Mt Auburn Memorials Inc: what do users think?
Aud Hart: Ridiculously slow response. I drove by the business and called about a stone I saw displayed. The first return call was immediate, and I sent cemetery rules, and sizes to make sure the stone conformed. A week later I heard the stone I chose did not conform, a week later I was told that the cemetery needs to call the monument company back, two weeks later I am not getting any response. Waste of my time and I still don't have a stone.
Phoebe Cusack: UPDATE: From the time I placed the call to the day I got a phone call saying it was done was 1 month. I called, they sent me drawings, I signed and send them back with a check, and a few weeks later I got a very polite call saying the engraving was done. No hassle, great service. Five stars.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Everything the previous reviewer said about email and website is true. These guys are an old fashioned outlet. That said, they are honest and easy to work with. They did a stone and engraving for my mother at Mt. Auburn in 2010 and are currently doing an engraving for my father at City of Cambridge. They sent out an exact drawing of the engraving for approval and made sure they got the type face and lettering exactly how I wanted it. For my father, they are going to match the names of his parents on the existing stone. David is kind and straightforward. I called today and he said he'd go out and look at the stone to match it tomorrow, then send the drawing. I do remember it taking a long time with my mother, just like the other reviewer said, but to me it wasn't a problem, the dead are not in a hurry. I thought they were nice and easy to work with, so I recommend them.
Pat C: This company was recommended by Cambridge Cemetery Department, since it is right across the street. It is very 1950 low-tech - No Email, no website, had to snail mail the engraving stencils for approval, which took 2 rounds before getting it correct. Then, after sending approval for the etching design and full payment, I am still waiting for the stone to be engraved after 6 weeks. If you are considering using them for a loved one's headstone work, please look elsewhere and save yourself some heartache and disappointment. At the least, hire a company that has a web site and uses Email. I intend to contact the City of Cambridge and describe my experience, suggesting they no longer recommend this company to their customers.

W C Canniff & Sons Inc: what do users think?
Michael Benion: Excellent customer service...
Nadia Baby: I WISH I had read the reviews before even SPEAKING to this out of order walking hearing aid of a man. Eddie says He is the owner so he is to be held responsible for everything everyone has said before me, but also please don’t even bother dialing if you expect empathy forget even being treated like a human, let alone a grieving one. I could never associate this location with anything memorisable or meaningful in my life & I hope even one person is saved from what I was put through.
Marlyn F: I went in with my mother to purchase a headstone for my grandmother. Ed, who is part owner was very understanding and had tons of patience as I had to translate many things for my mother for her to fully understand the process, price, etc from start to finish. He showed us all the options we could choose from in the gallery (size, color, stone type, font etc), drew beautiful sketches and made wonderful recommendations that helped stayed within our budget. In the end once headstone was paid for, it took about a month or two for us to get the call that it was completed (which I think was pretty quick as this was during covid/quarantine). Fast forward to now, my grandfather passed away a few months ago and it was an easy phone call to Canniff & Sons to ask for them to add his date of passing, stopped by to pay for it and it was done in two weeks. Overall, they were very professional and reasonable if you take the time and not rush out the door. I would definitely recommend ! Support a Local Business that's been there for years :)
Latoya Luc: "Owner Eddie" should "RETIRE" asap, YOUR TIME IS UP BUDDY!!! First off he needs a "Hearing Aid", Second he gets very rude and ignorant towards customers who are PAYING for a service. I explained what I was looking for and he rudely stated " I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING UNTIL I GET PAID". This was my first encounter with this place. My mom used them years ago for my" oldest brother" headstone -plot which was a hot mess done by CANNIFF. Then my "second brother" passed on but his name was never engraved, so now that I am able to add his name on it, I WILL GO ELSEWHERE! This man ego has really gone to his head. YOU WOULD BE A FOOL TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. "WOODLAWN MEMORIALS HAS GREAT REVIEWS WHICH I WILL USE THEIR SERVICES. There are so many great monument companies in Boston to pick from with awesome customer service and will help with ease and patience instead of getting frustrated because they cannot hear nor spell.
