The lining had dry rotted and I really didn't want to buy a generic shade; I wanted mine restored. Concord replaced the lining and it looks brand new. Amazing that they could do this. Any future work is definitely going to Concord.

It's a small shop and full of lamps and shades, but they can order custom made shades too. The clerk was very pleasant even with a store full of people waiting on a Saturday. The price was right, and as a result of the new shade, the room where we put the lamp has taken on a completely new, very special appearance. We could not be happier with the help we received and the shade that we purchased. (Considerable thought had gone into this shop's COVID precautions, and they ended up working very effectively. We had the shop to ourselves for 15 minutes!)

I brought in a classic Baldwin that wanted a very unique shade indeed and Harry took the time to not only find me an unusual and perfect shallow shade, but also offered an alternative to the overly-long spire that came with the piece, giving me a shorter piece that put the shade in just exactly the right place. All on the Saturday before Christmas!The recipient of this gift liked it so well she wanted a picture even before the plastic came off the shade. Harry (the owner) was more interested in joking and talking than in repairing. He finally said I should go to Fun Antiques in Cambridge: "It's where I go when I can't fix something." Then he dropped the irreplaceable hand-blown cased glass lamp base on the floor.I picked up what I could and went to Fun Antiques as suggested. They referred me on to Restoration Services in Arlington, who can apparently work miracles with broken glass. They sent me back to Harry to retrieve any small bits of glass still there. That's when it got ... hairy.Initially Harry said he'd pay for it. So when I went back I said I'd send him the bill from Restoration Services. "How much?", he asked. Don't know. "Then I'll repair it." Harry, you break things, I don't trust you to repair anything. I turned and left and his wife screamed, "HARRY!" because he was running after me. I turned and he threatened me to beat me up.I left (with the few pieces they had managed to salvage). Total cost? In the hundreds of dollars, all down to the owner of this shop.DO. NOT. SHOP. HERE.

Thomas Best: Great Mom & Pop storefront business. Many shades in stock plus table lamps for sake, but the owner fixed a broken floor lamp I brought in while I waited and then sold me a new shade to replace the old one. Great neighborhood shop.

Elizabeth Bolton: Good lamp stores are more and more difficult to find nowadays. Lamp & Shade Gallery on Belmont Street on the Watertown - Belmont line is a great place to know about. They have an extensive selection of shades, they sell lamps, and they do repairs. We've bought shades from them and have had several lamps repaired. My sense is that if they don't have what you want that they'll do their best to get it for you. The owners are super helpful and charming - it's a pleasure to do business with them. Highly recommend.

From that greeting to my walking out the door, (completely satisfied), with my odd size lamp shades in hand took less then ten minutes.This Lighting show room has a large number of odd size, hard to find shades and lamps and fixtures as well. Service like this you will not get in a Box store. I recommend looking here first, and saving a lot of time and money. The oversize shade was three hundred less here then in the Box store, and in stock!

Vanessa Buytaert: Charles and team at Lighting & Lamps were helpful and easy to work with. I called looking for a specific chandelier that had to be custom made. Charles asked all the right questions to ensure we would receive the fixture we were looking to hang in our newly renovated home. Charles even found the exact light bulbs that the manufacturer displays the chandelier with, but doesn't sell them. I would call them again for all of our lighting needs.

JG: If you're looking for lamp shades, this is THE store in the greater Boston area to go to. Don't waste your time elsewhere. I went to seven other stores before driving from Gloucester to find this gem and it was worth it. Their customer service is impeccable: they know their business, make great suggestions, are very efficient and pleasant to work with. I'll be back the next time I'm in need of lighting or shades.

I had come into a lovely European chandelier with slightly wider than the standard US candle “sockets. I needed the tube like fittings to go around them.and they my were only to be found in Europe.The gentleman has been in business for 50 years, and stuck with me and we came up with some solutions. Made some calls - really the kind of courtesy and attention that comes from expertise knowledge and personal commitment to what you are doing and the people you are working with. I was sent home with candle sleeves to work with ( at no cost) and a clear long term solution if some experimentation didn’t work out.Our experiment worked!!! So I’m thrilled I’m not ordering $100 /shipping or more for what is a .50 item standard here,The lighting he carries in the store is good quality and variety. You WILL find what you are looking for, and for reasonable costs. Ranging from chandeliers to floor lamps ( which I think are the best thing ever right now) to interesting and good quality table lamps.Don’t even bother with the big stores - waste of time. Go here! I’ll be back.
