Colibri Travel & Tours: what do users think?
Julie Mason: My trip to Cuba with Colibrí was hands-down the most informative trip I have ever taken- and I travel frequently. Sylvia is expert in all things Cuba! Our accommodations were lovely, and the food was incredible. I give Colibri tours, my highest recommendation. Fabulous!
Loredana Brugnaro: I just returned from the most amazing and informative trip of Cuba with a lifetime of memories and adventures. The country is a treasure of rare natural beauty, national historical treasures and vibrant life from the seas to the mountains. Colibri organized a breathtaking tour of daily excitement and fabulous food without any worries . Something for everyone. I can’t wait to go back!
Kathleen Norton: Wow and more wow!! Sylvia and her Cuba team, especially Glenda and Wilfredo, did such an outstanding job of making this a wonderful trip! They felt like family members, I miss them all so much already! We stayed in lovely casa’s, ate at restaurants that truly gave you a “Cuban” experience, received lots of insight on Cuba’s history, stunning architecture, people, art and music. Although the tour is “structured” lots of flexibility was demonstrated by the team to meet every travelers request. They even set up a night at the famed, Tropicana, where we had the best seats in the house, along with an impromptu mojito class for the entire group at the casa! There is no other way I would travel to Cuba except with Sylvia and her team. You guys rock, thank you so much!
Rick Brandon: I had a thoroughly exciting, diverse, bonding Cuba trip through Colibri Tours. Our journey was full of awe-inspiring cultural, musical, artistic, and community oriented activities punctuated with super fun concerts at the Havana Jazz Festival. I give Colibri Tpurs my top 1% recommendation after going on trips around the world, since as the company's owner, Sylvia, who personally led our tour, says, she prides herself on providing a high quality, peak experience at the least expensive prices compared to other Cuban tours. Colibri conducts the over 50 such trips annually around the world, so she's got this tour biz down pat, as evidenced by her company's thorough upfront organization, clear instructions for registration, visa protocol, port of entry forms, packing properly, how much money to bring, etc. followed by fantastically competent, cordial, and caring trip guides. Our welcome was warm and wonderful from the moment we walked outside the airport, the accommodations were good, and the 9-day itinerary was full, fun, varied, and flexible. Colibri staff assistants Glinda and Wilfred were always ready, willing, and able to facilitate and escort anyone to an alternative side visit/destination from the group if someone got sick, or really wished to bypass an afternoon activity to instead do a special shorter site or take care of personal business like when a visitor lost his phone back at the airport. Sure enough, he was hand-held to go find it and was thrilled and the kindness of our leaders and the Cuban people. The staff set the friendly, fun-loving, and caring tone, so our group of 20 became a true family. We were pampered with information, diverse experiences from museums, events, welcome receptions, and private concerts by reknown musicians like worldclass flamenco guitarist Juanito Pasqual and jazz pianist Ernan Lopex Nussa who befriended us. We were led into conversations with a famous artist, visited classic "must-see" tour destinations like Fusterland, as well as ventured to off-the-beaten-path unique targets such as visiting a school to be with the kids, laugh and play music with them, etc. A highlight among many was riding in the fleet of 1950's beautiful classic cars through Havana and dining at the famous restaurant where Obama and others lounged, where the famous chef giving us complimentary rum shots and cigars. Sylvia knows so many people and so many spots to turn us onto. I so enjoyed seeing Sylvia, Glinda, and Wilfred deriving pure joy from helping us love the immersion experience. You will derive joy as well! Call Sylvia to ask as many questions as you want, send as many emails as you need to feel comfortable and clear. She loves talking about her trips, educating you, and assisting you in every way she can, so that you NEVER feel you're imposing. Go for it! Hasta luego! Rick Brandon, Ph.D and hedonist.
Dan klooster: Sylvia designed and led an amazing Cuba trip. Her Cuban team was extremely professional and motivated and together they were excellent facilitators and navigators of a difficult (but rewarding!) travel environment. She was also very good at fine-tuning our trip in accordance with our varied interests. Highly recommended!
Robert Brandon: We were blown away by Colibri’s knowledge of Cuba and the ability to gauge what experiences the group would most enjoy. With a large group (20+), Sylvia was incredibly adept and flexible and able to adjust quickly to changing logistics and the varying preferences of group members. The three Colibri guides were ALL remarkably personable and it was a joy getting to know them. There were real tight bonds formed between my wife and I and the other group members, as well as with the Colibri staff. Accommodations were very comfortable and the restaurants selected were excellent. There was a nice mix of scheduled group activities together with personal free time to explore, shop and relax, including two trips to beautiful beaches. I was impressed by how affordable the trip was—a great value. I highly recommend a trip with Colibri— they are professional, were diligent about communicating details before the trip and were just a joy to interact with in every way.
