Zoya Designs Sewing School: what do users think?
Lauren Jansen: Zoya is amazing! My mother made my wedding dress and Zoya did all the alternations. She also made some simple changes to make it look professional and less homemade. She is very talented and well priced.
Robbie Ashton: Took one of Zoya’s sewing classes on alterations and tailoring clothes, and it was excellent. Super practical and helpful, with plenty of time to ask questions and pick her brain
Alex Albert: This review is long overdue! Zoya’s altered my wedding dress last summer and they did such a fantastic job. They are professional, prompt, affordable, and very talented. I am 5’4” and I was worried about how hemming my dress would affect the beautiful lace & train… it turned out absolutely PERFECT! The length was spot on and I think it made the train look even better somehow. The bustle was a little tricky to do but it held all night and looked great. I wore my dress all night and it was extremely comfortable thanks to Zoya’s! Highly recommend trusting them with your most important garments.
Julia Aversa: I had such a pleasant, easy experience working with Zoya’s team getting my wedding gown altered. There were a lot (a lot!) of layers of tulle that needed to be hemmed and bustled, and they were able to make sure the bust was a perfect fit. Even my beaded belt was beautifully altered for a perfect, snug fit. I really appreciate the transparency of the pricing, on top of the excellent service. My dress fit absolutely perfectly, and this was such an easy, stress-free experience. Everyone I met with was friendly and knowledgeable. Zoya came highly recommended to me by a costume designer friend, and I’m very thankful! What a gem. I’ll be coming back with all my tailoring, and you should too.
Elisha Chase: Absolute magic! I bought a dress for my dad's wedding online (my first mistake), and it turned out that the asymmetrical neckline did not fit my larger top. So I went to Zoya with very little hope since the dress was too tight not loose and how can you fix that? Well I'll tell you, they reshaped the neckline and loosened the tight band cutting into my arm and made it look better than I imagined!!! They are truly magicians and at a very reasonable price!
Perpetua Charles: Really professional and kind tailors. They breathed new life into a dress I thought I’d have to give away!
Cassi Estrem: They got my dress done on time , although I feel the owner would have rather had me not come in at all, it seemed like quite the inconvenience for her.
Going2 Paris: Zoya replaced the lining in my favorite blue blazer. It looks better than brand new and will give me many more years out of this blazer. While i live in Virginia, Zoya was easy to work with through email and USPS.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
mike jensen: These guys did a great job re-lining my old, favorite pea coat. Very helpful and even did it over the phone and through the mail! Thanks again.
Lilian Wang: I brought my bridesmaid dress that I had purchased from David's Bridal in for alterations. I didn't want to pay $200 just to have it hemmed. Zoya noticed that the boning in the bodice kept poking me so offered to replace it. I was thrilled since the person at David's Bridal said there was nothing that they could do about it and I would have to suffer through the wedding.
Ruth santiago: Love it
Maud Chalons: I took the beginner class. I was part of a nice group of 5. Zoya is very kind, she knows how to explain how to our machines. She takes time to answer every questions. She is very generous and allows us to use a lot of tools from the shop. She gave me some great advices to be more efficient. If you have to miss a class, she makes it easy to do a make up class. It was really nice for me to get out of the house and do something for myself. I really liked that we had to come up with our own very personal project and to all the steps to make it real. It's also really nice to be in a group and keep an eye on what the others are doing, gave me ideas for future projects. Time flies, the classes are over and i miss it !
Allegra Stout: My partner and I got our wedding dresses altered at Zoya Designs and had a fabulous experience. The staff were friendly, professional, and very body-positive and queer-friendly. They made our dresses fit beautifully! We highly recommend Zoya Designs for any alterations you need!
Dani Yogini: excellent work

Newton Sewing Studio: what do users think?
Phil F: What a great place! I'm really surprised at the level if expertise, the attention, and what this place offers. Really great.
Katie Weatherseed: I had the absolute joy of taking one of Brian’s adult sewing classes this afternoon and have already signed up for my next class! I’m a gal in my late twenties looking to make my own clothes (but a total beginner when it comes to sewing), and I feel I couldn’t have found a more patient, friendly, knowledgeable teacher than Brian. I lugged a massive bag of sewing supplies with me but quickly learned that was unnecessary as Brian has everything you could ever need at the studio (fabric, machines, patterns, you name it). It’s clear that everyone (kids and adults alike) who enters that studio is immediately made to feel at home, and can throw their cares out the window and just have fun. I truly could not recommend the Newton Sewing Studio enough. From the reasonable class prices, to the easy online booking process, to the friendly staff- do yourself a favor and check it out!
Judith Phillips: My 6 year-old daughter went to her first class here yesterday, and promptly requested that we send her for two back-to-back sessions today (which we have booked)! The joy on her face (and the awesome pillow that she made all by herself) were well worth the per-class price (which includes materials). I swear, she has told us more about her one sewing class than about her entire school year combined. I love this place. And if you have questions, pick up the phone and call them -- Brian couldn't be nicer.
naomi yu: I have been to the camp several times now, and I have always had an incredible experience. I came here after having a bad time at Hipstich. The people are incredible, the place is cozy, the projects are adorable, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the materials are quality. You can even plan your own projects! Great place for summer camp, parties, and after school.
