Empire Beauty School: what do users think?
HisTravelStories: Customer service is bad, previously I was able to book appointments on call and then get there by that time. When I called today, they said that’s stopped now and I can do walk-in till 7pm.I travel all the way after work and then they say they can’t do anything today and asked me to come again tomorrow and check. They could have just told me the same thing on phone, instead of asking me to come and check, or when I reach in person they could have booked a fixed slot for tomorrow. It just felt weird and bad.
keonda fisher: Charlene braided my sons hair, and she did such a great job. She also had patience and great customer service skills. Would recommend a thousand times.
Nunu little: Very Please with the service i love my hair service was very professional a happy and satisfied client also so proud of the work you are doing keep up the good work charlene Ivory ❤️
Jess Margaret: Molly Ranney, Definitely the stylist to visit at empire in Boston before she graduates.Molly even just starting out seemed like she’s been behind the chair for years she was kind talented & most important she listened to what I wanted in a hair cut specifically in the length removed & stuck with exactly i was asking for I was more then satisfied & hope to find her one day working on Nantucket but until then I look forward to going back before she graduates for hopefully some color but definitely worth it & just a great experience overall.
Siddharth Vaghela: It was a wonderful experience. Abigail did a fantastic job with my hair with superb detail. Plus its very cheap.
Colin Mastrocola: My hair stylist was Abigail and she did an absolutely phenomenal job. Service was professional and she was able to accommodate different style changes during my appointment.
lilly pevzer: BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD STAY AWAY!!!!’ I came in for highlights and not only was the “stylist” EXTREMELY unprofessional but also got charged more than the posted amount & got BUTCHERED COLOR in the end! Legitimately orange when I asked for dark brown. I’m shook!
Raja Shekar: I had a very good experience here. Charlene was very patient in listening to what I needed. They gave me suggestions on what to do for my hair. Definitely recommended.
Rinki Kundu: I was a little nervous to get my hair done at a salon. My fears were put at ease when Molly expertly brought back health and beauty to my hair. It was an absolute pleasure to have my hair done by Molly.
Nicole Torres: This place is awesome! Jasmine did a great job on my nails.
Art Chishti: Makita is a careful and meticulos hair specialist. Highly recommend.
Cassandra Lane: Charlene is THE best braider. Super kind and caring. Makes you feel at ease and comfortable. Seriously I love her!!
Diana Watson: Abby was absolutely amazing. She was very gentle and had a lot of great tips on how to manage and take care of my hair. I also had Nyah help with my hair she was amazing great customer service. She’s young and very talented I would love to see more of what she can really do with hair. Like she is full of potential for such a young age. All the artist in the salon were exceptional and all had great advice. I will definitely be back again
evon cairis: I had a young girl named Marissa give me a trim today. She was great. She took plenty of time to make sure that both sides of my long hair were even. She touched up my bangs also I had a great experience with her. You can tell that she loves doing hair.
Jady Moya: Just got my hair done by Makita. She gave me a bob cut and flat iron! It came out beautiful!! Book with Makita!
Aaron Haynes: It was a great experience and Jasmine Clark did a fantastic job on my hair. She was very professional and has amazing skills!!!

James O'Brien: Charlene
Aramis Reyes: This was trully an amazing and exiting experience. I’m glad I let myself be practice towards someone future. Marissa treated me as a friend and I felt right at home.
Vaishnavi Dasari: It would be great if the students get more tools to do the nail art.
Sumaya Ahmed: Lily was so helpful and great person she has recommended me the product my hair needs and educated me about the product and very lovely I will definitely come back I had a great experience! I would definitely recommend to everyone! Thank you girl!! Very friendly people!!

The Elizabeth Grady School of Esthetics and Massage Therapy: what do users think?
Brian Atteridge: Loved it. Great work by Lindsey Clark
Arrecis: I loved going to the student clinic. Students were always so happy and eager to do their best. The environment was always so welcoming and a happening place. In the past the women who worked the desk including students at times, where always so polite and excited to interact with you. Seems like the quality in the school has really gone down hill! This time around my experience was so distasteful. The woman at the desk I believe her name was Nora. Was so rude, condescending and abrasive to everyone! She seemed like she was really miserable at her job transmitting her vibe to everyone. Most of the women in the waiting room were all talking about how disrespectful she had been to all of them at the time and in the past. She refused to make any appointments claiming she had a long line of people checking in and out. There was no one waiting at all.If she is that nasty to paying customers I wonder what her interaction is with the poor students. If anyone in upper management reads this, some serious attention should be given to the woman at the front desk.
