Writing Classes In Boston MA With Nadia Colburn | Professional Writing Coach: what do users think?
Rachel Curtis: I'm in my second year of classes with Nadia and I recommend her highly. Nadia masterfully weaves together attention to mindfulness, voice and craft in her writing groups - a combination that is rare in a writing teacher and speaks to me deeply. Her focus is on helping writers (that's any of us who want to write and manage to do it regularly) find the stories that lie deep in them, knowing that the best writing comes from the depths. Nadia combines her deep expertise as a writer and a student of writing and literature with her own yoga and meditation practice, and her commitment to authenticity of voice. She creates a safe space, teaches craft lessons through looking at the work of various authors, and provides constructive critique that supports continuous improvement. And she seems to draw a really great group of folks who have become a supportive community of friends in writing.
Jake Swanson: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueNadia's writing courses are truly wonderful. I write professionally in an academic setting, but through working with her and others in the course I've been able to start finding an entirely new, creative voice. It was a huge encouragement and inspiration to me. I look forward to another class with her soon!
Brooke Bailey: I took Nadia's writing class over zoom during Pandemic Autumn. I soon began to look forward to the class as the best part of my week. Nadia has a gentle and positive energy, and at the same time the class was challenging (in the best way), the class discussions were rigorous and inspiring, and the insights I got into my writing- what works, what I could work on, how to develop my own practice and voice- were kinda mindblowing. Many writing classes I have taken seem to work from the outside in- read a text, discuss, prompt inspired by the text, write, workshop. This class works from the inside out- a short meditation, a prompt but not necessarily from a text, process-oriented. I'm able to self-direct my writing much better after this class and have a lot more confidence. If she offers a class in spring I will be there!
Michael Almond: Nadia nurtures diverse groups of writers and helps them develop their unique voices.
Holly Crary: safe, supportive and inspiring environment for writing.
Martina W: Working with Nadia and her heart-centered approach to writing has been good for my mind, body, heart and soul - truly! What more could a person ask?If you wish to transform your writing life for the better; if you wish to bring more positivity and light into your creativity and to your life, then give yourself the gift of some writing classes or writing sessions with Nadia.Thank youMartina :) xo
Colleen Reilly: I continue to enroll in Nadia's classes because of the nourishment I experience in both craft and camaraderie. Nadia is attuned to her students in an effective, wise & deeply encouraging way. The class prompts and discussions are hearty and illuminating. Additionally, Nadia fosters a supportive and inspiring energy amongst classmates. I recommend this class highly to anyone who wants to delve deeper into their writing, their cause, their community.
Janet Bednarz: I am a skilled business writer, but when I retired two years ago I decided to explore writing creative non-fiction and poetry. I floundered for a year trying out various local writing and poetry groups, none of which met my needs. A year ago I came across Nadia's website and registered for her online class "Align Your Story." The weekly lessons, readings, writing prompts and one-hour group conference calls lead by Nadia, along with the private Facebook page for class participants, provided the content, structure and support I had been looking for. I began to find my voice. I started to realize I have a story to tell that might interest and help others. I benefitted so much from this course that I decided to join Nadia's in-person, small group creative writing class which she holds in her home in Cambridge, MA. This experience has been transformative for me. I'm writing with more confidence and clarity. Our group has formed a close bond and created a safe space for us to be more vulnerable and courageous in our writing. I highly recommend Nadia as a writing instructor/coach - any classes, workshops, etc. are sure to be exceptional.
Allison S: I signed up for Nadia’s Creative Non-Fiction/Memoir class that ran for 8 sessions beginning April 2019. I was attracted to Nadia’s inclusion of mindfulness and yogic philosophy as well as her comfort level with addressing healing and trauma through the written word. What I valued most about her class was the safe community she creates to share writings, learning from other class participants through their writing, and obtaining positive and constructive feedback on each piece of shared work. While I feel I have a long way to go in my own written journey, this class has given me the push to trust in myself and the process, and to want to keep writing. And, I feel so fortunate to sit in the same room with so many talented, interesting women and bear witness to their vulnerabilities and expose my own. I am so grateful to have found this class and learn from Nadia’s expertise.
Elaine Bennett: Nadia Colburn guides her writers with compassion and empathy. She's not one of those teachers who puffs up their own ego by smashing yours. Through Nadia and the other writers in the class, you'll discover what works in your writing—and how to do more of it—and what doesn't quite accomplish your goals (and how to do less of that). In addition to reading and critiquing each others' writing, we read and examine published works to see what choices those writers have made. Great teaching in a warm and caring environment.
Rachael Petersen: During a major life transition, I stumbled across a poster for Nadia's in-person class at a cafe. I'd lost my way and my voice, but was drawn to her combination of mindfulness, creativity, and trauma work. With her skillful instruction - and the support of the class - I found the words to speak my truth with authority, skill, and purpose. The structure perfectly blends creative writing exercises, discussion of craft and process, and constructive feedback. Nadia's class helped me tap into a long-stifled creative source and take a bold step towards self-authorship. Her classes gave me more than a stack of essays and poems of which I'm proud; I've found healing, progress, and an amazing community of people -- including Nadia!
