John Sanders: If you are looking for a place where you can have a legit good time this is it. You aren't going to get bottle girls with sparklers dancing around in almost nothing, but you will get a great place to dance and hang out. There is an escalating cover that starts at $10, and goes up to $20 as the night goes on. Its a small place so have realistic expectations. The Dj's are top notch, the bar staff friendly, and hot!! What more can I say about this place, drop in and have fun...

BOB Surette: Middlesex is a great spot for great music of all types (depending on the night), great peopple wiht good vibes. If you are looking for an attitude free great place ot dance, drink, and have a good time then this is the place. The staff is solid and could not be nicer. The bartenders are legit and hot!

Katie Faraone: If you like dancing, you'll have a great time, and if you don't like dancing, why did you go? The DJ played a solid mix that kept all my friends with a 15 year age range happy, the drinks were tasty and the vibes were solid. Getting a drink is like getting a drink at any crowded place; if you engage with the bartender, it will happen a lot faster (we never waited more than a few minutes on a busy Saturday night). The crowd was extremely diverse by Boston/Cambridge standards. When we arrived at 9:30, it was basically full inside and there was no line. The coat check was clutch. My phone tells me I danced 3 miles in about 3 hours. The perfect place to go dancing when you're looking for house party vibes if any of your friends had a house this big.

Bartenders & staff were fantastic as usual!I don't know how the staff can stay so calm & collected with all the grumpy people from like 3 days ago (Saturday).I heard Harvard lost against Yale so that could explain why students were so grumpy and complaining.DJ had a killer set!

Samantha: This bar is absolutely terrible - do not go!! The music is really bad, and certain of the bartenders are extremely rude and take people’s credit cards, aren’t paying attention to the charges, give them to the wrong people and then disclaim responsibility. They also have no manager present, and the person “filling in” for the manager, Chris Young, was dishonest about the bar’s procedures for this type of credit card fraud (despite being an “accountant” and an utter lack of professionalism). There are so many better places to go that won’t rip you off!

Jeremy Spear: if you’re a young person don’t go here. I’m 23 and the average age in this bar was at least 35, it was filled with some of the weirdest and creepiest people i’ve ever seen in my life. Worse than anywhere else. We all wanted to go somewhere else within 5 minutes. Also a super overpriced cover charge. It’s worth maybe $5 but they charged $20. Music was 3/10- they literally played the Rugrats theme song. If you have to use the bathroom, the line will take minimum 15 minutes because it’s a single stall. For the same price, just go to an actual club and have more fun. The venue is boring- it’s just a big square room.The fact the owner replies to the 1 star comments and gets all trashy and defensive is all you need to know lol

Mackenzie Keefe: Minneapolis has a horrendous bar scene so I was excited to try out bars and clubs in a new state. Somehow, this was worse. There were 4 DJs and somehow the music got unplugged. Which I guess was fine because I didn’t hear 1 good song the entire time I was there.

Hadley Camilus: I've been going there for over 15 years, and have met really cool people over the years. This rating is about the totality of my experiences rather than my most recent ones. I love that it's a mature crowd. The last couple of times I've gone, the DJs have lacked feel. They cut songs off way too quickly and don't have a sense of what the audience is feeling. In general, I love that the music isn't poppy. You gotta be into old school hip hop/r&b and 70s soul to dig this spot.

浜中正志: Went there on Friday night at 10:30 and forced to wait for 30mins with no reason because there were enough space inside. I expect good hiphop music but they never play that. All the way EDM or even some wired music. You also must join long Q for rest room. Just packed with young students who has no clue about music.

Fibi N: So went there with a large group on Friday night around 10:30, it wasn't crowded so there was plenty of space to dance. The bar tenders are quick with taking your order and the bathrooms are very clean. The dj played an awesome mix of afro beats, hip hop, reggaeton and some old school hits. The place gets more filled up closer to midnight. $10 entry fee. Will definitely be back on account of the great music.

