Enryka Christopher: I had an absolutely awful experience with them. I thought it would be easier to have someone else do my taxes this year instead of trying to do them myself. It turned out to be even more stressful. The online portal apparently glitched and didn't even process any of the documents i submitted. When I called customer service they were incredibly unhelpful and kept passing me to different departments, saying they couldn't help me, gave me conflicting advice, and then told me that I would be at fault for any tax issues that resulted from their broken system. I finally was told to just go in person, which I had to do the night before I needed to leave for a trip. I was told that I could just drop off my paperwork quickly and follow up via phone. I was sent an appointment time, but the business didn't follow the appointments. I ended up waiting close to two hours just to "drop off" my tax documents.

Kabir Bharti: First they rescheduled my appointment for a later time in the evening. I reached there for my appointment at 5 45 pm atleast ten minutes before. No one on the front desk. Staff there did not ask my appointment time but asked some other people who had later appointments or they already knew them. I left after wasting 45 minutes. I have had great experiences before with other block offices while filing for previous years but definitely would not recommend this particular location.

Katz Karr: Filed tax returns ~4 weeks ago with the added tax pro help with Deanna Silvas and they didn't get back to us for almost a month despite our numerous attempts to reach them or didn't do a single thing for our tax returns. Finally get a message saying they were out of office..in the tax season..AFTER they took our case in and charged us and then went AWOL again. Called the headquarters and got transferred to Shakir Khalifa who was supposed to call us at 2 pm. Received no calls by him and when we finally called, he acted like he had no clue what was going on. He had no idea what he was talking about, very unprofessional, didn't know how to do a simple thing online and extremely difficult to communicate with due to his lack of attention (why do you have to say your driver's license number six times for somebody to get it right??). He kept making us think that he had already done everything on his end, and wanted to charge us again and more this time???!!?! And the payment department said we could skip that option since it was their fault, but when we couldn't, we requested to connect with a tier-2 person to discuss about this, who hung up on us while we were explaining the situation in the most cordial way possible? Ended up wasting the whole Sunday afternoon close to 4 hours on the phone and getting frustrated witless. Decided to request a refund and go elsewhere. Please don't get any of these people if you want your taxes to be done correctly and on time! Avoid at all costs. Worst experience ever!

Brianna Ruiz: I got my taxes done, and paid $145 for the services. I remember when it was only $99. Okay fine I paid. I got notice that they needed another form which was never provided to me via mail. I thought I had all that I needed. Then I get an email saying that I need to pay another fee for them to fix my tax refund. I already paid $145 for maybe 30 minutes of work, and now I have to pay an extra fee because of something that was out of my control. I was never sent the form in the mail so I had to log into an account I haven’t logged into over 2 years and find the form they needed. Not my fault and I shouldn’t be penalized. I will not be going back to HR block ever again. Don’t waste your time going here. Use turbo tax or any other tax agent.

Marc Occil: I have been going to h&r Block for 7 years off and on. The overall experience has never been negative. Dealing with tax preparation tends to be a "it is what it is" type of situation. That is, it was. Until the experience I had with this year's tax preparer. It was SO UNPROFESSIONAL, it could almost be viewed on a level of being impressive. The moment was only rivaled by The h&r block agents complete lack of awareness of his constant bombastic statements.His condescension, impatience and constant exasperated tone, was ever present throughout the entire ordeal. Completely unnecessary explanations of rudimentary concepts, like how to sign your name on a line, was completely unnecessary. As was the tone of surprise to my college education or the following, openly spoken statement of "I I guess there's no need to check the box for federal drug charges" after that realization. Within clear air shot of other clients having their taxes done by other agents.The only positive to come out of this is now my first hand association with an example of negative brand recognition. Because this traumatic experience is now permanently linked with the name HR Block in my mind. Not the many years experience prior. This, one, HIGHLY NEGATIVE experience.

