Guitar Center: what do users think?
Daylis Alonzo: Muy buenos y muy amables sus empleados..
Santo Ramirez: Exelente Servicio, Precios bajos..!
Alex K: The worst experience.I asked them to lower the strings on my acoustic guitar. They charged me for a platinum setup which includes new strings but instead they used my own string without asking my permission. They did not lower the strings, and its "platinum" setup took five days.
Champ: Synthesizers
Carolyn Willander: Went in and asked for a mic stand. Very clearly did not know my way around this stuff since I walked right to the counter when I came in and asked for help. Got home and learned it didn’t come with a clip for the mic. Good service would have asked if I needed it.
Jessica Luo: This place makes me want to shop at sweetwater
Samantha Em: Helpful and patient
Caroline: The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when we were picking out my son's first guitar. We will defiantly be back!!!
Scott McDiarmid: Great shop. Lots of inventory and helpful staff.
Stephanie Joseph: super helpful and informative employees. i walked in and was immediately greeted and assisted. i was on the hunt for something my partner needed and i had no idea what to look for. the employees grabbed it and told me about their replacement policy in case my item broke they would replace it. which is amazing!!! you can tell everyone working actually enjoys their job here and it’s refreshing to see. especially these days.
Cesar Garcia: Staff is great, but the variety of instruments and accessories is low compared to any other guitar center. Because is closed to college, most guitars have a lock and you must leave you credit card on the counter if you have to test a pedal. I didn't like the experience, again, compared to other guitar center I have visited.
Alp Arhan Uguray: Worst possible experience at this store. People are smoked high out of their minds at this shop. You’d spend hundreds of dollars of money on equipment and the customer experience you get is same as picking up a product from trash. My recommendation is to visit Boylston store for anybody out there, looking to purchase music equipment.Additionally, they lose equipment. I gave my guitar for repair before Covid and after Covid hit the said they lost it. Since everyone is high, they do not remember much what happened and who picked up the equipment. I am sorry to say this but avoid this store unless you are 8 years old and starting to play the flute to play jingle bells only
Elizabeth McIlroy: Super friendly staff that will help you feel comfortable and have everything that you need! Thanks for the help!
Sávio Júnior: Great staff...very smoothly guys!
Stephen Parnell: Wednesday, July 6th at Boston Guitar Center at about 12:30-12:45PM - you had a very talented person working at the Guitar Center. He had a Martin guitar that he was working on. I was wondering how much that Particular Martin guitar was. He was doing such a beautiful job with that guitar. He worked diligently on it as well as. I’d love to know his name or how much the cost of the guitar was?
Tristan DeCelles: Decent outlet, but small. Has stocked your basic/ and or general merchandise. So its not a bad stop to resupply on sticks if you're a drummer (drummah) like me or strings or picks if you're a guitar boss. It's a small store and I must admit the drum section is pitiful. Not much there. If you're looking to fool around in a drum section go to the Fenway store it has much more sample/display drums. Again, not a bad store since from what I could tell from my single visit the staff were agreeable and chill.
Gary Luongo: Max was very helpful with my questions and purchase. Thanks, Gary aka Louie Spats 😎
Kelvin Lewis: Very informative personal..
Matt: Love Guitar Center for the most part. As far as the pro coverage is concerned I am very disappointed. The salesman told me they would replace broken gear (in my case headphones) on the spot without a receipt. The day came where my headphones that I bought last year needed to be replaced. I brought them into the same store. Things did not go as the salesman from last year described. I was told to contact the insurance company to make a claim, who asked me for a receipt. Very disappointed with this one particular salesperson.
bzon66 .LoveDad06: Great place to shop And very nice customer service.

Guitar Stop®: what do users think?
Logan Thompson: Reviewing low for two reasons:1. Their repair competence is very low. They couldn’t diagnose several basic issues with my guitar, which another luthier spotted easily2. They have a small selection of low end to mediocre guitars
Davis Sweet: The owners are very nice, but they don't stock higher-end instruments
Daniele M. Becker (DANA): Impeccable
Gary Luongo: Glad they stock the D'Addario Folk Nylon strings I like. Jean was very helpful and nice. Thanks Gary
Andrey Fedorov: I love this store, and am very happy to support this small business, which at times has a better selection than big retailers. I was saddened to hear they are vehemently opposing the bike lane initiatives of the city. I want to say that I never had a pressing need to park in front of this store. Parking space availability is not going to affect my interest or ability to shop here. Update: I believe the bike lane design being implemented by the city is the best attempt we have at balancing the needs of various stakeholders of the community.
Jayson Hreczuck: Owner vocally against basic infrastructure improvements. If you care about public and pedestrian safety, take your business elsewhere.
Tony B: It's a nice little family owned shop with a wide selection of quality products; issue is that I've gotten 3 guitars setup here and all 3 of them have buzzed when I got them home. One so badly that I couldn't overcome it and had to bring it back. Maybe they are taking on too many jobs and the tech is trying to crank them out too quickly, but $60ish for a setup that I then have to fix is a dealbreaker for me.
