The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill: what do users think?
Laura York: Just had them repair some items as well as update a few pieces of jewelry. They communicated cost, the broken pieces came back fixed perfectly, and the earrings they changed are stunning as is the necklace they added a birthstone onto. Highly recommend!
Joevian Harrison: No greeting at the front.I went in asking about my engagement ring because I hit something an my stone coming out of my ring an I was looking for it to be put back . He basically told me my ring was cheap and decided to check if my stone was diamond without my permission. This is what my husband can afford an it means the world to me. He was just really rude and made me feel less then. Another women of color walked in an his co worker rolled her eyes. Are we not people too ??
Teresita Grobien: Wonderful place I been a customer forever! Very knowledgeable jewelers and high-quality people and product. Hopefully they will stay in the area forever! Their services are unvaluable!! Thank you, Marcellus, Debbie, Ruben, Mike and Barbara!!
jonny hoglund: The owner is very rude.
David Leather: Had a wonderful experience from start to finish buying an engagement ring here. Would fully recommend to anyone.
Aida Elkhoury: Very bad customer service. Bought a watch as a gift and I found the same exact watch elsewhere for a third of the price. Came back to return on the 8th day, and stated the reason for return… they wouldn’t accept my return for refund nor price match. Not even wanting to negotiate. Reason is that return policy is 7 days only. I feel like such a small window for return is something you want to mention to your clients when they’re making a purchase - especially if it’s not a small one. Highly disappointed in the lack of customer service. Will not returnResponse: Thank you for the leather strap, Debbie. I was discussing with you the high likelihood of returning the watch as I was buying it and not once was the return policy mentioned. Also, I believe that accommodating a return request that is one day late is always possible if the owners are flexible enough, given the circumstances and the case. In all cases, we were technically forced into picking a different watch that has a selling price comparable to the market. Thank you so much!
Lyudmyla Korchomna: What a wonderful experience! I can't recommend highly enough Burchell's jewelry and its owner Alexander!I have brought in a bunch of jewelry I don't ware anymore and wanted to make one good peace out of it. Alexander was very professional and knowledgeable. Helped me with the design (I showed him over 100 pictures of what I wanted). I would give Alex a 100 starts for hispatience.Absolutely happy with the result!Ordered another piece from him right away.
Rachel DiBella: I can't recommend The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill enough! I did business with Deb and the owner, Ruben. Everyone was so kind, responsive, and advocated for me as I negotiated the sale of a piece of estate jewelry. Ruben and everyone who worked at the store was welcoming, patient, and genuinely interested in me, rather than my money. Each time I went in, they offered to clean the ring I was wearing, complimentary. I can't wait to go back and give them my business. I highly suggest supporting this wonderful local business!
Susan Siegel: My thanks to Deb and Ruben for creating a wonderful ring in a new modern setting from my mother's diamond. It turned out so beautifully! When we picked it up I (coaxed) my husband to get down one one knee. Even though we have been married for 36 years, I never really had a formal proposal. It was so sweet how he did it (and he was even able to get up LOL). I highly recommend The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill.
