could go on. Honestly, my mood that day was drastically improved due to my encounter with this very nice guy and it is important to me to call it out.. and for him to be recognized. I will only rent from Penske going forward. Highly recommend. Pricing was better than competitors as well.
Russell Laverty: Now that Uhaul has increased their mileage rates so high, Penske's 79 cents per mile is very attractive if you're putting on some miles, enough to cover their $60 insurance, 4x that of U-Haul.
Erin King: I had a pleasant experience returning my one-way cargo van rental to this Penske location. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Patrick Rogers: -charged my credit card for 5 days when I had truck for 2-charged for damages they can't explain-refunded some of damages but then went back on that agreement and claimed I owed again-local office won't return emails or calls so I had to contact corporate office to resolve issues (still not resolved)-truck had speed wobbles at 55mph and was bucking at 60mph. Very unsafe but could not report to them for fear of getting charged for it. Subsequently next rental will be dangerous also.-would not reccomend. Might save a few bucks on their rates but not worth the troubleUpdate: tried to resolve the issue as their owner suggested in comment below. Don't be fooled. They never even responded to me.
Alice Lee: Their pricing was better than others and it was less costly to rent here and have the truck for 24 hours vs a handful of hours. We were able to drop off the truck sooner even though they were closed and at our convenience. The truck was immaculately clean inside and out. We had to ask for instructions on how to pull the ramp out, etc. it is surprising they rent trucks and hand over the keys with no instructions, like avoid Storrow drive. They take a deposit and once you return and they check the mileage and gas level, they promptly refund your deposit. I would rent from them again.
Ryan: Worst moving experience of all time. Truck was rented from the Home Depot off Rt 1 in Saugus and they messed up our reservation. The truck was 4 hours late and made for the absolute worst moving situation of my life. The Medford location responsible for the truck did not even apologize for the inconvenience and offered a pathetic 20% refund. Do not use these guys if you have a move or care about your time!!!

Yoni Gray: My U-Haul rental fell through and I was panicking. Gino at Penske took my call just as they were about to close and went out of his way to help. The truck was way nicer than the ones at U-Haul, and you can't beat the customer service. Yes they're more expensive, but I'm a Penske customer from now on.

Chris Barrett: Very easy to work with. After having a truck reserved with Uhaul for a week, the day before I was to pick up I got a call from uhaul telling me they could no longer provide a truck; 10am on a Friday 2 days before the 1st of the month (when everybody needs a moving truck). Penske not only worked with me to find and rent a truck, the GM of the Medford location guaranteed there would be a truck (which is what I thought a reservation did) which was a lot of weight off my shoulders inna stressful time. Couldnt speak more highly of the GM and Penske.

Kevin Smith: Terrible experience. I arrived on a Tuesday to pick up a truck from this location and came back on Friday to return it. When I arrived I immediately noticed that my van was not in the parking lot. Went inside and was told that they had it towed because it was a "competitor's vehicle". It was a Hertz van but nobody told me that I couldn't park it there when I arrived and multiple employees saw me there in the van. No one ever apologized or tried to resolve the issue, I was treated like a criminal and just given the address where they had it tied to. Cost me $178 to get it out. The truck was trash too because the fans and AC didn't work and it was 90° outside. I will admit that all the employees except the scrawny manager were polite but he was rude and unprofessional. I also want to add that I was parked in the customer parking lot and there were other cars parked around me at the time.

I asked to adjust it from the beginning and after 5 month, he says he charged regular price bc I never signed the document. But I didn't know I had to sign the paper bc he never send anything or asked anything. After all I had to $25,000. It's either he forgot to send the document and now just forcing me to pay or intend to do so.

These go through low clearance ones too ( 9.5 ft ) so that's good on Boston's Storrow drive. The vans are newer and come equipped with all safety features as well as apple car play. Never knew vans came so far!

I’ve rented from Peter Fuller twice for summer trips with my family and each time I’ve gotten a basically brand new Ford Expedition Max. This is not the most convenient place for me to go get a rental because I live 12 or so miles away but I still go here because I appreciate the customer service. I typically don’t leave reviews but felt the need to here because of the exceptional experience I’ve had each time I rented.