Scot Fitzsimmons: Small shop, well stocked for strings and accessories. Owner is super helpful!
paul trunnell: Super friendly and professional, great selection of reasonably-priced stuff, love that they have several left-handed guitars always in stock. I generally drop in for small stuff (strings, guitar hanger, slide, etc.) and they always have what I'm looking for.
Sketches for you: I was going to buy a bass guitar here, but the lady wouldn’t let me try out any of them, even though there was no one else in there, AND I had brought my headphones. What’s more is that she wasn’t busy at the moment. I ended up going over to Mr. Music in Allston to get a bass and bass amp from there.
César Rincón Mayorga: I love this place. They've got a whole bunch of Fender instruments. The people who tends you here are extremely nice, and they know their products. I got lucky there was a 75th anniversary Fender Telecaster on sale and, well, I bought it.5/5.
Thomas J: Hands down the best place to go for Fender. Huge selection. Just bought an excellent Professional Strat to go with the Performer Tele I bought here a few months ago. Tried a bunch of guitars and they have everything you could want up and down the line. Very patient with me on both experiences and I am VERY picky. Go to some other shops, try them as I did, you will return to Guitar Stop. Ten stars!
Robert Goodwinr: Cozy place with lots of great stuff inside, including lefty players which is what attracted me being a left handed player. This is a family owned place from what I gather, and everyone that i've met here has been very nice to me. So, not sure why there's negative reviews posted here. One of the guitars i bought kept fret buzzing, brought it back weeks later and turned out to be a bad neck, exchanged no problem. Restrung one of my guitars right in front of me, set action, intonation and left within that hour of arriving. *****JEAN - I just wanted to say a big Thank You for adjusting the bridge on my Strat the other day! It's plays out great now staying in tune very strong!! Appreciate. See you guys later, til next time****. Robert
Juana Mendoza: I got my ukulele three months ago I love it! And when I didn't know which ukulele I should get they help me right away.they help me on Which size I should I get and the 7 day return policy help me a lot on if a which size. So I recommend
Billy Lazzaro: Lovely shop, incredibly kind and patient staff
Clawman Segele: Guitar Stop is a great place to get a beautiful instrument. They have a very broad and very nice selection of quality instruments, that are quite affordable. The staff is very responsive to emails and very helpful in store as well. I would highly recommend Guitar Stop to any musicians looking to get a nice guitar, bass, banjo, or any of the other nice instruments they have!
iZyxel: Really enjoyed my experience there! The staff were really nice. The pickups on the bass I bought were a bit loose but that's alright, probably came loose on the way home, which I can fix.
Jonathan Roses: Knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful staff.
Larry: I purchased a guitar online with curbside pickup. The staff were very responsive to my email inquiries and friendly during pickup. I look forward to returning when in-store shopping is available again.
Tim Russell: Best place for lessons. Instructors listen to students. Easy to schedule.
Owen Turner: Amazing little guitar store. You can tell they really care about guitars and guitarists.

Guitar Center: what do users think?
DJ Matthew: I wanted to buy a speaker. I was able to hear it listen to a live before I bought it. The person helping me was very helpful. There's very little free parking but It's worth it to see all the products here all the products live before you buy it
Jose Mercedes Alvarez: Guitar Center una Empresa con artículos de primera calidad a precios sin competencia. En caso, sus servicios son una garantía a mi inversión.
Benjamin Wilson: Brought my beginner 12 y/o to the store and were happy with Glenno's service. Would definitely go back.
Marc Vidal: The Environment is not always ideal to try things ( as it can be pretty noisy). But the team was nice and I found several instruments there :)The second hand part of the store is nice to get good deals.
Frank Buckley: Great experience
Adam Gesuero: Glen-O took great care of my buddy and I on our recent trip to Fenway Guitar Center. We were there for hours trying out tons of axes, and he helped us out but was never pushy. Gave our guitars some fine-tuning, adjusted the necks and polished ‘em up nice. Ask for him when you go there.
Daniel Franklin: Awful customer service! Can't even respond to a complaint after giving the worst customer service in Boston. Don't even bother visiting.
Adam Harris: Great service, good prices, fun time for the family. Some people can be pushy.
Zeus Pedersen: Don’t shop at this location. The customer service is terrible with the exception of a couple employees. I brought my bass in to have brand new pickups installed: I was informed on the pickup day a week later that my bass required extra time and that I was being charged $45 extra for extra work they had to do. Upon getting it back, my bass produced little to no sound. I brought it back and after plugging it into multiple amps we got no results and I got no answers. I asked for at least a %50 refund and was refused and was then told they could take it back to fix it but they’d charge me full price. The store manager then said “sorry, i don’t know what to tell you.” I brought it to someone else & they had it fixed within 15 minutes. As a newer musician, I’m very discouraged from shopping at the place that’s supposed to be the go-to spot.
