Ginsberg Academy BJJ: what do users think?
Carlos Sessa: great place for bjj!
Sarah Wasinger: Wonderful place to practice jiu jitsu whether you’re a beginner or advanced. Very nice, highly skilled training partners and a great friendly environment! Instruction is always top notch and safety is a priority
James Dunne: SUCH A WONDERFUL PLACE! I came from my first gym in Tucson and was nervous to try a new place. Ginsberg BJJ is AMAZING. Coach Dave is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely loves his students and his school. The other students were very welcoming and there is a good mix of total beginners and extremely skilled fighters. The space itself is beautiful and big and has a very authentic, no nonsense old school feel to it. Good vibes all around. Unfortunately I had to leave the gym for another move to the West Coast but I miss it already. I just came back from my first class trying out another local gym here and it was very good but it made me miss Ginsberg BJJ and realize what a special place it is. It motivated me to go write this review in appreciation. If you are local, call Coach Dave up and join, you will be happy you did!
Monta Wiley: Just recently I was in boston on vacation and had the opportunity to visit Ginsberg BJJ . After my recent experience, I can confirm that this gym does not deserve 5 Stars. In fact, IT DESERVES MORE THAN 5 STARS !! Everyone from the instructors to the students welcomed me, were very friendly, and gave me some awesome training while in town. Even let me borrow a gi, when I forgot mine haIf anyone is in the boston area and looking for a place to train, ginsberg jj is the place to be !!thank you everyone for the great time.
Matthew Bemis: Ginsberg Academy is an incredibly positive learning environment. Coach Dave prioritizes a welcoming and respectful culture and it shows with all the members of the gym. Beyond this, there's a lot of super talented athletes that you can learn from and train with. Coach Dave is one of the nicest people I've ever interacted with.
Ethan Gilbert: Amazing place to train. World class coaches and amazing training partners. Fun atmosphere, emphasis on safety and practicality, and great camaraderie. Would recommend to anyone.
kenny gatlin: Always a great time when visiting. Professor Dave is very knowledgeable and I never leave without getting taught something new or getting help on tightening up some techniques.
Zhenhuan Sun: Safe and friendly environment. The coach is very knowledgeable.
Katie Perez: This Academy is a true gem; Professor Dave is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable as well as kind and deeply caring towards his students. The instruction is top-notch and the energy is positive and focused; the rolls are fun, competitive and safe. There aren't really words for how great the Ginsberg Academy is but if I could give 10/5 stars I would
Rachel Beauchamp: Professor Dave has helped me improve my skill set each time I’ve visited his academy. He is extremely knowledgeable, checks in on your comfort and safety continuously throughout training and his gym is kept very clean.
Jaimerson Aguirre: Great experience great vibe from everyone especially Professor Dave, helped me work on my weaknesses and what to work on etc OSS!!
Chris Keller: I recently visited Ginsberg academy for a weekend of BJJ training, and it was an amazing experience. Professor Dave and his students were all so welcoming and willing to share their knowledge. It was a true privilege to work with such an incredible group of martial artists, and I’m eagerly looking forward to another chance to visit.
Tolik Zinovyev: Awesome coach and great clean gym! Training there is always a pleasure.
Brian Cutts: Got to visit Ginsberg's Academy this February for American Grappling Federation. I got the chance to stop in and personally be welcomed by the owner Dave. Dave has an impressive resume and represents some of the best BJJ here in Boston, be sure to check his gym out.
Vsevolod Tsodokov: This is an amazing place to come and learn jiu jitsu, train and to take your game to the next level. Dave, the head coach, is a bottomless well of knowledge, and an amazing trainer. All people I met there, without exceptions, are humble, friendly, and a pleasure to train with.Safety as also very high on everyone’s agenda there.Highly recommend to train there for all levels- from novices to professional atgeletes/bjj practitioners.
Charlie Liu: Their "Peaceful Dragons" program is the best kids martial arts class I've seen ever: I checked out first class with my 7 yr old last sunday and we'll be back: super fun and managed to teach BJJ basics in a very fun way, also very active and positive. David (besides being super friendly in general and expert at BJJ etc) is fantastic with engaging young kids at their level. Class was exercise packed for the kids and very well thought out to introduce/ sneak in lots of real skills (not just random games or useless things that look good) in an almost free play context--almost a "Montessori" approach to martial arts.
