Boston Lindy Hop: what do users think?
Martha Caron: Excellent instructors, classes are well run and you can learn in graduated modules as well as repeat fundamental classes to stay current.
Harrison James (Htrom): Awesome teachers really fun teaching style! Thank you for the class!
Michelle Wood: Boston Lindy Hop is awesome! The teachers are clear and the classes are a blast. BLH puts an emphasis on consent, teamwork, and inclusivity, so it’s a great community to join! I started taking classes without knowing anyone and quickly made a lot of truly great friends. They offer a variety of different classes, so there’s something for every level, too. I honestly cannot recommend them enough… BLH is amazing!
elspeth macmillan: We had a great experience with Andrew & Andrea! We opted for private lessons, which was done in a safe & flexible way amidst COVID. I appreciate how patient & fun they were. As well as inclusive - my partner and I wanted to learn some tips on how 2 women can dance together (you dont realize how heteronormative dancing is until you're in public & want to jump up to dance with your girlfriend & not sure who takes the lead). They showed us how to both lead & feel more comfortable switching roles to dance in a more gender neutral way. Also, they're AMAZING dancers, so was fun to see what they can do! Highly recommend!
Shawn M: Great teachers in an easily accessible space.
Rachel Portwood: I can't say how much FUN Boston Lindy Hop is! I'm not a natural dancer, but their lessons break things down in a way that's totally accessible for anyone. Plus, it's such an incredibly welcoming community. I've grown so much in my dancing skills and laughed a lot along the way, all with the help and guidance with BLH. 100% recommend to anyone who's thinking of trying out swing dance.
Trey Bell: The team that taught the Beginner 6 count class was terrific! They were fun and engaging. It also helped that most of the folks in class were repeats and patient. The style of having us go with partners so we adapt and learn the steps was great, albeit a surprise (being a germaphobe, a heads up at sign up would have been great). The folks were great about keeping smiles on their faces and even better about not going too fast thru a night.I'm looking forward to re-taking that session soon!
Patricia Garcia: Boston Lindy Hop Lessons are awesome! I registered for the full series in May, taking lessons level 1 through three. They were all great! Instructors pay close attention to each student and help you improve your style, connection, the flow of your dancing while having fund and learning new steps. Each instructor was engaging, making the lessons fun, with a good balance of introducing a move, practicing, and practicing with music. It is a friendly environment inviting to build community of like minded people who love to dance. Highly recommended!!!
Andy Greenspon: As someone who had taken Lindy Hop classes for more than 3 years before going to Boston Lindy Hop, I can safely say that these instructors know what they’re talking about in their teaching. I have had at least one class with each of these instructors, and they are each friendly, funny, engaging, and knowledgable about the subtleties of Lindy Hop. I have taken both their fundamental and beyond fundamentals classes. For beginner dancers in the Fundamentals class, they teach the fundamental skills far beyond the basic steps and cover important topics such as connection, stretch, momentum, and aesthetics of movement. Focusing on the subtleties of this movement really helps to quickly improve your dancing in the future (and makes it more fun!). I always pick up a new thing to work on even when I take the fundamentals class (which changes its focus every month and rotates instructors who have different ideas to contribute). Their Beyond Fundamentals classes offer something to everyone who has been social dancing for a little while. Lastly, they solicit feedback after every month of lessons and definitely use that feedback to improve future lessons. Whether a beginner or more advanced dancer, I highly recommend trying out a month of their classes.
Megan K: While I can't speak for all the teachers, the ones I have had so far have been not only great at teaching, but also more than welcoming for a beginner like myself! Having never actually been to a class before, it was great to get some formal education down and learn what this and that and the other thing were called!

Swing City Boston: what do users think?
Bill L: Good dancing
Andy Latto: Great place to swing dance for beginners and experienced dancers alike! Good beginner class, great bands that know how to play for dancers, and friendly and welcoming dancers at all levels.