Meron Lavie: My father and mother shared a single headstone. When they added my father's name, they misspelled the last name (my parents had the same last name - so they even had an example how to spell it). When contacted, the owner was rude, tried to deny responsibility, then only wanted to fix it (impossible to add on the missing final letter, because it was followed by a comma and "MD"). Only under threat did he agree to to replace. So they promised they'd replace it in under 6 weeks. After a year long business stationing abroad, I return only to see no replacement. So I call again - the man who handled me was rude, argumentative, lazy, annoying, and simply responded "that he'll research the subject".Need I say more?
michael goldrick: Very helpful great family, amazing secretary. 🌴
Rosa R: The only reason I gave this place 1 star is because I can't post a review without choosing at least one star...I HAD TO GO TO THE POLICE STATION TO FILE A POLICE REPORT AGAINST THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT BECAUSE HE ENCOURAGED AND ALLOWED A FAMILY MEMBER TO FORGE MY NAME IN ORDER FOR HIM TO GET A QUICK SALE!!!! THE DEED TO MY MOTHERS GRAVE IS IN MY NAME BUT HE ALLOWED SOMEONE ELSE TO SIGN MY NAME WITH NO PERMISSION AND WITHOUT GIVING ME A CHANCE TO COME IN TO SIGN FOR MYSELF. WHEN I CALLED TO SPEAK TO HIM HE WAS BEYOND DISRESPECTFUL...KEPT HANGING UP ON ME AND EVERYTIME I TRIED TO SPEAK HE KEPT SAYING BLAH BLAH BLAH OVER ME. ON TOP OF EVERYTHING HE GOT MY.MOMS BIRTH AND DEATH DATES WRONG ON THE STONE!! DO NOT USE EDWARD CANNIFF FOR YOUR GRAVE STONE NEEDS.
David R: The worst place to do business with just call from out of state to make a partial payment for headstone and one of the OWNERS Eddie answers with the worst attitude that anyone can have hes rude and extremely disrespectful and he's excuses was that they are very busy, and to top it all he wrote the all the information from the credit card. Won't recommend this place to anyone. Nothing but rudness👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Sandra Jackson: We checked past reviews before going there and decided to go anyhow…the place was old but had tons of stones to look at, Ed was personable, took his time with us, drew up a sketch , so far we are very pleased with his service….If you take time to listen to him he has some great stories of his military life! He’s had an interesting life! In spite of our grieving, we left there feeling good about our purchase!
Savannah Gardiner: Bought my brother's head stone and my mother's from here.
Jan Breadmore: Thanks Ed, for guiding us through this very important part of our lives. You were more than helpful.
Andrew Klimoff: This is the best monument making company in Massachusetts...
Dorothy Belton: I went to Canniff to purchase a headstone for my Mom. There was a large variety of styles and colors to choose from. My sister and I choose a beautiful black granite piece with a carved raised rose. Mr. Edward Canniff Jr. was very professional, informative, and made our experience personable.
Calvin Boykins: Courteous establishment
Charles D: Very rude and unprofessional; made payment for services 2 months ago. Payment was deducted from my account but service still has not been completed. Terrible business man.
Liesa Healy-Miller: Rude and nasty owner at Roslindale location. I wanted to take pics of headstone designs, so I could go home and think about it...because who knows what they want on the spot?! As soon as he realized I wasn’t purchasing immediately, he hustled me out the door. When I called back and told him I didn’t like how I was treated, he hung up on me. Take your business elsewhere!
christopher njoku-moser: I spoke to the gentleman and he was very rude, hard of hearing, and unhelpful
H S: Visited this monument maker to get an estimate for a memorial/ headstone. The work they do is beautiful and the craftsmanship is excellent, however, found it to be a little overpriced. They don't have a set price for the stone. You are asked what you are looking to have on the headstone. They do a hand sketch of your choices, show you similar pictures of work they've done before and then give you the hefty price. Over $6,000 estimate.
