Guitar Center: what do users think?
DJ Matthew: I wanted to buy a speaker. I was able to hear it listen to a live before I bought it. The person helping me was very helpful. There's very little free parking but It's worth it to see all the products here all the products live before you buy it
Jose Mercedes Alvarez: Guitar Center una Empresa con artículos de primera calidad a precios sin competencia. En caso, sus servicios son una garantía a mi inversión.
Benjamin Wilson: Brought my beginner 12 y/o to the store and were happy with Glenno's service. Would definitely go back.
Marc Vidal: The Environment is not always ideal to try things ( as it can be pretty noisy). But the team was nice and I found several instruments there :)The second hand part of the store is nice to get good deals.
Frank Buckley: Great experience
Adam Gesuero: Glen-O took great care of my buddy and I on our recent trip to Fenway Guitar Center. We were there for hours trying out tons of axes, and he helped us out but was never pushy. Gave our guitars some fine-tuning, adjusted the necks and polished ‘em up nice. Ask for him when you go there.
Daniel Franklin: Awful customer service! Can't even respond to a complaint after giving the worst customer service in Boston. Don't even bother visiting.
Adam Harris: Great service, good prices, fun time for the family. Some people can be pushy.
Zeus Pedersen: Don’t shop at this location. The customer service is terrible with the exception of a couple employees. I brought my bass in to have brand new pickups installed: I was informed on the pickup day a week later that my bass required extra time and that I was being charged $45 extra for extra work they had to do. Upon getting it back, my bass produced little to no sound. I brought it back and after plugging it into multiple amps we got no results and I got no answers. I asked for at least a %50 refund and was refused and was then told they could take it back to fix it but they’d charge me full price. The store manager then said “sorry, i don’t know what to tell you.” I brought it to someone else & they had it fixed within 15 minutes. As a newer musician, I’m very discouraged from shopping at the place that’s supposed to be the go-to spot.
R Z: I would definitely recommend this location..I received not only great help in finding headphones but I also had a great guitar lesson
Parker Tichko: The scene: It is New Year's Eve Day, the final day of the year, and you're driving to Guitar Center to pick up a new digital piano for your son. You'd like him to start piano lessons this year. You find the back parking lot full, so you decide to idle in front of a garage door that says "DO NOT BLOCK" and "NO PARKING," after arranging for a contact-less pick-up. It should be quick, you think to yourself. You notify the store that you've arrived via email and the curbsy website. You wait 10 minutes. You wait some more. You check the curbsy website, and it doesn't seem to be loading correctly. Moreover, the chat feature, which allows you to "chat" with the store, doesn't seem to be working. You turn off the car and decide to walk into the store to get the digital piano you've ordered. You're greeted by the door, and an employee immediately finds your contact-less pick-up order. He sends another employee out back to pack the piano into your car. What service! You walk back outside, excited to be on your way for NYE, only to find that your car battery is dead. Your car won't start, and it is now blocking the "DO-NOT-BLOCK" garage door. Another Guitar Center employee, who parked inside the garage, opens the garage door to find your dead car blocking his exit. He is desperate to leave his shift to celebrate NYE. He's kind and helpful, and he offers to jump your car with his cable. He tries, but it doesn't work. You're about to throw your car into neutral and manually push it out of the way so he can leave and celebrate the new year. You begin to mentally prepare to call a tow truck, knowing there might be limited service on NYE and that it will likely cost you an arm and a leg. Suddenly, another Guitar Center employee arrives. He has a long, wirey beard, but his eyes seem kind. He offers to try jumping your car again, this time, using his jumper cables. You're skeptical, convinced that it might be a bad starter and not a dead battery. He connects both black ends of the cable to the negative terminals on the two batteries. You tell him that one of the black ends needs to be grounded. He says not to worry, that he does this thing all the time. It works. He's right. Shaken but relieved, you step out your car, unsure how to thank your Good Samaritans. Before you can say anything, he extends his hand and says "happy new year." You shake it. Dazed, you step back into your car and begin to drive to O'Reilly's auto-parts to purchase a new battery with a new digital piano stuffed in your trunk. As you drive off, you hear the distant sound of shredding neo-classical arpeggios coming from a squealing guitar. You imagine it's the employee with the long, wirey bead. You feel grateful. Five stars.
Luke Pynchon: Tried to buy a Maschine Plus here twice. The first time I bought it used, but there were some glitches so I had to return it. The second time, I ordered it new, which cost me a bit more. When I picked it up and arrived home, I realized that the "new" Maschine I had bought was in worse shape than the used one I returned previously; no SD card, missing accessories such as he headphone adapter. There was even melted chocolate on the inner packaging. I was told it was ordered from another warehouse. Clearly Guitar Center doesn't take the time to check and make sure you've received what you paid for when you order a new item. This item is hard to get, and Guitar Center wasted about two weeks of time that could've been put towards waiting for a competent retailer to deliver it. Ordered from Sweetwater who has already been much more helpful. If you're thinking of ordering a large - ticket from Guitar Center, stop right there. Go to Sweetwater instead. They actually know what they're doing. Guitar Center is great for low - ticket items though. If you need a place that can be trusted with selling you a box of cables and a guitar pick, go to Guitar Center, but I wouldn't trust them not to screw up purchases much larger than that
Edenilze Halluch: Show time. 2 foor of music and all you need for music
Diana Rodriguez-Quiles: brought my bass to trade it in for something else. at first the staff was nice, as soon as they saw my puertorrican ID they turned sour. started to say that my ID isn’t valid (which it is), and i painfully explained how the US owns Puerto Rico and they still wouldn’t get it. they finally agreed to give me money for it, undershot what the bass was worth, and eventually gave in to some negotiation. worst experience i’ve had with my ID, they also insisted that they had to take a picture of me for this process which i found very inappropriate considering everything that went down.