Roger Youmans: I went with a group of friends from church my first time and was hooked! My face hurt from smiling all night (it's true!) I had slipped back to the Roaring '20s with wonderful live music, youth, and energy! I didn't know places like this existed. Everyone danced! Half way through the night, guys were in the bathroom changing into clean dry shirts -- then back on the dance floor! It was just so fun!I came back the next week and took the free lessons again and got better. I had a blast! The next week, I brought a first date promising her a fun night of dancing. We had so much fun at the lessons together and then dancing to the amazing band, Eight To The Bar! About 2 years later, that sweet girl and I were married. I am so glad the memory of our first date will always be Swing City!Just go. You'll laugh, you'll smile, and you'll dance. Everyone does at Swing City.

Boston Swing Central: what do users think?
R M H: If you want to have fun and learn swing dancing this organization is absolutely insulting, rude, and dismissively elitist. Unwelcoming and unprofessional. Go anywhere else.
Harrison James (Htrom): So awesome! Great people that are super welcoming to newcomers. Thanks for hosting these events!
Sydney Cooney: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreatest swing dance place in Boston! Usually have live music, always an easy beginners lesson, and always lots of great people to dance with. Absolutely must check out!
Shannon Johnston: Ran into this group at NPS Naval Yard preparing for 8/10 celebration honoring those who kept the home fire burning. They are amazing teachers with care for all. Highly recommend.
King Car: Nice professional dancers
Andrew Selzer: Boston Swing Central is a great place whether you are an experienced swing dancer or taking lessons for the first time. For dancers who are new they have drop in lessons that are included with the cover charge that give you an introductory crash course on how to swing dance. In addition they have designed people with colored handkerchiefs called "Angels" and their job when the social dancing part of the evening starts is to dance with and be welcoming to new dancers. The majority of the time they have a live band every Friday, for the nights without a band they usually have qualified DJs who will spin fun tunes to dance with. Highly recommend you check this place out!
Kayla Dreyfuss: For someone newly joining the Boston Swing Dance community, BSC is an ideal place to start. This incredibly welcoming and friendly organization has gone out of their way to make Swing Dancing approachable for new people. Their "Angels" are experienced dancers who volunteer to dance with brand new folks for the first hour of the dance - no partner needed! The entry seems expensive at first glance - about $15 for the night. But when you realize that this includes an hour lesson, and about 4 hours of dancing to live music it doesn't seem so bad!The format of the lesson is extremely approachable - they start with the very basic of basics and within an hour you will work your way up from just finding the beat with your body to doing fancy turns! By the end of the night we had an arsenal of enough moves to last the whole night. Plus, you rotate partners throughout the lesson, so even if you didn't come with someone you still get to meet people to dance with for the rest of the night.Once the lesson is over, they turn down the big lights, and the room transforms into a sparkling dance hall filled with fantastic live music, and an evocative energy! It's hard not to dance!I can't recommend this welcoming scene highly enough.
Roya K: Well it was too crowded and it was hard to see what really goes on.I did not the way they teach too,I have been to other classes too which they have more trainer and they divide people according to their level for teaching the lessons!here it was a mix of old and young beginner and professional!rotating and changing the partner might be the rule of dance classes but it was overwhelmed for me and my husband,we really got tiered and we learned less than what we were hoping to.
Hsiu Chang: This dance studio is started by dancer for dancer. For the longest time swing dances were placed at bars in a church, which means it has to adjust to other's schedule. Furthermore, most dancers do not drink much, if you are jumping around all night you tend to drink water rather than alcohol. For that reason most swing dance do not bring enough revenue for the bar. If you are looking for a big open space to rent or dance to live band / DJ on a Friday night, this is the place.

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Boston: what do users think?
Regiane Ventouris: I couldn’t be happier about joining Boston Studio last year. At Arthur Murray, I have the opportunity to get a formal education and get out of my comfort zone by learning new dances such as foxtrot and waltz which were completely new to me. I would like to thank my instructor Gary, for being so patient, pushing me, teaching me discipline, challenging me, and even for saying NO when I want to change the music or the choreography at the last minute! Gary, you are a wonderful dancer and instructor and I am so proud to learn with you!I would like to thank Harrison for making me feel so safe and confident on the dance floor. It is a pleasure to dance any rhythm with you. I wish I could have dance lessons with you and Gary at least five times a week!!!
