Through The Forest Counseling of Boston: what do users think?
Tom: Absolutely awful. The billing department is completely incompetent. I confirmed they took my insurance 6 times and now they send me a bill. So I call I had to tell this person ”Nick” 5 times how to resolve this and then another 5 times that he had the wrong insurance on file. He still didn't get it. They are not charging the correct insurance. He told me that billing will call me. I knew they wouldn't. They still haven't called. I asked him for Felicias contact info but he is ignoring me now big surprise. Therapy is meant to help people now try to scam them out of $2075.00 dollars. I will be reporting this business to the BBB if this they keep messing with me.
Jesse Moskowitz: I was so excited to find this place initially and it seemed like everything was going so smoothly. They listed "some Tufts plans" on their website and in other areas and when I called I confirmed that my plan was taken. I was able to get an appointment within a week. Then the trouble started - they misspelled my name and that delayed being able to complete paperwork and took multiple calls to get fixed (they never followed up on ANYTHING they said they'd send over multiple phone calls during the week). Additionally the contracts and information they need you to sign contains contradictions in terms, inaccuracies, and half finished sentences (not confidence inspiring). Then Friday before my Monday appointment I still didn't have confirmation and reached out - was told that they were waiting for Tufts to respond to some sort of verification (and to "find out my co-pay even though I already knew this info and kept telling them that) and if they hadn't heard back by the end of the day then they'd call me to sort it out. At 3:30 still no word - I called Tufts and they had no idea what they'd be waiting on unless it was an out-of-network pre-approval which they didn't see in my file and they take 2 business days to process. I also found out that the provider they scheduled me with was not in network. No-one picked up the phone at Through the Forest Counseling despite repeated calls from 3:30-5p so I was left to wonder if I had an appointment and what to do (was later told they took half day Friday but that was never mentioned in my Friday morning call when I was promised a callback).I got a text the morning my appointment was supposed to happen saying that my "insurance is not verified" because they are out of network. I called to figure out what happened since when I scheduled the appointment I confirmed my insurance was taken. They suggested that they bill using a different providers name even though I'll still see the same person I was originally scheduled with. I said that felt like it could be insurance fraud and they agreed - I stated I was not going to work with them if they were suggesting fraud and wanted to speak to the billing team directly.I was given a non-working number for the billing team and when I called back the main line they were surprised the billing number didn't work. To their credit they offered an appointment with the one person on the team who does take my health insurance and if I wanted to continue with the original person they'd submit the paperwork to the insurance company (although nothing in my experience the past week says they'll actually do that). I explained I was no longer comfortable working with them because I cannot trust them - their billing team nor the person answering the phone who had not followed up on anything they stated they'd do (send e-mail confirming pay policy that was inaccurate on a form that needed to be signed, call back by end of the day, send forms/communicate with insurance). If I am unable to find counseling anywhere else I'll have to consider returning and at least I'll know exactly what to ask for and what to expect. It's unfortunate because it seems like once you can get into counseling it's a great place.
Tara Kennedy: I have been a client for three years of Through The Forest and would recommend it to anyone. I had a long history of anxiety and depression, but was able to make it through with the help of their counselors. They are very good at what they do and it's nice to know that there is a place I can go for help when needed.
Julia Jones: My last year has been rocky to say the least, and I've struggled repeatedly to find a therapist who makes me feel seen and heard, or who can even match the energy I require, so I didn't have high hopes when starting over here. But, wow, my expectations were completely blown away. If you're thinking about starting or returning to therapy, Through The Forest Counseling of Boston is the place to choose.
Robert Moore: The therapists are kind and easy to talk to, and I would highly suggest them. They provide the greatest services to its clients. Through The Forest Counseling has been a great experience for me; the staff is professional.
Drew Aderholt: Through The Forest is a great counseling office to work with. They have helped me out many times and I would recommend them to anyone who needs help. They have best counselors who really helped me through some tough times.
