Bustonian: what do users think?
Anthony Hazlett: Awful experience would never rent again. Bus driver was 2 hours late and drove dangerously home
Nicholas Careau: Based on an experience my girlfriend had renting a party bus from them for her best friend's bachelorette party, I decided to go with the Bustonian for a party bus rental for my girlfriend's 30th birthday. I had a great night planned with a dozen of her friends, to visit 3 venues in Boston, with spaces reserved for us at each place. The original conversations went well, and I had reserved the Mini for the night of her birthday.Matt, the owner, called me up the day before to tell me that they had an issue with the bus I had rented, and the remaining buses in their fleet had already been rented. Therefore, he made a deal with a friend who had another limo business, and stated that we would get a bus through this business, which he claimed would be larger and of the same quality as the bus I had originally reserved. The only change, according to him, would be that this company would be supplying their own driver. I agreed, thinking it would all work out, and appreciative of the fact that he went out of his way to save my night. The night of her birthday, everything went south. I was supposed to have the bus from 7 PM to 2 AM. Since we were trying to squeeze in time at 3 different venues, and I had reserved private seating at each, I was on a tight timeline. Seven o'clock rolled around, and there was no sign of the bus. Then 7:15.....7:30....Eventually, I called Matt back and asked what was going on. He apologized, and said he was going to look into it and find out what was going on. Apparently there was a situation where one of the drivers at this other company had bailed, and they had to scramble to find a replacement, which led to their arrival being delayed.I understand that these things happen, but due to the plan I had laid out for the night, was understandably worried. While I waited to hear back about the new timeline to expect, I called the managers of the first two venues, and had to explain my situation. The bus did not end up showing up until 9 PM. When the driver finally called me, I had warned him not to pull all the way into the parking lot where we live, as I thought it would be difficult for him to turn the bus around and get out of the lot, but he pulled all the way in anyways. He took about 15 minutes just to get the bus out of the parking lot, almost hitting one of our friend's cars in the process. Myself and one of my friends had to get out to help him to back all the way out of the lot and back onto the main road so we could head into the city. Due to this additional delay, we had to miss out on the second place I had booked, and I was not able to get the cupcakes I had ordered from a bakery nearby for the celebration.Once we entered the bus, the driver did not give us any instruction on how to use the entertainment system, turn on the lights, ensure we were comfortable, etc. We had to plead with him to turn on the A/C and the lights in the bus. In order to do this, he pulled over to the side of the road in traffic, and used the flashlight on his phone to look at the console. To make matters worse, the entertainment system on the bus for music did not work properly. Once we got it set up, we found that the auxiliary cable they had was held together with a bunch of duct tape, and continually our music skipped, or turned off completely. To make matters worse, the ride back home was extremely bumpy, with the driver swaying a few times on the highway when he attempted to change lanes. This made my girlfriend extremely car sick on the ride back and did not make for a comfortable ride back home at the end of the night.I was also not impressed with the quality of the party bus. The flooring of the bus was worn out and in terrible shape. The walls of the bus were lined with mirrors between the windows, two of which had broken and had a bunch of duct tape covering them. The seating on the bus was also not in good condition. Overall, I was not impressed. I was told they would make it up to me, and negotiate a better deal, but 1 MONTH later, they asked me to pay full price. I ended up paying 1/2 price.