Niel johnson: We took the plunge earlier in the year and have enjoyed ourself so much that we signed up again for further classes. All of the staff are very friendly and so willing to help and have a joke with
Kate Evans: So you think you can't dance? Oh yeah, you can with this crew. Top shelf instructors who are committed, patient, and fun! Bjorn is my instructor, but all the instructors are great. The Boston studio vibe is inclusive and cool. Fellow students support each other. It's such a happy and no pressure place to be after a tough day at work. I can't wait to get here at the end of the day. Energy is next level. Six months ago I moved with the grace of a robot. This weekend, I cha cha cha-ed at an Afro Cuban concert with friends who were learning how to dance before they could walk - and I held my own. To be able to move like that and be comfortable doing it - having the confidence to do it - is incredible - and worth the hard work you put into it. Thank you to Bjorn and the entire staff and my fellow students for making the decision to do this one of the best things I've ever done for myself. See you on the dance floor! :-)
Dolly Lakkis: Can't say enough about my two teachers.Harrison and Kathryn are the most patient as well as talented teachers ever.Being 12 years at AM u can easily say that all the teachers are fabulous but my soft spot is for my duo.
Emily Goslin: Arthur Murray is my happy place!! All of the instructors are rock stars. This is THE place to dance and be yourself. ❤️
Katherine Rich: We have loved our lessons at Arthur Murray! Grady has been a fantastic instructor - teaching us both basic ballroom steps and coming up with choreography. And, the whole team is always incredibly friendly!
Sam Hoffman: My fiancé and I learned our first dance for our wedding at Arthur Murray Boston this year. We were so lucky to have had Grady as our instructor, as he was the best teacher we could ever have asked for - patient, thoughtful, and encouraging. Though we didn't have any dance experience before our lessons, we ended feeling much more at ease on the dance floor. Highly recommend this studio!
Debra Hammond: Dance lessons were a Christmas gift and we started them on our anniversary. It began as a date night. Then came the father-daughter dance for our daughter’s wedding, and a reprise of Color My World on our 40th anniversary. The instructors are great, very supportive and tuned in to your needs. It’s a warm environment and a place to make new friends.
Noriko Miyakoda: If you want to become a more confident dancer, I am telling you it's a MUST to go to Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Boston!! They will help you learn the basic dance steps and take it step by step to a new level. I highly recommend contacting them. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish, in dance, by diligently working with an instructor or with multiple instructors (I suggest working with multiple because each instructor sheds new information on a dance).
Ioana Preston: Here I am going on to my 6th year as a student at AM Boston! Unbelievable journey, amazing experience! The instructors and students there, we are a family, a wonderful community that share the love for dance. Dancing, taking lessons, learning new techniques, preparing routines and solos, competing, it is all now an important part of my life. When you dance, you touch the stars!
Stephen Gildert: Fantastic, friendly dance school. Very welcoming of dancers of all abilities. Structured dance programmes help you track progress. Lots of activities too. Dance teachers are all excellent. Big shout out to Sami who has guided our progress so well
Sriram Emani: I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started, but 3 years later I'm going strong and training in 10 styles of dancing. The quality of instruction is top notch, personalized and encouraging. Being able to dance regularly at community events and showcases keeps you on your toes and ensures you aren't pushing it off to later like we tend to do with hobbies. Couldn't have asked for a more supportive community that celebrates each step and milestone. I highly recommend joining the Arthur Murray Boston studio to learn that you can be a fabulous dancer and have a great time doing it!
Josh Ahadian: The staff are extremely knowledgable and personable. The variety of dances I am able to learn from experts one-on-one and the ability to practice in group classes and party settings provides a nice variety. I only wish it didn't cost as much as it does, but they offer many different payment plans to fit your budget.