Jasmine Velasquez: If I could give this school a zero I would but unfortunately that's not an option but where should I start with this review. First of this school is so unorganized and doesn't care to fix any concerns or complaints given by students. My class has been complaining for a few months now about certain problems and no one has addressed them even though we've talked to quite a few staff members already. My second issue is that the school gives you the bare minimum when it comes to supplies. This program is pricey and the products we are given to practice with are small and terrible so I'm not sure where all the money is going to. My third issue is that the staff communicates terribly to the point that one day our class was left with no instructor for a good half hour until our classmate went looking for a random instructor. My fourth concern is that whenever something goes wrong the school immediately blames covid, which is understandable to a point. This program has been open all throughout the pandemic I believe but yet they still haven't solved even the small issues that come up with it. You would think this isn't their first rodeo. I honestly could go on and on with this review but I'll stop here for now. Overall if you're looking to attend a school to become an esthetician or masseuse and would like to actually receive quality education, I advise you please look for other options before attending this one. I'm trying to help future students from dropping a good amount of money on this "school". If I could go back I honestly would have saved the money and gone to Disney, would have been more worth my time. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a better school experience than me! Also in case the Elizabeth grady staff is reading this which I doubt because I'm just a student there please remove the picture of me on your Instagram page, I did not give permission for you to post that. Thank you.
Urban Beauty Lounge: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueAs a day spa owner, and graduate of Elizabeth Grady I truly appreciate their attention to detail. Best Aesthetic training. Elizabeth Grady Graduates are further along in their training than any other school In Massachusetts.
Melissa C: In November, I got a facial and massage during the teaching day. Both were wonderful and very reasonably priced. The areas are lovely and clean. I'll be back soon!
Gwyneth Garland: This was my very first massage! Kevin was very accommodating! I live 4+ hours away but I will try to visit every visit I make to my brother.
bianca Perez: Critical:Communication,Value
Crystal Thompson: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Arleny De coo: Positive:Professionalism
Isabel Torres: Positive:Quality,ValueI had a wonderful time studying here! All of the teachers are wonderful and I learned so much. By the time I got into the field and graduated I was very confident and it was an easy transition.
Deana Rocco: After coming across a recent review, I’d like to share my own experience with the educators at this school. In my own experience, there are some ups and downs to the school but overall my experience with the teachers here have been phenomenal. Marie Robledo has been supportive and educating with both external and personal problems relevant to the program. She is fun and positive in the classroom and is open to conversation about sensitive topics and offers a space for private conversation outside of the classroom during and outside of school hours. Elaine Crossan is absolutely the most amazing person I have ever worked with in my educational career. She is an expert in her field, genuine and empathetic, and treats her students like family. Her intention is set in making sure we are comfortable and prepared for our future careers as esthetician’s. I cannot recommend her more as practical teacher. Mrs. Smith is sweet and caring and dedicated to teaching Theory in the most enjoyable way possible. She brightens the classroom and subject with mini games and enthusiasm. She creates a happy and fun environment for learning and is understanding and caring towards her students. Ms. Witkus is on top of her game, and works hard to keep the classroom motivated and interested in the subjects of marketing’s and sales. She works hard to keep our student clinic running and functioning. Overall my experience with the Elizabeth Grady School’s esthetics program amazing, I would absolutely recommend this school to any aspiring Esthetician in the beauty world.