Svetla Georgieva: This was my second time renting a car from Peter Fuller Rental. The first time was a couple of years ago without any issues. A while after returning the car an additional amount was charged on my debit card but I contacted them and they reimbursed me right away so no big deal since I caught it.This time I rented a car for 3 days for work- I needed to travel to Lawrence. On day 2, while driving on the highway I felt the front passenger tire blow. Thankfully I was able to pull over right away since I was in the exit lane. The tire is pictured below. In a panic, I called Peter Fuller Rentals to explain the situation and ask what to do since I had paid for insurance with them. The guy on the phone laughed at me and said "Have you never rented a car before?"- they didn't cover the tires. Ok, that was fine. He said there should be a spare in the trunk- I checked and there wasn't one. When I told him this, he said repeatedly "Yes there is, there is a spare in the trunk". When I told him there isn't one again, he kept repeating "I saw a spare in the trunk, there is a spare there." mocking me. I was becoming upset at this point, as I was being mocked and bullied on the phone and in a terrible situation. After speaking with highway assistance who told me due to the tire's condition it was likely caused by under inflation of the tire, which then heated up and exploded, I called the rental place again to let them know. I was again mocked and bullied being told "you will pay for the tire, say it before you hang up that you will pay for it, say it", and "how do you know you didn't hit a nail, we put air in the tires before you picked up the car". I was becoming more upset as I was being treated horribly and the tire was shredded all around. I hung up with him, called a tow truck and went to a shop to get the tire replaced so I can drive back home to Boston safely. That night I emailed Peter Fuller with the details of the incident and the photos below. I called the next day and was told "the car doesn't come with a spare" (shouldn't they have one if they're renting it out?), "how do you know you didn't hit a nail" (please see tire picture- that wasn't caused by hitting a nail), and "it was a slow leak which you didn't notice, you shouldn't have been driving the car with a slow leak, that was your mistake to not notice". To which I informed them that I was told it was likely a slow leak by the mechanic and highway assistance, and a slow leak takes longer than a day and a half to make a tire explode. They would have likely known about it for a while.Finally asked if I can be reimbursed for the tire to which I was told I will be.This business reacted to the incident in a way that wasn't a surprise to them- they have gotten these complaints before and know to be defensive and deny any claims right away. I saw other negative reviews here where they did not take responsibility and blamed the customer. Their customer service is excellent UNTIL something happens and then they will refuse to take any responsibility. My life was put in danger- I could have killed someone on the highway driving with a car in this condition. Be careful, as it is a gamble to rent from them. You may have a wonderful experience with a low price rental and you don't have to use a credit card, but as soon as your car breaks down they will not take any responsibility. Thankfully I was able to hold my ground and was reimbursed.
Steven Downey: I was fed up with renting cars out of Logan where you're charged a daily fee for the toll transponder even if you need it only once to get out of the airport. Great to find Peter Fuller Rental who does Logan pick up and drop off. It's a local business and everything was so easy. I look forward to renting from him again next year.

They ask for a large cash deposit and make sure you get a receipt because you will not get it all back and they are rude when you tell them there wrong or one of there employees stole the money they hang up on you so be careful you don’t get ripped off like I did. I gave 500$ cash deposit and only got 200$ back. I was told they put it in my card and they didn’t they (Jeff) took it in cash and refused to give it back told me to call (Jim) in the morning (he hung up on me when I accused (Jeff) of stealing it, I only had a debit card to rent with, that’s why I needed a 500$ cash deposit which was okay because there was 5 of pitching in for the SUV we rented, there was 3 of us there when I gave the 500$ but Jim the manager didn’t want to hear that, he hung up on me. What a waste of breath that was. So now we are each out 60$ because he did take the 200$ off that he says we gave for a deposit. To top that off I was never told there was a limit to the mileage till the day I rented and he knew we was going to Canada you think while in the phone he might want to mention that then, not the night we are picking up the SUV to leave for Canada, had I know ahead of time we may have gone with enterprise unlimited mileage. If I could give no stars that’s what they would get what a horrible experience.

Jin Kim: My son's moving-in date was Aug. 10th in another state. I desperately reserved a cargo van here on Aug. 7th after another rental company didn’t honor my reservation.The next morning, I was so impressed when Kyle, the Assistant Branch Manager, showed me the cargo van (Dodge Promaster 2500, which I needed, and all doors were opened for aeration before renting it out.) He walked to the van with me and treated me with a courteous manner the entire time. The rental process was a breeze.Based on my experience, this company is very reliable and trustworthy. This company offered me 100 free miles per day and charged $0.29 per mile after that. I think this is reasonable between unlimited mileage and $0.79 per mile option.

Liz Rover Bailey: I rented twice from Penske - once, to move into an apartment while construction was being done on our home, and the second time to move back. They were great both times, but especially so the second time -- see, I had reserved one of their competitors' trucks (rhymes with you-bawl) but was a little late picking it up, and they gave it to someone else.I was moving on the last day of the month - the competitor had no other trucks available anywhere nearby (and their service people were curt and rude about the whole situation). So I drove over to Penske, where Alejandro was absolutely AMAZING - kind and understanding, and went out of his way to make something work for me. They, with the go-ahead from Penske (headquarters? something . . .) let me take a truck for two hours that had been reserved for later that day. They totally saved my move.Both times, they were knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and generally wonderful. But the second time they really went above and beyond anything necessary to help me out when I needed it. I will be forever grateful.10/10 would recommend; 10/10 would use again.

I was really nervous about moving, and as a retail employee myself, I’m really particular about customer service, so I didn’t have high hopes about picking up a truck at 9 am on a Sunday morning. But the two men working really blew me away, they were friendly, knowledgeable and very thorough while explaining everything to me. Not to mention, the rental price was totally reasonable. I will definitely rent again!