Beth Gottfried: My daughter had her 8th birthday party here. Brian, the owner, and his team of incredibly capable and patient assistants were on hand to direct the project, break down the steps properly, and infuse fun into it all. The studio is bright, warm and inviting. The kids all made beautiful pillows that they were proud of - even the ones who had never sewed before. Working w/Brian to set up the party was easy and he was really open to my daughter's idea with adding a bit of a twist in the pillow production process. All in all, we were so delighted with the experience and would highly recommend this studio to friends.
Beth Lisogorsky: My daughter had her 8th birthday party here and had a blast. We'd been to the studio before for Summer camp and school vacation so we knew Brian, the owner, ran a superb operation but doing the party there solidified that for us. Brian and his team were friendly, accommodating and the kids all made amazing pillows that they were proud of.
Kristen Glennie: Had such a great experience working here! Brian is really welcoming and helpful. I had no prior screen printing experience before going into the studio. However, I left not only with some killer tank-tops, but also the technical know-how to make some more in the future!
Shira C: I've been looking to expand my creative adventures and I am so lucky to have happened across the studio! Brian and Chester offer the most welcoming and supportive environment for children and adults alike!
Laurie Wadsworth: If you want a wonderful place to relearn to sew (as I did since I just retired) or just begin learning the craft, this is the place for you. Both the owner, Brian, and his helper, Kye, couldn't be nicer or more skilled at both sewing and teaching. I have made an outfit for my grandson & granddaughter and they both came out great. While there, I have observed really terrific children's classes. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable!
Teresa Carmona: This is a wonderfully organized and calm sewing studio. The atmosphere is conducive to learning, organization and creativity. I love it, my children love it and the supplies are fabulous and plentiful.Good for-parent and child classes-birthday parties-adults who want to learn how to sew
S Connolly: Didn't go here, but I called in with a question about pattern sizing and they immediately helped me out. Didn't hesitate to answer a non paying strangers question.
Joanna Kulik: My 7-year-old daughter has spent several afternoons here making wonderful creatures. Her little brother was jealous, so I joined her yesterday and make something for him. I've been sewing since I was a kid, but nowadays, I never have the time to gather all the bits and pieces to make a pillowcase, much less a stuffed animal. What a great find this was, then. Everything I needed was right there. Brian and the instructors really helped me through the process of making my first stuffed animal. My daughter and I spent a lovely afternoon together, and her brother thinks my animal came from a store! Will be returning here to make my next baby gift.
Nici Smith: My daughter (age 9) has been a part of this studio for 2 years now and loves it. It's a fun relaxed environment. Lots of creativity flowing. The classroom is bright and a very welcoming and friendly environment.
Katherine Marshall: My daughter had never sewn a stitch before, and left having made a pillow of which she is very proud! As a result, she has asked for a sewing machine for Christmas. The instructors were AMAZINGLY patient, and able to juggle many students. We will definitely come back.
Dawn H.: I am so thrilled to have found the Newton Sewing Studio! My daughter Riley has learned so much from Brian and his team there, all while taking advantage of flexible studio options that fit our crazy schedule. Brian and the other instructors are patient and kind, yet really push the kids to figure out how to make their projects come together properly. My daughter is only 8 years old, but is now able to SAFELY and properly use a sewing machine. Also, the ability to purchase "hours" and come to open studio time is fantastic, as we live 35 minutes away and cannot commit to a weekly set schedule as is required by other sewing studios around my area. I highly recommend Newton Sewing Studio!!
Joan Friedman: Terrific place. Last year, my middle school daughter and I started going here, to have something to do together. We both enjoyed it - and I learned enough to make living room curtains and lots of funky bags for gifts. They have projects available, and are equally willing to figure out how to make other ideas work. Brian even showed me how to fix my friend's sewing machine.
L L: My teenage daughter and I both took classes here each taking a separate individual class and liked it very much and learned the skills that we needed to make curtains and clothing. Very helpful, very patient instructors, very good with children and the space is quite nice with a nice selection of fabrics as well.
Colin Smith: I am a young entrepreneur and needed help learning to sew as part of the development of a new product. Brian and the team at Newton Sewing Studio were beyond helpful in helping me learn to sew, understand processes, and ultimately have been integral in my efforts moving forward. While working there, i saw numerous families come into the studio to learn and practice sewing. I was blown away by how good the NSS team was with the children and impressed with their ability to create a fun, friendly environment. I would recommend the Newton Sewing Studio to any parent looking for a fun after-school or summer activity for their kids.
Casey Leab: Yesterday I attended a beginners class and Brian and Sophie helped me sew an awesome stuffed dinosaur and pillow. I came in knowing nothing about sewing and they walked me through all the steps of the sewing process as well as provided all the sewing necessities. I was amazed at the wall of different fabric in any possible color/pattern combination one could need. The space was beautifully laid out, welcoming, and spacious. I will definitely be coming back for more sewing classes as Brian, the owner expressed to me that we he could instruct me on how to sew pants, shirts, curtains, or any article of clothing I may want.So glad I found Newton Sewing Studio and I will definitely be back for more.