Isaac Godfried: I have been training at Ginsberg Academy off and on for more than 5 years. In the past two and a half years in particular it has become the place where I spend perhaps the greatest amount of my free time. While the quality of BJJ has always been top notch, I've also had the pleasure to see an increase in the number and types of classes. The academy now has BJJ classes 7 days per week and both Wrestling and Muay Thai classes. I frequently look forward to spending long nights at the academy where I get there around 6 for Muay Thai and stay late into the night rolling and chatting with teammates. However, even though the number of classes has increased the quality of instruction has not deteriorated. Unlike some gyms where purple belts teach many classes Professor Ginsberg still teaches the vast majority of BJJ classes (and the ones he doesn't teach are taught by other black or brown belts). The academy also takes safety and hygiene very seriously particularly with respect to COVID-19.
Ryan Miller: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismThe atmosphere at Ginsberg Academy is fantastic. Excellent instruction paired with friendly and kind people has made for an awesome transition from my old gym.
Alexander Rush: Positive:QualityI've trained at 8 academies in two cities and this one is by far the safest, thanks to Professor Ginsberg's oversight. If you want to get good at Jiu Jitsu, you don't want to get injured. Also, I've learned the most/fastest here.
James Larisch: I've been training here for ~3 years now. The staff (especially Dave Ginsberg) is fantastic, the environment is safe, clean, friendly, humble, and fun, and the jiu jitsu is top-notch. Honestly it's one of the best parts about living here. Great for both competitors and people looking for a workout.
Michael Wing: I've spent the last few months training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Ginsberg Academy and my experience has been nothing short of amazing.Professor Dave is a very skilled and friendly instructor that does his best to ensure students are training in a safe but engaging way. As a newer student, I have been extremely impressed with Dave's ability to foster a great learning and growth environment, where more senior students provide mentorship to newer students and developing students are encouraged to take on mentorship roles as they grow. The academy does its best to accommodate a wide range of schedules and learning styles. I feel like students are almost always training for hours after the formal class sessions, which is crucial for people who work pretty late, and instructors are always communicating the important details for techniques they're teaching so students are clear on why you perform a move a certain way, and not just how.I unfortunately had to move recently, but my time at Ginsberg Academy has me hooked on BJJ (I trained there 3-5 times/week and for sure plan to continue) and would 100% recommend that anyone looking to train BJJ/Judo/Wrestling/Muay Thai in the Boston area to go check it out!

American Martial Arts Center: what do users think?
Jake Bishop: Bobby and staff at AMAC are the best. Super friendly, kind, and driven to improve the lives of their students. I always had fun and learned something new every class I went to. Great way to get in shape and quickly learn self defense/Muay Thai.
Dat Do: Bobby, Victor, and Jason are all extremely knowledgeable in Muay Thai. Jason gives practical advice that comes from his experience as fighter in the ring. Bobby can spot the flaws in your movements from feet placement to shoulder work, and he will surely lead you down the right path towards Muay Thai mastery. Victor is the best as he demonstrates the realistic application of Muay Thai. The gym has a great vibe of comradeship as everyone there is genuinely interested in self-improvement and mastery of the Muay Thai craft.
Matthew Goldstone: I very much recommended the AMAC, great classes and instruction, students of all skill levels are welcome. During the current Covid times the necessary sanitation steps are taken each day to ensure a safe environment.
charles casella: Great Place to Learn MMA. PLUS.
Julio Rivera: Been going there for about a month now. I had never thrown a kick or punch in my life prior to this. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and the lead trainer Bobby knows his stuff you dont have to do anything you are not comfortable with and the gym itself is great
David Dybdal: I've been doing martial arts for 25 years now....and this place is the real deal. Bobby is second generation student of Bruce Lee (via Richard Bustillo). No goons, no attitude, no "cardio kickboxing" at AMAC....just a bunch of good people training hard together and learning. Bobby focuses on the details, whether it's thai boxing, Filipino weapons, grappling, or Jeet Kun Do, the focus is on getting the basics right, this is the stuff that will keep you alive, in the ring, or on the street. As a bonus, this same expertise and effective teaching method applies to the kids classes too. Using praise and encouragement, he gets the kids to learn and have fun. After watching the kids class, I took my 10 year old son in for a trial. He loved it! I signed him up without hesitation. Now we train together at home!Highly recommend giving this place a try!