Patrick Scott Welsh (Pag): Me and Marty (what I named my Martin accoustic which I picked up here) are in love. We will never forget where we first met.
Nainil Maladkar: The place has a variety of options to chose from and has guitars of every type and price range.
K L: Bought a guitar cabinet from the online store, this store shipped it as “new” and when I called customer support they argued it’s ok because it’s “like new” and still playable, at least to their standards. I paid full price for a new cab, not a display model that are currently listed on the site for 2/3s the price. There is literally nothing Guitar Center could do at this point to ever get my business again after all the bad experiences I’ve had.
Donovan Jermyn: I mean it's okay. When you go in to just browse the sales team will hound you and then when you have money and need to buy something, they all disappear. Literally took an hour to buy two pedals.
Hendrik Gideonse: I made an appointment the day before to check out acoustic bass guitars. The guy on the phone was very nice and put some instruments together in the store for me. I came in to check out the instruments and the instruments weren't in very good shape. The strings on the instruments were old and oxidized even on the 'new' instruments. I figured, it's been a long pandemic, probably not a lot of people buying instruments in person. All of the necks were way out of adjustment with much more neck relief than was correct. All of the instruments intonated sharp as you went up the neck because the strings were too high. I basically was bending the strings sharp just fretting notes. There was one instrument that I liked the sound of, but the neck needed to be adjusted so I could check the intonation. I went over to the repair office and asked if he would adjust the truss rod. The guy said he was too busy to adjust the neck today. He clearly viewed me as an annoyance. He definitely didn't want to help me out. It takes about a minute to do the adjustment. Turning a wrench, maybe a third to a half turn. I asked if I could use the 5mm wrench to do it myself. Again no. This was more expected because he doesn't know me, but I had hoped that it would encourage him to help me out. He was not in the middle of a re-fret or a bridge reglue, but playing an instrument, maybe checking a set up. To me the customer in the store is the priority. It was really disappointing and a waste of my time. I know why this happened. The repair guy has no incentive to help sell an instrument. He probably is getting pressure to do more work than is reasonable. The store didn't have any sales folks on the floor because business is slow these days. But I literally had $1000 in cash to buy an instrument and couldn't get help to buy one. So I went home and ordered a bass off eBay. Now I am spending the afternoon cutting a new bone nut and saddle. If you aren't getting help from humans in the store, brick and mortar is gonna die.
William Boxx: I found the MIDI cable i needed!
Wazir Gray: James and Kemit were awesome! Highly recommend this location

Mr. Music Guitar Center: what do users think?
MobiusBandwidth: Best guitar store in MA. Friendly knowledgeable staff, always interesting gear at fair prices.
dan p: Lots of parts and service. Good amount of gear and can try/play. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff.
Meghan Bliss: Really nice guys helped me tune up new strings for my mom's old guitar and didn't hesitate to help answer my questions as a newby. Grateful.
Mike Grill: This place rules. One of the few real businesses left in Allston. Stop by if you get the chance, best selection in town, excellent customer service
Jamir Gomes: The best guitar place, owner and employees, pleasant nice going
Patric Docmanov: They sold me 2 cables and told me they have lifetime warranty. Well, i showed up to swap em and the staff gaslighted me and straight up refused to honor anythint by claiming they never offeree such thing.I expected such behavior from major corporate chains but not them. Was once an avid fan, never again.
Ross Mottau: Great experience buying a starter guitar. I cannot remember the last time I bought anything retail and felt good about the service. Way impressed!
Andy Baker (Lion Ice): Best Music Store in Boston!
Cory Fong: This is what a refer to as a real guitar center. Best selection of pedals and all things guitar! The staff definitely knows how to help too!
Eric Lassar: Awesome selection of instruments and gear.
Alex Zhu: Very helpful, patient, and knowledgable music experts here. Reasonably priced instruments of high quality and large selection as well.
Donovan Jermyn: Kinda pricey inventory but better than guitar center service wise.
Eoin Kenny: Although I got a guitar here I really like, I found some of the staff a bit rude and dismissive, like, "show me the money and then we'll talk" kind of attitude. I also spent quite a lot of money on the guitar eventually, but wasn't offered a particularly great deal honestly when you factor in tax etc. I would recommended it, but tread a little carefully.
