Sam Davis Guitar Lesson: what do users think?
Mike Krause Music: Ahhhhhhh....Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh........
Gloria Calib: Professional staff
victoria torres: Sam Davis has been a gift to my life. I am a vocalist and under Sam's tutelage, in just 1 year and 8 months I have started to gig professionally in Miami, FL as a guitar-playing singer. He is not only an incredible guitarist and music teacher, but he is a joy to be around. Sam has the ability to create a custom curriculum for any student and work with them on exactly what they need to learn to reach their musical goals. He is a master music theorist as well as jazz guitarist who is fully schooled in the history of guitar and popular styles that emerged throughout its popularity in the 20th century. You want to play funk? SAM DAVIS is your guy. You want to play rock n roll? SAM DAVIS. Pop? Sam DAVIS! blues? go to Sam Davis?! Jazz standards? soloing? Understanding the fret board? jazz theory, music history, LIFE MENTORISHIP? Sam Davis. There is no better music teacher out there for any student of any age that wants to learn to play an instrument and do so joyfully. I can not emphasize enough how methodical his teaching is either. He has teaching materials he has accumulated and written up over the past 30+ years for any concept thinkable. Learning with Sam Davis is completely different from taking lessons with a novice teacher who is a skilled instrumentalist. Sam is not only an expert musician, but he is truly an expert teacher and pedagogue. You will be delighted by the new ways he encourages you to think about your instrument. I highly recommend Sam Davis to anyone who wants to learn guitar or music.
Dan Pugatch: . Two states away, how would I ever take lessons from Sam again? There is no replacement for him. Sure there’s other guitar teachers, many qualified ones but they aren’t Sam. They aren’t your mentor/coach/best friend all in one. Like the Highlander, there can be only one Sam! After a SEVEN YEAR dry spell of not playing guitar that girl I impressed, remember her? She and Sam worked it out so I can take lessons from him over Zoom skipping the 5 hour round trip drive. As someone who had taken in person lessons for years the virtual lessons are just as great. I even got my old day and time slot back ;-
Alison Gant: Sam is a great guitar teacher! He is funny, patient, so generous with his time and knowledge, and I guess the proof is in the pudding: I'm playing more than I ever have before. I had to get used to how fast he talks--I get a little deer in the headlights with theory, and I had to learn how to read tabs, but he makes it all make sense. He gives you LOTS of material to practice, but never with any feeling of drudgery. It's like you're admitted to the Sam Music-verse: you look at music from every angle and Sam makes you feel both awe at how cool it is, and like it's completely accessible to you no matter how beginner you are. No matter how many times I say, "wait, I don't get it," he's always patient, goofy and comes up with some oddball reference to make you laugh and see the problem in a new, enlightening way.
Cavan Bligh: Been going to Sam for about 6 years now. Guy knows his way around the guitar and can teach a boatload of theory to boot. I am definitely a better guitar player AND musician in general because of his classes. Highly recommended.
Leo Rusinov: Without a doubt, Sam Davis is the best guitar teacher out there! I have been playing for 15+ years, and still learn something new every lesson. He knows everything there is to know about music – I can bring in any song and he’ll help me dissect it and explain what’s happening. He’ll show you why the guitar player is doing what he/she is doing, and why it makes sense in that musical context. He’s helped me with theory, style, technique, and everything in between. Sam is very easy to communicate with, flexible with scheduling, and clearly loves what he does. And, there is always parking by his house. Thank you, Sam!
Tim Hurley: Intelligent, patient, entertaining, and eccentric. Would highly recommend.
Anirudh Natarajan: Having played for several years, I started taking lessons with Sam expecting to learn a few more licks and using classes as a commitment device to keep playing guitar. But after taking classes for the last three years in Sam's bovine themed apartment, I realized I had, to use a Rumsfeld-ism, many unknown unknowns.Sam can teach you licks and songs and stop there, if that's what you want. But you would be missing out. Where he has really changed my playing and broadened my horizons is by introducing me to music theory in a way that I can understand and appreciate the intricacies in songs that I would not have noticed before. He takes every concept and looks at it from a thousand different angles till you see the connections. And then he shows you how to apply it in your playing. The best thing I can say about Sam is that I wouldn't have learnt the things I know now without his help. And I continue going back because I know he has a lot more to show me.Anything else you should know about Sam, you say? Did I mention he has a life-size animatronic cow in his house? No, seriously. He does. Even if you don't want to play guitar, take a class to go check this out. You'll leave amused, bewildered and a little terrified.
