Kelly Dugas: The staff at CHA are knowledgeable in general, they do know their stuff, please don’t get me wrong. I really do feel horrible for giving editing this review and giving them 1 star of 5, but must because of ongoing issues that should not even be issues. The one long running issue is that they seem to conveniently “lose” and/or “misplace” paperwork every time I turn around.Even better is being accused of not sending in said paperwork in the first place, when in reality, I did send it in. Such issues have notoriously held up the recertification process multiple times, as well as when wanting to move. Not everyone has all the time that they do, to keep redundantly sending them paperwork to the point that they ask you to stop because they can’t keep your file straight. The tenant is better at keeping tabs on paperwork instead of them.Edit: even with COVID and my husband having been laid off due to the ongoing pandemic, CHA is still claiming that they need documentation that is not existent and not necessary because of COVID. They claim they’ve sent notices and emails that I never even received, because if I did, I would IMMEDIATELY have responded. Telling them that didn’t help, they continued to condescendingly quote rules and regulations verbatim, not giving the benefit of the doubt.CHA has been super condescending and demanding ever since they got in trouble with the Feds almost 10 years ago because they had given the Marathon Bombers’ Family a Section 8 Voucher when they lived on Norfolk Street.Never in my life have I been talked down to as much and been accused of being irresponsible when it’s CHA that’s irresponsible and incompetent with paperwork. CHA really needs to get with the program and stop playing favorites and politics.CHA needs to stop being so condescending and technical towards people with Section 8 Vouchers in general.They don’t treat the folks who live in the projects like this, despite a significant amount of those folks driving Cadillacs, Lincoln’s, Teslas, and other high end luxury cars that are considered assets when determining the rent. If my husband or I dared to even go and lease one of those types of cars, believe that CHA would be terminating the voucher and evicting us out onto the street.Update, Tuesday 11/22 9:30AMYet again this morning, I get a call from CHA that they never got the documents that I sent to them last Wednesday, 11/16 at 11:36AM. Yet again , they were very condescending and wanted to reiterate their point and telling me to let them explain. Um no, I will not let them explain their nonsense when it’s them that are the ones that claim they’ve never received documentation from us when I sent it AT LEAST 3 or 4 TIMES and in a timely fashion to boot. Again, they condescendingly reiterated that they want everything right away or again they’ll be taking my Section 8 Voucher. It’s not mine or my husband‘s problem that they’re the ones that are incapable, incompetent and irresponsible with people’s documentation. We are and we’re diligent with everything request wise.Again, I sent them everything, all the documents yet again and I reiterated that it was at least the third or fourth time that they’ve done this, and that it should not be happening again. Further, that there would be legal repercussions for them if they did it again and threatened to take my Voucher.If I could Cambridge Housing Authority 0 stars, then I would. The incompetence, irresponsibility and stupidity displayed by them. Is sickening.

Shirley Castro: CHA has left my family homeless. We have a 5 month baby in our house hold and they decided to evict us we have tried everything in our power to stay and they keep denying our stay leaving me, my boyfriend, and our 5 month baby on the streets. I do not recommend housing with this people they don’t care about nothing. My heart hurts knowing that tomorrow we have no where to stay and winter is coming. Tenants should have their rights. It makes me sick that due to CHA our baby and ourselves won’t have a warm place to stay.

Steve Dai: I have a section 8 tenant and I want to help him to stay where he is, but it was very difficult to dealing with the Housing Authority. Most of time I receive no response at all, it is like talking to a wall. I try to help people in need but the attitude I am getting make me think twice.

katie lydon: Well the door was locked, i couldnt get in. Thank goodness a young woman was going in so i explained how i needed to drop off my CHA Recertification. I asked her to make sure it got Weimon Chi. She said no problem. She was very nice. I believe her name was Stacy...not sure. metasbiya aberra: The waiting list took forever and the person working on the waiting list is (I will say a guy always answers the phone)not professional and he didn’t want to wait till you finished your questions always hung up the phone while I am talking.the housing authority needs to fix this 😡