Amanda Marr: We had a wonderful experience with our instructor Olivia. She took our concerns as newbies into consideration and was able to help us achieve exactly what we were looking for: natural, not stiff, not over-choreographed first wedding dance. She helped us give a basic structure to the dance and lots of helpful suggestions and tips/tricks. We even had enough time to squeeze in some mother/son and father/daughter lessons into our package as well. We enjoyed each lesson and her personality and professionalism put us at ease.
Andrew Yellis: The Situation:We were getting married in six weeks. My fiancee was a ballerina through the end of high school. I have danced three or four times, max.The Process:I looked online for a place that was convenient and had reviews for people who can't dance. The second studio I looked at was Arthur Murray, and they were (thankfully) the most responsive. After one intro lesson we knew we would stick with the studio (and the instructor) to get our wedding dance together. The Result:Six sessions went much faster than I ever expected. We learned and progressed with every minute spent in the studio (and really appreciated the extra practice time that came with the lessons). Dancing did not become the most dreaded part of my week in large part thanks to our instructor Catherine and I even (gasp) had fun.In the end, we came out with exactly what we asked for. A simple dance without strict choreography that flowed and allowed us to be creative within the basic structure we had built. I was told later that everyone watching had been aware she danced and I did not - and I exceeded expectations (since they were zero). All credit to Arthur Murray. If you are nervous or out of time or have dancing skill horribly mismatched with your partner, you owe it to yourself to schedule a lesson here.
D Harmon: Arthur Murray Boston is a wonderful place to learn to dance: top quality instructors and a wonderful and friendly group of people. I enjoy the group classes, the private lessons, the weekly dance parties, and the many other special showcases, balls and festivities. They work on technique so that you don't just dance, but you actually look good doing so. Be prepared to open your wallet, but remember you do get what you pay for, and in the case of Arthur Murray of Boston it is worth it!
Roxane Sadaghiani: Bijorn is the kindest dance instructor ever! He, no matter what, makes you feel you are the best and become motivated to practice more and more and enjoy dancing more and more!
Brooke Smith: We attended an 8-class lesson plan in preparation for our first dance at our wedding and are so glad we chose Arthur Murray. We worked with a few instructors, all of whom were so helpful (neither of us had much history in dancing). We felt confident heading into our first dance on our wedding day and proud of what they had helped us put together! Thank you Arthur Murray Boston team for your creativity, inspiration, and persistence in teaching. We are so grateful! Highly recommended to all couples looking for lessons.
Ron Akanowicz: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI've been taking lessons at the studio for over a year now and really enjoy the level of instruction I've received. I can see I've made real progress in my dancing and enjoy it even more! Thanks AMDSB!
Constance Innocenti: My husband and I just finished our first block of classes at Arthur Murray Boston dance studio. Definitely my new favorite hobby! I now want to learn ALL the dances!Side note: during covid they have been extremely cautious not to spread germs. Instructors are wearing masks and gloves. There is hand sanitizer available and separate clean and used pens. I feel comfortable going there and it has been a great activity to do during this social distance period.
Anthony Scheff: My wife and I took ballroom dance lessons at this studio to prepare for our first dance, and we could not be happier with the results. We worked with Gary and Mariah, who were both wonderful. Our lessons were masked and socially distant because of the COVID pandemic, but they made us feel safe and comfortable. Our guests raved about our first dance, which is definitely more reflective of the professional instruction we received than our own dancing abilities. Whether you want to practice for a specific event or are just looking to become a better dancer, we highly recommend the Arthur Murray Studio of Boston.

Dance in Boston: what do users think?
Norma Heine: Quiero tomar clases de baile para Séniors como ejercicio..
Elektra Alivisatos: We found Michele online to help us prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We had never done any formal dance lessons together but had a vision of what we wanted. Michele did an excellent job choreographing our dance to meet our abilities and preferences, including adjusting the music speed! We looked forward (and miss them!) to our lessons with Michele which were often filled with lots of laughter. Highly recommend working with Michele if you're ready to show off some moves for any occasion!