Deborah Reed: Rude RUde unprofesdional. Old ownerNo customer service at all Rate 0 clean 0 office appearance 0 owner 0
JEn Darling: horrible service
Shaunea Tavares: The salesman was very rude, he had no patience to explain to me the process or prices. He let me know he had no patience for me along with telling me to go somewhere else cause he assumed I couldn't afford their prices Instead of listening to what I needed and answering the questions I had. Nice monuments but horrible service. I do not recommend this place. We are grieving enough with the lost of a loved one we don't need disrespect on top of it. His name was ed by the way an older man...

Deveney & White Monuments: what do users think?
Manuel Andrade: Great people it was a trying and difficult time for my Family. It was a long wait to get this done which made it challenging and frustrating. But I must say there effort despite all the restrictions on supply and demand by Elizabeth was appreciated reaching out to meand offer apologizes and personally acknowledging it took way to long meant a lot and they made it rightBy adjusting the cost of the work. A side of the Waite it was well worth it my Father has a great headstone for a great Man. Pictures to followThank youManuel Andrade
Glynis Ilyas: Selecting a headstone for your mother is never an easy task. However, it's a task that is indeed necessary for individuals blessed to be able to do so. I experienced a double blessings, the second of which was meeting Elizabeth. She helped facilitate a smooth process with understanding, patience, empathy, and most importantly, extreme kindness. I'll never forget my visit to Deveney & White, because it was not what Elizabeth did but rather how I felt afterwards, which was one step closer to healing my broken heart. Thank you for making a conscious decision to be thoughtful. ❤️
Glynis B. Ilyas Consulting Services: Update: My mother's headstone was installed, and it was better than I could ever have imagined. It's been three years since her transition, and her stone was placed in time for my family and I to visit, give praise to The Most High, and celebrate her beautiful spirit. A job well done for a life well-lived. Thank you!🙏🏽❤️
Catherine Tamborino: I wanted to take the time to thank you for the compassion and professionalism you have shown in assisting me, during this stressful time, to secure a monument. It is deeply appreciated!
Pauline Ivas: Sincere thanks to the staff for getting sons' stone in place, tmely and efficient; could not be happier with the quality of workmanship, stone itself is beautiful; Deveney & White, par excellence.
Ellen Strickland: The consult was easy despite my grief. The stone came out even better than I had envisioned. And the delivery was timely. I am so pleased.
Chris Foley: I ordered my husbands headstone here on Aug 2nd and it is still not on his grave yet. That is the only negative thing I have to say. The employees are wonderful the workmanship is marvelous. I just can't wait to see it at the grave so my husband is properly honored.
Sara Norris: I never post reviews, but I was so pleased with the work that Deveney & White did for my family, that I wanted to share. The entire process from start to finish was handled attentively and responsively. My family was thrilled with the detailed craftsmanship of the monument and appreciated for the tremendous effort it took to deliver it in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend this professional, family-owned company for anyone looking to purchase a monument.
Brian Frazier: Excellent experience selecting a monument. Friendly and professional staff. Very clean and well-maintained building with a beautiful selection of granites. This company does the best work in the area.
Buddy Boy: I spent 5 minutes filling out a quote request on their website but no one contacted me about it. Do not waste your time with this company.

Woodlawn Memorials Inc: what do users think?
Elaine Paro: I wish I could give David a 10 star review for the compasion and caring that is given. It was such a good feeling to feel so cared about
Leanne Rich: Much thanks to David and the Defilippo family for the beautiful headstone for my parents. They were very accommodating, professional and showed compassion during a difficult time for our family. They were very easy to work with and delivered our headstone in a timely manner and the workmanship was impeccable. I would highly recommend Woodlawn memorials and would not consider going anywhere else.