Derrick Trotman: I've been studying martial arts at the store Joe sinks 1993 it has been the best experience of my life. Not only are able to get one on one attention through private classes, but the group sitting among the other students promotes fun, confidence, and a sense of achievement at the end of each class. Every day you can learn something new and apply what you learned the day before and weeks before.
Sergiu Merca: Awful place. Waste of time for the first "training" class
Andrew Harteveldt: Great place for adults and kids. Real community for all.
Gail Nault: I attended the Muay Thai class as well as the self defense (Jkd) class. This is a great school. I've been training for awhile and at multiple gyms. This place is the real deal. Great welcoming atmosphere and Bobby has a lot of knowledge to share. Muay Thai, eskrima, knives, hand trapping and more. They have it all. I was very impressed.
Tiana Gasparini: Bobby is a great teacher of MMA. Our kids have been going 3x/ week for the past few years and they love it.
Punnana Puapanich: I just had my kid taking the little dragon class. She's having fun and really working on her focus and discipline. Also we were at a kid's birthday party at AMAC and the kids had so much fun and learned a lot.
Yarinda Sar: I did the kickboxing bootcamp and it was a great workout!the instruction was excellent !they got me in great shape!
William R: Top notch martial arts and kickboxing center. Great instructors. Bobby Giordano is owner/instructor- great guy with tons of experience. Try it
Steve Tenhor: I've been practicing martial arts for 20 years and this the best place I've trained. Legit authentic Muay Thai and Bobby G. is a great instructor.
Georgina Spence: great instructors, great facility, great experience.
Jason: This place has become my second home. A+

Kimura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Boston: what do users think?
Luke B: Undoubtedly one of the best places I’ve ever trained. Trained at a lot of places and Kimura is absolutely trained. Coach Joe is a mentor to me 👊
Mohamed Jefri: great place, nice and humble people, very recommended
Guillaume C: This Brazilian jujitsu club is a rare gem.The teachers are extremely dedicated, friendly and pedagogues, they are present every day with 3 classes per day and extra weekend sessions with open mat. The atmosphere is excellent there, like in a big family; you will find what you are looking for from amateur to competitive practice. It's a real pleasure to train there and I wish I had found sooner!!!!!
Josh Tilles: Great place, excellent instructors. So I happy I found them.
J T: An excellent place to train! Kimura BJJ Boston has a large, clean facility, many excellent black belt instructors, and talented and friendly training partners. I'm a purple belt who travels a lot, and whenever I'm in Massachusetts I do my best to attend a class or two.
Bart Heilbron: Started BJJ @Kimura together with my 13-year old son about 6 months ago. Amazing experience, the best instructors, welcoming and respectful atmosphere. Great mix of all ages, body types, and higher and lower belts. The first couple of weeks were tough (especially for Daddy ;-) but now both of us regret and feel bad every we time we have to skip a training. Highly recommended for all ages and the best work out you will ever get anywhere.
Ja B: This is an amazing place to learn bjj! I came here with zero experience in wrestling and fell in love with it the first day, everyone here is great and wants you to succeed and pushes you to perform to the best of your ability. If you want to learn bjj I definitely recommend coming here.
Grace Mazzarella: My co-worker found out I tried BJJ before I moved down for a new job, and he recommended Kimura to me. I am so glad he did! The community is warm and welcoming, the instructors are thorough and patient, and those at a higher level are always happy to help out those of us with less experience.
Lucas Marchifrazier: Great instructors, amazing community. Everyone is very helpful to beginners and committed to their progression.
Michael Z: Great place, very friendly staff and great exercise for the kids
Jack P: I came to Kimura with 0 knowledge of any martial arts and was welcomed with open arms. Joe, along with the other trainers, are highly knowledgeable, patient and motivating; everything you’d want when learning something brand new. The folks I trained with were friendly and willing to help if you want to put in the work. For sure no egos here but definitely a competitive spirit which I loved. It’s hard to imagine how much I’ve learned in 6 months (still a lot more to learn) but I highly recommend Kimura for whichever level of BJJ you’re at. Also, mats + gym is very clean!
