Bill Riley: BEWARE OF MANAGER… she lacks any ounce of customer friendly support. Other employees I interacted with were very helpful. It’s a shame… as this store has a good reputation. Ownership needs to promote another good employee to manager and replace the existing one or they will continue to lose sales. Manager approached a small table-top project with a “we can’t do that” and “it will take 6-8 weeks minimum” attitude. She then said it could not be done within 10 days (big difference between 8 weeks and 10 days). P.s. when I called to see if they were open on a Sunday she said don’t come at 4:45pm (as they close at 5pm). Shop elsewhere… until they replace existing manager.

Katie: The Door Store is an amazing local business. They made a custom cherry butcher block dining table for us and is just gorgeous. Their prices are very reasonable as well. A tad higher than Crate & Barrel/West Elm/etc, but the product is way nicer, made locally, and the wood is ethically sourced. The Door Store also delivered our table a week ahead of schedule. Lastly, their customer service is phenomenal; when we had a small issue with our table, they fixed it promptly and were easy to work with. We will definitely be repeat customers!

Noah Selsby: I was trying to find the right TV console and remembered that the Door Store makes custom pieces and made a fantastic bookshelf for me years ago. I called them and Dawn was exceptionally patient in listening to what I had in mind, looking at my drawings, and then providing me with a clear to understand diagram which I could then mark up with changes (of which I had few since she understood everything I wanted).Their team built it lightning fast and the delivery team was superb. While you do pay a little extra for a custom made piece, it is so well constructed I expect it will last me a lifetime and definitely a better investment than some poorly made stuff. Best of all, I sent her a picture of the bookshelf and they matched it so that it will age similarly and tie the room together!Support of local business is more important now than ever and you will NOT regret supporting the Door Store!

Subit Chakrabarti: I've had great experiences at the Door store! They made me a beautiful butcher block coffee table that is the highlight of my living room. They also helped me with some other woodworking projects that I cant undertake myself in my tiny city apartment. They definitely did not need to help out there - but Dawn is amazing and super helpful at everything ! If you need a table made out of wood, do NOT go to Ikea or Article or West Elm or CB2 or Overstock. These guys will hook you up locally with something that looks 10 times better, lasts 100 times longer and is only slightly more expensive (if so). Both times, they delivered FAR ahead of the due date. I literally cannot recommend them enough.

Lorna Gibson: Just wanted to write to say how much I love the new table top you made for me - solid oak, stained to match the base/legs that I already had from an old table that had sentimental value for me (I’ve had it since 1973, when I first started university, and later, as a professor, I wrote my first two academic books at it). The new table top replaced the old one that was falling apart with the veneer peeling off. The new table top is beautiful! I write at it every day and love it! Thanks so much for doing such a great job.

Spencer Marks: The first desk I bought from The Door Storewas about 30 years ago (a butcher book top and simple legs - prefect for the just out of college student looking for apartment furnishing). It has traveled with through serval homes and is still in use. Over the years, I have purchased a a few more desk tops as well as some fablous quality and reasonably priced dinning room table chairs here. (Anyone who has shopped for dinning room chairs knows that high quality and reasonable price don't typically go together). Anyway, I was just back, updating my home office after a long spell, and I am happy to report that the Door Store is still the same wonderful place I remember. Really super helpful, yet laid back people. Beautiful, high quality desks and tables that are remarkably affordable. They do custom work, or as in my case, will customize what you purhcase. I am now thrilled with my adjustable height desk. Just what I needed since it looks like I'll be working from home for the long term. They also have quirky pieces that are fun many with an asian flare. Anyway, I don't normally write reviews unless I feel the place / business is special and The Door Store definitely is. As you can see, I can't say enough good stuff about this place. Definitley worth a visit.

Raphael Matto: I had the best service experience of my life at this DWR (I’m mid-40s). The staff is wonderful! I worked with Adam L & purchased about 15 items over a 1/2 year period to furnish my new apartment. This was smack in the middle of the pandemic when there were heaps of supply chain & availability issues. Some of the items arrived quickly, within a couple weeks, others were delayed by months. Adam set expectations & guided me through all of it, provided updates, made sure I was getting the best sale prices, rushed to correct a couple mistakes for free (I’d forgotten to specify the leg color on a desk, and a table showed up in a different wood), and offered an incredible discount on one item I’d ordered that changed manufacturing locations & looked a bit different. He was so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient, esp with fabric choices, and some waffling on my part trying to decide between chair and sectional sizes. It really was the best retail experience I’ve ever had, both with the build-quality & beautiful design of my purchases and with the service—I’m so happy with how my apt turned out. I also worked with Andrew on a couple days when Adam was out, he is so relaxed & great, too, & the store manager, Margaret, who is wonderful, warm & friendly—she extended a sale date for me, & pulled some strings in a tricky situation. Delivery crews were also fantastic, navigating everything up a narrow steep staircase to my attic apt, and assembling everything quickly & expertly right there. One piece of advice: it’s good to know which type of delivery service an item is attached to—some usually larger items are linked to “white glove” delivery & can be partially unpacked in the street to squeeze them up tight spaces, & are assembled on-site. Other crews (standard service?) are only allowed to leave items on a front porch if they don’t fit in a door or up a staircase. So I’d recommend asking which type of delivery service an item is attached to, otherwise you might be confused or disappointed when something is left on your porch instead of being brought in. Anyway, highly recommended! I will always purchase through the store & not online for anything significant, it just really helps to have someone from the local store in your corner in case something needs to be returned, or to get status updates, etc. & I like knowing I’m helping out the local branch :)