R Z: I would definitely recommend this location..I received not only great help in finding headphones but I also had a great guitar lesson
Parker Tichko: The scene: It is New Year's Eve Day, the final day of the year, and you're driving to Guitar Center to pick up a new digital piano for your son. You'd like him to start piano lessons this year. You find the back parking lot full, so you decide to idle in front of a garage door that says "DO NOT BLOCK" and "NO PARKING," after arranging for a contact-less pick-up. It should be quick, you think to yourself. You notify the store that you've arrived via email and the curbsy website. You wait 10 minutes. You wait some more. You check the curbsy website, and it doesn't seem to be loading correctly. Moreover, the chat feature, which allows you to "chat" with the store, doesn't seem to be working. You turn off the car and decide to walk into the store to get the digital piano you've ordered. You're greeted by the door, and an employee immediately finds your contact-less pick-up order. He sends another employee out back to pack the piano into your car. What service! You walk back outside, excited to be on your way for NYE, only to find that your car battery is dead. Your car won't start, and it is now blocking the "DO-NOT-BLOCK" garage door. Another Guitar Center employee, who parked inside the garage, opens the garage door to find your dead car blocking his exit. He is desperate to leave his shift to celebrate NYE. He's kind and helpful, and he offers to jump your car with his cable. He tries, but it doesn't work. You're about to throw your car into neutral and manually push it out of the way so he can leave and celebrate the new year. You begin to mentally prepare to call a tow truck, knowing there might be limited service on NYE and that it will likely cost you an arm and a leg. Suddenly, another Guitar Center employee arrives. He has a long, wirey beard, but his eyes seem kind. He offers to try jumping your car again, this time, using his jumper cables. You're skeptical, convinced that it might be a bad starter and not a dead battery. He connects both black ends of the cable to the negative terminals on the two batteries. You tell him that one of the black ends needs to be grounded. He says not to worry, that he does this thing all the time. It works. He's right. Shaken but relieved, you step out your car, unsure how to thank your Good Samaritans. Before you can say anything, he extends his hand and says "happy new year." You shake it. Dazed, you step back into your car and begin to drive to O'Reilly's auto-parts to purchase a new battery with a new digital piano stuffed in your trunk. As you drive off, you hear the distant sound of shredding neo-classical arpeggios coming from a squealing guitar. You imagine it's the employee with the long, wirey bead. You feel grateful. Five stars.
Luke Pynchon: Tried to buy a Maschine Plus here twice. The first time I bought it used, but there were some glitches so I had to return it. The second time, I ordered it new, which cost me a bit more. When I picked it up and arrived home, I realized that the "new" Maschine I had bought was in worse shape than the used one I returned previously; no SD card, missing accessories such as he headphone adapter. There was even melted chocolate on the inner packaging. I was told it was ordered from another warehouse. Clearly Guitar Center doesn't take the time to check and make sure you've received what you paid for when you order a new item. This item is hard to get, and Guitar Center wasted about two weeks of time that could've been put towards waiting for a competent retailer to deliver it. Ordered from Sweetwater who has already been much more helpful. If you're thinking of ordering a large - ticket from Guitar Center, stop right there. Go to Sweetwater instead. They actually know what they're doing. Guitar Center is great for low - ticket items though. If you need a place that can be trusted with selling you a box of cables and a guitar pick, go to Guitar Center, but I wouldn't trust them not to screw up purchases much larger than that
Edenilze Halluch: Show time. 2 foor of music and all you need for music
Diana Rodriguez-Quiles: brought my bass to trade it in for something else. at first the staff was nice, as soon as they saw my puertorrican ID they turned sour. started to say that my ID isn’t valid (which it is), and i painfully explained how the US owns Puerto Rico and they still wouldn’t get it. they finally agreed to give me money for it, undershot what the bass was worth, and eventually gave in to some negotiation. worst experience i’ve had with my ID, they also insisted that they had to take a picture of me for this process which i found very inappropriate considering everything that went down.
Patrick Scott Welsh (Pag): Me and Marty (what I named my Martin accoustic which I picked up here) are in love. We will never forget where we first met.
Nainil Maladkar: The place has a variety of options to chose from and has guitars of every type and price range.
K L: Bought a guitar cabinet from the online store, this store shipped it as “new” and when I called customer support they argued it’s ok because it’s “like new” and still playable, at least to their standards. I paid full price for a new cab, not a display model that are currently listed on the site for 2/3s the price. There is literally nothing Guitar Center could do at this point to ever get my business again after all the bad experiences I’ve had.
Donovan Jermyn: I mean it's okay. When you go in to just browse the sales team will hound you and then when you have money and need to buy something, they all disappear. Literally took an hour to buy two pedals.
