Frederick Bernard Stewart: New Team Members, new Smiles! Prices seem to have stabilized. My usual dozen eggs was priced recently at $2.99 has dropped back to a reasonable $1.99. Millk remains at a $1.99 up 20 cents. You just have to look at prices everywhere but Trader Joe's is the best all around.
Sam Ou: This Boylston Trader Joe's is small and efficient and has good inventory. However it'd be great if they would eventually expand because it can get pretty busy and snug there in the basement during peak hours. That said, they always have great prices for lots of yummy frozen foods, and the people who work there are always friendly! Snacks, produce, bread, pasta, tea, coffee...you name it, they have it! It's amazing how much they can fit into such an efficiently small space.

David Cowan: This is apparently a very popular Trader Joe’s. There’s almost always a line here. But it goes pretty fast and the cashiers are always friendly. Not the best location for drivers, though. But that’s no fault of theirs. Parking pretty much sucks in that whole neighborhood. So I only go to this location when I’m at work nearby. I’m addicted to their ginger snap cookies. Be warned that if you start eating them, you might not be able to stop.

Diamond Boone: Traders Joes Allston is so awesome! I work for a nursing home company and they give generous flower donations to the residents that live within the facility! This absolutely brings a smile to the residents face and now they look forward to it weekly! The flowers are so beautiful it brings tears to their eyes. Trader Joe’s does a great job of working within the community and supporting the nursing home community with donations. We are forever grateful for the generous support we get from Trader Joe’s Ivana ( sorry I think I spelled her name wrong) is such a pleasure to work with! She is pleasant and presents with great customer service skills. Laura is also an amazing team member! Always very sociable and welcoming! I look forward to coming to this TJ weekly! Ample validated garage parking, wide aisles, wine/beer/liquor section, wide aisles, substantial floral section, well laid out, feels nice and spacious even on busy days. I will always take the extra few minutes to head here over the Coolidge Corner location, personally.

G Ed: Insanely crowded! Apparently this is the 4th busiest TJs in the USA! Staff was super friendly but the customers all shop under a smug cloud. Their staff is constantly filling the shelves so they have all the favorites. I’ll be back.
Josh Johnson: I love the new register layout, I don't need to worry about choosing the wrong lane. Parking isn't fun though, people don't seem to know how to drive in the parking lot.

Ed Chen: Trader Joe's is named after its founder, Joe Coulombe. The company began in 1958 as a Greater Los Angeles area chain known as Pronto Market convenience stores. Coulombe felt the original Pronto Markets were too similar to 7-Eleven, which he described as the "800-pound gorilla of convenience stores", concerned the competition would be too much.Coulombe developed the idea of the Trader Joe's South Seas motif while on vacation in the Caribbean. The Tiki culture craze was still widespread in the United States in the 1960s, so in a direct nod to the fad, the Trader Joe's name itself was a spoof on Trader Vic's, the famous tiki-themed restaurant that had opened its first southern California location in the Beverly Hilton in 1955. Eating at Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills was notoriously expensive, but the Trader Joe's in Pasadena provided an irreverent and less expensive offering of food and drink. Coulombe noted two trends in the US that informed the merchandising of his new store concept: one, the number of college-educated people was rising steadily, due in part to the G.I. Bill, and two, with new jumbo jets due to premiere in 1970, international travel would be accelerating as well. A better educated, more well-traveled public were acquiring tastes they had trouble satisfying in American supermarkets at the time.
Bill C: Trader Joe’s is always good, but this one may be the BEST! Not the biggest, in fact they seem to restock the whole store every day, but the staff is amazing.

Shane T: Nice people. Healthy choices. My wife--in preparation for the Boston Marathon--could not find canned chicken to make a simple night before, pre-race meal. They did, however, have precooked chicken in the refrigerated section which made an excellent 2nd choice, but also was a bit higher price. Nonetheless, we got our food plus some kombucha and everybody in the store, including customers were kind and helpful. I think the Bostonians can smell the country on me and recognize that I needed help figuring out where everything was. I am a fan, a product, and a practitioner of Southern Hospitality. I must say that Boston has their own form of it, but I just don't know what it's called up here. But everyone here has been great.
Mel: This Trader Joe's is HUGE! There is another one closer to my house, but I drive the extra distance here since they have more stock. There is also always a ton of parking available.

B Zhang: Small parking lot and you can't leave the lot by going back through the Dunkin Donuts lot which is annoying. Sunday afternoon is the most crowded time; luckily the aisles are wide enough. Most of the cashiers are pretty fast though and there are many of them during peak hours. They don't sell wine or alcohol at this Trader Joe's location so it's not as crowded.

Mary-Claire Smithson: Sometime in the last year or so the service at this store has plummeted. THEY DO NOT BAG YOUR GROCERIES AT ALL if you bring your own bags -- the checkers just toss the bags down, start scanning items as fast as possible and watch items pile up. Once they finish scanning, they will literally watch you bag everything. On a regular weekday morning when it's not busy, workers will literally stand there at their registers, leaning against registers with arms crossed, doing nothing, while you bag everything. A couple times I've asked for their help just to make it faster, and regretted it: the cashier, with obvious displeasure, shoved everything they could into one bag, overstuffing it, with avocados on the bottom. Just weird and utterly passive-aggressive, and obviously something the staff has agreed upon since you can look down the registers and no one is bagging. I can understand wanting customers to help, and I always did -- but literally not doing anything? I've been to multiple TJ's in Boston, NYC, and midwest cities in the past year and no others are this bad on service.Staff on the floor are usually super-helpful, which is why it's so mid-boggling that they are drawing a line in the sand with bagging?

It's not my primary super market because they don't have everything we like/need but it's awesome as a supplement food shop to grab items you can't find in other places. Also so much cheaper than whole foods and the quality is much better too. This one is pretty small so they don't carry everything. If you're coming from far away I'd pick another one to make sure they have everything you want. I often go to the Needham location since they carry more items and are less likely to be out of stock.

Margo Ezekiel: Trader Joe's contributes food to the Newton Freedge. As a thank you, the Newton Freedge is giving every contributing business a gift card to another participating business. I tried my hardest to give one to Trader Joe's in Needham (forgetting the woman's name) and she adamantly refused saying that giving to the Freedge is a gift to them, knowing that the food will be used. She said I should give the gift card to someone who really needs it. I was humbled and impressed by her attitude. I'm already a dedicated Trader Joe's shopper but this just put another feather in their cap.