Trevor Stricker: 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cesar Garcia: Bunch of pedals! Used and new. You can try them all!Steve was amazing. He helped me try many effect pedals and get the right one. They have multiple amps and guitars as well. No PRS though, which is what I play, mostly fender and Gibson.
Micah Nicol: Great guys! Eager to help.Stopped in for a box to ship a guitar and they even helped pack it.
Chip Foarde: I’ve been a customer at Mr Music for nearly a decade and have purchased everything from basic gear to one of my favorite guitars from them. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly, but very hands-off; they don’t bother you when you just want to stop by and play some guitars. They have a very curated selection, but always have the essentials in stock. This is a textbook “mom and pop” music store, and I can’t recommend them enough.
Michael Powers: Great local music store.
Millicent Holder: The first time I was there in a long time, they sales clerk put ball strings and told me it was the best because the ball guitar strings cost less money. When I came today another sales clerk I saw didn’t give ball strings and I believe that’s why I paid more money then the other ball strings then I would have it the first sales clerk had help me out with my guitar strings.
Maka Espinoza Gotuzzo: The service is phenomenal! I went in with some issues as a newbie guitar player changing strings for the first time and messing it up. Peter was super kind and not only helped me fix my guitar, but also taught me how to change the strings and provided advice on how to take care of a floating bridge. The staff really cares about helping their customers and I will go back for sure!
Bud Winn: I came to the store after seeing several great Google reviews. This was my first guitar, and only 2nd or 3rd time ever holding one, so everything was new to me. Sam patiently took the time to explain the different styles of guitar and help me make my first purchase. He was great, and the rest of the employees in the store were also nice and very helpful. I had a great experience and I highly recommend!

Guitar Center: what do users think?
Daylis Alonzo: Muy buenos y muy amables sus empleados..
Santo Ramirez: Exelente Servicio, Precios bajos..!
Alex K: The worst experience.I asked them to lower the strings on my acoustic guitar. They charged me for a platinum setup which includes new strings but instead they used my own string without asking my permission. They did not lower the strings, and its "platinum" setup took five days.
Champ: Synthesizers
Carolyn Willander: Went in and asked for a mic stand. Very clearly did not know my way around this stuff since I walked right to the counter when I came in and asked for help. Got home and learned it didn’t come with a clip for the mic. Good service would have asked if I needed it.
Jessica Luo: This place makes me want to shop at sweetwater
Samantha Em: Helpful and patient
Caroline: The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when we were picking out my son's first guitar. We will defiantly be back!!!
Scott McDiarmid: Great shop. Lots of inventory and helpful staff.
Stephanie Joseph: super helpful and informative employees. i walked in and was immediately greeted and assisted. i was on the hunt for something my partner needed and i had no idea what to look for. the employees grabbed it and told me about their replacement policy in case my item broke they would replace it. which is amazing!!! you can tell everyone working actually enjoys their job here and it’s refreshing to see. especially these days.
Cesar Garcia: Staff is great, but the variety of instruments and accessories is low compared to any other guitar center. Because is closed to college, most guitars have a lock and you must leave you credit card on the counter if you have to test a pedal. I didn't like the experience, again, compared to other guitar center I have visited.
Alp Arhan Uguray: Worst possible experience at this store. People are smoked high out of their minds at this shop. You’d spend hundreds of dollars of money on equipment and the customer experience you get is same as picking up a product from trash. My recommendation is to visit Boylston store for anybody out there, looking to purchase music equipment.Additionally, they lose equipment. I gave my guitar for repair before Covid and after Covid hit the said they lost it. Since everyone is high, they do not remember much what happened and who picked up the equipment. I am sorry to say this but avoid this store unless you are 8 years old and starting to play the flute to play jingle bells only
Elizabeth McIlroy: Super friendly staff that will help you feel comfortable and have everything that you need! Thanks for the help!
Sávio Júnior: Great staff...very smoothly guys!
Stephen Parnell: Wednesday, July 6th at Boston Guitar Center at about 12:30-12:45PM - you had a very talented person working at the Guitar Center. He had a Martin guitar that he was working on. I was wondering how much that Particular Martin guitar was. He was doing such a beautiful job with that guitar. He worked diligently on it as well as. I’d love to know his name or how much the cost of the guitar was?
Tristan DeCelles: Decent outlet, but small. Has stocked your basic/ and or general merchandise. So its not a bad stop to resupply on sticks if you're a drummer (drummah) like me or strings or picks if you're a guitar boss. It's a small store and I must admit the drum section is pitiful. Not much there. If you're looking to fool around in a drum section go to the Fenway store it has much more sample/display drums. Again, not a bad store since from what I could tell from my single visit the staff were agreeable and chill.
Gary Luongo: Max was very helpful with my questions and purchase. Thanks, Gary aka Louie Spats 😎
Kelvin Lewis: Very informative personal..
Matt: Love Guitar Center for the most part. As far as the pro coverage is concerned I am very disappointed. The salesman told me they would replace broken gear (in my case headphones) on the spot without a receipt. The day came where my headphones that I bought last year needed to be replaced. I brought them into the same store. Things did not go as the salesman from last year described. I was told to contact the insurance company to make a claim, who asked me for a receipt. Very disappointed with this one particular salesperson.
bzon66 .LoveDad06: Great place to shop And very nice customer service.