Eliminate Racism Brookline: I had inquired at other high end jewelers in the area, and asked friends who they would recommend make repairs to a combination of fine and costume jewelry in disrepair or in need of cleaning. After a terrible exchange with another Jewelry ‘professional’, during which the owner was initially reluctant to meet me and rude when he finally did, it was a relief and a delight to meet the team and go through my collection of items that needed the careful attention of experienced jewelers at The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill. They promised to research and contact me to report on potential solutions to my request to repair the clasps on two bracelets. Those two projects are still ‘pending’ at this time because a part is out of stock for a particular clasp and the search for a magnet to repair the other is ongoing.I appreciated that phone calls arrived when promised and that I was encouraged to wait to come into the store until most of the work had been completed.I had three necklaces restrung. Another piece of sterling jewelry had been dropped and a piece had broken off and, unlike any other jeweler I had approached, this team agreed to take the project on, talk to colleagues to discuss possible solutions, and provide me with a quote and perform the repair if I agreed to the plan and price. I am very satisfied with the piece now that the work is completed. In contrast to this positive experience with Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill, a couple of years ago I inherited some pieces from my spouse’s mother and took fine gold, pearl and diamond earrings to be switched from clip-on to pierced at another Jeweler. Though they did a good job (and polished a gold ring my spouse considers an heirloom in order to gift it to the next generation to his great satisfaction), I left that jeweler with no sense of having started a relationship on which we might build trust and collaboration in the future. The work I took to the Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill was less straightforward than simply soldering/switching earring backs and required, in some instances, a level of creativity/problem solving that called for explanation, collaboration and communication. I am very impressed with the shop’s manager, the other members of the team and was pleased to meet the owner: uniformly they were personable, knowledgeable, organized and professional.Certainly Jewelry stores in a high end mall like Chestnut Hill are in the business of selling new jewelry to customers. Just as car dealerships recognize that a thriving business depends on strong performance in both sales and service, a quality jeweler recognizes that customers who seek repair on pieces purchased elsewhere will return to pick those pieces up and likely return with repairs again in the future. Frequency builds familiarity. Familiarity breeds liking. Liking tends to bring the customer back to ‘check the prongs’ and peruse the jewelry cases while waiting. I feel seen, listened to and valued by The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill team, though I have not made one purchase from their inventory (yet).I appreciate the respectful way I was treated in every interaction and the honest assessment offered on the more challenging repairs I presented. I am grateful to every person with whom I have had contact at The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill and look forward to bringing this set of repairs to completion and embarking on more as we build a relationship characterized by fondness and trust.
Adam Kotov: Very quick and professional service, will definitely come back.
Samantha A: I recently moved to the area and used this jeweler to resize two rings and appraise them. Initially there were some minor communication issues about my appraisal, but we got it figured out when I called the store. There was a mistake made where the stamp inside the ring got buffed out on resizing, and some of the milgrain work was buffed away on accident. I expressed my concerns, and Deb, the store manager reached out to me. She had me bring my ring back, and worked diligently to get it fixed until I was completely happy with the finished project. I can't speak highly enough of her. She went above and beyond for me to make sure I was 100% satisfied. I am so happy to say that I would love to continue to work with her. Even though there were a few small issues, she absolutely did her best to solve them for me, and in the end came through. I am so happy with my rings. Thank you, Deb and The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill!
Susan White: I needed help with the a design to incorporate some rarely worn diamond stud earrings into an engagement ring setting which could accommodate three existing stones. The store manger, Ded, knows her professional and was extremely helpful in identifying a new setting that would work. It was made on time and at the specified price. I LOVE it.
sadegh moghadami: Even single star is way toooo much for them ( her name Betty, she kept saying this my name is Betty)I was with my fiancé at Saturday night March/2/2019 we asked her (Betty) to show us a ring very nicely , first of all she was roud and looked at us like we can’t afford it, and then she asked about my ID😬 and I gave her my ID and she did not let us to see the rings.i don’t know she wouldn’t trust us or what though she wouldn’t even touch it, and she treated us very badly.we were like confused, that something wrong with us or what.....I felt bad right in fount of my family.....I asked her would you tell about the ring, she said I have no idea!! Where the stone from and how many Caret is? She did not even know the information about the ring.of course as soon as she relized we have an accent her attitude changed. She is stuck at 1970s , and she is a racist.
Gia M: I needed a wedding band made, because my engagement ring had a curve to it that didn't fit with any standard bands. Debbie worked with me and had a CADCAM of my engagement ring made to get the perfect match, and got me a wax mold to try on with my engagement ring. It came out perfect! They did a wonderful job matching the curve and color of my ring, and matched the diamonds on the edge of my engagement ring that would be covered up. The rings fit together perfectly, and it looks great!