Keith Borgaro: My son and daughter, age 7 and 4, have been training at Kimura for the last 6 months and love it! The instructors are excellent and do a great job helping the kids develop the skills and self confidence needed to progress in the sport and everyday life. I’ve even started training here myself and love that we’re able to do this as a family. Highly recommend!!!
Isaac Carey: Writing as someone who as never trained in combat or even contact sports before. I spent my first month of BJJ training at Kimura in Watertown MA. I primary worry going into training BJJ was what was the learning atmosphere going to be like.Once I begin I quickly found Kimura to be a great place to learn. The black-belt instructors Joey Bell, Marbs, and Cormac are great. They clearly have there own games and different things to show you and they are approachable. I also found the community at Kimura to be great. A number of the purple and blue-belt student are down to earth and happy to train with you and help you develop. While the gym trains traditionally with belt hierarchy, I never felt looked down upon as a new white belt. I’m off to college in NY where I will train there but look forward to rejoining Kimura BJJ when I return to MA!
Priya Radhakrishnan: Great people and a great place to train BJJ for adults and a super place to sign up your kids! The culture and discipline at this place makes you want to come back and continue to train.
Keith Martin: I dropped in while I was in town for the month and the staff was amazing. They take the time to help each individual student based off of their needs. The classes are very informative and everyone there is very welcoming. If you are in the area and want to start jiu jitsu this is the place to go!
Cj Beck: So thankful to have joined such a great community. Everyone is there to help each other and I’m so happy to have signed up
Andreane: My 9 yo son has been learning BJJ for a year now and his progress is impressive. The masters are patient and kind. They are amazing with kids all age, always supportive and encouraging. Kids learn respect in all aspects, of their master, their peers and the sport. They are not just teammates, but a family too. They support each other as they train together. He has gain strength in his core as well as balance and tenacity. We are very happy that was welcomed in the Kimura BJJ family!
Hidden Gem: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismGreat staff who really care about you and are dedicated to teaching. Joe, Marb, and Cormac are top notch and treat you like family. I had to drop out due to my schedule but I will return the near future
Jesus Bonilla: Wonderful, Marvelous, Formidable, The Best Place to be All the Way Around.
Kristopher Reynolds: Kimura is a incredibly welcoming place. Everyone here looks after each other we train hard but have fun doing so. The instructions Marb and Joe are amazing and really pay attention. This is my first BJJ school and I am very glad that I have chosen kimura to start my BJJ journey I honestly do not think I could’ve chosen a better academy in the area. You won’t be disappointed here.
Delia Guo: Positive:Communication,Quality,ValueMy son loves this place and the instructors. They make the kids program fun while learning new drills and moves.

Bernardo Faria Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy: what do users think?
Magno Alves: I had the pleasure of getting to know the academy of the great champion Bernardo Faria. In addition to the academy being impeccable and classes with great technique Bernardo has a simplicity inside and outside the tatame. Thank you. Oss!
T S: Just had the pleasure of dropping into a class and open mat today. I had a wonderful experience training with a lot of high-level people. Marcos was very welcoming and gladly smashed me in the nicest way possible. Great school, great people, and hard training!
Adam Fisher: The Bernardo Faria Academy provides the best jiu jitsu training available. Coach Marcos heads up the best coaching and teaching I've ever had the good fortune of learning from. Additionally the mats and facility are clean and the staff and community are reasons why my training has become the most meaningful part of my day.
Jason Parks: Simply the best.
Daniel Hirsch: I started training at Bernardo’s a few months after it’s opening and can tell you the person you see on the instructional is exactly the same in real life. His explanation of technique, breakdown of position, as well as stories and sense of humor make retention easier. The gym atmosphere is welcoming and positivise, and younever know what surprise guest may walk through the door.Besides Bernardo all other instructors have been amazing as well. From Matheus Gonzaga, to Giancarlo Bodoni, and most recently Marcos Tinoco the instruction is always world class and consistently top shelf.I most recently had a private with Marcos Tinoco and within an hour I had corrected some bad habits that have been holding back pieces of my game for years. He not only shared some of his philosophy on creating connection but was able to break down my particular style and give me focused solutions to holes in my game.I highly recommend doing a private class with Marcos Tinoco and then staying for class after to implement the new tools in your arsenal.I also highly recommend training at the Bernardo Faria Academy besides the advantages of improving your Jiu Jitsu, the Academy will also improve your overall mood.