Michael Mirabile: The short version, for people looking for quick overviews, I would not use HR Block for anything other than routine filings. If you have anything more complicated, I would find other professionals to go to. Very difficult to get follow ups or more information from them after they've seen you the first time. Longer story below for anyone interested:The tax year of 2017 is the ghost that will never die for me, and a large part of that has been trusting HR Block with my taxes that year. They were never filed by the first agent I spoke with in 2017, despite having all the information available. I came back after getting letters from the IRS. The next agent I had walked through the process with me and refiled them. No harm no foul, sure I can chalk it up to that first guy leaving.Then on my 2021 returns I see my fed refund was absorbed. No problem, expected that. What I didn't expect was the total they said I owed, it was worse than before, showing no sign that the refiling was ever accepted or acknowledged. When following up with HR Block, I cannot get my new agent to get back to me, let alone follow up with the IRS.Save yourself the hassle and stress, go anywhere else.

Kids Email: If I could put negative starts I would!! I’m so upset they did the mistakes 2 times and they can’t seem to fix it.. and yes it is there job to fix there mistakes and if you don’t receive the taxes there supposed to be the ones to call and make sure you get them that’s why you pay them for a service and there supposed to follow through with it. I’m currently pregnant and have a 1 year old so I can’t be up and down the streets the fact that there not willing to help me just puts more stress on me anybody that’s a mom knows what I’m talking about. It took me four days to get them accusing me that I should have sent them to the App. So I sent to the App. Again, waiting, and than I was accused again that I didn't sent the documents. So I asked, where should I send them to? Can you make sure that the documents are not there because I do see them in the App? I was coldly replied "we will call you later!" and that's it. Since than I didn't hear from them. Extremely disappointing, very frustrating. I recommend not to come close

Øystein R.: very bad experience. verified on the website and showed up at my scheduled time (9AM), and the person at the desk just eye-rolled me and told me my rep didn't actually start work until 10AM (supposedly the website was "wrong"). she then asked me to write down my DOB and SSN on a piece of paper so my rep could access my documents when she came in, at which point I politely declined and went elsewhere.

It didn't feel at all like getting my taxes done (or how it has in the past). Zenaida was so sweet and nice, she helped me with my taxes which were more complicated that year due to foreign income. Would absolutely recommend!!

James Cummings: Really frustrating place, don't go here.Unhelpful, Unmodern, Unmotivated.Came to them for help with personal tax filing and filing for an LLC under my name. They took about 6 months of poorly communicating with me before they basically told me that they can't help. Seems like they really don't operate in a modern way. They lost my documents in their software system and don't seem to read or respond to messages in the H & R block online portal. Every time I tried to call over the 6 months for clarity about my tax situation I either got an answering machine or an unhelpful receptionist that always just said she would "take a message and pass it along". When I was asking about help with my LLC they listed some services that they could provide but in a tone that made me think they were trying to persuade me NOT to ask for them, presumably because it would be more work for them.They will say that they can help you with CryptoCurrency. They can't, they clearly don't know what to do.I guess I'll try my luck with TurboTax.

Kyle Fabel: Without question the most hostile and most rude front-desk of any brick-and-mortar place of business I have ever encountered.From the tax advisor who hung up in my face after taking no accountability for an issue they made on my tax return, to a hostile front-desk when I called back and was informed that 'my advisor was with a client' despite being hung up on 20 seconds previously. Eternal hold is the name of the game at this establishment. If by chance you actually manage to speak to a person who works here, it's never pleasant, and you're usually inconveniencing them by asking them to do their job.I wish I could recommend this place, but I can't. Avoid avoid avoid.

Abigail Wolowitz: Madeline Gatti is the most incompetent and unprofessional tax analysts I've ever met. She’s simply unqualified and cannot do the job properly even when someone has done half of the prep work for her. She did not provide any useful information on anything, after being unapologetically late for the appointment and utterly disrespectful during the whole process. Madeline Gatti is just unfit for any client-facing positions. H&R Block should not put someone on her last day (I can guess why) in the front office during the busy season. She single handedly ruined all the positive experiences I had with Block Advisors

John Hajjar: My advisor, Nazirali Khalifa, is probably the most disrespectful person I’ve met. He demanded I pay fees upfront, because he said I had tried to do it and wouldn’t want to pay the fees. I mentioned I was doing something wrong because my colleagues got different results and he said he remembered my colleagues also with a bad tone. He had no answer to the fact that they had in good faith and as expected all paid their fees. My colleagues mentioned he was indeed a very rude person but put up with him. I wasn’t willing to do the same.