Hendrik Gideonse: I made an appointment the day before to check out acoustic bass guitars. The guy on the phone was very nice and put some instruments together in the store for me. I came in to check out the instruments and the instruments weren't in very good shape. The strings on the instruments were old and oxidized even on the 'new' instruments. I figured, it's been a long pandemic, probably not a lot of people buying instruments in person. All of the necks were way out of adjustment with much more neck relief than was correct. All of the instruments intonated sharp as you went up the neck because the strings were too high. I basically was bending the strings sharp just fretting notes. There was one instrument that I liked the sound of, but the neck needed to be adjusted so I could check the intonation. I went over to the repair office and asked if he would adjust the truss rod. The guy said he was too busy to adjust the neck today. He clearly viewed me as an annoyance. He definitely didn't want to help me out. It takes about a minute to do the adjustment. Turning a wrench, maybe a third to a half turn. I asked if I could use the 5mm wrench to do it myself. Again no. This was more expected because he doesn't know me, but I had hoped that it would encourage him to help me out. He was not in the middle of a re-fret or a bridge reglue, but playing an instrument, maybe checking a set up. To me the customer in the store is the priority. It was really disappointing and a waste of my time. I know why this happened. The repair guy has no incentive to help sell an instrument. He probably is getting pressure to do more work than is reasonable. The store didn't have any sales folks on the floor because business is slow these days. But I literally had $1000 in cash to buy an instrument and couldn't get help to buy one. So I went home and ordered a bass off eBay. Now I am spending the afternoon cutting a new bone nut and saddle. If you aren't getting help from humans in the store, brick and mortar is gonna die.
William Boxx: I found the MIDI cable i needed!
Wazir Gray: James and Kemit were awesome! Highly recommend this location

South Shore Music: what do users think?
Rose Mary: Wanted to take gutiar lessons they never called it is okay there are other places
Thomas David: I had a great experience at South Shore music. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, incredible inventory, and outstanding customer service. They made buying my Yamaha BBNE2 bass guitar a special occasion. Thanks!
Tommy Yasewicz: Employees do a really nice job helping you find the right guitar, but also keeping their distance and not being pushy.Website is also surprisingly fantastic. If the owner reads this, I really appreciate your online inventory and encourage you to keep it detailed because it'll bring in people from outside Quincy like me.Additionally, the prices are not marked up. I did my research and the guitar I picked up was priced at or lower than the mass retailers would sell at. I'll still always support local regardless, but it was a pleasant surprise. They also have a skilled technician that sets up your guitar exactly as you want it so you can be confident you'll mesh with it perfectly.I cannot put my new guitar down!
Sean C.: Great shop with very knowledgeable and approachable staff! Small businesses like this are great to have in the neighborhood. You will never get a buying experience or warranty support if you have an issue from the big stores around. Very happy with the guitar purchases I've made here
Alice Collins-Wooley: Neat variety of drums, keyboards, and guitars as well as products for themMonday, September 5, 2022 CE, 22:40 EST
Mike Kay: I may be showing my age, but I remember a time before the mass retailers came into the picture; that great local music store with real musicians and players, you got to know them and vice versa. Also, the customers who came in to try a guitar usually came in to either buy or every now and then play their dream guitar – but they could play. They didn’t just come in to crank up the volume and play the same riff over and over for an hour as you find in the big stores! To my surprise I found that classic music store in South Shore Music. I had purchased a guitar and within a few days realized it just wasn’t connecting with me. These guys had no problem taking it back as they get it. If that connection is missing, it’s not the right guitar. I did not have time to consider others that day and hope to be back soon. The clear differentiation is the staff and the service. They all have knowledge, credibility, and experience. Most importantly, they go out of their way to help you and make sure you are satisfied. If you want a classic music store with great service, this is the place.
Rich Maxwell: This is one of my absolute favorite music shops. Peter and his staff are courteous, patient, and answer any questions you may have. All of the instruments on wall are in excellent shape new or used. You can tell they clean, tune, and setup the gear they sell on a regular basis which shows how much they truly love what they do. If you’re a bass player, this should be your go to place. F Bass, Sadowsky, Mayones, Fodera, and more! Shop with confidence! You’ll enjoy the experience and walk out with a superior instrument!
Donna Mavromates: Brought my guitar in because I was having difficulty playing it with the factory setup and thought it needed to be adjusted. Peter chatted with me about the issues I was having and determined that just a small adjustment to the truss rod would make a difference. 10 minutes later he handed me back my guitar to try and it was so much easier for me to play - even the barre chords I had been struggling with. Fantastic, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service from a locally owned music shop. Highly recommend!
D C: I've lived on the South Shore for over 20 years yet somehow never managed to go in to this store. Went into today for the very first time because I've been watching their webpage for a while and just saw a guitar become available that I was interested in (PRS Fiore). Nice clean store with a good selection of guitars from different price ranges and some cool boutique amps as well. Staff was friendly and helpful and a pleasure to talk to. I bought the guitar I came in to try....my first PRS. I'll visit again for sure.
