Tavarshia Batts: I have been to this location a few times. The first few times I had good service on my car but poor customer service from an older black guy. He was sarcastic and condescending. This most recent time I went I was warmly greeted and serviced by 3 gentlemen. Jay was enthusiastic and helpful so I felt comfortable that he would make sure I received proper service. Amanda Oppold: Oil change was fine but when they took off the skid plate for the change they broke or lost several bolts and did not inform us and instead just put a zip tie on it - which we did not notice until 2 weeks later when the skid plate got caught on the road and started dragging and is now fully bent and broken.

Patrick Noble: I was refused service for an oil change by manager Tyrone because my truck has a skid plate on it and reported that he didn’t want one of his guys getting hurt taking it off (~30lbs). In the same breath he then stated he couldn’t perform the oil change because they could perform 4 regular oil changes in the time that it would take to perform this one secondary to the skid plate (it’s an extra 4 bolts to take off and put back on). I’ve been using this location since I was in high school over a decade ago, naturally with a different car. I will no longer support this business as well as no longer recommend their services to anyone including my family/extended family, friends in the Cambridge/Somerville community, and you the reader. If anything, support a local business next door at Jack’s gas or honestly anywhere else aside from Valvoline. I’m really disappointed in the way that Valvoline has fallen off at this location and the way I was treated by Tyrone.

I highly recommend you do your oil change here because if anything ever goes wrong they are there to help you great customer service as well. If any health inspectors are reading our reviews - please visit this location!The vegetables are very old. As in, you buy some strawberries at 8pm, put them in the fridge, and the next morning they have molded. I've had this exact scenario happen FREQUENTLY with: strawberries, raspberries, figs, blackberries, and even blueberries.They sometimes sell spoiled meat. Like, slimy meat that smells like death. I've had this happen to me several times in the past 1-2 years. It's especially a problem with uncooked sausages and ground beef. At this point, I only buy vacuum-sealed meat packages from their freezer section.In a nutshell, it seems that they are desperate to never throw anything away even if it is expired - they don't care at all about quality. Which, considering the sky-high prices, is really insulting to the customers.These are long-standing problems and you'll find other reviews where people report the same issues.EDIT - I showed this review to my mom and she said "yeah I bought spoiled meat as well".

Dan M: Parking can be crowded but surprisingly never had an issue. It’s a small store but the staff is generally friendly and no lines except for rush hour. I’ve had great friendly interactions with the cheese department. Wouldn’t go out of my way here though.

Its all Within: Needed a refund on a $3 carton of Soy Milk which went bad after 3 days. They wanted a receipt, "store policy." Unlike Trader Joe's and Shaw's, which will do it for you in an instant, they just trust you. Whereas Whole Foods wasted my time and that of the sales person and the snarky store manager, who said that he considered this a good use of his time. I can see the US losing ground to China because of policies and people like this. I'm a 20+ year Cambridge resident.

Leah Klein: The thing to get here is any sandwich you like on French bread pressed. Our favourite is a Cuban sandwich. The French bread is the soft white kind which is exactly what you want for a Cuban - It works well for just about any fillings though too. Next time i want to also try a breakfast sandwich. Montrose Spa is a Mass Ave mainstay. It had been around for as long as I can remember and has nor lost any of its heart, soul and taste. Great spot too if you need some necessities, bread, a drink, some chips, cut fruit etc.

Terry Posner: One of the most overpriced, under-shelved bodegas I have ever been to. They take 12 minutes to make you a sandwich. They keep their refrigerated food and drinks lukewarm. They charge obscene prices ($6.50 for a bottled Starbucks drink obscene). There is no room to move around.The entire operation seems geared toward fleecing Harvard kids who live in the Quad or go to HLS and don't want to walk to the CVS at the Square (advice: just walk to the CVS at the Square).

JASON FOX: The absolute best egg and cheese sandwich i have ever and will ever have!! On a toasted english muffin with perfectly melted white american cheese! Seriously soooo good and Mr. Montrose (as i like to call him) is always friendly and provides great service with a smile!