Candice Bousquet: I am baffled by these 5 star reviews. My experience with Through The Forest Counseling has been absolutely nightmare-ish. There are so many odd things about the administrative and billing process at Through The Forest Counseling it will have you wondering if it's a scam. When I registered for sessions, I was texted at an odd hour by some external admin who had me fill out a Word document that asked for credit card/billing information. I am so glad I never provided this information in plain text because almost a year after my session, I am still being billed for a session they ADMITTED they booked IN ERROR. I cannot tell you how many times I have contacted their billing team about this. I won't even go into the other mistakes they made with scheduling my one and only session and mischarging me so it was not under my Employee Assistance Program. Oh yeah, as far as the therapy goes, I would describe my session as strange and subpar. I was paired with a woman who joined the Zoom call from a dark room and seemed relieved when I ended the session early. I am normally not bitter, but after receiving yet another unpaid invoice email almost 1 year later, I am compelled to warn others about them! BEWARE!
Leonard Coleman: This is a five-star environment that is safe, welcoming, and sympathetic. The staff is extremely dedicated and aims to deliver the finest level of treatment accessible today. I've never evaluated or personally suggested a business before, but Through The Forest Counseling of Boston is outstanding in every metric and hence deserves the top rating.
Ethan Rice: The Forest Counseling of Boston was quite beneficial in assisting me to get through some difficult periods, such as divorce and the loss of my children. It was difficult to ask for help, but I am pleased I did. I'm grateful for the care I received. I felt heard, and all of the advice I received helped me reconnect with my children.
Edwin Roberson: I've been attending Through The Forest Counseling for a few weeks now, and I enjoy visiting every week. The staff is extremely polite and never has an attitude or appears to be bothered. The hospitality is excellent here. Every time, I'm made to feel welcome. My counselor is fantastic. I've learnt so much since meeting counselor here, and I can tell my counselor is genuinely interested in assisting me. So far, my experience has been positive. I do recommend them highly in Boston.
Seymour Wang: The most atrocious answering service I have ever encountered. Does not answer calls emails, or website applications and only calls back after a week. They then waited until the night before my appointment to send the whopping six pages of consent forms to sign and blamed it on me for not filling it out in the middle of the night. Oh, also, $75 cancellation fee.
Craig Young: Through The Forest Counseling is a community of people guided by excellent therapists who love what they do. They work tirelessly to ensure that their clients receive professional, high-quality care. As a counlser who is familiar with these clinicians, I am both excited and privileged to be joining their team in Boston soon. If you want to go to counseling with folks who are empathic, passionate, and skilled at what they do, give them a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Their workplace is a lovely and comfortable setting in which to speak with therapists who genuinely care about you and are invested in your future. There are therapists who specialize in a wide range of mental health difficulties, such as substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and family/relationship problems. I highly recommend contacting this therapists group.
Mary Mullen: They are well-versed in the issues confronting our community during critical times. They also have the knowledge to know which resources are available to their patients. While I cannot go into specifics, Through The Forest Counseling of Boston was eager to assist a teen who had had a horrific situation and had little resources. They are ardent supporters of their patients. These wonderful people are honestly recommended.
Adrian Williams: My children and I have been going at Through The Forest Counseling. Counselor here is very attentive, honest, and courteous. My children have a difficult time opening up to others, and team has made them feel comfortable opening up to them as well as myself. I know it will be a long journey, and I hope our counselor is in it for the long haul. Thank you for being an open book and allowing my children to express their emotions while making them feel comfortable and secure with you.
Thelma Webb: My very first encounter in counseling was fantastic and truly life-changing. I will be eternally glad to have Through The Forest Counseling of Boston. Counselor was professional and, in the end, incredibly helpful to me as I worked through this process. Our sessions have provided me with a wealth of knowledge, perspective, and healing. Counselor was attentive and established a setting in which I could feel at ease. We've had some fantastic laughter, some difficult debates, and even some much-needed tears. I would highly suggest them and am excited to put all I've learned to use.
Alex Grant: Through The Forest Counseling of Boston is my go-to for everything. I've been to marriage counseling with my spouse over the years. I've been there for work-related reasons, and now I'm coping with estrangement from my adult children. I chose to live here because I wanted to live as far away from my area as possible. I suppose I could argue that I found aid entirely by chance; I'm pleased with this service.
James Anderson: Through The Forest Counseling of Boston counseled me for 20 months, during which time they helped me understand how to make sense of what had happened to me as a child and how it was affecting my current situation. They paid close attention to what I presented to each session and frequently assisted me in developing strategies that were informed by my basic beliefs, while also providing me with helpful metaphors and visual representations of my words. I wholeheartedly endorse his reassuring and reassuring, person-centered approach.Surely Recommend them.