Bergantino Audio: It is an honor working with Peter and his team. True professionals and they always offer great advice and support!
Tim: Bought a Les Paul from these guys. Great selection of different brands in the electric guitars. Very helpful staff.
Jennifer Boychuk: Highly recommend South Shore!Knowledge and service was was top notch. Peter really went the extra distance to ensure a smooth transaction from start to finish with delivery to my doorstep here in Canada.Very appreciative!
Tim Venchus: Finally got to spend some time here. The staff was super helpful and had a great knowledge of the basses they had in stock. They were very patient with me, answered my questions, and offered suggestions for things to try. Highly recommended!
Mary Perry: I am a beginning guitar player. The employees of South Shore Music were so patient when my lack of knowledge required several explanations. They were patient and clear. I also had the opportunity to seeexperienced guitar playing customers handled with the same attentiveness to detail. It was obvious thatthe entire spectrum of guitar players-from beginners to expert-would find going to South Shore Music not only informative and helpful but an all-around really pleasant experience.
Joshua Hassol: I would give 6 stars if I could. They set up my G&L bass, and it is the best setup I've had on any of my basses, ever. The action is low, with no fret buzz unless I really dig in. The intonation is perfect. The people at the shop are friendly and really knowledgeable. It was a 40-minute drive for me to get to the shop, but I'm glad I made the trip.
Jo Ann C: Great serviceVery helpful staff.Thank you so much for all the great suggestions 11
Kate Bosolango: This fantastic store has all the instruments you need for whatever is your taste. I visit every time I am in the area.
James _: i went there and it was such a cool vibe
Abdul Hakeem Bennette: I dealt with these guys with a set up on a guitar that was tricky to get right, they did a great job and really know what they're doing. It cost less than I'd guessed as well. I'll definitely be back if need any more more work done.
Colin Klein: Fantastic locally owned music store with a wide selection of high quality instruments and friendly service.
Matthew Trigger: Everyone at this shop is fantastic. I bought my first guitar used off the internet and I took it in for them to look it over and they provided great services. They gave me excellent recommendations for gear that is appropriate for a new player such as myself. I have since been back for new strings and I am always impressed by the product selection and helpfulness of the staff. I'm happy to be supporting this great local small business.

Boston School of Music Arts: what do users think?
Paul Marquez: Professional instructors who make learning fun! We appreciate that the children have performances to work toward and that all of the staff are always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
Christopher D. Anderson: BSMA has been very patient with a beginning musician (who doesn't always handle criticism well!), I'm very impressed at how encouraging and inspiring the instruction has been. Now if I could just get my son to practice more . . .
Olumide Adebo: My son does violin lessons here and it's great to have that in the neighborhood.
Nneka Edwards-Burgess: As an adult learner, the atmosphere is not intimidating. My family and I enjoy learning together.
Soondarie Barker: Linda and Julie are the beautiful faces of BSMA. They are extremely efficient. They readily tackle any questions or scheduling conflicts. The instructors are knowledgeable and always friendly. They do a wonderful job of tailoring lessons to meet students where they are. Last, but not least, Sharon and Yuri are talented and passionate musicians. They have set the goal of filling hearts with the power of music and are committed to seeing that goal through to fruition for all who enter the doors of BSMA.
Tracey Worthen: Good music school close to my neighborhood. Great teachers and a good learning experience.
Ingrid: I do not have much to say than it is a fantastic school, well organized, where your child learns. I can see the progress. Great school! Music is like a balm for the soul!
Jane Wood: I learned how to play piano and do vocals here! I have been going here for 5 years and I have never had a bad experience! The owners are very cautious about Covid-19,which is a good thing! The teachers here really teach you what your limits really are and help you achieve your goals! Would really recommend for anything from ages 6+!
Eliane Shwairi: I started taking lessons and I like the place so far.
Kate Bosolango: I learned two of my main instruments at this school. They have wonderful professors and quality facilities.
Alyssa Whitworth: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Natalie Mitchell: wonderful atmosphere
Pierre Mentor: I enjoy the way they show me some lessons...then i do a lot of progress, when i practiced the guitar from them...🗼
Khu Duong: Friendly and knowledgeable staffs.
Alessandra Pollina: We’ve had a great experience so far with children’s piano lessons. The instructors are fantastic with kids, and the school has been easy to communicate with and be a part of.