Barbara Bai: I have been Sam's student for a little more than half a year now. He has a super interesting life story, a very cool apartment, and mad guitar skillz. Let me preface this review by saying that before I started taking lessons with Sam, I did not know anything about guitars or how to play one. And now I can play the Beatles. Pretty awesome. He never makes you feel bad and doesn't force you to do anything. There is no "right way" to play guitar either. He definitely tailors lessons to your individual needs. Or if you never practice and don't really have a direction (like me), he still gives you things to work on and doesn't view you less than his more advanced students.VERY FLEXIBLE with scheduling. I never had a problem with him cancelling on me. In terms of starting lessons on time, it depends if the student before you showed up on time. Usually, I start a lesson 0-10 minutes past what we had scheduled it for.He teaches you so much more than how to play chords or a certain song. He will go over music theory and other tips and tricks about playing guitar. Sam's knowledge of guitar is infinite. Literally. Infinite. He gave me advice on what to look for when buying a guitar, adjusted and tuned my guitar (for free) when I first got it, and taught me how to do those things on my own. If you don't have a guitar, he has a roomful of all sorts of guitars that you can borrow to play.He is located in Inman Square - between Harvard and Central. It is a convenient walk from the Red Line, and there is no lack of street parking if you have a car or a bike. Also, youtube "Sam Antics - Darla the Cow." Cool condo, amiright?!I am a singer, and my vocal lessons are double what he charges. You can also get free lessons if you prepay in advance. He accepts cash, check, or credit card.I can not recommend Sam enough! If you are on the fence about taking lessons, I say go for it!!!
Sarah Quinn: Sam is the greatest. He's not only a phenomenal guitarist but also a phenomenal human being. He an expert on both theory and mainstream, and can play a wide variety of styles and genres. It's uncommon that someone so skilled can also teach so well.
August Emerson: Sam Davis is one of the most skilled and knowledgeable guitarists out there. I've been taking lessons from him for close to twelve years now, and there is not a single question I had that he wasn't able to help me find the answer to. not only is he an astounding musician and an incredible teacher, he's just a really fun guy to be around, from the practically psychadelic experience of meeting his beloved life-size fiberglass cow Darla, to his fantastic sense of humor and of course, he's a really smart dude. I can certainly say that taking lessons with Sam has changed my life for the better. if you ever get the chance to meet the guy, you're in for one hell of a ride.
Brittany Leaning: I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Sam for over a year now and I can honestly say it’s still my favorite hour of every week. I came into my first lesson as a true beginner with no music or guitar experience (including education about music theory) so Sam has definitely had his work cut out for him with me. Sam is great because no matter what mood you’re in (or how prepared/unprepared you are for the lesson), he will work with you and be on your team. I’m always amazed by Sam’s patience. For example, I will ask him a question about something that I should definitely know — something he has taught me in multiple lessons — and he won’t get mad or annoyed when I can’t remember the answer. Instead, he’ll calmly help me see that I already know the answer … I just have to think about it in a different way. Our lessons are always fun and I often leave with my cheeks hurting from laughing too much. Sam has been playing and teaching guitar for most of his life and he really knows his stuff. I highly recommend Sam Davis for anyone looking to take guitar lessons in the Cambridge, MA area.
Seth Morabito: Went and saw Sam for a couple months. Fantastic teacher and highly recommend him.

Adam Sherman Voice Lessons Cambridge: what do users think?
Laura Delany: Adam is a great teacher who is patient, kind, and flexible. He taught me how to trust my voice and musical instincts, and be confident. I studied guitar with Adam and he was always willing to help me figure out the chords to whichever new song was stuck in my head. I learned a lot, it was a pleasure working together!
Dimitri Makrigiorgos: I had never done any voice lessons before, so I didn't know what to expect and was nervous contacting Adam to begin learning. Adam dispelled all my fears very quickly and I immediately decided to continue taking lessons with him. He helped me with the basics, answering any and all questions I had about singing or music in general. Adam is very welcoming, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. Our lessons were a blast and I always walked out of them feeling refreshed and happy to be alive. I would recommend Adam as a vocal teacher for anyone interested - even if you're a complete beginner who has never sung outside of the shower.
Chris Dalla Riva: I've worked with tons of vocal teachers, and Adam Sherman stands above the rest because he tailors the lessons to what you are trying to do as an artist. As a songwriter and performer who works mostly in rock music, I don't need to be trained like an opera singer. Adam gets that. Over the last few years working together, he's helped me enhance both my vocal control and vocal power. Definitely reach out to Adam if you are looking for a music educator.

Boston Bass Lessons Unlimited: what do users think?