Emmanuel Londono: Friendly staff. Very friendly bouncer. Not beginner friendly. You DO NEED a partner for this place. Website clearly states no partner needed. You dance solo non beginner friendly báchata/salsa for 10-15 minutes which was fun. THEN you NEED a partner. One of the gentleman that came to learn solo, poor guy walked around for 10-15 minutes trying to find someone but obviously couldn’t SINCE YOU NEED A PARTNER.5 guys sitting alone on seats because they came alone with the intention to strictly learn. DO NOT COME IF you are single, or did not bring a friend… at least offer solo dancing if you’re going to state no partner needed. Waste of money. I’m not shy AT ALL, and social interactions I excel at. Frustrated since I paid 15 dollars to dance 15 minutes.Cute place for a date, or learning WITH A PARTNER. The beginner friendly dancing Is like expecting a 4 year old child to read a short 300 page novel...( I know how to get by with bachata) Manage your own expectations. I would’ve danced more beginner friendly bachata at a club or bar much more easily, and would’ve easily found a “partner” there.

A& A: Come here for great fun salsa! Not snobby. Friendly dancers of all races were here on Tuesday. The entrance was free before 9pm on Tuesday May 2nd 2017. This was recommended by a friend who lives locally. Would come back here again.

The instructors, music, and drinks were wonderful. Any dancer of all levels will enjoy it here. Btw, there is a coat and bag check there which is free

Nathaniel: Seemed great if you already know how to dance, but if youre a beginner don’t bother. The lessons are awful if you don’t already know dances. Within the first 2 minutes they just started saying numbers without telling what’s going on. Half the people don’t know what’s happening and the instructors act like it should be common knowledge. If you don’t know how to dance and want to be embarrassed then this is your place.

Craig Martin: I go somewhat regularly and it's made me a much better dancer - still a long way to go. I saw another review complaining about the bouncer and the vaccine card policy. Every time I go, the bouncer gives me a big smile and thanks me for coming. Very nice person just like the rest of the staff. I've never had a bad experience and I appreciate knowing everyone inside is vaccinated.

Shih-Yuan Liu: Havana Club is one of the best places to dance bachata in Boston. I am a regular, and I really like the very spacious hardwood dance floor, the friendly atmosphere and people, and the wonderful music. Jeff makes a point in keeping the dancers safe. The staff shows strong professionalism and high integrity. Today, I lost my wedding band; Jeff and his wonderful staff made a real effort in finding my ring. I am extremely grateful that they found it and returned it to me on the same day. If you like latin dance, I highly recommend Havana Club!

A.J. Mills: Please be careful here. I am not sure if it was staff or another patron, but someone put something in my drink here last night. I am a 6 foot 270lb man, this can happen to anyone. I’m lucky my friends were there to take care of me, things could have been much worse.Edit after Owner Response:I am glad that, as an owner, you memorize each patron at the bar every night and your first instinct is to deflect rather than seeking more info. Sadly this is to be expected based off of the tone in other review responses. This is a disgusting problem rampant all over the city and I, as a bar owner, would be be focused on ensuring the safety of my patrons. Again, I am thankful that I was not alone, as my friends were able to make sure I got home safely, something I would not have been able to do on my own. As I said, this can happen to anyone at any time--go out in groups, and stay vigilant.

Charles Jacobs: Strict vaccine card policy and rude bouncer who prides himself in turning people away.I presented an iPhone photo of my Passport (which has been accepted at ever bar I’ve gone to in Boston and Chicago…) and bouncer insisted that it was invalid.I offered to show him matching insurance cards, bank accounts, social media accounts etc. but he was insistent on that not being “valid” because of everyone’s “safety.”😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑 Really?He bragged how he “once sent a guy all the way back to Lowell.”When I asked to speak to anyone else inside, like a manager/owner, the answer was a hard no…Went home but didn’t end up going back because I was so turned off by this guy.I realize he was “just doing his job,” but why not accept this form of ID when EVERYWHERE else I’ve gone has accepted this? Any explanation?This was my first time going to visit here and my last time trying to visit here.I will Not be making a second attempt to visit.(Visited on 8/2/2022)

Terri O'Brien: I have a medical exemption for the vax but couldn't get in. Vaxed people get & transmit Covid. I test every week but can't get in. No one wears a mask. I find this practice discriminatory, political & completely nonsensical.It would make more sense to me if masks were also required but yes I will absolutely respect your decisions and policies. I look forward to a time when none of this is necessary. Enjoy your day.