Virtuosity Musical Instruments: what do users think?
Dom Luo: Outstanding, friendly staff and a great selection of musical instruments, accessories, and parts. Would be my first stop for anything related to musical instruments 100/100 times!
Benjamin Allen: I had a tremendous experience purchasing my current tenor saxophone from Virtuosity. Brett Walberg was tremendous and provided amazing customer service.
Anna Holzem: An amazing place to get your instrument repaired! Everyone there is so knowledgeable and super helpful. Shout out to Trevor McCoy for helping us. He was able to figure what was wrong with our trombone in 10 minutes and helped us make a plan to fix it. 10/10 can’t recommend enough.
Nick Belsten: Virtuosity has a great selection of reeds for a sax player like me. They also have a good selection of instruments you can try. I find the staff very knowledgeable and will match you with reeds/mouthpiece/instrument that suit you and your playing style
The Shadowed: My favorite place to buy guitars. They have every brand you think of. If they say they don’t have guitars, ask for “Mikey”
Josh Smith: Well stocked store with a friendly staff. Largest selection of guitars in the city.
Ilan Morgenstern, Bass Trombone: Steve and the team run a tight ship! Lots of great horns and other gear!
Timothy Maines: Unbelievably friendly staff with some of the finest brass goods you'll find in the business! Loved my time here and I look forward to coming back in the future!
William Dworet: This is an outstanding music store. They have an amazing selection of brass instruments, and the staff is knowledgeable, pleasant, and very helpful. Also, they are very professional, and their customer service is exceptional. I have a 20-year-old Romeo Adaci custom trumpet they serviced for me. They did an exceptional job on it.
Richard Lowenthal: Visiting Virtuosity was one of the highlights of our trip to Boston. Alek, in particular, was amazing! Knowledgeable, professional, kind, and patient. OMG, and the instruments were awesome. Just the best. Thank you so much Alek!!
Michael Davis: Teriffic service and excellent inventory.
Gene Wie: Great service and pricing, helpful expertson staff, and a pleasant shop experience!
Julie Rey: We flew in from Seattle as soon as our vaccination status would allow so that my son could experience playing the one Rampone Cazzani baritone saxophone that could be found in the US, and compare to a vintage Conn (as well as several other beautiful baris) all on the same day. From the time we set the appointment Brett sought to understand what specifically my son was looking for, and showed deep listening skills as well as legit AF expertise in all things saxophone, vintage and new. On the day we visited Virtuosity, Brett pulled all the horns into a private setting and let my son spend as much time as he needed exploring each horn, with the ability to video and play back his sound on each one. His expertise as a player, teacher, and lover of saxophones was invaluable through the experience. We walked away with the Rampone at a very fair price, with a mouthpiece and some swag thrown in for good measure. Upon reflection, our day was reminiscent of a Harry Potter Diagonal Alley affair. The wand chose the wizard … the sax chose the player. Magical.
John: My son's school orchestra teacher wanted them to buy a Clarinet in A. We went to Virtuosity Musical Instruments, they offered a new non-professional grade and a used professional grade, we asked if we could trade in with an used Clarinet and they agreed. Then my son took the two clarinets to his turor's house, after trial his tutor said the used tone was good and suggested buying this, so we bought it on Wednesday.Friday morning my son took it to school for rehearsal and found that the clarinet started leaking after about one hour of use. In the afternoon I took the clarinet to Virtuosity to return and buy a new Clarinet in A, the clerk said they wouldn't have the new R13 until next January, so I had to return it, but he insisted to charge me $200 for restocking fee, even though I told him it was quality issue with the clarinet.Failure in not having a long trial before buying, a disappointing experience.
Reiley Williams: People are great and very knowledgeable.
Matthew Oliphant: Came in because I thought I would pop into Rayburn and was pleasantly surprised to see a great shop. Very helpful with what I needed to get through my next gig. I'll be back when I'm in the area again!
Russel Bradley: Great variety of products. Very friendly staff. Thanks Alek
Jason Albaum: Made an appointment to play test + purchase sax mouthpieces for alto and tenor. Such a great experience! The guys in the shop were super welcoming and kind. They didn't rush me at all and made sure I got to try everything I wanted. I'll be returning for all my saxophone needs and will be recommending Virtuosity to my music pals. Thanks!!
Ali Hoffman: I recently gave a flute recital at Virtuosity and had such a great experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful with setting up the space and the audio. I was able to get the video recording of the concert and the recording quality is great. It’s a really unique venue! I will definitely be performing and recording here again.
Todd McKay: Steve, the owner, and Brett, the woodwind specialist, are consumate professionals. They are dedicated to making sure that when you visit you are taken care of as well as answering any questions that you may have. My daughter tried 6 clarinets out before making her decision. She is very happy as are we with the decision she made as well as taking the three hour trip to Boston for the purchase.Thank you again for making us feel welcome and we will continue to do business with you as she pursues her music minor in college.
