Massachusetts General Hospital Blood Donor Center: what do users think?
Gary “GMGJ” Johnson: I am at the gallon level for donations to this site. I am O neg. O neg is the universal donor. O neg people can only take O neg blood. The life I help, could be my own. Staff is great, I take the MGH shuttle to the hospital. Great snacks.
Jessica Wang: The staff are always so welcoming, knowledgeable and skilled at venipuncture. The first time I donated, I had a minor adverse reaction and they were quick to respond, making sure I felt better and more comfortable. They usually give away free items like shirts and tote bags for those who donate, and the snacks and beverages are always of great variety and plentiful.
Anas Scrip: My third and last blood donation at Mass general blood center, the reason why is we donate blood and you guys sell it to your patients through blood bank, if you are talking about blood donation, well it has to be for free for the patients too, that’s a shame , unreal
Alice: Sanitary, professional, and very welcoming experience for my first blood donation! Will be returning
jonny hep: Staff is very friendly, attentive, and appreciative. Good selection of snacks as well
Scott Mustard: The team at MGH Blood Donor center are great and I feel safe giving blood and platelets during pandemic.

American Red Cross Blood Donation Center: what do users think?
Jailene Ramos: This happened last year and I forgot to write a review about it until now that I am looking to donate again and it seems this location has many available appointments compared to others. I had made an appointment and like many others in the reviews, showed up on time for my appointment and was turned away by an incredibly rude lady who gave me no good reason for rejecting my very valid appointment except for "we're full." Why would you have more appointment slots than you can handle? It was such a disappointing experience and I haven't donated blood since then because of it even though I'm O+ and it is greatly needed. I was going to try again and came to the reviews to see this habit hasn't changed so I think I'm good, I don't have time for this.
Arpit Jain: Really sweet people working here. I did a whole blood donation and it went great. Parking is free with a validated ticket at the garage next door
Bonnie Ho: I went to donate blood yesterday (02/19/2023) and had a great experience. Shout out to the team on staff yesterday. I have small veins so its difficult for people to find them, but they found a way and reassured me that I wasn’t a bother. There was also a person next to me who was super anxious but the a few staff members gave her comfort, held her hand, gave her an ice pack, etc.
E. Rockwell: Excellent center and very convenient! The staff is experienced, knowledgeable and kind! Donate blood and save lives!
Greg Kinlan: I showed up to give blood. The lady who administer the blood donation was very tired. She must have yawned 20/30 times in my presence through the intake and procedure. The actually blood donation was a nightmare. She inserted the needle into a bad vein and she needed to replaced by another phlebotomist. It was just a terrible experience. Go somewhere else honestly, the incentives are bad here because the experience is disappointing
Kyle Saylor: I am incessantly inundated by Red Cross with pleas for blood donations and every recent attempt to schedule an appointment at this donation center has resulted in day-of cancellation. My last attempt, they waited to tell me in person (after I had made the trip to the donation center) that they would not be able to facilitate my donation. It seems that the ‘critical’ need for blood donations isn’t enough motivation for the Red Cross to honor their appointments. I will continue my attempts to donate, but I am not impressed with this donation center.
Jonathan Leibovich: I attempted to donate blood earlier today and was greeted with two receptionists who had made up their mind about my appointment before I even said a word. I had scheduled an appointment earlier in the afternoon and was told that I didn’t have an appointment even though I had my rapid pass ready. I understand that it was an appointment late in the day and you want to go home, but to put in literally 0 effort for someone going out of their way to donate blood is just disappointing. If you’re going to put in the effort to donate blood, don’t do it here.
Aaron Arnold: I love my career with the Red Cross.
Jennifer Woods: I attempted to donate whole blood today and had an appointment time confirmed. When I showed up I was told it wasn’t in their “system” (which mind you was a piece of paper). The receptionist went to ask the nurse and she refused to take anyone without an appointment. I showed the receptionist that my appointment was confirmed and thus I did have an appointment but they refused to allow me to donate. Seems like a pretty questionable system and practice to turn away an O negative donor.
Rachel C: I love the staff here!