GracieFighter Presque Isle: Thank you for the drop in. Outstanding Academy.
Don Young: Got your fundamentals instructionals from BJJ Fanatics. This has really helped me to begin to understand BJJ and I've been using it on the mats to speed progression. Bernardo is a great instructor! Another thing, thank you for not being greedy. These instructionals didn't break my bank account and are worth much more than I paid. Oss!
nathan slone: Dropped in to train while traveling for work. Great group of guys. Very knowledgeable coach. Very fun place to train
Scott Pilote: All of the professors at BFA are amazing and really make you feel like family. Great for kids and adults!
Jack Press: Deep knowledge of jiu jitsu, friendly, welcoming and overall culture is great
Chad Williams: I was in the Boston area from the Dallas Ft. Worth Texas area for vacation and went and trained at Bernardo Faria’s gym for a workout. I felt welcomed from the second I walked into the gym. The staff, instructors and students were very welcoming and very helpful. The class was led by Marcos Tinoco. Marcos even took the time to give me a pointer about a technique I was doing. Judging by the way the students/members rolled, I’d have to say it is the best technically sound gym I’ve been to.Chad Williams
Jonathan Smith: Coach Marcos Tinoco is the best of the best. He holds students to account while also keeping the room light and fun. It has been monumental in my development as a jiu jitsu practitioner to have a world-class accomplished grappler like Coach Marcos tell me I am capable of achieving fluency in this incredibly dense sport, and providing timely advice on what to do to get there. I pass by 5 other BJJ schools just to come here because of the quality of the classes and the great atmosphere.
Sydney Hoiseth: Amazing professors and amazing gym culture, just a joy to train at BFAs
Chris Fitzgerald: Of course all can see the up front face of the school is the great instructors, facility, and top notch classes, but behind the scenes is often over looked.I had kind of a wierd job issue that kept me away from training and failed to really mention it, till a year later. When I did...Rayra said "No problem, we wondered were you've been, I'll stop charging your credit card now, and you have one year credit when you return."WOW! Now that's customer service!
Jon Morgan: I got the opportunity to come to Bernardo Faria Jiu Jitsu and work out with a class led my Marcos Tinoco. Bernardo was there as well. Amazing class that turned out to be a terrific workout. The instruction was detailed and patient and Marcos was very encouraging. The other students and instructors were very welcoming as well. I got to see a kids class before and they were having a blast. I will be traveling to the Boston area often and will definitely be back.
Tom Malone: Our son (age 9) has had a wonderful experience there this year. Supportive and kind teachers, super clean facility, valuable skills taught, and a great workout.
Sam Schweizer: My daughter has been attending Bernardo Faria BJJ Academy for a few months and it's one of the highlights of our week. She gets so much pride and sense of accomplishment from attending the classes. My impression is that the coaching is excellent, and the kids have a fun, structured time. And oh by the way, they end up learning some really great Jiu Jitsu from knowledgeable and welcoming coaches.
Rob Reutzel: Easily the best academy I have ever trained at. The community is encouraging and the instructors are world class. I highly recommend Bernardo's school.
Matt Giusti: Marcos and Hana create a welcoming environment where everyone is treated respectfully regardless of age, physical condition and experience. An extremely supportive and positive atmosphere every class.
Roger Li: I’ve gone just to three classes, and it’s been very good. The free trial class captures low hanging fruit, like how to fall correctly and stand up effectively. Then, when you start doing the “real” class, they walk you through and make sure you get it, for beginners like me. It seems this place has only 5 star reviews except for two people with the same complaint. Idk who that bad staff member is but so far everyone their has been nice. Hopefully they can root out whatever problem that was
Joe Holmes: Bernardo and team have figured out the winning formula: world-class instruction (even for hobbyists), a great culture, and clean facilities. Additionally, the kids program is fun and teaches life skills in addition to jiu jitsu. If my knees agree with me, I will be a long-time member.