Lindsay Kippenberger: I was told I was getting an apt brought in all my paperwork was supposed to be moved in my September. I have a 22 month old daughter and I am homeless it is now almost November 1st I've been told people will get back to me and they haven't and that I would be in on October 1st then the 15th now we are well passed that and I am just being ignored if I said what I really think I would be called all kinds of negative things that I am not but this is out if my hands now I've done everything I needed to do. The mess up is on thier end now and I'm just being ignored. Way to help a family in need!!!

nubian goddess: Front desk staff was highly unprofessional. I experienced sexism. Upon arriving, i waited for the gentleman In front of me to sign in. One of the 3 females that sat at the desk greeted him and asked if he had an appointment, she then called the person he had a appointment with to let them know he arrived. When it was my turn, I said hello, signed the book and proceeded to take a seat assuming she just couldn't read his writing so that's why she asked him those questions. 15-20 min went by, I was forced to listen to raunchy music and the 3 of them gossip about an associate of theirs, until one of them decides to ask.... "Ma'am do you have an appointment". I once paid a $60 fee for being late to a recert appointment, but this time I came on time, and still got seen late, because " 3" front desk staff cared more about chatting than doing their jobs. 7/3/18 1:26pm

Cathy Guertin: Akelius is not resident friendly.As you can see from the photos it is never dark at night so we never see the stars. Never know it is night as the lights shine in our windows.And given the rectangular configuration there is never any sunlight shining in my windows. Andrew would never live at 16 or 17 or 18 Forest court.

A White: This review comes after living in one of the *newly renovated* units at 18 Forest Court.  The new kitchen appliances are nice, the wood floors are charming.  This is where the good part ends.  Living in this building was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever endured.Upon moving in, the one shower knob did not turn to hot water.  I showered at the gym for the first weekend of my lease.  The internet cable was buried behind the wall and required 3 visits from Comcast, only for them to tell me - 3 times - that there was nothing they could do, the building messed up.  For weeks, the way I obtained internet in this unit was to have Comcast run a cable through my 1-floor OPEN window.  This rigging stayed in place until Akelius finally admitted that they had to dig through their own wall to find the cable.  The people living 1 floor above me had exactly the same problem when they moved in.The locks on the front door broke and had to be replaced.  The shower was never refinished with a slope so after every shower, you're required to drain a half inch of water from the shower by hand, otherwise mold grows.  The bathroom door doesn't fully shut.  On a first floor unit, 1 window was installed with locks.  The other 7 had no locking mechanisms installed.  The laundry facilities in the basement are creepy beyond belief. Most people in the building use the laundromat around the corner.Over the summer of 2018, Akelius shut down the water 9 times in 1.5 weeks, advising tenants to stock up on bottled water.  The ongoing renovations were filthy and loud.The worst part of this unit, by far, was the heating - or lack thereof.  The unit heated by an old, decrepit radiator system.  There are 3 of them in the unit and not one of them ever worked properly.  They are so loud that a tenant is essentially left with 1 of 2 choices - sleep through the night with the heat off or lie awake with the radiators banging loudly all night.Myself and other tenants have purchased white noise machines, and space heaters just to get through the winter.  If I had stayed just 1 month longer, I would have filed a case with the Board of Health for violation of the Right to Quiet Act and the right to working heat.I had moved to this building with the intent on staying for a few years as it's within walking distance to work.  But just 1 month in to my lease and I knew I'd leave.  The building management is oblivious, ineffective and incredulous.There are virtually no online reviews for this building. The parent company, Akelius, has MANY online reviews and sites dedicated to documenting grievances against the company. Having spent 12 months in one of their units, I would never find myself inside an Akelius building ever again.

Steven Gerard: Two very good friends live in this Cambridge Apartment Complex. "LBJ" Has just undergone a MAJOR/Multi-million dollar remodeling. Great looking, energy efficient, "green" building.