李子俊: New edited: After the complaints, I received the call back and someone talked to me and apologized. On Feb 11 I donated again. I did not pass the pulse test at the beginning, and the staffs are patient to wait me calm down. Then I passed the pulse test and started the 2 unit platelet donation. They assigned the experienced staff and used the single arm. The needle injection is quick and successful.New donors, please always ask an experienced staff to inject the needles. I have 2 band-aids on my fingers as someone failed to collect enough hemoglobin. 2 mouths ago, the staff failed to inject the needles on my right arm. I could not bear the pain and screamed. I would not change my ratings until Red Cross replies and explains the detailsEdited: I submitted the complaint to the Red Cross consumer service email, still waiting for response.
Timothy Meeker: Staff was very professional, friendly and courteous when I was running late on the train. The facility is quiet, clean and very accessible. I gave platelets over two hours and my only real gripe is that the chair was broken, so my back got cramped - but still 110% worth it!
Richard Callahan: Professional but check in was slow
Bruna Vilela: There was an accident at 93. I ended up being 15 min late. They couldn’t take me in any longer. Mind you it was a 3 hour, platelet donation time slot. I never once took all 3 hours. I had my rapid pass ready and all. But they couldn’t take me in for being late. I’ve showed up on time every other time and had to wait to be taken in (which I never minded). When I asked why, they couldn’t even give me an explanation, all I got was a very awkward “yeeah…” no one planned this accident on 93 and it is ridiculous that they couldn’t be slightly human about it. Ended up having an empty chair for 2hrs and 45 min.
Susan Buta: Do not even begin to tell us how critical the need for blood is after cancelling my appointment for this facility twice two weeks in response to your "urgent" messages. 7/21/21. I was personally called by someone at the ARC. She basically guaranteed my appointment and yes, they kept the third appointment. It should not be that hard!
F D: This is my ever first blood donation. At this location, the nursing staff named Fei (or Phee?) (name tag was hidden) today, on July 18th, 2021, had the worst attitude. She used her monotone in directives and answers to all questions. She forcibly pulled a post blood donation paper pamphlet away from me without any warning because she wanted to place the barcode sticker on before giving to me. She seldom looked at me when I asked questions and stared on my phone screen for no reason for straight 5 seconds. Very passive aggressive that she was reluctant to help her fellow coworker when a machine was beeping and angry/annoyed at me for asking questions. I could not tolerate that almost I did not donate and wanted to walk out because of the fear that she may do something horrible wrong with her almost offensive behavior. Certainly I will never go to this location for any foreseeable future donations or if I will ever donate again to experience this terrible service. Unsure if she had always been this way or just today turned out to be a bad day or just toward me. Regardless of how often she used "please" in all her "commands," she didn't seem to mean it. Otherwise, it was pleasant to converse with other fellow blood donors and exchanged experiences.
Omer Zeliger: They cancelled my appointment without notifying me lol
D Harmon: The staff is nice. The place is nice. There were 12 chairs, over 6 staff, and only two people donating. The website said that there were no appointments available. The staff had to be persuaded to take me as a walk in. What's up?
Lefkoful: Avoid the red cross. They may be one of the only options in MA. But they should be avoided.
Julie J: Last time I went to this place and the took more than 500Ml of blood from body and the last who pinned the needle in my body was very hesitated to take the needle back. I was lousy for next 3 days and had to eat plenty of food to keep upright.
Carol Carveth: Friendly people, AND you can get parking validated at a nearby parking garage for all day. That's kind of crazy.

BioLife Plasma Services: what do users think?
Amanda Françà: Very professional and organized. The first query will charge up to 3 hours, but after that each query will charge about 1-1.5 hours. Make sure you eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water the day before your appointment and the same day. The team is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, I loved the experience and have been recommending everyone I know to join this donation chain.
Margaret Hoffmann: Very well organized, efficient, great staff, remarkably comfortable and pain free.
Phillippe Silva: it was easy, well attended, clean and organized environment.
Matthew “Matt” Bryson: Kevin and Rachel were great! Talked me through the process and made it very simple and painless. The initial visit was lengthy, but understandably so with the physical and questionnaires. Definitely will be back to donate again.