Vicki Klein: We bought an Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. Everything went so well until delivery was backed up and communication with our salesperson/manager fell apart. We were told one thing and then another. We had to chase down people in charge for answers. They couldn't even get the delivery on time after they screwed up. Now we are trying to return the chair and ottoman and need to pay for the return and restocking fees. It's been a week since we've heard from anyone after our salesperson said a pickup would be scheduled earlier this week. Even today, after being promised someone would call, no one has. For the price we paid for this chair and ottoman, and for the price we now have to pay in return fees, the customer service (or lack thereof) is so ridiculous that I can't imagine anyone wanting to invest in this store for anything. Everything should be top notch at these prices especially the customer service "white glove" treatment. It's been a total headache. Never again.

Fang Z. Ni: We ordered and paid for a TALL Eames Lounge Chair. 3 weeks later a SHORT Eames Lounge Chair was delivered. When we complained, we were told the correct TALL Eames chair will be available in 3 months and swapped.... 3 months pass and they AGAIN delivered the SHORT Eames Lounge Chair. At this point I am speechless. Design Within Reach should invest in some quality control measures.

Alan Fried: Drove down from Maine to shop for a couch. Was a small line of about 4 parties. We stood there for 20 minutes with no communication from the store about what was going on. There was NOONE in the store. Then a guy comes, takes in the first party in line, and tells the next party it might be 15-20 minutes. So maybe an hour wait for us? But who knows? There was NO commuication. They clearly didn't give a damn about communicating with us. We could easily have been browsing in the store. Or have people make appointmemts. Just terrible cistomer service. Really disaapponting. We won't go back.

As noted in some reviews, the prices are more than what you might pay at a discount or Swedish-style chain. However, the quality easily makes up the difference. This is furniture that will look and feel good in one's house for a generation or more.In particular, Bobby Valentine has been a joy to work with when purchasing furniture. He's lightning-fast to respond with a quote and helpful with a good suggestion. He's the reason we're willing to make the trip into the city and visit this location.

I came into this store in search of a gift for my mother because she is on her death bed but her birthday is coming up soon. When I was looking in the makeup section on the second floor, I noticed an employee staring at me for a while. I went into a different isle and this employee followed me. You won’t believe what she said to me!! She told me I need to wear more makeup to cover my wrinkles!! THIS WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND OUTRAGEOUS!!! I CANNOT believe Target allows people like this to work for them. I HOPE YOU HANDLE THIS!!!

All in all, one stop shop for essentials but they may not have it and you will almost definitely not get decent customer/guest service.

Min: It’s always nice. The workers are all nice. Sometimes there are some stuffs that are out of stock but I had a great experience today. I left my laptop at the cashier and the guy kept it for me. It freaked me out leaving my almost everything. But, thanks to the worker I got my laptop back.

RoadTrip NewEngland: Good selection for an in-city Target, they have some grocery and then a little bit of everything you might need. Very handy if you live in Central Square or are a few stops away on the Red Line. Pretty much dead center between Harvard and MIT. There’s not a ton of parking in Central Square though if you are thinking about driving.

Ashley Landreneau: A mediocre CVS. Doesn’t deserve to be called Target. Always out of stock. Truly makes me want to unalive myself.

Angie Polakowski: This target is a city target with two floors with stairs, so be aware of this when coming. The food items are on the main floor and electronics, home, etc all downstairs. The annoying part is there is no easy way to use a cart in the store because of the two floor situation. The workers were all nice and I do appreciate the security personnel by the door. However this target was SUPER under stocked on so many things and part of their cooler section wasn’t even being used. I pretty much got the last one of every item I bought. It’s okay but obviously much better big box stores exist.

The staff act like you’re in their way if you happen to be going down an isle they’re coming up on. With the exception of a few employees who actually are really amazing this store has gone way downhill over the last 2yrs.

Robin Beaulieu: Came out of the iconic Porter Sq. Red line 'T' stop & headed for the Target located to its right-across the street. Three of the sales associates i interacted w/ were very helpful in giving assistance to my questions. Over all the store is well maintained & have a fair selection of merchandise (but no bird seed, which is what I went in to look for, & the ladies rest room has no way of drying ones hands). Otherwise I would return to shop here again.

Chloe Craig: I gave up on grocery shopping here because I consistently was throwing away moldy/spoiled food, often months before the expiration date. I've seen moldy food sitting on the shelves before and at least half their frozen section has clearly thawed and refrozen. It's ultimately cheaper to go to the Star market because I don't have to throw away 20% of every grocery trip.

John O'Toole: Zero phone support. The recorded message tells you not to ask for product availability. It only provides location and hours (which is available online, so that's useless.) I got through to a specific department, I heard them pick up the phone and hang it up. With a 20-30 minute walk, I need to be able to make sure the product I need is in store before I spend the time to go there.

L B: I ordered online and and received an email saying my order is ready for pick up. When I got I had a hard time finding parking, I had to circle couple times. When I got inside I spoke to a rep about my order, he asked me to wait while he goes find it. He found it but for some reason he had to go in the computer to check something idk what the problem was. Anyway O had to wait about 10 minutes for them to figure out something about my order. Usually they just scan my app and that’s it. Finally they got it figured out, never apologized.. terrible experience. I will never go back there.