Cameron Marzelli: My work with Nadia was personally and professionally transformative. I deepened my understanding of the psychological and spiritual benefit of attending to detail, and of recognizing significance in the ordinary. Nadia taught me to be still, to befriend silence, to tolerate uncertainty/ambiguity so as to penetrate "what happened", in order to recognize what I was meant to learn from my situation and experience. She encouraged and supported patience as a necessary skill when the intention is to dispel illusion and come to know what needs to be known in order to embrace growth and productive change.

Boston International Academy: what do users think?
Jeziel Campos: When I looked for a reliable school that actually taught English, more than one person recommended the BIA to me...And I didn't regret choosing the BIA, in fact, today I recommend the BIA to everyone who wants to be good and committed students.I consider the BIA an excellent option for ESL in Massachusetts-USA.Don't throw money away with agents who promise to facilitate your entry here at BIA… You can connect directly with the school and say that I (@Jeziel.Campos) recommended them.If you want to know more about my experience with BIA, you can send me a DM by Instagram and I'll be happy to share it with you!
Sebastián Sölter: It WAS an excellent option, but they had changed everything, location with no parking, no teachers in the room on presential classes just online, and they made me pay an entire month to release the SEVIS code transfer of my wife to another institute, an immoral extortion.
Jean Claudio: I arrived in US speaking no English and today I'm fluent. I studied at Bia for almost 3 years, definitely the best choice I made. Qualified teachers and great attentive staff. Best school in the boston area. I really recommend it!
Danny Singh: I am a proud online substitute teacher at Boston International Academy. BIA is amazing! I love teaching because I love learning about different cultures. All the teachers and administrators care about the students. We work together to make sure students are receiving the highest quality education possible while teaching in a way that satisfies students with different learning needs. Students: Please do not feel nervous to speak English. I promise you will quickly learn English while making friends and laughing a lot in class. 🙂 😃 I hope to see you in class soon. Please take care.
Trippy Meng: In my brief review, the staff and their Service are the best among other schools in Language training.BIA Teachers are very experienced and professional, they have an extended knowledge of how international students learn English Language and their needs as first timers of the Country, well majority of us are at least.Lastly the other half to why this is the Best school all around Boston area is because of their most competitive tuition for programs and generous forgiveness programs in situations concerning the students. Most often times BIA will always do what is right for them and what is best option for me as an international student who is constantly being pressured to maintain in a good academic standing, but while I was at BIA, I was guided with patience and other various support that without the assistance from this school, it would have been very hard and tough couple of years. Cheers to BIA community, thank you all for your hard work everyday.
Aldahir D Sage: Positive:Communication,Professionalismi have always had a pleasant experience talking to BIA staff. student Advisor Elvin is so helpful with any questions with my visa status. i always feel comfortable eith bia and my english is improving becuase i feel comfortable communicating with BIA!!

CJ Productions: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueIf you're thinking about going ANYWHERE else to learn English in the Boston area. Put them aside. I totally recommend BIA for their amazing instructors and attentive classes. There is no one else I recommend in the area!
Lien Ton: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueVery very good people. If anyone is trying to learn English I totally recommend them. The mentors are nice and very thoughtful in their lessons and the community here is amazing.
Jimmy ton: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat school! very nice teachers and all around a good experience! The teachers are thoughtful and make sure you understand the lesson 10/10 recommendation.
Quang Nguyen: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueBIA is a great place to learn English. I took 6 sessions and my English is very proficient. The teachers and staff are very friendly and were able to help me out in anyway possible. To anyone reading this I highly recommend going here.
Jessie Zeng: Before Boston International Academy, I was really self conscious about speaking and writing English. After attending BIA, I feel more comfortable and confident. The staff here is very supporting. My questions never went unanswered and help was always there. Because of the small class size, the staff were able to focus more on each student, helping them improve on their specific weaknesses in English. I have also made some strong friendships with my classmates over the struggle of learning English. The environment here at BIA is friendly and encouraging. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to learn.
Piano Tiles: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,ValueComing into America, I feared that my daughter will not be able to adapt to the English language. However, I heard good reviews from my friends of this school so I sent her here. Her teacher told me that her English has improved significantly in a short amount of time. Good job.
Bonnie Kuang: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueBoston International Academy gave me a great place to learn English. After coming from China I was worried on how my English would be. But, after taking the courses, I am very confident in my English now.
Suiyenah Chen: BIA is an amazing school as all aspects of it exceeded my expectations. I was very nervous about my English skills as they were very limited, but my learning process was well supported by my teachers and peers. There was no judgement towards me and through this school, my English has improved immensely. I would definitely recommend people to come to this school to learn and be surrounded by great people.
Matthew Shao: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueCould not have asked for a better place to learn. With a small class size teachers were able help me and everyone around me succeed. Everyone was happy with the results and I feel more confident than ever speaking and writing. I recommend this place to anyone looking to learn in a non-judgmental environment.