Keishaun Turner: The service an the people are excellent an it is worth coming especially if you need some extra cash on the side
Bri Mann: The entire staff is amazing and friendly with each donation! Despite fluctuating wait times for lines and the occasional issue during donation this Medford location makes donating pain free and easy. Between ongoing conversations during each step of the donation and each visit Medford BioLife staff try to go out of their way to make time fly.Laura and Isabella are a great tag team during taking vitals. The fun banter back and forth between this duo helps keep my blood pressure within range as it distracts from thinking about the potential “time out” for a high heart rate.Kevin, Reed, Karen, Lyla, Rachel, Cat, Thomas and Kari all make the hard part of being stuck in the arm pain free (most of the time) and insure comfort during the entire donation process.Kate and the rest of the nurses are always welcoming with issues (because I’m always a problem) and are quick to help other donors as well.Over the last year of donating lines have been all over the place throughout the day and guaranteeing a quick donation is a hit or miss with no time other than opening super quick. I recommend giving yourself extra time in your day for donating in case lines are long as this location works through staffing issues with the increase in donors. But who isn’t having staffing issues in today's economy? Some days you can walk in and be out within an hour other days it may take nearly 3 hours be prepared for anything.
H M: My son and I checked in here at 1:30.Now the time is 6:05, we are still stay here.My son is still on the chair now.All staff are great, but our waiting time is sooooo long. 10/14/22Went to the center for an appointment this morning, answered a few questions on the computer and got in line for a blood test.I remembered that I had left something in my car and went out to retrieve it. My car was parked in front of the facility. I immediately returned to the line and waited in line and one staff member took me out to another room. She told me that if I walked out without staff permission I could not donate that day. I didn't see any warning signs indicating that, and I was unaware of that rule.If that is the rule, I will follow it, but I felt it was not fair.Once you are in the facility, you are not allowed to leave without permission from the staff. Everyone please be careful.4/12/23
Marc Printz: Great operation with very pleasant staff. A little slow at times so it may take a awhile before donating.
Gonzalo Jimenez: Demasiado largo el proceso, y lo del dinero no es tan cierto. Las citas son muy demoradas. Realmente hace perder el tiempo.
Analysse: very nice and respectful and always willing to help with whatever is needed they defintly go above and beyond
Justin Gomes: This facility is very clean, organized, & professional. The staff are all so knowledgeable, friendly, & helpful.
Jessica Zipper: My favorite way to make a little extra cash. I love this place:)
Amin Lotfi: Nice & professional staff, but could use a little bit more in terms of compensation especially after the first month.
Natalie Ball: Really nice staff. Easy process - not too bad of a wait if you don’t go during peak hours. Clean facility and overall good experience!
Patricia Lord: I’ve donated twice to far and it’s been a good experience all around. The first one took a few hours but that was because of the initial set up. The second one I was there for a little over an hour and the actual donating time was only like 45 minutes for me. I did get a hematoma the first time I was poked, but it was fine, just a bruise, it happens sometimes. Both times I’ve been there I’ve had Kevin and he’s been super nice and charismatic. The first time I went, I wasn’t pumping my fist enough when the machine said to and he made sure that I kept pumping. I also really liked Jenna, she took my blood and ran it through the centrifuge and explained everything she was doing really well.
Rafaela Lopes: very kinda staff
Dara Nátali: I've been donating plasma at Biolife for a month now and have had a good experience with them. The staff is very professional and trained. I highly recommend this place for plasma donations.
Brenna Anderson: The staff here were all great, but things were running very slowly when I donated. Maybe Fridays are just busier than other days, but I spent almost 4 hours there for my first appointment. Online they mention a longer first appointment, so I expected to be there for about 2 hours which unfortunately just wasn’t the case. Definitely plan for an extended first visit.
Bladimir Jaramillo: Es muy bueno poder donar tanto para tu salud, cómo para poder ayudar a alguien más. Los empleados son muy profesionales en su campo y muy amables con el trato de las personas
Sebastián: They did not give me the first money for the first donation.
Alice Lee: The staff were so nice and the procedure went smoothly!