Martha Benesh: Yes, Cuba is open to Americans. But personally I would not go it alone. Having traveled in many place with odd adventures, this was a trip where I wanted to be led. Someone else planned and executed, it was a great decision.Sylvia and her merry gang of guides got us tickets to concerts, roof top jazz clubs, artist venues…in small towns… and beaches. (Thrown in museums salsa dancing). It was endless. My personal feeling is, run to get a tour. Cuba is changing, quickly. It is a place, while being rehabbed, still remains in the past. It is thought provoking and beautiful. It won’t last long as the country opens up.We are going back next winter.
Susan Hirsch: I have never been a group tour person, but Colbri Travel & Tours converted me. Sylvia and her amazing assistants Glenda and Wilfredo, created an incredibly enriching, joyful Cuban experience. Sylvia's deep understanding of, and passion for, the Cuban history and people, enabled us to connect and care with our experiences in a way that would've been otherwise impossible. She is an organizational genius and deftly pivoted to avoid the inevitable travel pitfalls. She choose locally owned gorgeous Casa's for our stay and locally owned restaurants. This ensured our comfort while enabling us to get a feel for the Cuban experience, all while putting our American dollars to work helping the Cuban people. Traveling with Colibri Travel & Tours was an experience of a lifetime, and I would follow Sylvia anywhere on the globe. Thank you Sylvia for creating this amazing experience.
Josh Newman: The Cuban Jazz festival, now, and it’s 38th year, is a must do bucket list trip with Colibri tours. Don’t walk but run to book a spot as soon as you can. Normally we don’t do package tours. But Cuba is a tough place to travel in and Silvia knows Cuba like the back of her hand. We stayed in wonderful Casas, went to excellent restaurants, saw the sights, went to beautiful beaches, toured art galaxies, hiked in the mountains, and most importantly had the inside track on fantastic music. This included private performances that were arranged just for us, fabulous seats at the regular events, and late night Jazz clubs where top performers were Jamming after hours. It was a trip of a lifetime. Thank you, Silvia, and Colibri!
Frank Benesh: My wife Martha and I were on the late January Cuba tour. ALL THE EXEMPLARY 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE TRUE. This company, Sylvia and her team are that good, even better than the reviews suggest!!. This was a tour that included the Havana Jazz Festival, and Sylvia had to navigate last minute changes to concert schedules and knock on effects over and above what might happen on a typical tour. They were handled professionally and with aplomb. This company knows Cuba! I expect to repeat this tour. If you are considering Cuba - BY ALL MEANS GO. And if you do go to Cuba, you must use Colibri.
Kate Josephs: Our trip to Cuba exceeded all expectations - every detail thought through, the kindest and most thoughtful guides, the best music, beautiful countryside, reasonable prices. All done with style, responsibility, and a sense of humor. Colibri takes care of you! You cannot do better than this travel company!
Michael Herz: This was a first visit to Cuba, organized around the Habana Jazz Festival with a group of 20+ people, most of whom were friends of an accompanying professional flamenco guitarist. It was a fantastic experience! The festival music as well as that made by various members of our group, was joyous, memorable & continuous. But the wonderful interactions with the many, many open & giving Cuban people - "the Cuban Experience" - was the 5-star, take-home memory many of us will cherish until our next trip back! The Colibri tour was fun, educational & professionally executed. Pleasing a group of 20+, musically- & travel-sophisticated 1st-time vistors to Cuba was a challenge that was met every step of the way - fabulous logistics in arranging visits to multiple, difficult music venues that were subject to changing schedules, limited access to meals. In addition, Colibri's successes in working around Cuba's apparently continuously challenging infrastructure, offered evidence of their great experience & creativity. We'll definitely repeat a Cuban trip with Colibri!
Jim Colburn: One of my top 5 trips all time! Sylvia and her team was a key factor in our most excellent experience in Cuba. We got to see many different styles of Cuban music, ate in excellent restaurants but best of all Sylvia was able to integrate us into the local population and culture. My recommendation: By all means visit Cuba but make sure you go with Colibri!
Elzbieta Duma: I recently traveled to Peru with Colibri Travel & Tours. I haven’t used a travel agency before and was a bit anxious, mostly because I hadn’t used this type of service, but also because I am a picky traveler and like to avoid typical big tourist groups. Sylvia, the agency owner walked me through each step of the trip to make sure that I was able to complete everything that wanted to do on this trip. I felt like she really listened and created a trip that was perfect. All of the arrangements made were flawless. Hotels, restaurants, tours, transportation all impressed.Sylvia and the tour guides were knowledgeable, fun, kind--all of the things that made this trip comfortable, safe and delightful. A big shout out to our best tour guide Alex A., who took us through the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and through Rainbow Mountain. He was a wealth of knowledge and was able to make the history come alive.I will definitely be traveling with Sylvia & Colibri Travel Tours again.