J P: My family had a headstone done by them, and we wish we left this place as soon as we ran into strange repeated non-responses from Terri. Ended up with extremely frustrating process and disappointing result. If that guy Gary still works there: avoid your headstone being done by him or you will end up with some sloppy low quality piece. Gary's work is nothing like their pictures or their showroom - all of that had been probably done by Arthur long time ago. Save yourself the troubles, frustration, and disappointment - avoid this place.Update in response to David (co-owner): My advice to every customer of this business - if you don't like the headstone they made, take your money and leave, they will not do it any better second time. Unfortunately we agreed on redoing. Gary corrected one mistake, but made a mess of everything else. We dealt with David (the only one of 5 co-owners who seemed capable to communicate with customers) and he made a lot of promises and gave many assurances. He promised to be there on the day we came to see the redone headstone. He was not there, I think deliberately. When I was looking with frustration on Gary's sloppy "masterpiece" and tried to explain my concerns, David's mother (another co-owner) basically told me how dare I, and how unreasonable I am being. I tried to talk to Gary about possible corrections, he was rude and dismissive. And David "the nice guy" just wasn't there... I regret ever dealing with this company and believing what David was telling us.
John Michael Jones: I had a stone made for my father-in-law & from day one, the ladies in the front office were so compassionate and helpful. I'll never wrap my head around how anyone could "EVER" leave this place a negative review. David (the man who made the photo for our stone) is a borderline SAINT! I've never met a more gentle, attentive, understanding, patient man in my life. A man that no matter what time it was, he always responded to my endless questions. Sometimes I would email him at midnight & receive an answer in minutes! One time he answered me at 1am!!!! WHO DOES THIS ANYMORE? WELL, HE DOES. I wish I had a dollar for every time he would say, "Please don't apologize, it's my job & what I'm here for." From the very moment I walked through Woodlawn's door they went above and beyond to make a stressful situation feel so much better. They never once pressed for payment nor rushed the process. They did everything in their power to make us feel welcome and at ease & i can't tell you how much this was appreciated. I was stunned at how you guys literally took care of EVERYTHING & I get choked up thinking back on all they've done for our family. From the installation of the stone all the way to applying the photograph. You did it all & I can't thank you enough! It's crazy when I think about it because being from Charlestown, as far back as I can remember, Woodlawn Memorials has been the place everyone used & now that I was in the position of needing their services, I understand why this has always been the place everyone depended upon to honor their loved ones. A business that's survived the test of time like Woodlawn has, speaks volumes & is a true testament to the quality of services they provide. I want to end with just saying THANK YOU WOODLAWN. Thank you for being you & thank you for helping our family. Thank you for the endless years of outstanding service to our communities & for never losing that special touch that sets you apart from all the rest. I'll never forget walking through your doors for the first time needing your help. I was so lost & didn't know nor understand the process. But you guys made it so easy. No matter how busy you guys were, which was every time I walked through your doors, you stopped everything you were doing & made sure I was taken care of. You literally held my hand & guided me every step of the way. You have no idea how you've helped turn a terrible situation into one I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Your compassion and empathy was/is infectious & I'll never forget any of you for all you've done. God bless all of you at Woodlawn Memorials! I thank you & the Barrios family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts! I sure do pray you guys are still around when it's my time to go because it sure would be comforting to know my family will have you guys to turn to. 🙏
John H.: David and the folks at Woodlawn Memorials, Inc. in Everett, MA are true professionals who approach their craft with compassion and extreme patience in a time when their customers are going through personal grief. David and everyone at Woodlawn Memorials took the time to understand what we wanted to ensure the headstone for our loved one was done to perfection; that's a trait not commonly found today. Once designed, their craftmanship of the headstone was top-notch.Purchasing a headstone for a loved one is one of those life experiences none of us wants to make, but inevitably may find ourselves having to make. Woodlawn Memorials, Inc in Everett, MA will help you navigate the process in a compassionate and respectful way that will honor your loved one. I will conclude this review by saying I know Woodlawn Memorials, Inc. supports their community, many times without any acknowledgement or fanfare of their donations. They are a local, family-owned business. If you find yourself having to purchase a headstone, do yourself a favor and give Woodlawn Memorials, Inc. a call.