Melissa Grasso: Michele was literally the best part about planning the wedding. The only thing we wanted was a choreographed dance and she made it happen in 10 weeks (you don't need that much, we just wanted the extra time). She'll take you from zero to whatever level you want to get to. We really looked forward to our lesson every week. It was fun and Michele is hilarious. Couldn't recommend more highly. We're planning to return to take regular lessons for fun.
Jessica Olans: Michele was so much fun! She was patient with me and my husband who have zero coordination or dance past. It was truly a pleasure getting to spend time with Michele at the studio each week leading up to our wedding. We were in need of one more practice and she had us at her home which was above and beyond!! Thank you Michele!
Katie Way: Michele is amazing!! Before meeting Michelle, my now husband and I had no idea even how to box step which was nerve-wracking going into our wedding. But over 6 lessons, she helped ingrain the proper steps and the rhythm (well my husband still struggles with rhythm but thats a different story). Michele was fun to work with, she was very lively and observant. By the time our dance came around we both felt comfortable and ended up having a blast. She even helped us with a few spins/twirls which our guests loved. We highly recommend Michele for anyone looking for dance lessons! Thank you!
Trevor Schwartz: Michele is amazing! She taught my mother and me our mother-son wedding dance twice, 10 years apart (once for the wedding and again for my mom’s 70th). Michele was quick to assess our ability and teach us appropriate moves. We loved her creativity and easy to follow instructions. Highly recommend!
Emily Cannizzaro: We had the best experience working with Michele. My now husband and I were nervous about our first dance. We knew we didn’t want to slow dance back and forth like we were back in middle school. We also knew nothing about dancing and struggled to even do the basic box step when we first started our lessons. We were intimidated and unsure if we could pull off a real choreographed dance. We decided to trust the process and Michele and slowly the lessons became easier and more fun than ever. It was a perfect date night to get away from the craziness of wedding planning. We’ll never forget this dance. The pictures, videos and looks on our guests faces will be memories we cherish forever. We can’t thank you enough Michele for our perfect first dance! Highly recommend this studio and you won’t be disappointed if you choreograph a dance for your big day with Michele!
David R: We loved working with Michele! We came to her with literally zero dance experience. She was welcoming and encouraging, and choreographed a simple and fun dance that we loved. Michele was also flexible when we almost changed our song with two weeks to go, helping us explore some new ideas before we eventually came back to our original song. We are so happy we found her!
Brady Lenahan: Michele does a great job. We enjoyed the lessons and the dance was a success on wedding day :)
Ryan Callanan: We couldn't have been happier with our experience with Michele! She made us feel comfortable and gave us little tricks to remember our dance moves. We didn't do a choreographed dance but she gave us the tools we needed to make us look like we did! To all the engaged couples preparing for their first dance, GO SEE MICHELE!
Catherine Mills: We found Michele on Yelp and the wonderful reviews are all true. She was so much fun to work with and our dance lesson date nights were a blast. Michele took two people with four left feet and helped us learn a fun a beautiful first dance for our wedding. She pushed us out of our comfort zones and taught us a lift that shocked every one of our wedding guests!
Brian Hanafin: Michele was a fantastic dance instructor! She tailored our lessons exactly as we were looking for and we are now well prepared for our wedding in just a few short weeks. Could not recommend her enough!
Juan Arcila: Michele is a fantastic teacher! She is personable, patient, and makes the classes very fun! We looked forward to her classes every week while we practiced for our wedding dance. We can’t wait to perform it! I highly recommend Michele!
Emily Geller: Highly recommend working with Michele at Dance in Boston if you want to learn or improve your dancing. We saw her for several private dance lessons to learn a dance for our wedding. I’m not very coordinated and had never taken a lesson before and Michele did wonders teaching me and being patient as I learned. I’m shocked how much I improved and so quickly. We felt so confident doing our dance and dancing the rest of the night at our wedding. Already been using the techniques at other events too. We had so much fun at all the lessons and have already recommended her to our friends! Super helpful she has evening classes which made it easy to fit in the few months before our wedding.