Mark Means: I gave my taxes to the front desk at the Crntral Square location earlier this week for my tax preparer, Zeida. I have yet to receive confirmation that she had received them after calling the front desk and leaving messages for her to return my phone calls. Very bad Customer service that I've received! I do NOT recommend this Central Square location to have your taxes prepared!!!

Ed O'Connell: Olajumoke’s handling of my taxes was unquestionably the single absolute worst customer experience I’ve ever encountered. She makes Spirit Airlines and Comcast look like paragons of customer-centricity. It’s still unclear whether she intentionally scams or is so inept at her job as to defy reason. I simply do not believe any 5-star reviews for her or this office.The taxes were not ready by the filing deadline despite months of opportunity to complete, she was nearly impossible to reach in the weeks leading up to the deadline and on the filing day I ended up waiting in the H&R office for 3 hours in order to speak with her and learn that they were not ready. The office itself was pure chaos that day and there were numerous other people waiting for her who were in my exact situation. Also, she provided inaccurate guidance as to how to maximize the returns for my wife and me, and whether we should file jointly or as single filers.I basically never write reviews but feel obligated because the experience was so unbelievably bad I would not want anyone else to go through what I had to. Unclear to me how she has favorable reviews or any credentials supporting her proficiency at this job.

It took me following up on a weekly basis over the course of 6 months with Zenaida Faller in order to get any response relating to my 2019 tax filing. ‘Unprofessional’ and ‘disorganised’ do not even appropriately describe the horrible service this office provides. I have worked with agents at other HR Block offices and whilst they have incompetent (we have had to adjust previous years’ taxes bc of errors made by them), at least they were responsive and fast. Don’t fall for the same mistake of thinking that paying extra for a “Block Advisor” would get you better service, I can promise you that if you enlist the help of Zenaida Faller, you will drive yourself crazy following up to get a response months later.Similarly, I followed up with Zenaida about a penalty and interest fee to get reimbursed as part of HR Block’s guarantee. After 6 weeks of no response, I called the office to get support. I foolishly thought it was just Zenaida who is disorganised however, take it from me, STEER CLEAR of this office. I made a phone appt with another tax agent in the hope of getting some resolution on this issue and unsurprisingly never received a call. I contacted the office and was transferred to the manager who was unapologetic about me not receiving a call during my allotted time telling me instead that “we had a big staff meeting”. Further, despite me explaining the communication issues and lack of professionalism I had to deal with, she had the audacity of giving me a string of excuses: “it’s a busy time of year bc of tax deadlines” and “your email (from 6 weeks ago) was stuck in spam” (despite the fact that I’ve been in communication with Zenaida in the past). Finally, after 35mins on the phone, they have filed my reimbursement claim however, despite me confirming my mailing address MULTIPLE times, surprise, surprise, she entered into the system incorrectly so the burden is now once again on the customer to follow up with HR Block. It’s actually mind boggling this is a professional service provider. If they can’t get even the smallest thing of entering your address correctly into the system, it begs the question as to whether this is an office you can trust to complete your taxes. Once I get the reimbursement I’m owed, I will be grateful to never have to deal with this office again. Take it from me, tax is stressful enough, avoid this office like the plague if you want to maintain your sanity. Non communication for months on end, a complete lack of customer care or empathy and general incompetence for the most basic tasks should be enough to drive anyone away…

Helen Miller: Dave was extremely friendly and helpful, efficient, professional and patient. I learned so much about doing the taxes for my small business that I'm not sure I will need any assistance going forward. On second thought, I will definitely be working with Dave on my taxes next year, and the year after that, etc.Just following up. Another year, another tax season: Dave and his team just get faster and easier to work with, if that were possible! They are detail-oriented and efficient year after year.