Dave L: Riley is a great bass teacher. He is friendly, supportive and easy to work with. He will tailor the lessons to the type of music and bass playing style you are interested in.If you are just beginning, he can teach you the basics of what a bass player should do in a song, how to play in time, stay on the beat, and how to move from one chord to the next. He can also provide exercises to help you move your hands more efficiently. While he is always willing to answer questions you may have, he will also guide you so that you can learn to work things out on your own, like figuring out the chords and basslines to a song.He is also a highly skilled musician trained at Berklee College of Music so he can give you insights into music theory and why a bass player chose certain notes or lines to play in a song.He has a wide knowledge of bass players and the styles they play such as James Jamerson and Motown, or Paul Chambers and jazz, or Marcus Miller, Flea and Larry Graham with Slap and Funk. We’ve worked on songs by the Meters, various Motown tunes, as well as ones by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine.Working with Riley has helped me feel much more confident playing with other musicians and allowed me to take on challenges that I might not have done before.Dave L.
Peter Larsen: I've been taking lessons with Riley Hagan for three years. He's a knowledgeable, positive and encouraging bass teacher. He's been teaching since his teen years, and he can put techniques and concepts across in a way I understand. He keeps it fun and I'm excited about learning my instrument with Riley.
Ross Hartmann: Riley's learned from the best (Jim Stinnett) and attended the best (Berklee College of Music). So it's an obvious fact that Riley is the go-to bass instructor. He will teach you the building blocks to make it so you're not just playing music, but feeling music.By the time you're done learning under Riley, the bass will be an extension of yourself.

Boston Rock Guitar: what do users think?
Stephanie Cross: Joe is the best and most understanding teacher. He teaches the concepts in a fun way that takes no time for the student to pick up. Joe has helped my knowledge of music grow and I would recommend him to anyone.
Nina: Joe is amazing guitar teacher with a great personality and communication skills.
Grace Roberts: I have always wanted to learn how to play guitar, so I was grateful to find such a helpful teacher. Never once did I feel that my lack of experience was a burden for the instructor. The first lesson was a lot of fun and I was able to learn the very basics of playing the guitar. It has been exciting to see progress happen so quickly. Would highly recommend this teacher!
Andy Grant: Joe has been my guitar instructor for about four months and I can honestly say that I've learned more from him in this time than I have in years. His teaching method has allowed me to be much more understanding of the fretboard and how to utilize as much of it as possible. Lessons build on each other so that you reinforce the knowledge you gain in previous sessions which IMO is invaluable. He challenges you but his teaching style is engaging and fun and he's just a great guy to sit down with each week. I would recommend Joe to anyone who is interested in becoming a better guitar player - whether a total beginner or someone with some experience (and bad habits, like me). He'll help get you to where you want to be and you'll have a great time doing it - I wish I had known about Joe a long time ago.
Eric Kline: One of the best guitar teachers in the area! He gives a free thirty minute trial lesson, which is awesome. Very personable and enthusiastic. Would suggest to anyone!
Andrew Wait: I had a really positive experience learning to play the guitar this way. It was comfortable, effective, and fun! I would strongly recommend coming here to a friend.
Randy Chambers: great lesson! the class was a lot of fun and the teacher was so personable. very worth the time and money!
Antonietta Foglia: The key is the quality of the lessons that Joe gives with his experience and background versus what I've had with other teachers, it's a lot more organized, it's a lot more structured. The stuff I've done with Joe just moves you forward a lot faster.
Luisa Cartagena: As a music educator, I really needed to learn how to play guitar in order to sing and accompany myself for my students. I started taking lessons with Joe a few months ago and I can say that I've gone from zero playing skills to playing a good number of chords with different strumming patterns that has already helped me in my teaching. He's very patient with me, and appreciates enthusiastic students that want to learn music whether it be for work or for fun. For me, it has been challenging, fun and definitely never boring. I would recommend anyone to take lessons from this guy, he truly knows what he's talking about.

Bertrand Laurence Guitar Studio: what do users think?
Davis Sweet: The owners are very nice, but they don't stock higher-end instruments
Daniele M. Becker (DANA): Impeccable
Gary Luongo: Glad they stock the D'Addario Folk Nylon strings I like. Jean was very helpful and nice. Thanks Gary
Andrey Fedorov: I love this store, and am very happy to support this small business, which at times has a better selection than big retailers. I was saddened to hear they are vehemently opposing the bike lane initiatives of the city. I want to say that I never had a pressing need to park in front of this store. Parking space availability is not going to affect my interest or ability to shop here. Update: I believe the bike lane design being implemented by the city is the best attempt we have at balancing the needs of various stakeholders of the community.