Matthew J Shochat: Intimate setting perfect for live performances 💯✨👌

Music Go Round Boston: what do users think?
Shahin Prentice: I bought my first bass here, and I will buy my 10thThe staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and they always have something super unique
yuppiemobile69: Garbage sold by pawn shop experts...they giveth lip service when they take in stuff and refuse to give back upon request. They also buy low and sell high..this is slipshot outfit owned by the 70's clothing merchant Hit Or Miss...which is their attitude. On my LAST trip I noted hey lease their basement mud rooms (was once a rug cutting basement) to ornery "teachers" and repair "techs" who will "forget" if you leave a pack of strings in a case..even if you tell them in advance! I would suggest avoiding at all costs, but I guess grade schoolers need the school bus orange sign and guitars lit up with spots through the glass to ATTRACT attention...hey kiddies, remember, the reason they have so few negatives on this site is b/c they fight to censor ANY review up to their "standards"...no doubt I'll be surprised if this one stays, but truth hits everybody...someday!
Mark Dailey (edagener): great selection of used music gear. I've purchased several guitars, pedals and amps from them.
Jason Hunt: Best trade in values in the greater Boston metro area.
John Villines: I reached out over the weekend and was surprised to get a prompt response to my inquiry. “Jeff” answered all my questions regarding the vintage acoustic guitar being advertised and provided additional photos in our subsequent email exchanges. The condition of the guitar was accurately described, it shipped and arrived promptly (Georgia), well packaged and playable right out of the box. I also purchased a nice SKD case. The prices and shipping costs were very reasonable. Excellent customer service.
Matthew Gorr: Wide inventory that's always changing!
Toby Kraft: Bought nice a Johnson Millennium 150 amplifier, great shape, works well. Friendly, helpful staff, great service. Superfast shipping, packed well and a great price. I recommend this seller and would buy again. Thanks
Clinton Beardsley: Bought an amp from them that unfortunately got a bit damaged in shipping (it was packed extremely well, but some old amps are delicate and it happens), but they resolved everything as best as they could and made sure I was happy with the outcome. Thanks again for everything, and I appreciate it!
Jaxson Claire: This is one of the coolest music stores I have ever been to and I cannot thank the staff enough for being so helpful and knowledgeable on what they sell. Picked up a beautiful very reasonably priced Epiphone sg classic and I cannot be happier with my purchase. Will definitely be back to shop!
LA Wood: This is a REAL Music Store for real musicians!! Love this place! Staff are awesome, fair prices, excellent customer service, kudos to Jeff with the curly brown hair ♥️✌️😎👍
Paul Kolodzinski: Great selection. Excellent staff.
jean bernard liautaud: Been to that store a few times, the service has been consistently mediocre to horrendous. Customers beware
Jmeko101: I bought a 20 year old used Johnson J8 foot controller for a Johnson Marquis amp and it worked with the exception of one option. After I let them know, they rapidly sent me another one just like it with all of the options working. Customer service that great is hard to find! That was way above and beyond what I expected. Everyone I was in contact with was very kind and professional. I am usually nervous to buy used equipment online, but after my experience I would buy anything from here with 100% confidence.
Tom Cashion III: I have not personally set foot in this particular store but I have purchased from them online. My bass was shipped extremely fast and was packed fantastic. I did have an issue where the nut was broken when the bass arrived however the store worked with me to make sure it would get fixed so I could enjoy my new instrument. Every person I've talked to at that store is very polite and after this experience I would absolutely shop this store if I lived in the area. Thank you guys!
Brendan Christopher: Big shout out to Jeff and Vic for helping me out. I traded in my old pedalboard and they let me try out a few different boards and even helped make sure all my pedals fit before completing the trade. I will bring all my future business here instead of G.C. from now on. Great selection of used gear and awesome customer service!
Marc Irwin: Awesome placeGreat for swapping unused gear for a new toy (used toy but much cheaper)
Rich Clark: Great store, friendly and helpful staff (unlike that other store down the road)
Scott Frey: My experience with this shop have been overwhelmingly positive. Dave, in particular, really helped me to better understand the details of the very special custom bass that I sought to purchase. Importantly, he did so with zero pressure and a great deal of patience, over numerous correspondences. He even took the time to send me some beautiful photos of my new Alembic 6-string before packing it to ship to my home. The selection is really terrific and I could not be happier.
Samantha Goldstein: Very nice place with nice people
Tai Tran: Excellent Service for online sales!I had the pleasure of working with David(Dave) Agoglia on purchasing a used guitar that I fell in love with 13 years ago but never got the chance to purchase until now.I asked for pictures and he was incredibly helpful in sending me very specific and detailed shots. In addition, they even promised to clean and test the instruments before they are shipped! Thanks again Dave!
Zack Bolles: I started shopping at Music Go Round about five years ago and I’ve purchased and traded in multiple guitars. Always a great experience and the crew is knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent selection of instruments to suit any budget.

Guitar Stop®: what do users think?
