It was a fairly extensive job since, besides a new roof (with skylights, fan, numerous electrical sockets), a new wall, railings and a small extension to the deck had to be built. The deck was built over the winter months (December thru February) and there were some days when the workers were constructing in below freezing weather. Once we had the technical drawings from the Archadeck team, we discovered that the permitting process would require a variance because of city regulations, but she stuck with us and guided us through the process, even making sure that the application was completed properly. She even joined us on the prime time call with the Board of Appeals and spoke on our behalf. In the past when we’ve had home renovations and repairs, we’ve had to pay close attention to the work to prevent mistakes or nonsensical construction. Not with this crew. Whenever I had a question, they had an answer and could explain how it was going to be resolved. And, if I didn’t like something, they were willing to change it. I’ve truly had to rethink what my role was supposed to be as a homeowner, because in the past I’ve had to micromanage the process. No one wants to do that, so this round of renovations was such a relief.Initial pricing and timing estimates were right on target. We had a few addendums, but our own fault for making some changes as the build was taking place. They were minor too. There were times when we thought we were going to have to pay more based on unexpected complexity of the build, but Archadeck never asked for more money despite the small surprises. Lumbar prices increased since we signed the contract, but we never heard a peep. Bottom line, the team was determined to get it done within the original budget, and even more importantly, they were determined to get it done right, to our liking. You really couldn’t ask for more!We would work with the Archadeck team again in a heartbeat. They were excellent partners on our porch build and exceeded expectations. Danielle Manning: In the spring of 2017, Seal-A-Deck refreshed our Creative Playthings play structure. We had worked with them as part of a condo association to stain 3-story deck, front staircase, and porch and they did such a great job, we thought they may be able to help us preserve the play structure that was about 3 years overdue for staining. The quote was prepared over the phone after sharing images and some measurements, which was very convenient. They power washed, sanded and stained the structure over the course of two weeks. The stain was applied with care to not cover any of the swing attachments, railings, slide, etc. The weather was not cooperating, so there was constant communication regarding when the phases of the job would begin and end- we never had a question about what was happening. We were thrilled with the results and over a year out there is no sign of wear or loss of stain in any area (except where the lawn mower has hit the wood)- the after photos in this review were taken in October 2018 (16 months after the job was done). We were never home to see the crew that completed the job, but the results speak for themselves. And aside from the work itself, Michael and Katie were an absolute pleasure to work with. We highly recommend Seal-A-Deck for any exterior wood projects that require stain.