Tony: My mother and I went to Woodlawn so she could pick out her own memorial. Several other family members did so in the past, and my mom wanted to also for piece of mind. Not only were the 2 office women (including Terri) very helpful, so was David. They all were very easy to talk to, walked my mom and I through the process, and kept in constant communication during delivery. (She ordered a hard to find, Red Angel design.) And, as mom's monument was installed next my sister's (past), it looked amazing. David then proceeded to clean my sister's stone of many years of weathering, free of charge to its original natural beauty! This act of kindness brought my mom to tears (in a good way!). So would I recommend WMI? Are you kidding me? YES!! For their customer service, communication, selection and pricing alone, YES. So I say don't waste your time going anywhere else, stay local with them, and you will not be disappointed!
LynnMarie Hadaway: I am leaving this review so people know what an outstanding job David at Woodlawn Memorials has done for me and my late husband's family. He made 2 of the most perfect most beautiful headstones. He worked with me on the design and was very patient when I needed to make changes. I can't say enough good things about David or his business. If I could have given 10 stars I would have without hesitation. David is fair, patient and compassionate. He takes pride in his work and makes sure craftsmanship is done to perfection. If its not right he will make it right. He is definitely a man who keeps his word and delivers what he promises. I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to David for caring so much about how much this meant to me and the closure it has brought to myself and the family. You are a Rockstar David in the monument world for sure. You make this world a better place and the work you do, the service you give is impeccable. Sending a huge hug of gratitude long distance. I'm so pleased with my experience and the service I've received.
Nathan Silveira: Woodlawn Memorials is amazing! We unfortunately had to wait a few extra months because the stone came from India, but Woodlawn could not have been more professional throughout the entire process and kept us posted every step along the way. Although we experienced shipment issues because of COVID, Woodlawn received the stone on 12/15 and installed it the following day in 12/16. Losing a loved one is the most difficult thing to go through but Woodlawn Memorials understood how important the stone was to us and provided us with an amazing experience.
Carol Ann Demetrio: I highly recommend Woodlawn Memorials for all your memorial needs! It was a pleasure working with David Difilippo! They did a beautiful job with my best friend's plaque and also my parent's gravestone. David even remembered my Dad when he ordered the stone for my Mom back in 2005! I will definitely go there for all of our family's future memorial needs.
Priscilla O,Brien: Never a place anyone wants to go to but I can honestly say what wonderful women to deal with. Honest and so sympathetic you actually leave feeling like your leaving a new friend. The inventory they have in stock is beautiful- unique and so fairly pricedI hope never to have to go back but with life you do have to deal with the death of over one's and I know I will be back
Lillian Castaneda: They put my stepmother to rest beautifully.
Dorothy Dineen: We just left there and I have to say Terri was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend going here for your memorial needs.
RayTrain: Terri is wonderful!, we were running late and called and she offered to wait for us even though we would be arriving shortly after closing.
Joshua Vicente: Got my dad's stone here Great value with even better people
David Shulman: The owner David DeFilippo became aware of a problem with my order. He turned a very disappointing situation into an exceptional customer service experience. He went above and beyond to resolve the issue and expedite the production and installation of the memorial marker.
navi david: With little luck from other companies, woodlawn memorial really came through. I had an idea of what I wanted on my family's headstone and as much as I wanted to fit on the front was a challenge to say the least. Not only was David compassionate and patient throughout the entire process, him and his artist helped my vision come to life. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to memorialize my mom and my two brothers. Thank you for everything.