Logan Thompson: Reviewing low for two reasons:1. Their repair competence is very low. They couldn’t diagnose several basic issues with my guitar, which another luthier spotted easily2. They have a small selection of low end to mediocre guitars
Davis Sweet: The owners are very nice, but they don't stock higher-end instruments
Daniele M. Becker (DANA): Impeccable
Gary Luongo: Glad they stock the D'Addario Folk Nylon strings I like. Jean was very helpful and nice. Thanks Gary
Andrey Fedorov: I love this store, and am very happy to support this small business, which at times has a better selection than big retailers. I was saddened to hear they are vehemently opposing the bike lane initiatives of the city. I want to say that I never had a pressing need to park in front of this store. Parking space availability is not going to affect my interest or ability to shop here. Update: I believe the bike lane design being implemented by the city is the best attempt we have at balancing the needs of various stakeholders of the community.
Jayson Hreczuck: Owner vocally against basic infrastructure improvements. If you care about public and pedestrian safety, take your business elsewhere.
Tony B: It's a nice little family owned shop with a wide selection of quality products; issue is that I've gotten 3 guitars setup here and all 3 of them have buzzed when I got them home. One so badly that I couldn't overcome it and had to bring it back. Maybe they are taking on too many jobs and the tech is trying to crank them out too quickly, but $60ish for a setup that I then have to fix is a dealbreaker for me.
Scot Fitzsimmons: Small shop, well stocked for strings and accessories. Owner is super helpful!
paul trunnell: Super friendly and professional, great selection of reasonably-priced stuff, love that they have several left-handed guitars always in stock. I generally drop in for small stuff (strings, guitar hanger, slide, etc.) and they always have what I'm looking for.
Sketches for you: I was going to buy a bass guitar here, but the lady wouldn’t let me try out any of them, even though there was no one else in there, AND I had brought my headphones. What’s more is that she wasn’t busy at the moment. I ended up going over to Mr. Music in Allston to get a bass and bass amp from there.
César Rincón Mayorga: I love this place. They've got a whole bunch of Fender instruments. The people who tends you here are extremely nice, and they know their products. I got lucky there was a 75th anniversary Fender Telecaster on sale and, well, I bought it.5/5.
Thomas J: Hands down the best place to go for Fender. Huge selection. Just bought an excellent Professional Strat to go with the Performer Tele I bought here a few months ago. Tried a bunch of guitars and they have everything you could want up and down the line. Very patient with me on both experiences and I am VERY picky. Go to some other shops, try them as I did, you will return to Guitar Stop. Ten stars!
Robert Goodwinr: Cozy place with lots of great stuff inside, including lefty players which is what attracted me being a left handed player. This is a family owned place from what I gather, and everyone that i've met here has been very nice to me. So, not sure why there's negative reviews posted here. One of the guitars i bought kept fret buzzing, brought it back weeks later and turned out to be a bad neck, exchanged no problem. Restrung one of my guitars right in front of me, set action, intonation and left within that hour of arriving. *****JEAN - I just wanted to say a big Thank You for adjusting the bridge on my Strat the other day! It's plays out great now staying in tune very strong!! Appreciate. See you guys later, til next time****. Robert
Juana Mendoza: I got my ukulele three months ago I love it! And when I didn't know which ukulele I should get they help me right away.they help me on Which size I should I get and the 7 day return policy help me a lot on if a which size. So I recommend
Billy Lazzaro: Lovely shop, incredibly kind and patient staff
Clawman Segele: Guitar Stop is a great place to get a beautiful instrument. They have a very broad and very nice selection of quality instruments, that are quite affordable. The staff is very responsive to emails and very helpful in store as well. I would highly recommend Guitar Stop to any musicians looking to get a nice guitar, bass, banjo, or any of the other nice instruments they have!
iZyxel: Really enjoyed my experience there! The staff were really nice. The pickups on the bass I bought were a bit loose but that's alright, probably came loose on the way home, which I can fix.
Jonathan Roses: Knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful staff.
Larry: I purchased a guitar online with curbside pickup. The staff were very responsive to my email inquiries and friendly during pickup. I look forward to returning when in-store shopping is available again.
Tim Russell: Best place for lessons. Instructors listen to students. Easy to schedule.
Owen Turner: Amazing little guitar store. You can tell they really care about guitars and guitarists.

New England Violins Inc: what do users think?
Alex P: Came in to get my bow grip replaced and get an estimate for replacing my violin bridge. Paul took his time looking over both bow and violin, asked if I had time to stay, and I said yes. He told me my bridge seemed misplaced; he pulled out his tape measure and compass to measure quite a few different parts of my instrument. My bridge was too wide, my soundpost and bass bar weren't aligned properly, my tailpiece was too long, and my fingerboard was scooped on the E string side. He asked, "Is it hard to push down on the E string?" I responded, "How did you know!" He told me he could fix these issues if I wanted and the instrument would probably sound richer. If he fixed them and I didn't like the sound, he could move it back exactly how it was. Paul asked me about every detail before making changes. Whole thing, including bow repairs and rehair, new tailpiece and fine tuner, new and aligned bridge and soundpost, restained fingerboard and planing, was ~$550, paid upon pickup a week later. When I arrived for pickup, he explained to me some historical facts about different fingerboard lengths, and I asked if he was familiar with my violin maker. He said not more than basic facts, pulled out a book with all luthiers through time, and sure enough there was my violin maker! My violin sounds significantly richer and actually rings now, which I didn't think possible. It is certainly worth more than its original price plus repairs cost. He asked me to play before I left to make sure I liked it, told me to come back anytime if I wanted to revert. The tailpiece Paul chose matches my pegs better than my old one, not to mention it's the proper size. I came in for a bow grip and left with a completely new higher class violin!