Ketan Mehta: We had a wonderful experience visiting Cuba with Colibri Travel and Tours. I especially loved the opportunity to meet so many wonderful Cubans, stay in beautiful and interesting places, and enjoy ten great days filled with music and dancing.Cuba is not an easy country to travel to, and people from Colibri make it look not only effortless but also incredibly fun. They quickly answer questions before the trip and send the Cuban visas to your home address. They are well connected to artists, musicians, chefs, and local Cuban people. From famous Kcho (his work is in MOMA), Ares (created the poster for Obama's visit to Cuba), musicians from bands like Los Van Van to chefs at San Cristobal restaurant (where Obama dined in Havana). Our days were filled with great activities: riding through Havana in a vintage convertible, hiking and swimming in waterfalls in Trinidad, singing with Cuban bands, rolling cigars on a tobacco farm in Vinales. Our first few nights in Havana, we stayed in one of the most beautiful villas in the country, with the famous mural 'Three Monkeys' by Cabrera. We visited musicians in their homes and joined evening jam session sing alongs. Our host Wilfredo - who I affectionately called Freddie - was also one of our guides. He is as happy, kind, and upbeat a person as you can meet. And all of this at a great price, less than 1/3 the cost of other tour providers we considered. Now, when you found this company, all you need to do is immediately sign up for one of their tours! You will love every minute of the experience.
Nihar Dharamsey: Had a great trip thanks to Colibri! Will definitely be going back.
Don Manning: Well thought out and planned trip. Tailored effectively to the group. Knowledgable and terrific staff. If you are considering a trip to Cuba, your first call should be to Colibri Travel and Tours.
Hartley Hall: Our experience in Cuba in February 2022 with Sylvia and her team from Colibri Travel was just remarkable! A carefully curated blend of history, art, music, food, beaches and FUN was just without parallel. We are already planning a return trip for the Fall of 2022 with friends. The Colibri Team is so knowledgeable on all matters from the practical to the cultural that they make the trip not only effortless, but engaging and educational from the traveler's perspective. In addition to going back to Cuba with Colibri, I've discussed with them their trip to Vietnam, which has long been on my bucket list as well!
Yuliya Rotar: A HUGE thank you to Colibri Travel & Tours for organizing our amazing trip to Cuba! Sylvia Rozwadowska-Sha and her team took care of all the arrangements for us (accommodations, visas, transportation, sightseeing, meals) and everything went flawlessly and as planned. Sylvia and Jorge are also excellent and knowledgeable guides who helped us learn a lot about Cuban history, culture and its amazing people. It was a stellar and very memorable vacation experience and I highly recommend working with Sylvia and Colibri Travel & Tours!
Julia: I’ve been working in the travel industry for over 30 years and have worked with many travel professionals around the world. Sylvia Rozwadowska-Sha at Colibri Travel ranks at the top of the list of travel professionals! I just returned from an amazing trip to Cuba organized by Sylvia, and it was an absolutely fantastic trip. Sylvia was such a joy to work with thought of every detail imaginable. She did a fantastic job of planning and executing our trip. Sylvia struck the perfect balance of planning out every detail, being creative and remaining flexible which is always important in Cuba. Cuba is a fascinating place, and I learned so much about it. Sylvia and Jorge were amazing guides. They are both super smart, kind and friendly. Our group left Cuba with a greater understanding of the country, its people and new friendships with Sylvia and Jorge. I highly recommend working with Sylvia.
Gail Stubbs: Traveling to Peru with Colibri Boston was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. Sylvia is hands down the best tour organizer and guide imaginable, and she takes care of every detail while making it all seem easy and fun. We enjoyed a tour of Lima with lunch at one of the best restaurants in the world, and a cooking class; went on to Cusco, which is a beautiful city with great architecture and shopping; hiked in the Sacred Valley, and then on to the incredible Machu Picchu by train. Throughout the trip we stayed in wonderful boutique hotels, ate great food, and learned so much about the country and local culture. Sylvia is smart, generous, and caring, does her research, and always incorporates history and culture into her tours. Peru was my second trip with Colibri and I can't wait to go on a third - I wouldn’t go on an organized tour if Sylvia wasn’t the one leading it, and feel very grateful for the experiences I’ve had with her!