Conor Moore: My fiancé and I did 5 lessons for our 1st dance. We were both very self conscious about our dance ability and by the end, totally confident and ready for our wedding! Michele is a phenomenal teacher, I truly couldn’t believe the progress we made in a few weeks. Would highly recommend!!
David O'Connor: Michele is awesome! My wife and I used her to prepare for our first dance at our wedding, and she made the whole experience so relaxing and enjoyable. She instantly made us feel comfortable, and we shared plenty of laughs along the way, not to mention successfully taught us a great dance! Would highly recommend! We also love her dogs :)
Jen Hickey: My fiancé and I took dance lessons here for our wedding dance and had an awesome time with Michelle. She was kind, helpful and informative- we loved the classes and working with her!
mike n: My wife and I took lessons for our daughters wedding. Our Daughter and son in law also took lessons. Michelle is great!!! Great communicator and teacher.
Jordan k: Had a wonderful time practicing our first dance here. Michele is a great teacher
Marianne Gorski: Michele said she makes ballroom dancing fun and she was right! Looking forward to our first dance thanks to Michele.
Felipe: Michele is a fantastic patient instructor with great vision on how to arrange a dance, and above all patience for those of us who are less skilled in the dancing arts. Over four lessons she helped us put together a gorgeous routine that impressed all our guests, and which made us feel good about ourselves on the dancefloor, including several turns that looked technically challenging and which proved to be a breeze under her tutelage. She also did a great job of defraying our nerves and making sure we were properly prepared.Absolutely recommend her for any and all dancing needs.

Hamby Ballroom Dance Studio: what do users think?
Maryann Jacobs: My husband and I have been taking weekly private couples lessons with Suzanne for over two years, and have been thoroughly impressed. When we first took dance lessons over 25 years ago, we thought our instructor was great. But after working with Suzanne we see what a truly gifted teacher can offer. She quickly figures out what we are doing wrong and offers good suggestions on how to fix mistakes. She doesn't just teach the motions of a "step" but goes into the body position, balance and technique that make it exceptional. Suzanne is patient when we repeat mistakes or demonstrate "fish memory," and employs creative teaching techniques- when one approach doesn't resonate, she quickly changes tack to find one that does. She is very personable, professional and courteous, with a quick wit and sense of humor. We have a blast and laugh through each lesson. We highly recommend Suzanne Hamby to anyone wishing to begin learning ballroom dancing or improve dance technique.
Whitney: My husband and I recently completed a package of dance lessons at the Hamby Ballroom Dance Studio. We adored our instructor, Dick, who was patient, kind, and made us laugh, all of which helped us relax and learn the proper dance steps. Over the course of 1.5 months, we got enough of the American foxtrot down to make the first dance look successful.Thank you, Dick and Suzanne!

OUT to Dance: what do users think?
Sheryl Wagner: My wife and I took dance lessons before our wedding and had a great experience. The hours literally flew by and each time we left in such a great mood! Liz is a fantastic teacher, we felt totally comfortable and had so much fun!
Warren O'Reilly: Wedding dance for the ages.!!!Liz and the staff of Out to dance worked with us in the weeks and months leading up to our wedding to meet us at our level of proficiency and work with us on our first dance. It need not be mentioned how stressful the time on the run up to a wedding is, but every week we met with Liz we left feeling joy, connection and confidence.Liz focused on where we were and our skill level and helped us build a dance that was emotional and memorable as much as it was technically proficient. Needless to say the dance went off without a hitch on the day and people told us it was the most unique first dance they had seen (even if it’s a lie it’s out wedding day so I’m taking it ). Look forward to dancing with Liz and all the folks at Out to dance in the future.
Anne Mackin: You can't imagine a warmer, more personable dance teacher, or one more perceptive about each person's strengths and weaknesses. Learning to dance with Liz comes close to dance therapy. And because she values the dancers' experiences over dancing to impress, the results are actually better and more impressive! My husband and I took lessons before our son's wedding and we looked forward to our lessons and really enjoyed ourselves.