Bradley Cox: EDIT: After seeing my review, the director of the school Ms. Tool reached out to me to discuss everything that had happened. I explained in detail some of the altercations and we had a very productive conversation about why I and my classmates felt that all of the issues were being swept under the rug. The conversation showed me that she really cared for us as students, and it seems that the situation is being looked into further, for which I am grateful. I would hate for future students to go through similar experiences as we did, so it means a lot that she would listen to my input on the situation, as well as others. As an institution that primarily caters to women and people of color, I think it is of utmost importance that instructors are empathetic, understanding, and willing to listen, which is something Ms. Tool showed me today. The teachers were amazing for the most part! The administration could use a lot of work however. There were many incidents with one specific teacher, Marie Robledo, who had a very negative attitude, picked fights with students, and made multiple insensitive comments. She was picking on one of my classmates for being a Vegan. My classmate asked if the wax was Vegan and it turned into a huge thing. Instead of answering the question, Mrs Robledo went off on a tangent about how young people are so sensitive. This was completely inappropriate. There were multiple other incidents where Marie Robledo would pick fights with specific students, but it felt as if nothing was ever done about it.Overall, I do not regret attending EG but I do think there is a lot of work to be done to improve the environment. I learned so much, and again, the majority of my instructors were wonderful, but one bad instructor is enough to tarnish the image of a great school.
Syrah M: Wonderful place to visit as a customer, the facials are fabulous! You are in a large room with many other customers but it feels private enough and the students are very professional and do a great job, and the prices can't be beat!
Anthøny Løder: My Mom works here and says it's great. My grandmother has gone there, also says it's great. Pays enough and has a bit of benefits. It's close to a lot of other businesses so it ge5 a lot of traffic.
Ligiani Goncalves: If you are looking for a new career where you can help people feel better Massage Therapy it is a great choice.I highly recommend Elizabeth Grady School. I attended the Massage Therapy Program and I loved everything. The teachers are amazing, very professionals and prepared. Since the beginning I got all support that I needed. The entire School staff are very friendly and welcoming. I feel prepared to this new field, I am sure a got the best Education at Elizabeth Grady School. I also won adorable friends. I truly recommend.
Aimee S: I went here for a tour as a prospective student. The head of the department (massage) was very condescending towards me. I felt very pressured, as if enrollment was required after the tour.
Debra Vye: Plan on some day attending

Merry Rejouis: This place is very segregated seems like the Blacks are on one end with a black instructor and the Asians are with a separate instructor. There’s no products for black clients and the people are rude . The Asians instructor follows you to the restrooms , She stares at you while you’re getting your hair done through the mirror from the other end of the room. Felt very uncomfortable! She’ll leave her side to come to behind the student that was doing my hair just very weird Energy . The student was very professional, gentle, caring made sure I was comfortable after telling her I felt uncomfortable. The minute I walked in the school the Asian were not welcoming at all. The products are not for black people with textured hair . 5 star to the student an work I hope & pray she hurry up an graduate from this school because this school is not it.
Catherine Luddy: I was HIGHLY disappointed as were a lot of my classmates.
Carlo Lee: If you need to take the massage program , be prepared with some self defense tools like pepper spray in case someone suddenly get mad and put you into unsafe situations! Because some one in the class is very easy to get mad and stubborn.

New England Hair Academy: what do users think?
Danaé Barg: Had a lovely haircut done here by a friend of mine who’s a student! Professional setting, and the leading teacher Mrs.Michelle helped my friend right along!! I look forward to my return! I am so stinkin pleased! Thanks 😊
Tina Marie: Alyssa, was my stylist, a full foil, cut and dry. She did an amazing job. Detailed oriented, polite and accommodating. Ms. B, was overseeing, her input was spot on, she truly knows the what’s and why’s. It is refreshing to see someone instruct, encourage, and give praise when praise is due. Thumbs up all the way.
June Umlah: It was great. I would go back
Maria Xhalia: Honestly if I could I would give this school 0, it is not as great as they make it seem… My story behind this is I attending New England hair academy and it was cut short I had to transfer schools due to students threatening me. Students here are very childish discarding there age. They are super disrespectful and threatening has been a problem in the school before my situation. I had to go to court for a restraining order and the school did not take any actions, after I begged for help from them. I was concerned for my safety at this school and all the school wanted to do was have a talk with all the girls instead of taking action to making their school a safe environment for all students. This school is all about taking students money they don’t care about their students safety. I really hope this school gets their stuff together because no one should ever feel like if they leave the building they could end up in the icu and the school not helping in any away to help prevent you from getting physically assaulted. For anyone that wants to attend this school I advise you to do more research there are amazing schools out there I promise I’m so happy at the school that I am at right now because they actually care about my safety and don’t let students run the school going around threatening teachers and students. Good luck to everyone.