Anne Carballo: I once brought in a piece of jewelry to be sold thinking it was all 18K.Ruben told me the center part was 24K. I wouldn't have known if he hadn't been so honest.

Daniel R. Spirer Jewelers: what do users think?
Kae *: Contacted this jeweler (and offered compensation) for assistance determining a correct size for a ring, and also to look at his showroom as I have a stone to be set and am in the process of selecting a jeweler to set it. Received the most blustery, rude email reply stating that he didn't resize rings not his own, etc., which was *not* what I was asking for, and he did not seem at all interested in meeting with me to show work or discuss a commission. That was all I needed to know. Not recommended whatsoever.
Ann Fullerton: Daniel has helped me with two very special projects.Repairing my Grandmother's gold ring including replacing the missing coral stone, and rebuilding my eternity wedding band out of platinum because the white gold was causing an allergic reaction.I trust him to do a great job, make thoughtful suggestions and be careful with sentimental pieces.
Meghan Bushnell: Daniel is a talented, knowledgeable and transparent jeweler. My fiance and I visited him together to get a sense of ring vision. We immediately fell in love with his style and attention to detail with his jewelry (and his sweet dog, Ziggy). I initially wanted an emerald but thanks to Daniel's informational post about emerald's softness, we pivoted to a diamond and incorporated side emeralds. From my fiance's experience, Daniel was a sincere mentor who guided Evan throughout the process (design, diamond selection, insurance), without being a salesman. Daniel remembered our first visit and was able to create a unique and beautiful ring that I'm madly in love with!We are so grateful for finding Daniel and for the stunning ring he created for us! Daniel is now our jeweler and we can't wait to work with him in the future. Thanks for everything Daniel, see you soon!
Alexandra Estrada: I recently took my engagement ring for a new setting and couldn't be happier. Daniel worked with me to find the perfect setting and the work is impeccable. I will definitely shop again for an additional band to wear with it!Edit: I did go back and get an additional band. Another example of beautiful workmanship! He told me he sends out a reminder for a cleaning every six months and guarantees his stones as long as you bring it in during that time. Not to mention that you can bring your jewelry in any time to keep it clean and sparkly! I'm addicted and can't wait to go back for my next piece.
Elizabeth Stapleton Hill: This is the BEST jewelry store EVER!!!!! Custom pieces, knowledgeable owner/artist, great service. This is my favorite store.
Cheryl Zurbrick: Daniel is an expert jeweler who has done work for me in the past (resizing an antique engagement ring, resetting stones, appraisal, advice/recommendations, etc.) His prices are fair and he always gives accurate time estimates for how long the work will take.
Jass Bianchi: Awesome work Daniel! Thank you for accommodating us for our special day!!!
Bren Phillips: When I started shopping for an engagement ring, I was not looking forward to it. My parents are lawyers, and they had sued a “reputable” chain jeweler for something that should have been filed by the prosecutor, because it was downright criminal. Therefore, I was very skeptical going into ring shopping. However, I eventually found Danny and I was first taken by how I really liked the unique rings on his website unlike the mass produced ones that all looked the same.I then went on to read pretty much every entry he had written on his blog, I stayed up until 4 A.M. the night I found it reading, and by the time I was done I felt like he was a friend of mine. I then went in to meet him and got to know him even better. He is honest, passionate, and skilled with his work.My now fiancé and I are engineers, and I came into Daniel’s shop thinking I wanted to buy a synthetic (lab grown, but real) diamond for the engagement ring. I thought it would be really neat, and thought my girlfriend would think it was cool as well. He told me the reasons why he didn’t recommend it, and things to be careful about, but said if that is what I wanted to do, he would be happy to set it into one of his rings. I ended up doing some more research, and decided he was right from the beginning. I ended up buying an ideal cut natural diamond from him instead. I ended up with a fairly priced, custom made, and very beautiful engagement ring.