Daniel Fuentes: I`m not usted to do this but I think this can be helpful to others. Around a month ago, I was visiting Boston with my wife. We are both profesional cellists. I needed to change the endpin from my cello and I searched on Google the nearest luthier from where I was staying. Since it was a simple job to be done as he said by the phone, I went to New England Violins. This Paul started to work on my cello and we were very surprised in how he did his work because he treated my cello very careless. The tailpiece and strings were hanging from the cello as he moved, they kept banging everything the touch. I asked him to please stop, but he didnt hear me since he was on the phone the entire time he was working on the cello. At this point I had to grab the cello from his hands and paid for his awful job and we left. I dont like my instrument to be banged around. I do not recomend this place at all. Be careful. Later I checked there were a los of places much better than this one and they knew this awful luthier.I Added a photo of the transaction so the awful luthier does not try to lie about this.
George Monaco: My daughter needed a shoulder rest for her viola. The owner, Paul, was very courteous and knowledgeable. He helped my daughter pick the best shoulder rest for her.
Kelly Frazier: Paul is knowledgeable and engaging, he helped me find just the right 7/8 cello to fit my small hands! He set me up with a very fine instrument at a fair price and made sure I was happy with the set up before I left. His shop outshines others in the area.
Leslie Azaret: Great experience at Paul's shop. An amazing selection of cellos and Paul is a wealth of knowledge in the instruments and their repair. Check it out!
Janice Tucker Rhoda: What a beautiful shop! When I lived and taught Violin in the Boston area for many years, I referred adult and younger students to Paul, the owner. They loved going there on a consistent basis. Whether they needed to improve their own Violin with new strings or adjustments, or purchase a new Violin or Bow, Paul was always very patient! My highest recommendation!
Virginia Hutton: I went to New England Violins to inquire about selling a violin. The owner could not have been nicer, more quick to respond, and above all, totally honest. He gave me a great price and I learned a lot about violins from our chat. I could not recommend more.
Lori Tsuruda: Paul gave expert and persona lo sized advice and instrument care after he carefully listened to me.
Caio de Paula: Always good to spend time with Paul!
Laura Treppel: This was my 1st visit to New England Violins, and I was thrilled! I used to be an accomplished violinist but stopped at least 30 years ago. Having recently retired, I moved from NJ and wanted to try playing again. I have a valuable instrument and needed a reputable person to repair it.I was nervous and concerned about whether I would be over charged or pressured into unnecessary repairs. Also, I was worried that I would feel embarrassed and intimidated since I played so poorly.Paul was affable and down to earth, so I immediately felt comfortable . He Is passionate about his work and approaches it analytically. He diagnosed the issues and formulated a plan that included step wise options, which allowed me to decide if I wanted everything repaired at once, or just do the basics first. I never felt pressured to do more than it needed, and prices were very fair. When the work was finished, I couldn’t believe how amazing it sounded. He truly is gifted in terms of adjusting the soundpost , and fixed my fingerboard and bridge so that the sound was full and clear but required way less effort to produce it.I later told Paul about my chronic neck/shoulder issues. He let me try out several chinrests and shoulderpads, which made a huge difference. The price again was very reasonable, and he never pushed me to purchase them.Altogether I spent several hours in his shop, and did not feel rushed. I enjoyed talking to him and learned from his experiences. It also helps that he is a professional violist so can check out the sound by playing it himself. I highly recommend this lovely place if you need help getting your instrument to sound it’s best.Laura Treppel
Marie Comuzzo: This man makes me happy! He transformed the sound of my violin with an amazing reglage and always gives wonderful suggestions and inputs to improve comfort, sound and life in general!
Victoriola “Bob” the Fifth: I originally came in just to buy a viola mute. Instead, I was treated to a 45 minute adventure in improving my technique, and got to see and try a large exhibit of violas of wildly different shapes and sizes, led by Paul himself. I've been playing for about 4 years, and he fixed my posture and shifting in approximately 15 minutes. I left the store with the mute, a shoulder rest, and a wealth of new knowledge on everything relating to violas. Paul is an amazing and friendly person, and this store is hands-down the best store on string instruments that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.
李半江: best
Paperworks Etc: Excellent, excellent service. I enjoyed my experience there. I am a newbie at violin, but my shopping experience there boost my confidence. Very amicable, patient, and knowledgeable.
Nicole Rim: Paul is very knowledgeable and helpful!