Mike Grana: Purchased my grandmother’s stone, and could not have chosen a better place to do so . The employees were so compassionate, helpful and knowledgeable. They communicated with me every step of the way, right up until the stone came in. It far exceeded my expectations, it is stunning ! We could not be happier.
Arthur Page: They did a magnificent job on our headstone the picture is so life like thank you very much David and everyone else who was involved in making such a beautiful headstone
E Abruzze: Fantastic work and a very helpful staff.I would recommend them to anyone.
John Buonomo: They went above and beyond to accommodate my family. Outstanding professional service. A multi generational family business, run with care, compassion and pride.
Kate Donovan: The ladies who work in the office at Woodlawn Memorial are just lovely. Clearly the both have years of friendship between them and their love for each other shows. They both approach each interaction with empathy and patience to help make difficult decisions easier which is so appreciated. They company also gives back to the community which in this day and age is nice to see. Walking into the building is like going back in time with the decor and open fireplace which feels nostalgic. Tip: they do not accept credit cards so be prepared with cash or check

Beth Redmond Walsh: The monument is a great landmark to use for people trying to find each other in Harvard Square. Its right in the middle of the Cambridge Commons. The commons itself is lovely any time of the year. Being a large space you can walk around on the paths or sit on the grass and maintain socially distanced walks and outings with friends. Nice for picnics, too (there are plenty of benches scattered around the park) and you may even run across a few folks making music.

Maureen McDonough Renaud: A. Monte Granite came through for our family at a very difficult time. We had never done business with them, and did not buy an expensive stone. We just needed my mother's name and dates added to our Dad's stone. When our Mother passed recently, We found the business we had made arrangements with when our Dad passed, was no longer in business. Monti Granite did the lettering, which was promised by spring. It was done beautifully, and just in time for her birthday in February. Under promised/Over delivered. Thanks Monti Granite. -The McDonough Family

Mike: I went to the store asking for a flush marker to be made and was told that I would get email in a week about the design. After two weeks I never heard anything, no email. when I called to check, he did not sound very happy or eager to help, but told me that I would get email in a week, after a week, I called again, he does not seem happy! I called again after few days not hearing anything from them, this time he suggests that if he can not get to the job in time he will cancel the job, nor did he give me a time line! he did not give me the impression that he cares about the job, nor did he give me a real time line that I can hear from them!!
Michelle Kelly: Dennis and the other guys at New England Monument were lovely to work with in regards to our mother’s memorial bench. Thanks, Dennis!
Karyn Girouard: I highly recommend New England Monuments for cemetery monuments and markers. Dennis is extremely professional, knowledgable, and caring. He has gone above and beyond to make sure our family monument and our loved one's marker are maintained properly after some mishaps.
Aída Ciro: Excellent customer service. Very thoughtful. Great ethics. Emotional experience. Thank you
Chris G (CG): Dennis provides great service explains all your options precisely and you don't pay until you sign off on everything regarding your Memorial stone.
Chris Ballou: Mr. Deveney is a real professional in the monument business. He knew I was a little uncomfortable with idea of buying a moument for my Father as I was very close with my Father and I miss him very much and I have been able to put him out of my mind and talking about him and what kind of stone monument was upsetting me. Denise recognized that I was having a problem calmed me down and within 15 MINUTES we had made good progress in what type of stone I wanted and the words That would be the one s my Dad would have liked.
Alex Zatsman: Did a perfect job for us -- definitely recommend them.
Tasha Ochieng: I reached out to New England Monuments for my mother's headstone after not getting anywhere speaking with a few different monument companies. Ryan was a pleasure to work with from the very beginning. He was responsive, understanding, knowledgeable, and straight to the point. I live out of state so it was a little harder. I can by far say I'm so glad I came across this business. They did an excellent job and the speed was quicker than anticipated which was not their normal but worked out great for me. On behalf of our family thank you again for your beautiful work.
Tugg Speedman: Kind and compassionate - true professionals.