Jeanel Humber: I love the classes. My daughter loves Ms. Sharon and has a great time in the class with her friends. She has learned about a lot of new instruments. It's very educational! "
george howard: Great place for young music learners
Avi Meyers: I feel lucky to have found Yury, Sharon and the Boston School of Music Arts. I began my journey at the age of 4 with classical violin lessons. These gradually turned into guitar lessons at the age of 15. I have always had a deep passion for music, but never quite felt fulfilled from it. When I began to write my own music, I realized this was the best way to focus my energies, and the next logical step was to find a voice coach. This led me to Yury, and we began a series of lessons. I soon realized I had stumbled upon more than a voice coach. Yury is my music mentor, he allows his students a chance to grow, and develop into artists in the most organic way possible. His knowledge of music, and skills on a plethora of instruments are unmatched. Couple this with the professional and warm-hearted nature of Sharon who runs the school, and I can't imagine why anyone would take lessons anywhere else. I felt compelled to write this review and encourage anyone with an interest or desire to play music to come down to the Boston School of Music Arts and get involved in this awesome community of musicians.

Back Bay Guitar Lessons: what do users think?
Anton Spaans: Buddy has been my guitar teacher for quite a few years now. I received a guitar and a coupon for lessons at Back Bay Guitar as a Xmas present at work about 5 years ago..... and still keep my lessons going with Buddy.Buddy's strength is that he is excellent at tailoring your lessons to your needs and likings. Are you just leaning to play guitar for a side hobby, maybe not practice *every* day, he'll teach you songs, only a little 'theory'. If you want to really learn to play well, the lessons will be tailored to that.Even with my shoddy practice regimen (I could practice more), I've been getting better and better and, above all, I'm enjoying it a LOT.Right now, lessons are online (because of covid), over Skype. I sometimes do miss the personal/on-site lessons, but doing them at home is convenient 😁
Andrew L.: I've been learning with Buddy for a few years...it's been a lot of fun and very educational. He's both a great musician and a great teacher. Profoundly knowledgeable about guitar and about music theory. He also has a very patient and playful teaching style and often enhances lessons with very funny or interesting stories from music history or his own career. Highly recommended!
Christopher Schiraldi: I started working with Buddy Jones in the beginning of 2020 somewhere at the start of the global pandemic. Because I started post pandemic my very first lesson with Buddy was via Skype. After 6+ months of working with Buddy every Friday I still cannot express how happy I am with my results/progression and most importantly the quality of his teaching.Buddy is an excellent musician and an even better teacher. He is also the real deal as he paved his way earlier in his career obtaining a four year degree at the one and only Berklee College of Music.lastly, think of it this way. I have never had an in-person lesson with Buddy due to the global pandemic and I am a 100% satisfied student and I feel all of my expectations have been surpassed.5 stars for Buddy Jones and any of you out there if you are on the fence about starting lessons, do not hesitate you will not be disappointed.
Tim Ehrlich: I have been working with Buddy for about one year and can honestly say that he is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. His knowledge of the guitar and how to make music is extraordinary and his range in musical styles is simply absurd--there is nothing I have ever wanted to play or any question I had which he couldn't answer for me in a very satisfying way. He is also extremely laid back and makes the lesson a truly enjoyable and fun experience. I have a very busy work and family schedule and in my life have never kept a single consistent weekly appointment--until I started working with Buddy and then I never miss a lesson. He is just that good.
elsa hansen: I've taken lessons with Buddy for about 6 years. When I started, I knew absolutely nothing about playing guitar. Now I can play and sing some of my favorite songs (he actually got me doing that fairly quickly). I think more importantly, having the opportunity to work with him has given me a much deeper appreciation of music. I now love songs that I would have never listened to before. My experience with music is much richer. I'm sad to be giving up my lessons with Buddy, but I know that because of the time I've spent working with him, I have the ability to continue to play and enjoy music for the rest of my life. He is also just a really nice fellow and a lot of fun to work with.
ann bruck: I began working with Buddy in 2013, through the recommendation of another one of his students. From early childhood, I had trouble with hearing the proper sounds of language and music. As an adult, I wanted to learn an instrument and thought guitar would be great because so much can be learned just by feel. This was one of the big draws for me to working with Buddy. He teaches each of his students to their strength; ear, feel or sight. By the student choosing the song list, it is almost guaranteed a fun and successful session every time.Buddy has a true passion for music both as a player and a teacher. I would hands down name him and only him as a recommended teacher for anyone looking to pick up the guitar whether you are a beginner or have years of experience.
Nathan Canterbury: Buddy is a great teacher! He helped me grow comfortable with the instrument and made a point of working with me on music I was interested in. Over the course of 8 months I feel that my playing ability has greatly increased. When I began I was only familiar with a few chords but after a few months we were tackling some challenging charts. I learned a lot of material and some basic music theory from our lessons, and enjoyed the process. I would highly recommend Buddy to anyone looking to further their musical knowledge and ability.
Mallory: I am extremely grateful I chose Buddy as my guitar teacher. He was professional, prepared, and always open-minded. He challenged me and encouraged me. His experience is inspiring.