Matthew Abraham: The only place I'll ever go to get another violin. After a long search, Paul gave me violin choices that made me question going to another store ever again.
Ayako Mikami: I highly recommend Paul whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or an advanced musician. I say this from the eight years I’ve known Paul - he has a warm and joyful personality and cares about his customers. He will patiently help you select the instrument that suits your skill level and your needs. Due to harsh New England winters and accidents I had to go to Paul multiple times to get my instrument fixed (cracks, chips, issue with the soundpost, etc.) - the fact that my cello looks beautiful and is still in great condition as when I first bought it from Paul speaks to his deep understanding of string instruments and skilled handwork. In addition, I’ve taken lessons from him and he gave me great advices in which I improved my bowing, musicality, tonality, and bring out the best possible sounds from my cello. If you are looking for someone who you can trust your instrument with or looking to buy one that you will fall in love with, New England Violins is the place to go.
Sandy G: My son and I bought a young professional violin made by Ray Melanson from NE Violins, after a long nationwide search for the right sound. Owner Paul Dulude let us try out his collection and take our time. We were very pleased with the service, transaction, and now the playing.
Christopher Goodwin: In search of a new viola my junior year of High School, with a quality sound and price for college auditions, I went to numerous shops around the Albany area. After months of searching for an instrument suiting my tastes, at an affordable price I stumbled upon Dulude's shop. Though it was a far drive to Massachusetts, his selection of instruments far surpassed any shop that I'd been to before. Such a vast selection of rich sounding instruments, many at great prices. After spending a day at the store I came home with a viola that was just right for me, and my wallet! I felt so welcomed and comfortable trying various instruments for hours. I would not think twice before deciding where to go in search of any instrument needs in the future. New England Violins has everything a string player could need or want. I look forward to visiting again and I have and would highly recommend this shop to anyone in search of a fine string instrument!
Louise Myers: For a few years I had been thinking of trying to locate a better instrument than my current violin. I went to Paul's shop once, tried several instruments, but found none that were of the tone quality I was searching for--and still in my price range. I returned about a year later, and he introduced me to the instrument maker, Pio Montanari of Genova, Italy--and I played on a violin and a viola made by him--in the twenty-first century. Even without the period of playing-in and aging, so important to an instrument's voice, I could tell these were both excellent instruments, the viola especially so. There was an evenness in the quality of sound produced across all four strings. In particular, I was impressed by the clarity of the sound of the notes produced--as though the harmonics within each note were balanced and speaking clearly. I bought them both--at extremely fair prices.I have not been back to have the instruments adjusted, though it may be time now, but I have it on good authority from an excellent violist that Paul is a master at setting up and adjusting instruments--a fine, delicate, and not too often talked about art.If you are in the market for a good instrument, definitely take yourself over to New England Violins on Mass Ave. The shop is beautifully laid out--the perfect place to try out several instruments. Paul offers instruments at many different price levels, but he has a fine ear and a respect for stringed instruments and string players alike, and he doesn't carry something that falls below the mark of being a sound instrument. You'll enjoy your experience of shopping here.

M.J. C.: It's ok. Some middling vintage off brands. Not much of a selection but would do in a pinch. Owner polite but not friendly or welcoming. Ambience of a comic book shop or a thrift store. Fine for strings or pedals if you are in a pinch. I was very disappointed.

Wood & Strings Music Center: what do users think?
ben baker: passive agressive and shady business practices
Stephen Lafko: Excellent. Freddy's great. Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. Thanks Freddy.
The 3D Print Zone: My friend and I went into this shop and were disrespected by the guy who works there (not sure if he's the owner). Highly negative attitude, not sure what that guy's deal is. I would recommend finding another guitar shop where they treat their customers with respect.
Kevin Stillerman: FIND ANOTHER GUITAR SHOP! Wish I could leave a 0 star rating. The owner of the store was extremely rude and disparaging. His tone is very condescending when I asked him about how to wire my guitar. In addition the overall pricing at the store is very high including hourly rates. I encourage you to bring your business elsewhere, there are plenty of other guitar shops in the area.
Meghan: love this school it’swelcoming and cozy!!
Alan Foster: It was great meeting you today Deborah, thank you!
Catherine Jones: Great service! I really like to be here.
Jason Goodwin: Great staff, terrific deals, and they do a first-rate job fixing and setting up instruments.

Te Liu: 2021-12-27 in store. not big, perhaps a treasure cove to some, worthy a hunt, did wonder if they knew what they had. met the owner Deb (percussionist & banjoist) and tender (violinist), very amicably and friendly environment and offering various musical lessons. (anti-virus filtering system.)---- 4 moths agoA tiny corner music store in Arlington. My be a treasure hunt for used music books.
Juan Venegas: Not very helpful. Will never go here now.
Mira Whiting: Super helpful staff -- both when I was buying a ukelele for one child, and when I needed an emergency violin repair for another. Highly recommend!
Aaron Leventhal: My son loves the guitar and voice lessons he gets there. He's made huge improvements in the last 6 months. The instructors are excellent.
