Mario Hearing & Tinnitus Clinics: what do users think?
Paul and Susan Pintus: I told Dr. Mario frankly that I already had hearing aids purchased at a competitor's clinic, but was exploring alternatives. He examined me thoroughly and loaned me a test pair manufactured by a different company. He ultimately advised me that I should not expect to find another set that would show a significant improvement over what I already had. In other words -- no high pressure sales talk to buy the alternative. Very honest.
Bob Wang: I have visited the Mario Hearing & Tinnitus Clinics for a year. It provided excellent service and I am 100% satisfied with them.
James Luckett: Nice guy. Very skilled and ethical
Burton Synnott: Dana has been helpful and thorough in my interactions (visits) with him.
David Buck: Provided very good service, assessed my needs accurately, listened well and did a great job of instructing me in the use of the hearing aids. Also made an excellent choice of product.
Russ Zimmerman: Having had a negative experience with another hearing aid provider, I was delighted to have Ziphearing refer me to Dr. Dana Mario, an audiologist and hearing aid provider in Cambridge, MA. He provided, fitted and is fine-tuning my new Phonak hearing aids. I was peased with the way he answered all my questions and am very pleased with my ability to access the hearing aids and make adjustments to them from my smart phone.
Jennie Peterson: Dr. Mario is extremely thorough and efficient. He explained all results to me and helped me get the best possible hearing aids at the best price. It is easy to schedule w/ this office and they are extremely responsive and helpful in gathering documents and information needed for insurance purposes. Excellent clinic, highly recommend. As context, I’ve been using hearing aids for over 5 years now. This is the second clinic I’ve worked with and by far the best.
Carlton Smith: I am extremely pleased with my experience of having contacted Dr. Mario for my hearing aid and with the purchase of my 2 new Resound hearing aids. I recommend everyone to stop in to see Dr. Mario.
Rudolph Meyer: Dr.Mario was very helpful in adjusting my hearing aid.
Hillel Stavis: Beware of this outfit. They collect a hefty commission from top price hearing aid distributors. If you try to get a copy of your audiology exam they'll tack on a $50 fee. Save thousands and go to Costco who doesn't charge for the exam or fitting. Dr. Mario was professionaland very thorough but still beware of high prices and dubious practices if you choose to purchase a device elsewhere.
Christine Galatis: Dr. Mario was professional and friendly. The hearing test went smoothly and results were given at the end of the test. The Cambridge office is wheelchair accessible. I highly recommend this audiologist.
Dmitri Levitin: The worst family practice. Don't go here, will rip you off. Treated my grand father horribly, maybe all old people. Not only does he rip you off, but then he argues against all online negative reviews. Pathetic
Mark Godes: There are a number of issues of great concern with Mario Hearing that should be of note to all prospective clients. For starters, when you call to make an appointment, taking time to go into great detail as to why you are seeking help, as I did regarding my mother's severe case of tinnitus, they don't tell you that, beyond the $100 consultation fee, the overall remuneration expectation is between $6,000 to $8,000, which I would assume for most folks is cost prohibitive. No, you only learn this in passing--it's almost conveyed as an after-thought--at the very end of the consult. (Which is ironic in that the Mario Hearing brochure highlights the importance of good communication.) Further, to the extent you are quoted this exorbitant fee, there is absolutely no cost breakdown or even a brief explanation as to how this fee range is derived. There is also no mention of any sort of money back guarantee in the event the high-end hearing aid they wish to ultimately sell you does not alleviate your symptoms. (In fact, in Massachusetts a consumer has the right to return an unsatisfactory hearing aid within 60 days of purchasing it.) In terms of the Cambridge office itself, Mario Hearing rents a very small office (a room, essentially) in the back of the Parrelli Opticians store, and they are not listed on the building's lobby directory which, at a minimum, is off-putting. (Additionally, for a medical entity, Mario Hearing has no discernible email or voicemail options.) Last, when you have legitimate concerns such as the ones I've referenced in this review and you try to convey them to Mario Hearing following your initial consultation, they refuse to take your calls in a good faith manner (even though they readily take your $100 consultation fee). Part of the problem in this regard is that Mario Hearing is a family run business so if you have any issues arise where a client is unhappy there is no corporate hierarchy, a district or regional management office, for example, to reach out to for assistance. Accordingly, the only recourse one is left with at this point is to contact the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Speech-Pathology and Audiology for redress of these concerns in terms of your treatment as a potential new client of Mario Hearing.
Joe Collins: I have been a patient of Dr Dana Mario's for several months. He administered a hearing test that was comprehensive and detailed. I have had similar tests in medical settings that were not as comprehensive. He fitted for me hearing aids that have been terrific and reasonably priced. I have found Dr Mario to be professional, well informed and extremely helpful. He is a real talent!