Michael Fuccione: Buddy is an exceptional teacher. I have had many guitar teachers over the course of my life, and Buddy is by far the best I have ever had. He actually plays with you, you sit down together and play music. You don't sit there and watch him play or listen to lectures the whole time. Buddy has multiple ways of explaining concepts until you understand, he doesn't just have one way of teaching, he is very flexible and can explain things in way you will understand or will keep trying different approaches until you do understand. Above all that he is a great guy who loves music and loves teaching music to people. He is passionate about teaching and seeing his students improve. When I look back on my skill set when I started and compare it to now, I can honestly say I am a much better guitar player and my understanding of music, how songs are constructed and ability to play are worlds away from where I started - and I have Buddy to thank for that.
Jason Landry: I learned more about playing blues and jazz guitar in a year and half of weekly lessons with Buddy than I did in the prior 30 years trying to learn on my own. Buddy is patient, knowledgable, and was flexible even when my work schedule got in the way. I’m so glad he was able to teach this old dog new tricks and licks!
Jessica Bond: Not knowing a single thing about playing, I started guitar lessons with Buddy on a guitar that my daughter had abandoned. I choose him not even sure how to pick a guitar teacher, and he has proven a great one. Most important, probably, the lessons are shaped around what you want to learn and play ("If you love the song, you'll be much more likely to practice," is his philosophy) and he teaches you how to do it--chords, strum patterns, finger picking, etc. He's patient, warm, and generous, and he mixes well challenge and fun. If you're looking for a guitar teacher, I highly recommend Buddy.
Aaron Neimer: Buddy is great! Whatever you may want to learn or improve on, Buddy can make it happen. He's patient, professional, very welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. He has a genuine love of the instrument and his interest in making you a better player as well as musician. He has some pretty great stories too....
Dave Burke: If you're like me, someone who has always wanted to learn to play guitar but wasn't sure where to start, I strongly urge you to give Buddy a call and set up a lesson. I went from not being able to play a single chord to playing full songs in no time. Buddy made a point to teach me songs that I wanted to play and taught me the right techniques to not only play songs but play them the right way (like timing, strumming techniques, reading the music he'd write out for me, etc.) Once I was comfortable with the basics, Buddy helped me incorporate more advanced techniques and guitar solos. I honestly can't believe how far I've come.I just wish I had started lessons with Buddy sooner. I waited years while my guitar collected dust because I was frustrated trying to learn. Now that I'm playing the songs I want to play, I practice all the time.
Jp: I took lessons with Buddy for nearly four years, and it was a great experience.Buddy can play and teach any style of music: jazz (from bossa nova to gypsy jazz to bebop), rock, pop, flamenco, even metal. He has an encycopledic knowledge of the specific styles of any player. What I loved about him was that he let you determine how you wanted to learn. If you need exercises to learn a skill, say, soloing, he'll come up with some for you to practise. If what you need is practice playing a tune, you'll just play tunes together the whole lesson.Generally, I liked learning guitar by learning tunes; I wouldn't want to learn from a book or a method. I would come in with a tune I wanted to play, and Buddy would come up with an arrangement of it by ear no matter what style or instrument it was played on. From then we'd work through playing it together until I had it down. Then we would work on things like chord-melodies and soloing over the form.I went in with a basic knowledge of chords on the guitar. Within a month I knew the chord forms to accompany jazz. Soon after, I had grasped scales, modes, chord arpeggios. Buddy was helping me come up with my own chord melodies.I highly recommend him for players of any level: I started as a beginner, and improved a lot. Buddy had no trouble giving me more to work with as I got better.
John Jarvis: I took lessons with Buddy for a year and half and had a great experience. I had no guitar skill going in, and Buddy was incredibly patient in helping me better understand the instrument and become a better player. Buddy's also a great guy, and it was obvious that he cares about the development of his students as musicians.
Mark Ferrara: I began my guitar studies by teaching myself from the internet. While the information available to us from the web is phenomenal, it isn't enough, and I quickly hit a "wall." As a result, I embarked on what ended up being a very long quest to find the right guitar teacher to help me progress. At the end of that search was Buddy Jones. Buddy's relaxed manner, teaching style, and immense musical knowledge matched what I was looking for exactly. I have been taking lessons from Buddy for over two years now, and I have improved more in that time than I would have thought possible, certainly more than I would have done so on my own. Buddy's playing is amazing, his musical ability formidable, and his teaching his top notch. If you are like me and looking to push yourself to the next level of guitar playing, you can't go wrong with Buddy Jones.
Laura P: It was an absolute pleasure taking lessons with Buddy at Back Bay Guitar. When I decided I wanted to learn how to play, I didn’t even own a guitar. I found Buddy online and e-mailed him about lessons. He signed me up for Monday sessions and even helped me with advice on purchasing a good, beginner guitar. Buddy was professional, kind and beyond patient. To this day it amazes me how a guitarist of his caliber can take the time to teach someone how to strum their first chord and struggle through the basics.I continued with my lessons every Monday night for almost 4 years. Buddy taught me more chords that I can even count and helped me to understand the basics of music theory. The great thing about him is, you get to choose the way you want to learn. Buddy is very adaptable to multiple styles and encourages you to choose music that you enjoy. You can be as good as you want to be, you just have to put in the time and effort. The only reason I discontinued my lessons with Buddy is because I relocated to Chicago for work. Otherwise, I would be there every Monday torturing him with my relentless love for country music. After all of the time we spent together I not only consider Buddy an excellent teacher, but he is also a great friend.