Brian Smith: My girlfriend had a beautiful color and cut done. Staff was fantastic! And the students learn on the job as they go under the supervisor of an instructor.
Mark Manni G: The women and men of the hair academy do A great job. My family of 3 all go there now. Great value too.
Pearl Thomas: Those students are graduating soon and don't need to be. White girls attending that school does not no how to African Americans black hair. All them black girls in there and they give a white girl who allow a 15 minutes relaxer in my hair which didn't do nothing for me. I was so disappointed paying my $35.00 for what. I look the same as I did when I came out. Bad place of business for black women. I will never, ever go back there or refer anyone. Terrible, terrible hair do. Anyone who knows African Americans Hair takes longer to do than 15 minutes on hard coarse hair. I waste my $35.00 , but I guess you get what your money paid for. They should have not charge me a dime.
Tom Huynh: I needed a haircut quick before a flight and this was the only place open. I knew what I was getting into. It’s a school. They’re still students. It’s not meant to be perfect. My expectation was low but they still managed to disappoint. I supposedly got a student named Jacob that was graduating and he operated like he couldn’t give less of a care about his job. This guy spun me around so many times instead of going around me so I can see what he was doing. That just screams laziness on his part. He was incredibly rough it felt like I’ve gotten cut in the back of my neck. Pretty sure he thought he was cutting a mannequin. The haircut was literally the worst cut I have ever had in my life. At some point I even told him “dude stop cutting you’re making it worse.” They either need better training or this kid needs to spend some more time in school. No matter how desperate you are for a cut, please don’t come here.
Belen Lazaro: Fantastic!! The service is awesome and prices are very economical. The best part is being able to contribute to the men and women who are in training as stylists, beauticians, etc
myrella leal: baddddd
Gracie Grace: i graduated from new england hair academy in 2020, quite a tumultuous, unprecedented time in the world, but new england hair academy did exactly what they promised me when i signed up, which was to get the hours and education needed to go on to the state board exam. i am now a licensed cosmetologist working on newbury street, and i will always say one of the best decisions i ever made was going to school here. i loved the staff, especially ms. nagat!! thank you for helping me start my career!!
Jay Cashman: It's a really good place to get a fair haircut honestly you should tip thease guys there here really trying,I like to hear the honesty from someone who is learning and the instructor is there if they run into a issue you get way more for your dollors here really nice to have a baber actually try to please you $$8 bucks how can you go wrong there it feels good helping someone learn while you get a great experience in the process Id give a higher rating if I could awesome place
Theart Beauty: Critical:Quality
Onica Mendes: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Khaled K: I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. They practice on your head and charge you less. I had terrible experience here 12 years ago, and today I am writing a review because before Google reviews weren't as well know as it is today. I would give zero stars if I could. Don't go here if you have dignity, or self respect. Don't make the mistake I made years ago. Peace.
Samantha Draper: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Joseph Lee: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,ValueWORST PLACE EVER
Ellen Feldman: Great people
Anthony Cassesse: Made an appointment for my elderly mother to have her hair cut at 1pm today for a 5:30pm appointment. Arrived at 5:15 and was told to please wait outside due to covid 19 protocol. Then after waiting outside for 35 minutes the woman said there was no appointment made for my mother. I know for sure it was to be for today. Actually I had to call twice because the phone number is answered by another area and I had to be given another number to call. I always recite the time and day when making an appointment. My 85 year old mother was so upset and not to mention why we were unable to have her hair cut. Very unprofessional. If considering going here, I suggest you think about going somewhere else where they have their act together.
Truth: Bring friend over. She want to dye her hair to coffee color. The student took a black dye. My friend said she doesn’t want black yet the student still make it black. Told her it won’t turn black and afterwards it was absolutely black. She complained and they just claim “they are just students”. By using the term “student” as an excuse they don’t care about their sloppy job and not taking any responsibility for it. Anybody with common sense will at least apologize, but the staffs here are so horrible they can’t even give a proper apology. The service here is absolutely horrible.
