Winni Chen: Yin and her assistant for the day, Kettia, both did an amazing job for my wedding in March! Because I had myself, 5 bridesmaids, and 2 moms getting both hair and makeup each, an extra person was needed for all the services. They were so friendly, positive, and personable, and really made the each of us feel and look so beautiful. None of us really wear makeup day-to-day so we opted for some more natural looking makeup and they both delivered!! My mom had a bad experience with a different HMUA for another wedding a few months back and she knew she did not want anything nearly as extreme as what she got before… my mom looked GREAT for my wedding and loved her look so much and felt much more confident! Fortunately, I had an awesome trial with Yin already in June 2022 so I knew to expect nothing but the best. Some slight tweaks were made between the trial and actual wedding day but it worked out perfectly because my wedding day was drizzly and gloomy and Yin (who did both my hair and makeup) accounted for that and how it would look in pictures. I recommended Yin to one of my bridesmaids after my trial for her own wedding and I’m lucky enough to experience her magic again in the next month! In the past, I unfortunately found the wrong people and which led to poor makeup and hair service experiences for my complexion and hair (I'm Asian), that made me not look like me. In addition, two of my bridesmaids are black and I needed someone who knew how to work with black hair, that I could entrust my friend's hair to. I was nervous about finding someone who could be sensitive to these anxieties. I told this to Yin and she was promptly on it- she sent contact information for Kettia so my bridesmaid could talk to her one-on-one about what she wanted and how she needed to prepare her hair. She did both my engagement photoshoot (in Feb 2022) and for the wedding (July 2022 - hot) (of course we did 2 trial runs due to COVID delays). We have a total of 24 services for 5 flower girls and 8 adults. Yin created a schedule to allow all of us to be ready but not have to wait too long (she came with 2 other make-up stylists).My bridal party had a mix of white (Irish), Indian, Thai, Chinese and of course a lot of mixed race flower girls - Yin and her team simply made us look “naturally” beautiful.She stayed with me all day and into the evening to provide touch up services during the photoshoot post ceremony, prior to the reception and a change of hairstyle to get into the dancing/party spirit. Charlotte Bidgood: I will start with the positive:The independent artists who LSB works with are great. I was very happy with my wedding day hair and makeup. Amy for hair and Julia for makeup were a delight and I would work independently with them again in a heartbeat.Unfortunately several things did not go well in the lead up to the wedding. If you are a detail oriented and proactive planner bride, I would look elsewhere.-I had two no-shows / last-minute cancellations by artists, one for my trial and one for my actual wedding. My make up artist apparently had COVID twice in a span of a few months.. once in May for my trial and again in July for the wedding…Both cancellations were last minute (which I fully appreciate is the nature of COVID, but I am left questioning if both of these were real…) You have to go to the studio for the trial. Their studio is in Boston which is not local for me - several hours away - and I had an early trial on Sunday, so we drove up on Saturday to stay the night. I received word about cancellation at 10pm that night when we were already in the hotel getting ready for bed. I then had to take another day off of work and trek up to Boston again to redo the trial.The second cancellation happened on Thursday right before my Saturday wedding. I am not a “makeup person” and have super sensitive skin and was very nervous about the whole process. None of those notes got passed to the new artist who ended up attending my wedding day. Again - it ultimately was fine!! - but an incredibly frustrating lead up.-Difficulties with bridal party scheduling. LSB refuses to discuss scheduling with you until 2 weeks out. I asked a few times but they would not budge. When they finally made the schedule two weeks out there were several mistakes so I ended up re-doing it and going off of my own schedule on the day-of anyway.-Difficulties with communication. LSB only communicates through their portal which requires a link and a log on every time. You can’t simply email, call, or text as you can with all other wedding vendors (in my experience)- There we’re a couple times when I had to wait a several days for a response, meanwhile I would see LSB posting constantly on her instagram. Again - frustrating and unlike the prompt responses I received from all other vendors.Services:Hairstyling,Eyelash enhancements,Permanent lip makeup