Mike s: I played guitar while in high school and then didn't pick it up again until 24 years later, and i landed at buddy's, for my first lessons in many years. Over the past 2 years i have learned volumes, and had a blast doing it. He has a great low key style of teaching, and worked with me at the pace that i was comfortable working at. I feel incredibly lucky that my re-introduction to guitar playing was with buddy, it's been a rockin' experience. So if you're looking to learn from a great musician and learn in a great environment, look no further. email buddy today!cheers
Ryan Frisch: Buddy is an extremely talented musician and even more patient and respectful teacher. His grasp of music theory and styles is surpassed by none but what is even more impressive was his ability to adapt to my style of learning (and taste) to help me really understand the guitar. Whether you just want to learn new songs or you want to understand the theory behind it, Buddy is your guy. He will go into as much or as little detail as you want each week. I started with Buddy with only a few chords in my pocket and after 11 months I left with a framework in place that allow me to listen to a song and learn how to play it within minutes (without cheating and and looking up the chords online). It is something I could have only dreamed of 12 months ago and Buddy has helped make that a reality. Buddy is extremely passionate about music and very committed to helping anyone learn and share in his passion and I would recommend him for beginner and advanced students alike. HE IS THAT GOOD!
Keith Vandal: What do you look for in an instructor? Personally, I needed someone who was going to be patient with the fact that I had been teaching myself (probably the wrong way) for several years prior to seeking lessons. Buddy was my first experience with professional guitar help and I have to say I have been spoiled. He worked with me over the first couple of lessons to get a feel for my style and what sort of music I was trying to play. He then listed some concepts we were going to work on to improve my knowledge of the fretboard and how to use different systems to work out solos or particular charts. I've got to hand it to him, he is one of the most patient people I have ever met. After coming from a long day at the office; I would arrive stressed out and unfocused on playing. When this would happen, he would recognize my short temper and talk through a concept for a few moments which allowed me to "get into the zone" and think about guitar. I came to Buddy as a beginner looking to find my way onto the stage and play out with some friends of mine that gig regularly - being a performance musician as well as a teacher, Buddy was able to help me practice effectively and mentally prep myself for being in front of a crowd with my instrument. The only reason why I had to stop lessons was due to a move to another city, otherwise I'd still be there! I highly recommend Buddy for anyone in a position similar to mine looking to get to the next level with their guitar. He uses an organized method that is easy to understand, and is patient enough to work with you when something isn't clear - no matter how "dumb" you may think your confusion is.

Boston School of Guitar: what do users think?
Katrina Hampton: Jhon is a excellent teacher! He meets you were you are at, but at the same time, takes you up to the next level.
Toma O Ekanem (TOA): Thoroughly enjoyed my classes here! The curiculum was well written and fun to follow. Our teacher (Jay) was patient and clear in instructing and anwering questions. I left each week feeling accomplished and with clear goals of what to work on. Highly recommend :)
Lynn Gray: Boston School of Guitar is a great place. I had been wanting to learn to play the guitar for a long time before I finally signed up for group lessons. I'm so glad I did. The environment is so much fun, and it's great to have adult group classes after work - so convenient. Jay and all of his instructors are really friendly and knowledgeable. There seems to be an instructor for everyone - whether you want to play classical or rock out. I think this is the best place in Boston.
Anna Formstone: This is a great school. Jay is a brilliant teacher - lessons are relaxed but fun at the same time, and he has you playing along to songs within one lesson! He keeps everything very flexible and relaxed, which is helpful when trying to fit lessons into a busy schedule. I have been going to lessons here for almost four months, and plan to carry on doing so for the foreseeable future!
Mo Zhao: Boston School of Guitar is not to be trusted, to put it lightly. I rented a guitar from them and returned it over a year ago and my credit card is still being charged for the rental. I have sent numerous emails and calls and precisely NONE of them were answered. They demonstrate exactly how NOT to do business and I hope no one else ever have to go through this frustrating process. Do not go to them, It's not worth your time and money.

Mike's Monster Guitar: what do users think?
Dan Peluso: Mike is the man! Go here mostly for repairs over purchases, but they do have drumsticks and some guitar accessories if you need em. As far as repairs go though you can tell your instruments are handled with care.

Audrey Day-Williams: Fantastic service!
M.J. C.: It's ok. Some middling vintage off brands. Not much of a selection but would do in a pinch. Owner polite but not friendly or welcoming. Ambience of a comic book shop or a thrift store. Fine for strings or pedals if you are in a pinch. I was very disappointed.