The Hearing Aid Center at Steward St. Elizabeth's Medical Center: what do users think?
CG: My ordeal with this hospital's Newborn Hearing Screening program has been a nightmare! My daughter was born in January & I am still dealing with this mess 6 mo. later. First, they skipped my daughter's hearing screening when she was born (something that is done for ALL newborns). The next step was to go to a location in Brockton, MA where they sent an audiologist from this place to screen my baby and this was a nightmare. I was there with a baby and a toddler for 4 hours! I was told not to let the baby eat and sleep until I got there and that didn't work out so great. My baby was wide awake and hungry when I got there and was so overstimulated from being kept awake that she wouldn't go to sleep (and this audiologist doesn't do great testing if baby is awake, which by the way is possible if they had better equipment, not ancient stuff). Come to find out their faulty equipment said my baby failed the hearing test on one ear so we had to take time off work to bring her to this location in Brighton (an hour away from our home)! This entire time we are being told there is no charge for this screening because it is part of newborn hospital tests routinely done and it was not our fault the screener missed our baby. More than 2 months after my baby was seen at this center we get a hefty $275 bill (this clinic is trying to double dip if you ask me, charging again for their mistake)! Took 15 minutes & two reps in their billing department so I can talk to a human. Come to find out these billing reps are clueless. They couldn't give me a national provider ID for the provider that did my daughter's screening so I can request a referral because we are not responsible for their irresponsibility & shouldn't have to pay out of pocket. From getting a suitable appointment for us to get to Brighton to this whole billing issue everything has been a nightmare! First, the person who booked our appointment (who I spoke to at least 4 or 5 times) never gave us a NPI and failed to inform us that we should've obtained a referral. The many times I talked to her it would've been nice for her to tell us that since we have a HMO we will need a referral (but who new this people where billing AGAIN for a test they are responsible for). Staff and providers have some nerve telling patients this is part of a baby's newborn screening and then try to bill my insurance again for something they let slip through the cracks and is totally their fault. I have worked in medical administration (including referrals, billing, scheduling, insurance verification, etc) since 2009 and I make sure I send post cards & make phone calls to patients with info on how to obtain a referral & when I book an appointment with a patient who has a HMO. I give them our NPI, fax, and all the info they need to make sure they are not responsible for the office visit. This place clearly needs to train receptionists, billing staff, coordinators, schedulers, etc on how to properly schedule appointments for patients who need authorizations/referrals. What upsets me the most is that I didn't even get a phone call to be advised that they were billing again for my baby's hearing screening and that I would need a referral. Neither did they call me to tell me the claim was rejected because I didn't have a referral. I make every attempt to contact my patients when a claim is rejected to help them with getting their bill paid by insurance (that's what insurance is for). After all this (which still continues) nothing was wrong with my daughter's hearing, she passed just fine with better equipment sued the 2nd time (according to the 4 hour ordeal the 1st time around "results" stated she didn't pass on one ear, unbelievable). Oh and let's not forget trying to talk to human to get this sorted, get a NPI, etc. I called at least 5 phone numbers. I ended up calling an 800 # for their physician finder line and that was the only human I spoke to out of the 5 phone numbers I called that could give me a NPI. NEVER want to deal with this place again!

Audiology Services Inc: what do users think?
Joanna Loveluck: I contacted this group because my hearing aids were not functioning, and the original provider was ghosting me. I was very quickly able to get an appointment. They were prompt and professional. They explained that I had ordered the wrong parts, gave me the correct parts, update the firmware, fixed up the tinitus settings, and I was quickly on my way. It was also very conveniently located for me, on the Belmont/Cambridge line, with nearby parking. I plan to go back.
Bill Greenberg: Dr. Gnye is terrific.
Mary Alice Van Sickle: I have been extremely pleased with the care I’ve received at Audiology Services, Inc. Dr. Raposo-Sacks has the patience of Job! She spent a great deal of time with me, explaining the components and function of my new hearing aids, and especially showing me how to insert them correctly into my ear canals. She is thorough, articulate, and compassionate. The practice is efficiently run and hygenically clean. I would recommend ASI to anyone considering getting hearing aids.
Derya Honca: They are competent, friendly, patient and good at training the client new to the use of hearing assistance devices. They are usually on time with their appointments.
Debbie Lewis: Dr. Raposo has been great. Very knowledgable, very patient.

Katie Carlone: I knew the day would come when I would need to turn to hearing aids, yet I had heard so much complaining about them over the years. My own experience at Audiology Services and their dedication to my needs was a thrilling surprise! I am so grateful for their expertise and for their determination to "get it right" for me. I can easily, highly recommend Audiology Services to those facing decisions about their hearing loss; for me, this was life-changing
Steven Samuel: The professionals and staff have provided excellent advice and service to me for about four years. All are unfailingly attentive and sympathetic, anticipating and timely in addressing needs. No need to look elsewhere for audiology care.
William Overholt: Jill Rosenberg and her company have been prompt, warm, flexible and efficient--everything most providers are not. They're wonderful.
mike mccahill: Service was clear, professional and more than helpful

Michael altman: Great people at every level: responsive, pleasant, professional. I worked with Ella Raposo-Sacks. The newest hearing aids are very complicated. But. she is a whiz with technology and devoted all the time needed to get all settings at the best level and to help me get comfortable with the new technology.
Carol Carpenter: Excellent practice. Couldn't be happier with doctor and front desk staff.
Ann Rabinovitz: Dr. Rosenberg took great care with my 93 year old Aunt. She was able to look at the hearing aids she has and get reprogram them. She is hearing well for the first time in years!! I also loved that her office was easy to get to from the parking lot!
Jeff Rand: Very professional. Has the latest audiology products. I have been very happy with them especially Dr Nye.
W: Highly knowledgeable and always available---Fabianne is terrific with all administrative matters and Dr.Nye is the best at evaluating one's situation and needs and communicating and implimenting treatment options.
David Grotrian: Dr. Rosenberg is very clear in her evaluations, explanations of options, and answers to my questions.
Leon Golub: Excellent service, friendly and competent staff.
Ray Walsh: Dr. Nye always patiently explains the technical details of the too many questions it is my habit to ask. I feel well cared for and respected.
David Ellwood: I have worked with Audiology Services for multiple years. I work primarily with Dr. Nye and find him highly skilled and knowledgeable. He is clear about options and the pros and cons of each. I have also had occasions to meet with the other audiologists and staff and all are very helpful and professional. I recommend them without reservation.
panit satyasai: I'm happy with Dr. Nye's service. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He always takes the time to care for my hearing aids and answer my questions. His staff is friendly and accommodating.