Jayson Hreczuck: Owner vocally against basic infrastructure improvements. If you care about public and pedestrian safety, take your business elsewhere.
Tony B: It's a nice little family owned shop with a wide selection of quality products; issue is that I've gotten 3 guitars setup here and all 3 of them have buzzed when I got them home. One so badly that I couldn't overcome it and had to bring it back. Maybe they are taking on too many jobs and the tech is trying to crank them out too quickly, but $60ish for a setup that I then have to fix is a dealbreaker for me.
Scot Fitzsimmons: Small shop, well stocked for strings and accessories. Owner is super helpful!
paul trunnell: Super friendly and professional, great selection of reasonably-priced stuff, love that they have several left-handed guitars always in stock. I generally drop in for small stuff (strings, guitar hanger, slide, etc.) and they always have what I'm looking for.
Sketches for you: I was going to buy a bass guitar here, but the lady wouldn’t let me try out any of them, even though there was no one else in there, AND I had brought my headphones. What’s more is that she wasn’t busy at the moment. I ended up going over to Mr. Music in Allston to get a bass and bass amp from there.
César Rincón Mayorga: I love this place. They've got a whole bunch of Fender instruments. The people who tends you here are extremely nice, and they know their products. I got lucky there was a 75th anniversary Fender Telecaster on sale and, well, I bought it.5/5.
Thomas J: Hands down the best place to go for Fender. Huge selection. Just bought an excellent Professional Strat to go with the Performer Tele I bought here a few months ago. Tried a bunch of guitars and they have everything you could want up and down the line. Very patient with me on both experiences and I am VERY picky. Go to some other shops, try them as I did, you will return to Guitar Stop. Ten stars!
Robert Goodwinr: Cozy place with lots of great stuff inside, including lefty players which is what attracted me being a left handed player. This is a family owned place from what I gather, and everyone that i've met here has been very nice to me. So, not sure why there's negative reviews posted here. One of the guitars i bought kept fret buzzing, brought it back weeks later and turned out to be a bad neck, exchanged no problem. Restrung one of my guitars right in front of me, set action, intonation and left within that hour of arriving. *****JEAN - I just wanted to say a big Thank You for adjusting the bridge on my Strat the other day! It's plays out great now staying in tune very strong!! Appreciate. See you guys later, til next time****. Robert
Juana Mendoza: I got my ukulele three months ago I love it! And when I didn't know which ukulele I should get they help me right away.they help me on Which size I should I get and the 7 day return policy help me a lot on if a which size. So I recommend
Billy Lazzaro: Lovely shop, incredibly kind and patient staff
Clawman Segele: Guitar Stop is a great place to get a beautiful instrument. They have a very broad and very nice selection of quality instruments, that are quite affordable. The staff is very responsive to emails and very helpful in store as well. I would highly recommend Guitar Stop to any musicians looking to get a nice guitar, bass, banjo, or any of the other nice instruments they have!
iZyxel: Really enjoyed my experience there! The staff were really nice. The pickups on the bass I bought were a bit loose but that's alright, probably came loose on the way home, which I can fix.
Jonathan Roses: Knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful staff.
Larry: I purchased a guitar online with curbside pickup. The staff were very responsive to my email inquiries and friendly during pickup. I look forward to returning when in-store shopping is available again.
Tim Russell: Best place for lessons. Instructors listen to students. Easy to schedule.
Owen Turner: Amazing little guitar store. You can tell they really care about guitars and guitarists.
Colleen Barry: I love this place! They are kind, honest, and knowledgeable. They had a lot in stock. They had me try out a bunch of guitars until I found the sound and feel I wanted. They even got my five year old son involved. They put on a fresh set of strings for me and I was ready to go. DON’T BUY A GUITAR ONLINE! Go to Guitar Stop and fall in love with your next instrument. Because, as they say, how many guitars does a guitar player need? Just one more!

DK Guitar Lessons & Repairs: what do users think?
Viktor Herrmann: Dennis is an awesome musician and a fantastic teacher!
Shannon Ryan: Great teacher! Perfect fit for any level of experience/age
Jim Stevens: Had an Ibanez bass that needed a hard to find jack replaced and a the frets dressed. Dennis was able to find the jack, and did a SUPER clean and quick install. I was also getting some buzzing on the same bass when I had the action set to my preference, I asked Dennis if he could check that out. He went ahead and did a fret dress as well. All I can say is wow, the bass plays better than it ever did before. If you’re after a super personable, professional, and skilled luthier, you can’t go wrong with Dennis.