Hipstitch: what do users think?
Janet Porcaro: Excellent opportunity for a child to learn to sew. Friendly happy staff members teach the kids step by step.
Kirsten Champlin: My daughters had the best time at their camp! They begged to go additional days and learned so much while they were there. We absolutely love this place!
Emily Rosenzweig: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueHad a great time learning how to sew with Megan! She was very patient and willing to set up extra sessions to finish things when I needed more time. Would recommend!
Leticia Davies: Let's go to camp to recharge our energy! As an adult, we spend our lives working, taking care of others and wishing for time on our own. Megan shows you how to revive your love of sewing and embroidery at the level that matches your ability. I brought sheets, shower curtains, and old table cloths and turned them into something I could wear. My stay in the Catskills was fun, invigorating and I met new folks that I've continued to stay in touch with through a monthly embroidery club. Megan has an easy style of teaching and communicating, a great sense of humor and her space is well organized with a vintage vibe. I'm going again this Summer!
Andy Sandino: Positive:QualityThe teachers were super friendly
naomi yu: I went to the summer camp a few years ago. I had a not-so-great time—I approached the owner, asking if I could do harder projects, as I already had sewing experience. She responded extremely harshly and irrationally. I left the camp the next day and went to a great camp called Newton Sewing Studio.
Rachel Lomasky: I had my 7 year old's birthday party here. The space is so fun, they designed a project he loved, and the helpers were amazing.
M Claremont: We just held our 5-year-olds birthday party at Hipstitch. Nicola and her team were wonderful -- even developing a new craft (Hippo puppet) based on the birthday boy's favorite animal! All the kids had such a great time, and we were able to bring a cake as well. Thanks so much Hipstitch!
Anna Farago: We celebrated my 8-year-old's birthday at HipStitch. The staff smoothly handled twenty 7-8 year old girls and everyone had a great time. The team at HipStitch first told the girls about the project and helped them pick out fabric and then did a brief lesson for the girls. Next each child sat at her own sewing machine to work on her project. All of the girls made fabulous pillows, and they were all incredibly proud of their work! We ended with pizza and cake in the back room. We will definitely be back for more camp days, and probably more birthday parties as this one was such a hit!
Janeth Yinh: My daughter’s 10th birthday party was a success. All her girlfriends greatly enjoyed stitching away to create their personalized keepsake pillows. Hipstitch team was very responsive in addressing all concerns regarding preparations for the bday party. Would definitely recommend
Nadine Gaab: My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday there and they had a blast! The class is fun and very professional and every child finished with a pillow or bag regardless of skill level. The staff was very friendly and everyone was very happy when they left. We will definitely be back!
M Sullivan: Knowledgeable, organized, and very patient staff created a fun learning experience for our group. Highly recommend a visit and will return in the future!
Shane Laporte: Hip Stitch organized a wonderful holiday party for my daughter and a group of her friends. The project was perfect and all the girls had a blast!
Jennifer Evans: My daughter had a her birthday at Hipstitch this weekend and loved it! The staff was warm, welcoming and helpful. They kept the party engaging and fun for the group and every guest walked away with an adorable completed project! My husband and I were really pleased and my daughter was thrilled!
Paulette Adams: Had a wonderful experience with 5 friends for a Sip & Sew night out!! Instructors were engaging, helpful and extremely accommodating. I highly recommend them and can't wait to go back!
Yurim Yi: I had a birthday party for my 8 years old girl there. They are very professtional and helpful. Kids really enjoyed the party and sewing. I like kids learn something and bring home something. I'd like to come to their program again. The place is also cozy and cute.
Genevieve Cremaldi: I had to make 11 Peter Pan collar shirts for my daughters school play. I was having a very hard time with the binding on the collar. I book a private lesson. Amy gave me so many helpful hints and showed me a much nicer neater way of sewing the collars. They came out beautiful! Thank you soooooo much!
Allison Coutts: I brought my 6 year old daughter & 11 year old niece to a mother/daughter sewing class and it was such a great experience! Both girls had never used a sewing machine and by the end of the class had made a pillow & headband! Our instructor (Kristen) was very knowledgeable and friendly encouraging the girls the whole time. We will definitely be back!
Mina Roustaei: Cute little store with lots of helpful helpers/employees. We held our Girl Scout sewing event there and our Daisy troop loved it. The girls had so much fun creating a beautiful doggie blanket. Parking is tricky but not a deal breaker. We recommend this fun place!
Sarah Bookbinder: Perfect place for a birthday party!
Laura Stevens: Kids LOVED the party. We had 14 kids for my daughter's 10th birthday party. They made tie dyed soaps and tinted lip balms, ate pizza and cake and had a blast. Hipstich even provided a cute little goody bag for each child. Strongly recommend!!!