Lena Owens: Great place to dance, definitely would recommend it. Space is large but on the interior so there aren’t any windows. Stayed pretty cool on a hot day because of their large fans. Staff were nice and bathrooms were clean!

Liam Sampson: Bad vibes, even worse acoustics. Fights braking out and people have loud conversations mid show, nothing done by staff. Saw an amazing artist but the dead crowd and sound quality was just not it.

Akshat Sanghvi: The sound system is faulty here. Its just pierce your ear facing the right speakers. Multiple people closed the ear facing the speaker. The experience wasnt worth the charges.

Aaron Geisel: This venue gets you up close and personal with the band. Due to the small size you could usually get a good view of the stage just about anywhere. We saw Against the Current in 2021. The weird thing is that it seems to be run out of a club(?). We were there for the band, so I can't speak for the amenities. Lights were okay, but I think your experience will greatly depend on how much you like the act on stage.

Lance Sharpe: I'm writing this because of a lot of the other reviews posted. Maybe it depends on the day but our first time going was Thursday night and the staff was great, beer was fairly priced and the venue seemed clean as well. From the guy checking IDs at the door, to the guy handling passes, to the bar tender, all were very pleasant. The guy checking IDs also said there's a strict no-vape policy because their sprinkler system is sensitive and has been set off before. Based on our experience I would recommend this place hands down.

Kara Trott: Sound is horrible and venue feels like a highschool dance gymnasium. Missing the intimacy and family vibe of TT's. atleast they had that. Seems like downstairs middle east and sonia are in competition as to who can make it sound like music is being played through a giant metal echo chamber.

Viraj Patel: Worst experience every!!!!!The Bollywood night was supposed to start at 10. We were in a line since 10:15 but finally got in after 11:15. They took forever to check id and let people in.As soon as we entered they started treating us like slaves. NO AC at the venue. Finally, they turned the AC on after 1 AM. When people started feeling suffocating.I stepped out to answer important phone call. They didn’t let me in. And said anyway only 15 mins left so you can go home. And I had to wait over half an hour for my friends to come out. So I was roaming on the streets like homeless.Never choose this place guys!!!

GUALA: Fairly clean and safe feeling venue, small capacity. Sound and lighting engineers clearly had no idea what they were doing. Vibes were just OK. Nothing special. Sound quality is bad, no dedicated subs. Also if your promoter cant fill a 200 cap room for a major dj, fire the promoter!!!

Eli Moslemi: I was there last night for the first time. It’s a big region connected to multiple restaurants and bars in the building.The Sonia Live Music Venue though was quiet a small old place. Sound system quality was good. Next to the stage is a bar.Restroom was fine, not very clean.A point I can mention is there are some benches around the room in case during the live you get tired and need to sit.

Shreya Sivakumar: Went to two different concerts here recently. During the first one, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the show and everyone had to evacuate. We were allowed back in after a short time and the the concert resumed. The same thing happened again at the second concert and everyone had to evacuate and stand outside in the cold for a long time before we were told the rest of the show was cancelled. Turns out someone kicked a sprinkler at one of the Middle east venues causing it to flood that also set off alarms here. A random fight also broke out at the second show before the alarms. Besides all that, the venue is alright. It's on the smaller side and has a good view of the stage from almost everywhere. I do prefer the other Middle East venues over it though.

Tyler Z: Saw Schwayze on 11/13. The venue is interesting to say the least. Kinda feels like it is a converted church of some sort? There were these wooden benches that go all around the interior of the venue.It’s a really intimate venue so you’re able to get up close to see whoever is performing without much difficulty.I’m not from the area, so maybe this was just my fault but I did not know proof of vaccination was required to enter (photo is fine). My friend did not have a picture of their card and had to go back to our hotel to snap a picture of it before being able to enter.

Brian Watson: They don't enforce a mask mandate. As in more than half of the people entering weren't wearing a mask and the staff at the door were completely cool with it.
